BlueRayDick: Bech Cam is out guys! The emotions on Sunday was well captured. Arteta really got his in-game management right with his subs at the right time and the players did their respective jobs perfectly well!
Immidiately Rashford scored Arteta called Odegaard for some talks and few seconds later Odegaard scored
You can watch the bench cam video on our FB page I dunno what his plan is later on but i suspect he gave Odegaard the freedom to stay central. I watched analysis and it shows teta read their setup. There was a big loop in the centre due to how utd were playing. I want to relaazzz cos now i can admit he knows Kai is playing crap after seeing bench cam. |

mostob: I really wish we have the depth at the RW like we have on the left wing.
At the right wing, we have the wide forward type 5 (Martinelli), we have the proper winger (Nelson) and we have the creative one (Trossard). Saka alone combines this three but he need a backup. Make interhouse cup start asap make we see Lucky Dube. Exactly. We've improved greatly in depth at least. But these forwards need deputies/competition. Plus Trossard dey but Teta no wan allow the guy play his natural position. We don't need to wait for a day Saka is Injured and we start experiment with formation and position. Naaah. |

Jodera: To me, experience is not only by age but by what one can do effectively due to past endeavours and improvements. Martinelli have been in our starting 11 for how many years now? I think he has that experience, just improvement he needs to work on
Not saying we don't need competition with Martinelli if we can but I feel he just needs improvement in some grey areas(decision making and outside finishing) and he'll be world class. Mind you, most top teams in EPL would pick Martinelli in a heartbeat
Also, that Lisbon match we played (which we lost on penalties btw), we used mostly our second 11 and returning injured players to gain rhythm. I don't know why you're using that match to access the strength of our team. I still feel it's not a fair picture You said the fact. Experience is not only by age. But for whatever definition it stands for in this context, time is a factor and so age is involved. A player like Ibrahimovic has hone across all big leagues and is an experienced baller. Now be he younger or older, he has garnered experienced in a context to know how to play against teams from that league. We need it!! As for Lisbon game, youre right but we were also tactically outmaneuvered. That was obvious. Plus the mistakes. We also realized that night how easy an experienced defender can silence our young wingers. Plus having no alternative (this fits your angle) |

Jodera: Dave P, I know you would love for us to have that striker that will be scoring 20-30+ goals for us. While that isn't bad but sometimes it breeds this over reliance of other players on him(sometimes subconsciously).
See Saka for example, he wasn't a good/frequent goalscorer when Auba was here. He was always looking for Auba even if 3 people were marking him thus making us one dimensional sometimes but since the time he left, he took it upon himself to start scoring. Same with Odegaard too.
My Mantra is that, If you see chance, just score, we don't have to concentrate it on one person. Reason why I was critical of Jesus before his injury last season. He had the big opportunity to have at least double figure(or close to) before the first half of last season but he wasted big chances.
We don't really need that one 20+ goalscorer if we can get five 15+ goalscorers. It's always healthy that way. See against Man u, with the way we were pressing, I was certain a goal can come from anywhere. If it was during Auba time, I would be praying for him to score cos of he doesn't, we're doomed except of course any of our players head touch that day and score We need. Especially as Arteta is not yet Pep Guardiola yet. We are back to exceptionally serious football. We will need such a player for grand stages. Every big team, at most have such a player. Once again, unless you are Pep, you can't execute terror on the grandstage or get respected more than you currently enjoy. Maybe I'm overprojecting Maybe i just see the future Maybe i just want us to sustain tempo, get an upgrade Maybe i just want us to be that team everyone fears like Madrid with Benzema, Bayern with Lewa, City with Haaland, etc I'm a 'on the move' person. Sporting Lisbon Days(my new slang for days we are tactically outsmarted/days we fall short) will come and we don't want it to be the question pundits will ask during halftime or fulltime. "We are just too good, but we needed that pointman" Of course we can play like this for next 3years. But we need to go two steps ahead. Teams that have such don't fully rely on them. For me, there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with becoming better than what we are seeing and loving right now. Infact many top european teams can play without such a pointman. But we know what the presence of one does to any backline anyday, anytime. That's why I'm clamoring for it. 88 today. Then lets go 100+ with such player. |

She's not justified why she should be on the team lately. She defends well but that's just it. Nothing more. We need someone that is way about the type of defenders they face in obscure leagues. |

Jodera: The only time he did that against Man u, we scored through Odegaard.
Sometimes, he should be looking up for good That's why a more experienced coach would buy a more experienced winger so the young chap can learn one or two or begin to think better ways to approach a situo when he chop bench taya. If Nelli can just change two key parts of his game, he will become that telepathic partner that Odegaard needs. Odegaard is ALWAYS in spots that Nelli can assist a goal from. But guy mo dey look up. I can count how many pass and shoot that would have made Nelli seen in a new light from last season alone. But.... As much as i love our versatility currently, we need experience in this team again. Like actual experience. The young boys need it. Yunno. Auba was someone that had influence on Saka decision making before all those chaotic Gbasgbos began. We have Trossard but coach loves playing him as a 9. Every time that happens, we see that Trossard is more involved outside the box than inside the box. Yet... Yet!!! We can enjoy the thrill for now, but we shouldn't wait till we jam another sporting Lisbon before we start reacting. Overall, Odegaard is a gem. We aren't hyping him enough. |

