yeyerolling: The banks are making profits now. Amcon shud return thier bad loans to them jare They have always been making money, not as much as they should have. Also, AMCON did not take the bad loans. The banks are taking care of their bad loans by making provisions for them in their books. |

dealslip: I am a banker and a FCIB at the same time, this my tenth years as a corporate banker. I am just 4 years younger than Aisha Ahmad who is 41 years old. I am very conversant with the banking sector in Nigeria. I think it is unfair to denigrate women as not been able to rise to a certain level without the help of men or been labelled as a prostitute. This is very typical of lazy Nigerian men. Please don't mind those e-idiots.. But looking at her profile, no doubt she is smart and quite resourceful (with the CFA and CAIA charter), but she has more business development experience than policy implementation or strategic banking experience. I am not in the commercial banking world but i can mention 3-5 people i know that fit the role more than her. Even in CBN, there are women there that have been waiting to take over when Dr. Sarah leaves but.....This is Nigeria though! Maybe you should look at the profile of the former CBN Deputy Govenor and see what i am talking about. SEE LINK |

yom2: pls let me get this figure right; is it 7naira10kobo or 7.10k?. because dis is d kind of figure that mislead me in may and baker Lool. It is N7.10. Basically, i think their parent company/foreign investor is cashing out and the "special dividend" is for that purpose. |

rebekah2011: They sold part of the business recently and maybe they have idle cash. I suspect maybe the Parent coy needs cash to take out of Nigeria. ..checking their 9M:2017, and they were at a loss of N651m, so i am quite surprised where this special dividend is coming from |

Dear Dealing Members, Please be informed that we have observed an abnormal behaviour in the price of Unic Diversified Holdings Plc. Currently, it allows input of prices outside the price band for today which is based on the reference price of 19 kobo. As such, the security has been placed on a ‘Suspension’ to ensure market integrity. Further updates will be given in due course, as we progress with further investigations. All inconveniences are regretted. Thank you. Loool! So would they reverse all the trades that had gone through? |

Your head is there! ortakida: Truthfully, I rushed into this thread looking for something, you know, more explosive. I am not disappointed though.
But my interest in IB have led to me to discover quite a lot of things that I am shocked are not captured here.
The most import thing I want to share is that the easiest way to get into IB is specialization. There are multiple sides to Investment banking. You got traders, risk managers, asset managers, analysts, researchers, among a few other areas. Developing understanding of how either of these work, will set you up nicely for an investment banking career. And if you take it up a notch, having high knowledge about specific industries would make a valuable asset. Investment banks need people who understand important and emerging markets. Good knowledge of the oil industry, tech industry, clothing/fashion industry, or similar industry is always an advantage! |

crispgg: Please who can recommend a good online platform for trading on the NSE? I was told that some platforms do not actually enable you to buy real time but they only use it to receive orders. Then the platforms brokers now execute.
I will also appreciate advise on the website that can provide analysis and review of stock performance. Finally, abeg what is the recommendation on FBNH and ACCESS bank? To the best of my knowledge, all trading platforms right now are connected directly to the NSE. There is nothing like platform brokers, maybe you are talking about backend officers who helps if you are having issues. MeriTrade, iTrade, EazyTrade are highly recommended. To get information on stock performance, you can check Nairametrics, Proshare, FT, Bloomberg |

So here goes:
1. I have an OCD for everything being in the right places. I often arrange my colleagues IP phones if they are not properly aligned to the table.
2. Please don't walk and drag your feet on the floor. I can kill you, especially if it is your bare foot.
3. Don't send me a message and say just "Hi". I might not reply.
4. I consciously try not to make female friends. I have enough female friends and i don't want again.
5. I am a neat freak. If i see sand on the floor, i can literally sweep the whole house. |

Just saw this on Nairametrics:
Japaul
This is perhaps one of the most notorious stocks in Nigeria. After luring investors at the height of the stock market bubble in 2008, the company also announced that it had agreed a financing deal worth $350 million with Milost Global. This came as a shock to most investors who are wondering if Japaul’s balance sheet was worth anything close to that amount.
Japaul’s 2017 9 Months results reveals that it has a negative equity of about N24.3 trillion. Its total assets is about N27 billion. One then wonders how they came up with $350 million worth of investments. If this deal pulls through, then it is very likely that Japaul will delist from the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
Not a recommendation. DD is advised |
