That's cos you re using Uber. Bolt makes it easy for saucy riders like this.
Parlee:
Riders need to learn hard lessons in terms of using the app. Dont request for a ride when you as a rider is not ready to leave your location, I cant drive to your PU location and then start waiting 10 mins, 15 mins plus, its disrespectful and I hardly ever wait more than 5 to 8 mins I don cancel am collect cancellation fee move ahead.

If drivers constantly treat them this way they will sit up. Got a ride this afternoon and rider sounded in a hurry on the phone so na so i speed go PU location, even before I got there gan gan I already called that I am there still got there and waited 10 mins. Dude didnt show up, I cancelled for the fee and drove off. Na when I reach the place wey I been park before which took me like 5 mins dude come de call, just jeje ignored because dudes trip was even a card trip.

Pepper spray geng. That's my guy! grin
ndubuis:
Bro, it has nothing to do with ego. No one with ego does this business in the first place, let alone doing over 1500 trips. I have met the good, the bad and the ugly. At the end of the day, we are all humans and can't keep eating shit because of money or to avoid being judged.

We also have a duty to change our community the best way we can. Sometimes, force may be the only option left. If we just sit there and keep watching our fellow humans behave like animals and mistreat us, then our reason for existence becomes irrelevant by our inaction.

It doesn't make sense to keep serving a community that abuses you. You have to make an effort to keep it in check, the smallest of effort may go a long way. Using a whip on an adult may not be the best, it's on the extreme, but don't sit there and watch yourself being bashed just because you only have money on your mind.

As for pepper spray, it's my first line of defense and everyone should have it. You just have to know where and when to use it. If you arrest me unjustly and I see that my path is clear, I'll pepper spray you, push you out of my car and make a run for it. Lagos is not where you allow every Tom, Dick and Harry to ram you up and down.

Can you share with us what they said? Screenshot if possible.
ekehopp:
Bolt and Uber have both responded to my DM on Twitter. I asked them about resumption and onboarding of new drivers, as the world reopens after pandemic induced lockdown.

And based on their response I've decided to take my mind off Uber/Bolt till July. At least I've done my bit with full registration. Just for them to do thiers (training and activation/onboarding).

Advice on use of facemask the way you would advice The Governor, or a mentor if he/she was in your car.
Politely. You can even joke about it. Abeg no vex etc, police can give me wahala etc, plus its Uber rules etc
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by davit: 12:57pm On Jun 03, 2020
I concur. We just need more platforms to avoid all these issues with the few available.
I thought Mr Taxi was going to join early this year though. May be Covid don spoil their plan.
NYCnextStop:
You can never compare Uber with Bolt. Uber is miles ahead of other partners in the e hailing business.

The reason why Bolt seems to be better in Nigeria is because they fit the Nigerian system. Uber is just too rigid and hardly compromise and that is why Bolt has more riders and drivers.

So in totality, I think Uber is still the best but when it comes to making money, Bolt is king.

Any idea if Bolt has opened their offices?
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by davit: 12:38pm On Jun 03, 2020
I think this is one area Uber is better than Bolt. I wrote Bolt messages regarding riders claiming they didn't get guidelines about Covid precautions. Imagine them telling me they did when it is obviously not so. I wrote them again that riders have been giving low rating cos they won't comply with the guidelines. Bolt said I shouldn't worry. They will look into it. Rating kept falling until it got to 4.37. Na so Bolt yank me off indefinitely.

Please guys is Uber taking new drivers now?
NYCnextStop:
You did the right thing my guy.

Apart from your safety, you saved yourself from trouble. Imagine if police or LASTMA had arrested you for your rider not wearing face mask... I bet she would feign ignorance and let you bear the consequences of her action, as they would always assume it is your responsibility to remind your riders to use face mask.

As for the drivers that compromise their health and safety, it says a lot about them. For Uber, so long as you’ve written them, be rest assured they would work in accordance with the rules.

NB: I really don’t know why it is mostly girls from one hotel to another that give issues on this job... I mean all these girls that know nothing.
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by davit: 12:08pm On Jun 03, 2020
So many drivers are encouraging this. Reason they can tell you your own too much. Haba. Why put yourself in trouble cos of delivery money.

Ghost1994:
So my experience today.

Got the request from Ozone Yaba, on Uber.

Me: hello got ur request I'm on my way to pick you up
R. Okay no p I'm waiting
Me. Zooom... arrived "A.c. off" waiting for her to come out. After 2 mins waiting, she's finally out.
R. I'm going to Cele hope no traffic.
Me. Okay I'm starting the trip and I'll check if there's traffic or not.
While checking gmap, I was telling her to put face mask on and fasten her seatbelt.

She fasten her belt put her face mask on her lap.

Me. I'm already driving towards murtala way. Naso I noticed she didn't put her face mask on.

I was like with due respect young lady, kindly help me wear your face mask even if you can't wear it, just hang it on ur jaw.

R. Haha oga what's this nonsense you be novice on this job abi you don't know say while you're in the car, you don't need face mask.

