A big blow to police standard of arresting and detaining both innocent and guilty criminal. The guy is a shameless criminal and deserves 1,500 years in jail plus ...., but the law requires that he be charged to court. What nonsense investigation that has not been concluded after more than 2 weeks? |
raker300:I'm exempt from being a part of your generation you think is wasted. All you lot want is to anti-Buhari comments for cheap likes from your brothers. Point out your own opinion rather than quoting me and making vague comment. |
This is a tip of the iceberg, compared to what happens in the Catholic. My Lord is spited. What a shame! |
Sometimes you wonder what criteria these Nairaland moderators use in pushing stories to front page. This should have been in the kid section, if there was anything like that. ![]() |
Ganduje is trying to show El Rufai what governance is. Judging by el Rufai's stellar performance as minister of FCT (not without cronyism though), I'd bet that Kaduna would be competing with Lagos or Abuja by now. But we're yet to hear of any reasonable achievement so far. |

And so? If he hadn't handed over to the Osinbajo as (acting) President, this would've been a concern. As far as I see it as an embarrassment that Nigeria's mumber one citizen is in a foreign hospital, there's nothing to talk about here. Let him get well soon. |
We have two dictator-governors in southern Nigeria - Wike and Fayose. They want to be literally worshipped and feared even by their state legislators and commissioners. |
Ado-Ekiti—Signs that all is not well in Governor Ayodele Fayose’s once cohesive political family is beginning to manifest as a one of his loyalists in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan , decamped to the opposition All Progressive Congress, APC, at his constituency in Ikole-Ekiti yesterday. The development which is happening for the first time since Fayose returned to power in October 2014, could be described as the culmination of the running battle the lawmaker representing Ikole Constituency 1, has been having with Governor Fayose. Aribisogan, who defected to the APC yesterday, alongside 200 other party members at Ward 7 in Ikole Local Government Area, said his action was hinged on the factionalisation and division of the state chapter of the PDP which, according to him, has made his stay in the party extremely difficult. Aribisogan was received into the party by the state APC executive council led by the Deputy Chairman, Mrs. Kemisola Olaleye. He vowed to ensure that all efforts to silence the opposition voice from Ekiti political space is resisted because democracy allows for objective criticisms and separation of powers which is the principle of the rule of law. Aribisogan said he took the decision to join APC after due consultation with his constituents and pursuant to Section 109, sub-section 1(g) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999. The state chapter of the PDP is polarised into two factions. The faction loyal to the National Chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, is chaired by Williams Ajayi while the other faction loyal to the National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi which enjoys Fayose’s support is chaired by Gboyega Oguntuase. He was suspended by his colleagues for 180 legislative days on October 6 last year for allegedly holding meetings with the Senator representing Ogun East in the National Assembly, Buruji Kashamu, and others perceived to be “political enemies” of Fayose. But Aribisogan denied the allegation. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/06/crack-ekiti-assembly-suspended-member-decamps-apc/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 |
What a useless letter. Instead of you to go and comment on his Facebook or Twitter post (and have a good chance of being responded to), you're posting status update for your Igbo brothers and sisters to start fighting over. |
Very good. If only Nigerian politicians can learn from Donald Trump on how to make promises and keep them. From abolishing funding of abortion (Planned Parenthood) to already putting plans in the work to repealing the infamous Obamacare to preventing terrorist threat by banning them, Trump has shown himself to be a rare politician, not our Nigerian politicians that'd start giving you excuses that they were not rightly informed when making those promises, after winning elections. |
Why is Islam such a blood-thirsty religion? These are the same people who claim to be fighting evil - but at the same time commuting all sort of atrocities including killing (slaughter, burning, feeding people to animals), raping women, selling marihuana to finance their evil enterprise and what have you. When Christians fight societal ills, we do so through peaceful evangelism and righteous living - and so the difference between Islam and Christianity comes crystal-clear! |
The Mirror reports that evil ISIS thugs cooked the baby boy of a Yazidi woman and then fed him to his unsuspecting mother after almost starving her to death. The woman was allegedly being kept as a sex slave in a dark cellar and hadn’t eaten for three days. The Mirror quoted Iraqi MP Vian Dakhil, as saying that a ten-year-old girl was also ‘raped to death’ in front of her family members. A tearful Ms Dakhil was speaking to Egyptian TV channel Extra News when she revealed the horrific persecution endured by her people. Ms Dakhil told interviewers: “One of the women we managed to retrieve from ISIS said that she was held in a cellar for three days without food or water. “Afterwards, they brought her a plate of rice and meat, she ate the food because she was very hungry. “When she was finished, they said to her: ‘We cooked your one-year-old son that we took from you, and this is what you just ate’.” Ms Dakhil is the only Yazidi in the Iraqi Parliament. She begged for international help when the Yazidi community was trapped on Sinjar Mountain in 2014 amid an ISIS onslaught. ISIS believe they are entitled to rape, abuse, torture and murder Yazidi women after they declared them ‘devil worshippers’. Ancient faith of Yazidism integrates some Islamic beliefs with elements of Zoroastrianism, the ancient Persian religion and Mithraism. Yazidi women and children are expecting to convert to Islam if captured by ISIS, and are then sold as brides. But those who refuse to convert are eventually murdered. Ms Dakhil also told the news channel that a young girl was raped to death in front of her father and five sisters after they were taken captive. https://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2017/06/27/isis-cooked-baby-boy-fed-unsuspecting-starved-mother/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter |
Olochedavido:I'm on his side as well. I'm only saying that the court may rule against him because they declared that homosexual marriage was right about 2 years ago. So, lets hope he wins, because it will be a great victory for Christians in the US. |