CoolJulian: Firstly, I did not say she was better than Demehin, my opinion is that 'Demehin is not necessarily a better player.' After all, not all good players get noticed immediately to the extent of getting to play in very good clubs- one does not know what tomorrow holds. I was one player who was pessimistic of the quality Christy Ucheibe could bring to the SF( because of the club she was playing for, her limited experience and limited opportunity she was afforded at her club, during that time) Rita Chikwelu was very active for the SF, but was very ineffective. Due to the fact that the latter had a much greater experience and had played for several better clubs and better leagues, I was never supportive of Christy's invitation. When Christy finally came in, my mind set changed.
Also, I made it known that that video was short; even a few matches would not have been okay, while acknowledging the fact the level of competition Maureen played in was not that high enough. I only suggested she gets invited so the coaches/fans can properly analyse her game. I've been trying my best to avoid this argument for days but i just noticed one or two things in this your post and sincerely, no hard feelings o. But pls, change your style of assessing players. We tend to falter anyway when we seem to reason a player is static and not improving cos pf watching highlights. But mostly, we get proved wrong las las. Few make the exception. We also forget that settling down after an invite to the team is another haul of its own. And that's one aspect that i think one should give to Demehin. We were many that screamed that she's error prone prior to the WWC. She has this over the other player. Till we see otherwise. Only a little number are concluded on before they see invite to national team. Only a little. Overall, the insults i saw were just unnecessary sha. 😂😂😂 🙌🏾🙌🏾 |

We should sha look for one winger to offer something different from Saka for this season. Guy has missed 3 sitters this new season alone. Not saying he's not good. But something different. |

Jodera: Na why I just dey vex say Gabriel deh bench since begining of this season.
No kind of tactical switch should make Gab warm the bench. Never!!! Reason I never bought that "he can't play the three at the back Lb". I no dey see wetin Kiwi dey play to deserve start over him especially last match.
I just hope Arteta Learns his lesson and leave our back 4 the way it is and stop overcomplicating simple issues.
See ordinary Jimenez bullying kiwi against Fulham, I was just shuddering if Kiwi that played against Hojlund ystdy, how it would have been Arteta should rewatch his own touchline reactions for When Kai was on the pitch When Kai waa off the pitch And make his conclusion asap. He can't continue to be that silly in decision making. He's already accepted the Kiwi decision. Time to accept the Kai decision. Infact since he bought kai, Fabio has outperformed him. Reiss has been involved in goals more than him. If ESR plays and outperforms even Fabio and Teta still sticks to starting Kai, then Teta needs advice and more fan reaction |

Joebie: Nothing wrong with testing our forward options. Our attack is still a work in progress. We need to utilize the international window well and address our midfield problems. Even if Nwakali and Yusuf comes today and perform well against São Tomé, many will say it was a weak team. Let’s organize quality friendly and test those boys. 4 midfield invite is hilarious to me too. Aribo should have been left out and one of Alhassan or anyone else should have been invited to test run a new midfield pair as you said. The u20 boys too. I hope they do this fast. We can't be dragging feet with this when almost 5 to 9 spots may be available for new guys after Afcon. |

ObaIgwe1: While it is great to have a top striker like Harland that can give us 30+ goals per season, we have been better off when we don't depend on one or two players for goals but have many potential goal scorers.
Last season we scored 88 goals in the Premier League alone from many players, which is better than we have scored in many seasons including RVP and Auba seasons. The best we have had before then was 87 goals in 04/05 season.
So while I don't mind a top striker, I love it when we don't depend on only one or 2 players mostly for goals. I agree with you. But its the same reason we supposed to have that kind of player with such amount of goals. Yunno. Like MSN and BBC times. But one player was outrightly the baba of goals. That kind. We are getting there. But we need it as a plan to be formidable and feared than we currently are. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by daveP(m): 8:52pm On Sep 01, 2023 |
Jodera: Goals from all angles is the best policy.
The time that Auba scored that amount of goals, we were heavily reliant on him. Anytime he didn't score, we either lose or draw. In fact, sometimes he scores and we still end up losing
Same Thing with Van Persie in his last season with us. Infact, it was a miracle he didn't get injured as he was carrying us knowing how injury prone he is.
I prefer last season policy of different goalscorers(4 different 10+ goalscorers) over one 20+ goalscorer followed by single digit goalscorers. I prefer the Former anyday, anytime, Thrice on weekends!! Sure. The circumstances were against us truly. But we need such a player to be taken even much more seriously. That kind of Sanchez player. Sanchez set were still balling and he got 24+. That's the kind of atmosphere i want. Anybody can score(Alexis, Rams, Carzo), but sanchez was that guy that was way above the rest. That's the thing. Also unstoppable. Like Haaland. |

mostob: I think it is better this way. I would prefer 4 players scoring around 15 goals each than a single player scoring 30 goals. Having goals from different sources will make a team unpredictable and less dependent on a single player. Like what happened some seasons ago...if Auba no score, Arsenal no go score. I like it too, but it's the more reason we need a marksman. We are in that level Pep was with City. We need our own Haaland. See how undisputed City is with his presence. He's that 30+ player per season. We can't just be getting 88goals and still be having Highest goal scorers on under 20 goals mark. Naaah. Doesn't scream big team to me. |
