Who is even the best crosser of the ball in GWG? Like when in GWG shirt. It's only Aina. The last best crosser is VicMo. How many years away from GWG and a replacement can't even surface? And AE was playing 442 Asif he had 4 Barnes/TAA on the Pitch?? grin

Iheanacho delivers again cool

Fine header
I swear. But we don't have a Barnes in the GWG. Besides nobody trust anything to deliver such dangerous crosses. Simon will stand where Barnes was and be looking like Palomo.

We may have Osimhen, but having Nacho as CF in GWG may just be an advantage than the role he was given behind the striker. His numbers there are not good one bit.

We won a corner late in the game and had Osimhen, Sadiq and Ighalo in the box.. Simon now played the corner low...I was annoyed...
just vibes and inshallah. Cos no technique, no smartness, just luck. Always luck. Talents are too scarce to come by to be wasted like this.

The most important thing is whether the cockiness matches the actual ability.

The examples you gave buttress that point.

I complained about the setpieces thing before COVID-19 started. Lol and behold, Arsenal got a setpieces expert and have transformed the team in that aspect alone.

We can't even pretend like these things are magic or impossible to implement when the North African teams have such specialists and it's obvious in their games.

I guess someone just doesn't see the need to spend money despite the big cash coming in sometimes.

I was on Twitter and more Ghanaians than Nigerians hosted Twitter spaces and were quite boastful.
Eguavoen never fails to stress the need to be respectful of the opposition. It even appears to be his trademark.

Ghana with a weak team, boasted and qualified. So abeg it's not by boastings or by being humble. When you win, you win. When you lose, you lose. There are far more concrete reasons why we lost than this wishy - washy postulations on humility and pride.
Thank you o.

One good example is in boxing. The boasting or not is no big decider.

Sam Peter:I'll cut down this tree(to Klitschko)

Tyson Fury: by the time I'm done with ya, you won't know what hit ya

Nigeria has always used that stale line of respecting opponents Asif it's a thing in football. I just see it as Insurance for failure which has been with the team due to complacency.

It's easier to build a cohesive team in a clubside than a National team. In a club side, you can sign the players you want and build a team that maximises each player. In a National team, your domain of options is limited.

In a clubside, you train week in week out, so every player knows his teammate well, his abilities and his weaknesses. Every teammate knows they're positioned and how to get a great pass to each other. Almost every goal comes from a successful setup or pass. In the National team, players train between months. Not enough time to gel and master each other.

Lastly, the best coaches are at the clubsides. Because you know, we all follow the money.

To succeed as a National team, you must watch your players very well so that you can derive a playing pattern that suits everyone. If the players are then playing, they wouldn't need to adjust so much to play with each other.

I remember saying it here that Eguavoen was setting himself up for failure when he made statements that indicated he wasn't watching his players enough.
TheGoodjoe has said something about this too. I add the team's philosophy too. Like what Spain, Brazil and Germany have. They play it at clubside and so coming to the NT makes it easier for blending in. Even New players, safe a minute few blend in. If I ask what philosophy is premium in Npfl now, we go laugh together. Our Legend winger dey complain for Enyimba months back.

I think our best option will be to get a decent Championship level manager whose contract will permit to double as our National team technical advisor. then maybe Amuneke can remain as chief coach.

The female team have a technical adviser who coaches a club in the US as well and it's pretty much working for them.

The approach saves cost and gives some level of quality too. He can also track our players in Europe better.

To be sincere, we need a thorough rebuild before the world leaves us behind. Not saying what we have on ground can't be marshalled to a top-notch level, but we need to adapt to this modern style that involves systems, one that heavily relies on team play and fluidity. Rebuild is the perfect word. Enough of managing. The disconnect is already at peak, that's why the fans did that, even if not justified one bit. Dunno if we can be that patient Sha.

There's no atmosphere lacking in the SE. There is camaraderie there and so on and so forth but it means nothing when results don't come.

Dem no spare Tite or Scolari that year
That one is besides the talk na. It's lacking cos it doesn't feel like a family that must face the world and prove itself. Plus Nigerians are disconnected from them so the urge to beat has always been there grin

He's a defender so it's not so unlikely. I like the guy. He's very passionate about the team. Some people say foreign borns lack commitment and passion but it's always the foreign borns who cry endlessly when we lose big.
He was bold enough to complain against the system cos he was passionate the most when others feared the hammer. We need more of his kind.

It may interest you to know that many African goalies and players presently were born abroad.

I keep saying this. If the local league players were that good. Why have they not impressed at the CAF champions league? Perennial group stage exits.

Our problem is teamplay. We need a coach who can just get it right. Anything home-based vs foreign based is emotional BS. That's partially the reason we are were we are. Even beyond football.

Nigerians should learn to think straight.
And now these same Foreign born ones, we don't have the best, why?

The best we've ever had was from the local league. You may be right about bias in a way, but somethings are simply facts. If we ignore, we'd always end up in error. My focus is the gk dept for now, not the whole team.

So the Ghana Goalie plays for Swindon? I think this ends this stale Gk discussion for good. Let's end it once and for all. Infact, Ezenwa has been the ONLY GOALIE that made us not disturbed about that aspect since Ikeme.

Yeah he was barely tested yesterday, but he commanded his spot well considering where he plays. 4th division!!!

Infact that spot should NEVER be given to a foreign based ever again!!

He has been there and done that. So many of them on that team cannot say same and he is reminding them what is at stake, E be like to qualify no dey do them again.

They should go back and rewatch that Haram football they subjected over 20 million people to on Friday, so they can see what boredom really looks like.
