There is this Super Eagles winger notable for dragging players out of position with trickery.
He sat mostly on the bench alongside Iwobl during the last AFCON tournament.

God help our football,
I think if we analyze a manager from just one lens, the lens of adjusting tactics in minutes while play is ongoing, then our last 3 managers are wack.

Klopp
Pep
Conte

Klopp taught arteta this in their last meet. He tweaked his tactic by half time and arteta stubbornly remained resolute. It was obvious for all to see.

The game has changed. Pre 2000s managers stuck to their tactic. Nowadays, managers are very cunny that a tactic/formation can last only 8mins in a game, with as much as 5-7 tweaks in 90mins, even without subs plus the ghostmoding and waiting for a weakness at the same time like Emery vs Bayern.

Im afraid Pes doesn't fit such a manager. I don't even want to wait for time to tell. We don't have such time.

Rivers United made no mention of this so they should at least be OK. Nigerians in general need to learn how to take a loss. All of this is not cute at all. That being said the LMC has had this problem for years and have not come up with a solution yet.
Well then. Im surprised though. Makes things very bad for the league. Away wins.

Nketiah wey be off and on now is better for us now. At least Laca Don totally off for the past 3 weeks or more.

Let Nketiah play 9, if it doesn't too work out then Martinelli should take over the 9. Arteta just need to be proactive and tactical
Ian Wright made a statement on Nketiah.

He hasn't done enough to turn heads in his direction. Many players have turned heads with less than half the minutes he's played this same season.

He however looks like he's going to get the nod next match.

Rivers United continue the Lords work with another away victory today. 1-0 against Katsina United. Fidelis Ikechukwu finally has some money behind him and he is proving to be a solid coach with Plateau United. Not too long ago Enyimba fans sang "come to Enyimba" to him in Aba grin

Abdu Maikaba and Enugu finally have a good pitch so watch out for them in the second half.
The Oracle Gbenga Ogunbote is my coach of the season so far. What he has done with Remo stars is unprecedented

The real shocker is Sunshine Stars, I'm like what are u doing here grin I actually predicted Gombe would be good this season so no surprise but Wikki are my disappointment. I actually saw them fighting for a continental slot.

I believe Enyimba can climb up but the verdict is still out on Akwa.

What if Kano Pillars get relegated grin

Seriously though I think the guys that are there might stay there until the season ends. Lobi made some move but it might be too late. The teams ahead of them are really good squads.
Breaking:

Players and officials of Rivers United currently bn held hostage in Katsina

Members of the Rivers United contingent have been physically assaulted, I've been reliably informed

Rivers United defeated the home team, Katsina United this evening

Sad sad stuff

I did and even discovered more that buttresses my point. Although i saw a better showing from some players i initially wrote off. But my points are very much still valid.

Lol, I think the bolded is too hard on Arteta without looking at context.

One, Auba left because he wasn't feeling to be here again. In his last days here, He's not putting his body to score not that he wasn't even getting the chances. Lacazette on the other hand, everyone knows he hardly scores. Most of our games I noticed this past few weeks I noticed he's always hiding when he should have make a dashing run to score. Last match was even worst, especially that chances that Pepe unfortunately missed from a square ball by Saka. I was looking for Laca and I saw him hugging the other post far away from the action and that's just only one example from the numerous examples.

A good striker that can score will score in this system. Don't use Auba decision to leave arsenal or Laca lack of goal threat to judge Arteta's system
We were harder on Emery remember. What's with the feel on being soft on Arteta?

I like what Chuks said Emery told him when he was about to come on

Just run.....

Simple and direct but shows the absolute faith a manager has in his midfielders to make the big difference and against opponents they are not even an underdog in.

Right now, only Iwobi and Ndidi are such midfielders.

It remains this dragging opponents out of position to make things click.

Chuks also said he watched two hours as instructed by the coach.

We definitely have a man management problem in this SE setup. A coach sees a pacy forward and has no such plans to use that to advantage?

All Chuks has yesternight were just two touches of the ball. Naaaaaahhhhhh!!!

