On a norms, this female cadet team jobs should have women as top priority for the job. It will foster a growing system of more female coaches in Nigeria.

That Linda Caicedo will definitely go to the world cup next year.

We can't say same for any 3players from the combo of our u17 and u20 teams. Add the Coach we have for the Super Falcons right now and it becomes even worse.

Mosaku has not been with us since the quarterfinals. I don't understand why he kept her in the game.

For me i would have rather put Adeshina on the wing than take her out and leave Mosaku.
A clueless coach that has barely been silent from the touchline for 10mins in over 400mins of football would never see that. I doubt he even feels like he has a bench.

For the first time in few months you said something applaudable to me… Coaching Coaching Coaching is one of the problems of Nigeria Football as a whole…

Imagine Germany U17 girls team been Coached by a UEFA Pro License holder ( The highest Coaching badge in Europe), while Nigeria team same can’t be said of..
A very sad and horrifying fact. They can't even read a game their opponents' formation and tactics and how to neutralize it in an instant. This archaic format of maintaining your initial formation sef ehn.

Besides, in this competition, we used 442 majorly. All pf a sudden, he changed it to 532. That 532 made Bello and Etim(bad pairing) to be up front.

To make matters worse, he subbed off the same Bello that makes our attack tick and left both Moshaku and Etim on. Ajakaye could barely make any impact. The understanding Bello has with her, into thin air.

532 changed to 433
Not even the usual 442 he's been using all through the game. Making Afolabi Totally overwhelmed in the middle. Then that bench just has no lifeline. Ineptitude of the highest.

The NFF has to start demanding for the best if we want to move up. But quota system veil will continue to deceive them. What next for him now?

If there is anyone to blame its the coaching crew and the coach himself...

the coaching crew were busy praying instead studying the Columbian goalkeeper strong side and informing the girls since the Flamingoes themselves didn't notice it...

The coach and coaching crew were relying on prayers and luck instead of teaching and coaching the Flamingoes about looking for weaknesses the opposition team have..
Totally agree.

I guess the idea of training sessions is one warped and old school format in the head of most local coaches. We kept doing as if we are experts in pk-meaning we supposed to have that in training

The Late Yemi Tella's u17 that became champs that year, we were glad to hear thar they took hours training for pk immediately the KO stages began. Now if they were all scared, those hours will increase confidence so fast, especially for the Gk. Only to hear from commentator that Bankole no even get pk list, and then seeing nobody eager to go take a pk. Yes, it happens. But just shows the cluelessness of this particular coaching crew. They just allow presido to waste flight money.

Adeshina and Bello should not have been taken out of the game. I don't get the favouritism towards Mosaku. She has not been in the last 2 games.
His stupid formation at the beginning caused it all. 532. So to revert back to a 433, he had to take out Adeshina. I barely saw any connect with Etim and Ajakaye after that switch. Mosaku disappears like wind. Maybe those birds picked her and flew away.

Let me see if there will be a revival on the field today. Am not against prayers o, but the way we think in Nigeria, we expect God to do everything for us, now since they lost, would they say God forsook them?
Back to the match, the better and deserving team won, qed.

Columbia too are very religious sef. They were praying too. grin

Their coach kept kissing his cross.

A pity. It now looks like the Asst Coach, that taller dark man, is the ginger of the girls.

She chose the same corner that she missed vs Usa. Chai. At least copy Usani's style if you no sabi take pk. It's a fast way to take pk. They should allow Alima play 3rd place abeg.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m):
Another hard truth is that one would have expected the ginger from defeating the favourites, Usa, to be seen in this team. Rather, we saw a rather funny formation to start with. 532. Bello and Etim upfront(terrible combo. Very terrible)

Afolabi was in the centre of the field and got absolutely exhausted and still, no sub to breathe energy or life. None!!! Blessing and even Edafe were just surviving. Like , in this heat?? Do they have Nitro?

See, I've said it at the beginning. We are lucky. Hopefully, they do something to get a medal.

Losing isn't great, but let's take it easy on the girls.

First, it is a developmental competition, so mistakes are expected to be made

Secondly, anyone who watched the girls from the beginning knew they got to this stage 50% by share luck. The luck ran out today.

The most important thing is that we take lessons from this and build from here. Also, we need to pay cognizance to the development and growth of these girls (at the very least, those with enough potentials to grow into th next stage).
Yes it is a development stage. But it is for the team that will lift the trophy too.

I agree with the sheer Luck aspect sha.

The biggest blame goes to Edafe IMO. Immediately she lost that kick, Nigeria crashed out because that totally ripped the confidence of the team apart.
That's true. More like her teammates believe in her as the best taker of this team. This makes me applaud Usani for doing differently this time. Folorunsho though .. cry

Shouldn't that be on the Goalkeeping coach to have mapped out a strategy on what to do with each penalty?
Couldn't he have devised a plan during training with Jiwuaku on signals from the bench on which side to focus on?
The keeper needed guidance and didn't get it from the coaching staff.
Instead, we had prayer warriors on the bench, hoping on fasting and praying to see us through.

