that curl shots is what is missing in the Super Eagles and Super Falcons and most of the national teams so its at least nice to see the Female teams scoring curling shots...

Ajakaye needs learn how to curl shots.. she could have curled her shot when she was one on one or lobbed the goalkeeper..
That's if they groom it well and it becomes part of their style. To see someone that takes shots from 25-30yrd out in our team is hard. Asides Ajakaye, i think Folorunsho and Usani have the proper confidence on the pitch. They'll look superb in the u20 shirt u23

Omoh the gals need to work more in converting their chances. They could av scored like 5 in the 1st half and that's me been lenient sha. With the way things stand, they're gonna face USA in the quarter finals. They need to up their game especially been clinical in front of goal.
may the spirit of Uzoho vs Man U rest on omilana grin

Ajakaye has the pace of a Winger. I feel that will be her role as she goes up the ladder. Mosaku and Adeshina having better headers than shots in the box. Same for the team in general.

Why the urge to curl all shots? Evident that was a training project in camp. They need to get volleys.

The wings are still a problem, but passing is better. We need to see what the bench can offer.

I love the 3&4th goals though. They nee6d space and they got just that to shoot. Ajakaye on LRC all through. If we lead Chile by 1st half, she should be rested.

I wonder the kind of qualifications these Nigerian Home based Coaches have…. They really need to invest in themselves personally… Or is it NFF that would still send them for Coaching Courses Abroad?
The contracts from both coaching crews....we jave long way to go. Man dey shout. Woman just dey observe, with technology at their beck and call like top football teams do. It got to a time that the video analyst was making recommendations for the German side. Ours na just shout and....

We can't keep praying the usual "we will get there"

We are too farrrrr behind in many aspects off the pitch. Especially those backdoor power play that ruin things due to "Connection"

Couldn't have said it better.

The midfield was absolutely non-existent. The girls banked long balls, and sadly they Germans were better with winning aerial duels. We lost almost all th second balls too. We didn't have players who could hold possession, and found it difficult stringing passes together.

I believe they'll do better with New Zealand, th Germans were obviously just better.
There is something about Naija coaches and trying to act like na PES where they control the pad and the players must move so.

Then these girls lack pace. I trust Sabastine- she will beat her markers and still square up a beautiful shot or pass. It was boring seeing no wingers.

We had some scrambles at their box 18 but ball control was an issue. The German defence could only look. But we failed to capitalize.

The coach has to drill them, especially those ghost midfielders, on how to shoot from 25yrds out. I'm glad Folorunsho is in that defence. But legwork seems to be their major issue. All of them.

Ajakaye can't get numbers if that midfield and wingers are as wack as we saw this evening. It was during drinking break i saw Aderemi sef. Smh.

Its the so-called Nigerian journalists that keep asking him the same silly questions over and over again, which he keeps answering. Is it not a fact that other African nations have been 'catching up' and making progress in women's football, which is similar to what's happening with the rest of the world?. Is it not a fact that Nigeria cannot just wake up on the eve of a tournament and expect to go there and dominate (as in the past), solely based on name recognition?
Is that the only fact we are seeing right now or you just want to view this one sided? That information has become his excuse and whether they keep asking him, he seems to use that and its silly. If he was that special or knows this job, he will effect some shift. We are seeing the opposite. The results is all that matters.

Nigerians love burying their heads in the sand, expecting the rest of the continent (and world) remain at a stand still. Guess what? They are not and that is why the likes of Morrocco, South Africa, Zambia and others are progressing fast!
I love how you defend this man. It's also hilarious. We are not surprised they are progressing. We know the noose is tighter. But stating it like its some Revelation from Morgoth.

I guess its his job to get on the field and score now, right? As a coach, you prosecute a game with the players at your disposal. Now, if those players aren't up to the task. (contrary to the misguided beliefs of Nigerians that all their players are the best in the world), then you get what you get. If you like, go and get yourself a Pia Sundhagen or Sarina Wiegman or Vlatko Andonovski or even Florence Omagbemi for that matter. It wouldn't change a damn thing!
He has been working on making our ladies team more tactically and strategically competent and it has been working, at least, in the eyes of others outside of this forum who understand the tactical and strategic nuances of the game.
The boldened is funny. Pls state where this was repeatedly established. Your "you get what you get" line is off.

His tactics is working and we have been losing back to back games and can barely score under 30mins markhuh
Then when we complain about that, you bring up his "teams are progressing" talk?? grin

I, for one, saw a Nigerian ladies team, short on personnel and acclimatization (due to jet lag) play against the Japanese and dominated in the first half. I saw them playing the high block and low block and moving the ball around brilliantly and impressively.
Now, I get that most so-called fans may lack the ability to recognize such subtle improvements (perhaps due to their pre-conceived biases), but that doesn't take away from that fact that those improvements have actually happened.