We should not give any inept fellow this SE job again and expect Miracles.

A great manager can even replicate what Mou did with porto in 2004. Doesn't need much stars in his team.

Of course having the right personnel matters.

Staying with almost full concentration against Bayern is not an easy feat.

Finally!! An SE player is in the Semis of the UCL after many years of absence.

I missed this game despite expecting it but naptu fp highlights is enough for me.

I see nothing much to praise the ladies for except this time, Surviving.

The foolish setpieces situation reoccurred once again. Canadian Corner/set piece and all the defenders were oblivious that 4red shirts were behind them all eventually.

As big as the Canadian team are in Women's Football, they also did this nonsense marking that led to our first goal despite having the better defenders. That should make anyone know by now that this zonal thing doesn't work.

My observation about Ebi stands. Its mostly her fault the equalizer she gifted them. A quick backpass to save herself would have sufficed. That was foolish from Nnadozie too. We don't need such mistakes on a grand stage. The 2nd equalizer had Ebi blocking Nnadozie the third time. Ebi did nothing defensively to me. Its like Her and Rita are just minus 2. Unimpressed!!

For the Canadian Chance at the 27th minute, 6 of our players were blocking the line of sight of Nnadozie, plus a red shirt,. Number 4 was left unnoticed by alll of our players in the box. If any ball came to her she was either going to volley a goal in, with the space she had or take a touch and choose an angle. Our Coach need work on this weak aspect. This Wafcon have better teams now o.

I liked the game Plumptre brought this time. She really covered for Payne. The coach needs tell Payne and Ucheibe to help each other when one is out of position. Uche should play something like what Xhaka does when Tierney goes attacking. That way, Plumptre has less work facing three red shirts.

Relevance of Rita Chikwelu to this team is enough to make an epistle. She has no pass, no accuracy in passes, no cover, no aerial prowess, no tackling or flair for shooting at goal, just merely existing because of what?? Ajibade was doing her job at many points in this game. If Ajibade doesn't get a better midfield partner, even if we get our tactics right vs a wC team, Any of such team that prepares to exploit Rita will beat us with more than 3goals. Where are the Rita Replacements?? Where are these young ladies?

See that sleek one-two the red shirts did and our defense were watching in awe rather than do something? That's the one two our attack needs. For now i doubt there is any chemistry with our attack. I think that's also why Ordega was near ghost in this game. No impact whatsoever.

For players that barely did much to put the team forward, our 5,6 were already fatigued before the final whistle. Smh. If we jam the Southies in wafcon, they may beat us with just these weaknesses. Sinclair was full of life all through.

Never should a 5woman defence be used again.

Players that look ready to me

Nnadozie
Ajibade
Onumonu
Payne

Catch up

Plumptre
Alozie
Ucheibe

Just there

Ordega
Kanu

Minuses

Ebi
Rita

How can we add this possession thing to our game? Its highly needed. At least to solve the fatigue/burn out these ladies have always. Ajibade also seem to be the one with an eye for a shot at goal. Like Ndidi, if she's injured, that's it. Its over!! Individual brilliance and Nigerian Teams!!

Yes, Waldrum could experiment with 3 at the back in this set up:

—————————-Nnadozie———————-

——Ohale—————-Ebi—————-Plumptre——

—Payne———-Ucheibe—-Ayinde——-Payne——

—————————-Ajibade————————-

——————-Oshoala——Onumonu—————
This would make perfect sense if Ebi drifts to the Midfield and distributes to maintain possession. Two Paynes do their runs and back and both must also be skilled at 1_2 passes with the attackers and Ajibade. The end game is a lethal attacking setup and one that easily recovers the ball when possession is lost. If Only Ebi is accurate with passing though. IF ONLY!

Payne Sisters as our Wing Backs, I love that. Tony Payne is a Blessing to the team her versatility melt my heart...

