Higher denominations do not necessarily lead to a high inflation rate (double digits). I think Nigeria can still have the N1000, and still appreciate in value vs the US Dollar. Anyway, I'd like to see the scrapping of the N1000 note, leaving N500 as the highest denomination; in order to save costs to the CBN and the mint.

Also, me thinks you don't supply us explanations and full details of some events in the story(since you are an omniscient narrator)

An example is,
you only told us the bolded, the "-----" and the past event that happened.(I'd thought you were introducing a new character-Baba Luku)

I guess you believed we would understand it's a flashback.
But, I think you should have put it in some way like,
He smiled and agreed that sleep must be served it's purpose. It made him remember one of his University days in Ibadan.

He was leaving the town to pay one his friends a visit. He boarded a bus and took a seat beside the driver... then you give us the account of Baba Luku.

also,you didn't remember to tell us what happened next.(you skipped that to the next part of the story)
I mean, how he left the scene, recovered from his flashback and got back to the present.

...my little observations though.