You need to understand that in the overall scheme of things, specifically pre-Waldrum, Nigeria really dropped the ball regarding women's football development and we were slowly being left behind. Unfortunately, the same myopic, 'we are not playing beautiful football and whooping teams left and right' mantra was what led to the idiotic decision behind the firing or Rohr, which ended up being a total disaster. We keep making the same dumb mistakes (not just in football, but in Nigeria as a whole) and expect to get better. Well...
In closing: I was asked (in a previous thread) why I am in support of the man. Well, here's my response...
Randy has worked on revamping the team, slowly transitioning from the old brigade to newer, younger players and also infusing the team with new players who are more in tune with the modern game. The build up and climb to the summit takes time, and is filled with disappointments (failing fast, learning, correcting and moving forward). Losses in irrelevant battles (friendlies) are not a predicate for how the war (the WC) will turn out, but are used to help identify areas of weakness and shoring them up (failing fast to succeed later). This is the same model that the likes of England, Spain, Mexico and several other countries used over the years, with some success. Our SF performances against Canada, US and Japan, albeit losses, demonstrated to me that he is on the right track - again, patiently building a solid and robust team. Let the man finish his project!!!
I wait for a day you'll have this huge faith in a local coach. I won't say anything beside that. Heavens will fall and you will definitely be one that pull the trigger. Bravo!! Pls do defend Project Randy if we mess up at this Mundial. Afterall, everyone is catching up and we need to wake up

Line up
So said the lack of coordination is obvious. What is this all balls to Ajakaye I'm seeing? I know it's cadet football but this middle is non existent and then the way they press is off. The Germans will start from the back and no one to pit pressure on them and they'll be watching and running back as the Germans advance further up the pitch. Terrible!!

Aerial balls are more than Ground passes i believe. The Germans noticed and worked on that. I see no wingers. Seems they are focused on their secondary duty than the primary one.

And no be say this German defence sabi. They look confused at the back too. I'm afraid this team is built around Ajakaye and that's a big recipe for disaster. If she injure like this, the team is toothless.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 6:30pm On Oct 10, 2022
This man is so concerned with other teams catching us with us than he improving the team to show that we're changing the gear. The inference in his speech is enough to get him fired. How many times does he need to keep saying that? He can't even make these ladies score under 30mins. How does he want to do it at the WC? 3defeats??

If they are catching up, your assignment is to increase the momentum. Rather we hear the opposite and this can't even be accommodated if it was coming from a local coach. We would be up his nostrils by now. Im tired of this man, sincerely. He is beginning to feel Invincible to whatever we observe.

I'm happy we held the nerve. Well deserved. Yasu subbed Salah off, not Klopp. Won all aerial duels. Hated the Firmino equalizer. Annoyed me. Ramsdale should have done better.

Who saw that freebie Odegaard played to Allison hands?? See why i say the guy dey vex mehuh

Xhaka is up the Assists table and Odegaard no dey. Wassup??

Goal na wahala. Assist dey boot.

It is a good think we forced Klopp to sub off Salah and TAA. That was epic. He had only a shot at Ramsdale.

Gabriel needs some talk. Especially with Saliba. White impressed me today pass Odegaard. Regardless, Sa-ka don break Anel-ka record. Bravo.

Its somehow that Sanchez and Monreal had a lively pairing than Nelli is currently seeing.
Infact Kolasinac too before he was giving rubbish moves. If Nelli is going to be effective,he needs his own Odegaard on that LHS. Else, all we have will be space with few goals. Nelli too needs to be conscious of Xhaka.

That 3rd goal was cos he was dispossessed and ball fell to xhaka.

Well, lets put that match behind us abeg.

We get Bodo Glimt and Liverpool, i think.

TV/MoviesRe: Anikulapo: A Review by daveP(m): 10:36pm On Oct 03, 2022
Nigerians made the movie look like it was all about the boobs. That also affected the way the movie was approached by those yet to watch.

While there were many stretches, they did really do well with behind the scenes and the effort on that is unrivalled, sincerely.

The storyline can pass off as a typical Yoruba movie, but the screenplay did it a notch higher. Screenplay didn't do enough justice to that storyline though. Some aspects had loops that we don't know if it was intentional or not.

Like that Akala needed some background or consequent focus.

The evil forest needed to show why it has an eerie and terrifying status. But we saw none of that. I can't forget Kola Onadipe's The Unknown Hands story mainly because he described the evil forest in a way that impresses on your imagination. That forest, of we see a part 2, needs to live up to its hype.

The King of Ojumo too, since he was dignified enough to get flashbacks, it would have been better to see the story behind why he just can't speak publicly again. That's one loop that would help his role in the movie.

One notable achievement is the gathering of legendary yoruba acts in one movie. No doubt, that brought a smile to my face. Especially as they didn't need to talk much before their roles could be understood. If that can happen twice under a different story but pre colonial times story, it should get the necessary hype. Just as Anikulapo is getting.
Lessons were the focus anyway. The love focus needed a stronger emphasis than we saw. Especially with greed and ambition in the mix.

I know a Part 2 is coming. Gbogan needs focal lens too.

As for Arolake, she started all this by that crazy vampire leap in the bush path on Saro. No one expected that.

Overall, Mama did justice to her role. The sugar mummy herself, Awarun. Her own scenery was the best executed with all the pottery and etc.

Many will not be happy at the loops. They were obvious. The Princess aka Eyiyemi Afolayan did so well. For a newbie on set, she deserves accolades.

A 7/10 will do for me.