Gusau shows up and the team incurs a loss.
Absolutely. I saw none. Like this is exactly what I'm talking about. The cluelessness of this coaching crew. She obviously showed she lacked any info to help her. Even if she doesn't know where, at least how to go with each pk. This entire pk shows the lack of anticipation from this coach. It's obvious there were no training sessions for specifically this moment. If there were, with the open chance for taking pk, the players aren't Supposed to be reluctant.

To face Germany na.

Sincerely,the better team won.

As i heard this Clueless Coach didn't have a PK list, i knew we were finished in India. Once bitten, twice shy.

He can't even practice pk and select them from training after the usa gamehuh

He dey dere dey knee dan dey pray. Mtchewww undecided

Jiwuaku didn't act like any pk specialist today. She dived for just 2. The rest she just stood. Rubbish.

Sad that nobody wanted to come forward for a pk. It looks like its natural, but it reflects the mental state of this squad under tension.

As for Etim, i do hope she gets some talking to. But she had one chance and no single white shirt was in the box to receive a cross or pass. Same old same old palava. Funny enough, the Columbians are sitting back but we haven't utilized.

She's been shaky. Thank God for Edafe Clearance. Etim and Bello no click. This should be first match together. This coach sef. If Bello's through balls are to get better finishing, she needs a pacy player. Looks like Afolabi's roaming is leaving the marking to Blessing.

I hope Linda Caicedo doesn't punish us this 2nd half. Even our Gk dey clueless but made some good saves. We need to be lethal in the box. Sadly... All tournament, we haven't.

I thought we should even be happy that we have different goalscorers and that if Jesus can just improve on his finishing (the only thing I feel is missing recently from his game since the chances are being created for him on a steady), we'll become an even more unpredictable and difficult team to handle. I mean, isn't that a hallmark of a top and dominant team, where goals can come from anywhere and any angle?

But then, I see what we want is the one only where our striker will be scoring goals only. Let us be a one-man team I guess.

It's alright!!
GJ sometimes overdo. The cutting ish has denied him 5 goalscoring chances alone this season. Just shoot and bury it. No! He go cut again.

Haaland and Jesus Drought na fatigue excuse we dey hear for both. grin

Sincerely we have too many romance with the edge of the box to not be getting as many goals as City. Overdo just dey enter am and it's annoying. Na why i love Xhaka. Once it comes to him, he's fired it.

we aren't hyping the girls. They don't get that much hype to be sincere. Some get the stick well. But this man looks like he is set out to play second fiddle to every footballing nation we encounter. He oozes it and talks like it and doesn't talk on the pitch.

We can sack him and get 2 managers that will still get sacked for no delivery. But it will be obvious who has the defeatist mentality Everytime he speaks. How does he even inspire these ladies to start with?

The same pessimistic, uninspiring and self-defeatist mindset. It is consistent with ALL his press conferences. Imagine him describing Nigeria qualifying from tb group as "surviving".
He talks more like a pundit in an EPL studio than a manager. I won't be surprised he doesn't know his players by name, position. They should get this man off our team.

And someone on here wants to use the excuse of the game in Africa is developing and others are catching up to cover his dumb talks....
If he can't inspire belief in this team, even if they are inadequate, he should getat. We take too much rubbish from guys like this. Argghhhh.

Waldrum reacts to Super Falcons World Cup draw

Randy Waldrum believes nine-time African champions Nigeria can pull through a tough Group B of the FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Australia and New Zealand next year if they continue on the tangent of regular top-grade friendly matches and camping programs.

“I have mixed feelings because it is a difficult group. Host nations are almost always difficult to play, and more than that, Australia is a fantastic team. Also, we have the Olympic champions, Canada in our group. We played the Canadians recently in two friendly matches and I know they are highly motivated for the World Cup.

“I know some of Canada’s players very well. Then, we have the Republic of Ireland. It is a tough group but I think it is the same with most of the groups. It is the FIFA World Cup so you are bound to play the strongest teams. All the groups are difficult and you know, there are so many good teams these days: that is where we are and it is a great thing for the women’s game.”

The American insists that the Super Falcons have the talent, guts, and ambition to cause a storm at the finals scheduled for nine cities across Australia and New Zealand from 20th July – 20th August next year.

“We have, no doubt, the talent to survive in this group. We just need adequate preparations such as the regular friendly matches during international breaks, and then the training camps. The girls are ambitious; they want to give their best at the World Cup. I trust that they will do Nigeria proud.”
