Ben White would be in a position to consolidate a sweet and nervy attacking move and ruin it. I can count over a dozen of such spoiling of attack by him. Just chip a pass man, or a cross. What's with the turn backs and all that? I doubt he can do anything worthwhile being in front of Saka. He hasn't proved he can do something like that. Defensively, he's doing well.

Yarmalenko seem to read our tactic well. He go soon injure the free Xhaka soon. Jesus should get on the sheets today. Abeg make dem test Ramsdale. E don tey wey dem test am. undecided

Glad we haven't done anything stupid to gift Ward-Prowse a freekick moment.

Onyeka Gamero could be a future key asset for the Super Falcons. I was impressed with her close control, dribbling and decision-making at this tournament.
Herself and Vicky Lopez will pose a lot of problems for opposing defenses
True. They sabi. But i think the former would rather want to go up the ladder with the rest to USWNT. I love her play.

you're right.
An African affair would be really sweet. If only. I see Bello leading the assists table. That's cool. Miracle Usani is our highest goal scorer right now i think. Time for that coach to prioritize Ajakaye hitting the net again.

Winner of Tanzania vs Colombia.

If Tanzania wins, we would have an all-African Semis battle.
If Spain beat Japan, an All European Semis for them vs Germany.

Im super proud of Tanzania.

You have to give it to the girls' defending, they allowed only 4 shots on target in the last 3 matches.
To be sincere, it was more of waste on the usa side than our prowess st defending. We didn't have a single successful clearance from all their 15cornerkicks. Not even a catch by our goalie, compared to theirs. Our fullbacks did much more better than our CBs and i commend them for that. Many times our defence line were more concerned with keeping a line than marking a body. As usual, usa couldn't capitalize.

This takes nothing away from their resilience. But we have to say it as we saw it. This win won't even allow us look at the performance of both our forwards. We take the win and move!!

its not going to be an easy ride ooo..

Tanzania is tough and resilient..

Columbia won their group..

so its not easy...
usa did too now. I guess any team sending usa/Brazil home will hate high confidence to do anything at this stage. And we just did.

The coach did his home work the usa are much better on the ball and also pass better it will be useless dragging the midfield with them
There is no homework or work this coach did to stop any, any, as in, any of the tactics of the americans. And that's a fact. He didn't even notice the tactical tweaking, twice in the first half. He got his fresh leg subs correct though. It's not admission of we no get midfield. It is simple because he no sabi. Make we dey tok true abeg.

This win is a rough and hard win. If the americans won, it would be natural for journalists to highlight all their attacking moves and stats. We didn't soak any, we got lucky.

I was glad the ref didn't penalize her... maybe if she had caught it the ref would have asked for it to be re-taken..
The first two pks from both sides had early reaction that needed retaking. I guess the ref was signalled to warn them for the 3rd. Glad Jiwuaku listened asap. Almiral want dey do intimidation by giving the ball to our pk takers. grin

The man suppose see say if we have two permanent DMs after we scored would have killed their middle runs. But he's rather concerned with how Adeshina and Edafe shoots from the byline. Na that Gk i dey pity now.

I know he will sha calm the girls but Bello and Ajakaye need overlapping defenders right now. Choke that middle.

Our coach no sabi read game. His usa counterpart switched her formation twice and he didn't even notice. I guess shouting like incredible hulk has overwhelmed his tactical abilities.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 2:49pm On Oct 21, 2022
Our defence is on a nervous breakdown. The midfield is like one of those amusement parks in the USA, and the Americans are using it well to stroll. Ajakaye lacks end product, sincerely. Her pace is covering for her. Bello lacks pace, but has vision. I don't like their dependency on this wingplay, but so far, it's really causing some trouble for USA.

For now, nobody can match Jackson from our side. We no get any Ucheibe here, sadly. I talked about Omilana having her first test here and it's obvious so far. The wing the pk came from is a weakness for team USA. The coach hasn't even noticed that so far. Smh.

Folorunsho should talk with Omilana. These mistakes between them will cost us this game if they don't.

Regarding defending Setpieces or throwing, i noticed 3 of our players were just looking, interested more in keeping a useless line than challenging a white shirt. They rather block omilana's view than mark a white shirt. Emmanuel has been okay going forward. But poor when the attack us.

One of our most boring matches but we got all 3points. For Arsenal, this group stage is looking like Qualification stage. Maybe everyone will come fully alive in the KO stages. Maybe. The remaining 2games don't need key members of the squad to execute. Holding should start or see 70mins from both. Same for others available. RVD looking good. His team ain't. We move!

It seems like there was a thunderstorm warning or something like that and an official told the referee to end the match. The referee then decided that they could still play the remaining 7 minutes, so the game was restarted.

It seems both sets of players decided that they were not going to make the remaining 7 minutes into a contest, so they just passed the ball amongst themselves.
Hmmm. That's daunting. They do well.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 1:07pm On Oct 17, 2022
It's a old fashioned 442 we are playing, no wonder. Why didn't i suspect this from the start? grin grin grin
Naija coach obsession with that formation grin grin grin

The formation leaves mosaku and Edafe to be so focused on the respective wings that the two midfielders left have to simple shield the defence so so close. So it is an empty vacuum. A much more technical side would use it to show pepper, volcano dust join.

The game is becoming quite boring. Not sure what the Coach's strategy is, but if we continue to play this way we will be knocked out by a better team. We lost to Germany cause we played exactly like this. It wasn't obvious against New Zealand cause of the low pedigree of th New Zealand team.

Our midfield like you earlier highlited is zero, Chile owns it. We rarely move the ball through th middle even when we've got space, we'll rather go through the wings and hope Ajakaye or Bello makes a run for it. The fullbacks have been lackadaisical in my opinion. Usani shooting the ball when a pass would have sufficed, Adeshina playing like she's tired.

Let's hope they play better in th second half, or at least Chile doesn't up their game lest we see a repeat of Germany
I think the team has been set up to see Ajakaye as the genius. See that wasted pass by Usani despite Ajakaye sandwiched by 2 defenders.

Bodies in the box will help but they are none.

I think our wins are due to weaker opponents than better performance. I wish we saw the passing stats by the midfielders. It may not pass 20/90.

Chile has been the better team, they are better with ball movement/transition and have held most of the possession. They however aren't creating chances.

Nigeria has created the most chances and are lethal going forward. Ajakaye has obviously been the best player so far.

The long throws though are becoming annoying. We rarely hold possession when we have a throw. Nigeria should win this though.
Thank you. Even the commentator acknowledges our wastefulness in possession. They are calmer again. Bellow will soon tire out cos she seems to be the life of this counterattack. The rest are there to mark bodies. Contribution is zero.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 12:36pm On Oct 17, 2022
Midfielders dey vex me. That last chance, eho noticed that only Ajakaye and the other girl were in the box, while all 4 of the midfielders were standing outside the box as if it was a pk moment? All 4. Ajakaye transition forward for that chance and there was nobody in the box aside the girl that headed the ball. Defender cleared and it was still same Ajakaye that came and tried to get another scoring chance

Which kine setup we dey use precisely?

It's annoying, i won't like. It's not even about caution. Its just rubbish.