maupe:Even you too, a journalist? The north and their sense of entitlement to the commonwealth of Nigeria, is disgusting. I've been a fan of Nigeria's continuity, but of recent I've recanted my stance. Let there be a restructuring that'd see Nigeria return to resource control by regions/states or let this nation peacefully divide into 4 or 5 states. Yugoslavia did it; theirs was even 7 or was it 9?! |
Instead of only looking at it from the angle that the parents may have been agents of darkness, it could also be that the devil wants to pour sand into their garri - he's out to spoil the family's joy by killing the father, then leading to the mum's illness through depression. |
Going by the landmark us Supreme Court pronouncement that same sex marriage is constitutional, we can as well conclude that the Christian baker will lose the case, but I anxiously hope a miracle happens to turn the tide in his favor. |

Saraki and his co-travelers are overstepping their bounds. What constitutional power do they have to insert projects into an executive budget? And even reducing very important projects such as railway and inter-state bridge, but then including LG projects into same? |
The ongoing face-off over the 2017 budget, may not be over soon, as the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, are warming up to battle the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo. Ripples Nigeria gathered that the Acting President has assembled a number of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) and lawyers, who are members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to prepare their brief and be on standby to challenge the alleged insertions and increment of the 2017 budget. Recall that Professor Osinbajo, had last week, said that the National Assembly had no right to introduce new projects or modify those contained in an appropriation bill. Osinbajo had alleged: “This last budget, the president presented it last December. Despite the assurances that it will be passed in by February, it was not until May. “As it turned out, we were quite disappointed that it spent a bit of time before it was approved. And thereafter, we had to go into negotiations with the National Assembly in order to get it right. “Now, there are these two broad issues about who can do what. The first report is about who can do what. When you present a budget to the National Assembly, it is presented as a bill, an appropriation bill. “And secondly, do not introduce entirely new projects and all of that or modify projects. This is something that we experienced last year and this year again. It now leaves the question about who is supposed to do what.” Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, also in a recent interview, mocked the National Assembly and questioned its powers to introduce new projects into the constitution or raise the budget. Fashola said in the interview: “I do not think that they (National Assembly) can sit down and legislate projects that are not federal projects, that would be doing violence to the constitution because there are three levels of government. The local and state governments have their responsibilities and the federal government should be building federal roads not state roads. “In my budget, you will find things like motorised boreholes, primary health care centres. That is a violation of the constitution, it shouldn’t be in the appropriation law of the federal government. If the judiciary decides that it is the National Assembly that should make the budget and hand it over to the executive to implement, so be it.” Saraki, while presiding over last Thursday’s plenary, fired back that the “Senate will continue to defend the constitution and ensure that anything we do is in line with the laws of the land.” Saraki had added: “I want to say that there are times we have a number of consultations and I want to make it clear that these consultations we do with the executive will not at any time mean that we will give up the powers we have in line with the Constitution. “I want to reassure our members on this because it is very important based on what we have heard. You may be concerned that one way or another, leadership had given up some of these powers. That is not the case. “But I believe that as responsible statesmen, there are times we consult and do our best to work with the Executive and assist them. But as we bend backwards, I do not think that should be misrepresented that powers given to us in the constitution do not exist. That is not the case.” But in the recent development, Ripples Nigeria reliably gathered that the Executive may file a case against the National Assembly at the Supreme Court, which in this case, is the court of first instance. A source who spoke to our correspondent in confidence, said: “The fact is that the National Assembly has been monitoring developments on the budget and gathered that Osinbajo is seeking legal opinions from all the SANs in the cabinet. Remember Fashola recently came out with his own opinion where he said the National Assembly went beyond its powers in certain parts of the budget. “Itse Sagay has also expressed his opinion. All these men have been directed to produce their opinion as a memo to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo through his Chief of Staff, Mr. Ade Ipaye. Also, the Acting President is contacting some other constitutional law experts. “These moves are known to the National Assembly and it is believed to be preparing to file a suit at the Supreme Court. The National Assembly does not want to be caught unawares or ambushed, so it is monitoring events and the leadership has decided that they will respond appropriately to any move by the Executive. “They believe such a move will strengthen the Presidential System, separation of powers and the rule of law. The Supreme Court verdict will also settle the lingering issue once and for all”, our source opined. https://www.ripplesnigeria.com/2017-budget-osinbajo-consults-sans-may-drag-nass-supreme-court/# |
ChangeIsCostant:How does her death concern you and what does this have to do with politics? Why does news of death, pictures of crushed accident victims and blood so much make you bloggers go hay-wire? CastedDude, PrettyCrystal, and all of you who have turned Nairaland to a dump ground for bloody accident scenes and scouring people's Facebook posts for death news for percuniary gain, I advise you to desist. It's wickedness. Do you know this person whose pictures you're broadcasting on Nairaland? Seun, do something about this! |
Omoluabi16:I tell you my brother. It's so disgusting. Unfortunately, the mods are e encouraging this trend (not thread). Taking pictures of accident victims (especially the dead ones) is a horrible thing to do. |
Inescapable trouble for Dino. Kogi will be making history as the first to successfully send a legislator home, if this succeeds. |