21years Nicole Payne is full of Pace and Energy, but her end product isn't there yet still can't blame her cause she's still in College and will definitely grow and time goes on.. Hopefully when she graduates next year if she doesn't take up the Additional one year as a Senior College Player then Going Pro Straight should be the Best...
By now, I don't expect Rita to be a starter. Is her replacement so hard to come by? Not even an understudy in last 5yrs? Fresh blood should be benching Rita and Ebi by now.

Is it that Tony Payne like it more when she's playing from the Wing??

Or the Current Situations the team find themselves with Player unavailability..
For me, seeing how the attack zaps out or produces nothing to take home, i think she should be played wherever her personal strength for the team shows. Especially utilizing that pace. Imagine a coach instructing the team to find her first in a counter attack situation. She should be allowed to continue. It remains knowing how to connect with another player for the one-two passes that need be worked on.

I completely agree with your point on having the CBs act as a pivot distribution point.
A pity both aren't confident to want to be saddled with that right now. Best bet is to find CBs that can play just that way. Amplifies a lot of things. Can even try it at WAFCON.

You’ve raised cogent points, especially pertaining to defending set pieces.

Waldrum may have to instruct the ladies to revert to woman to woman marking because zonal marking causes them to look confused whenever a corner kick or free kick is swung into the box
The Cbs also need know how to play extra midfield when we are with the ball. Ajibade can give back passes if nothing is upfront instead of hanging. Ebi and Plumtre therefore need to be like some pivot of distribution, that way Ajibade is free to go further and it will be easy to regain possesion. By now, this Giant of Wafcon should be the top team when it comes to dominating possesion. We should get a female pep. Lol.

I hate seeing that zonal marking. It irks me. They all looking confused and transfixed as the ball moves past them.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 11:11pm On Apr 09, 2022
From this Canada match, the ladies need to be put through rigorous setpieces training. Everyone should know where to be and who to mark. I hate that they're like 7in the box and two shirts come between them to cause terror and they're all taken unawares. Whoever played 3 needs to be talked to. They exploited that part well. And setpieces when attacking too. This has never been addressed, just like the same for the men's team. Is this a curse?

Lovely chances from Ajibade and Payne. If Ebi has forgotten he marking skills she should be spoken too. We don't need anyone distracted or taken unawares at the WWC.

Nnadozie to me is ready for anything right now and im happy about that. But we should also expect Oluehi to be ready as well. I don't know how much their passing Accuracy is, but it better be commendable.

And addressing this fatigue moments, the best way out of it is ball possession. Less running and more passing. It will save their strength. I hate that they zap out while the opponent is energetic and still hungry for pounds pf flesh and they just stroll like they don't care anymore. That's why i want younger ones in the middle, not senior mamas. Sincerely. An 18yr old will just flash past them like flash and they can't even do nothing.

Any team preparing against Falcons will use this to beat us anyday.

What's our gameplan for getting behind defences? I saw none of that vs Canada? We can't be relying on individual brilliance like in past years. Someone will say its just a friendly but we should be doing and showing readiness by now.

All hope is actually not lost at this point if Arteta and the boys get a grip on themselves.

Tottenham is still going to play loserpool and Tottenham still has to play us in a derby. They will also play Leicester that will not be an easy match for them.

If arsenal can only take it upon themselves to rack up asany points as possible, just maybe we might still make the top 4.
Conte's Spurs will decimate Arteta in this current state. No jokes. If its not Kane or Son, Dejan is there.

I was always harping on more goals, but its true we don't have a striker truly. That Lacazette and 20hrs no goals is deeper and painful than we see. Especially as Arteta saw Auba and Laca and had to let Auba go. O think he values the control than the results.

My final verdict on this matter is Ikpeba has a trail of such. I think i watched one before Keshi took over where he was criticizing Ambrose but the other pundit in the studio, Babayaro i think, say Ambrose was doing just the job well, and that even there were others lacking positional discipline.

The angle here is that Our legend is picking out only Victor which i find quite uncomfortable.

I however in 100yrs would detest and totally condemn what Osimhen did. What's he feeling like? Has he seen how Mou Criticize footballers before? He better get sense o cos that's rubbish to me. He can choose to ignore, especially as no one would support his own explanation in matters like this.