Me. In my mind I was like "ewo tun leleyi" which kind witch be this wey village people and uber send come meet me for Wednesday morning?

R. Oga have never used face mask since beginning of covid19 and nobody try to arrest or say anything to questioning me even I took uber yesterday I didn't wear it. "Oga please stop correcting me and drive"

Me. Just kukuma turn back! On heading to her pick up point she started saying shit I never respond so far I didn't ask you to pay no wahala.

Me. As i reached the coded hotel where I picked her at the back of ozone naso mallam security been asked wetting happen? Aunty just be on phone saying check the number I sent you you've to do something with your drivers.

I don write uber before I dropped her so make she even call buhari which I obviously knows say na saka call she dey make I no send her mama.

So my question is that why some driver thinks only about money and not their safety? How's she doing it without wearing face mask and entering uber/bolt.

Please let's keep necessary precautions na who dey alive go pay HP and Rental.

#Stay safe
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by davit: 11:45am On Jun 03, 2020
Bolt rating is damn crazy. From 4.65 then I just dropped to 4.4 cos a rider wanted to sit in front without face mask and I declined. I guess the rider must have given me low rating after the trip. Na so I battle reach where I dey now. sad
lexylexy:
Baba, low rating never a big problem for me. That's why I like Uber's rating system. If you're on 4.75 rating, and a rider gives you a one star, your rating will only drop to 4.74. Unlike bolt where your rating can drop as low as 4.5.

And one Stars don't come everyday. Just once in a while

I hope you know that they may end up giving you low rating? They determine what rate you get. And some that you are even nice to might end up giving you low rating. That s how the system is structured.
lexylexy:
Thank you! I seriously don't understand why this is very hard for some people to understand. The customer is King!

Personally, I don't even check Rider's rating. That's not my business. Whatever your attitude is like, doesn't concern me. My own is to take you from point A to point B. If you abuse or insult me, I end trip. It's as simple as that.
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by davit: 1:11pm On Jun 02, 2020
You are correct bro. Only someone who has been there can better understand. It still beats my imagination why a rider with 1 star rating is allowed to make a requests whereas driver with 4.3 gets blocked.
pope191:
Like I said "I believe", I didn't say "I know or its absolute", programming may not necessarily m?affect everyone automatically at once, it all depend on the database ur data falls. Let's leave this as its just a beer parlour talk and we r both not crystal clear how they do their thing, but one thing we should agree on, is about them having a standard and we should know their standard as a driver. I don't know what being smart mean, to me that sound insultive, but I'll let it slide.

About being guilty and allowing riders with low rating. This is business and the riders seem to b d one holding the life of this business, not the driver nor bolt, they can switch with less discomfort, but it won't b that easy for bolt and drivers to do d same, so what's d essence of blocking riders hastily or is bolt ready to open cc for riders, where they can meet one on one to sought out things, do they even train riders in the first place? Think about that. So for guilty, I don't know what u r hitting at, I work with discretion, I'm sure you don't expect me to go for all trips or do you? Have you even been caught in situation where you have to cancel like 8 trips at interval, because you want to go offline or set destination trip, but the demand is too much and both won't let u do what u want to do?

Fact is bolt is just one crazy app both riders and drivers enjoy using, maybe cos of it substandard and like Charly boy show "Anything can happen".

Bro, no be small thing o. Even early in the morning,
some riders will be telling you put on AC. I have even been compromising but not without face mask. Even at that, they will still argue why they must use mask.
These are the people who don't even use AC at home o. Imagine a guy telling me last week that AC is number one priority for using ehailing. I con ask am sey what about moving him from point A to B. He said that one na secondary. Local man just gentle. cheesy
Parlee:
Got a trip this afternoon and got to riders location after waiting for 15 mins plus she comes out and I start the trip. Started driving off next thing she is like wont you turn the AC on, i said NO. She like why? I'm like you should have received an email about using AC from the app na. She's like she cant go without AC n i just jeje reverse for am open central lock end trip receive cancellation fee de go my own. Trip wey be card trip before lol Mad people everywhere oo

Abi na the foolish guy wey request yesterday, luckily I was at the beginning of his close so I called and told him and he said pls no vex give me 10 mins. Na so I start waiting game de read news for phone before I know 15 mins don pass, I call this guy again he say the same thing no vex I am already coming downstairs. Like play like play waited another 15 mins, 30 mins all together na so I start car reverse de go my own cancel the trip collect my 3h cancellation fee... dude called 5 mins later I didnt even bother to pick up again.

30k is 4,285 naira daily, you work Monday to Sunday.

Drivers would normally pay by COB Tuesday that's additional say 2 days, but with the present situation, we even had one just paying today and he is the last of 3 drivers.

Since partial lockdown commenced, we have bought 1 new battery, 2 tyres,1 shaft, gear seals ,2 oil changes and one is already complaining about linkages and ball joints.

How would you survive as an investor with loans to pay?

You dey mind the mumu rider. As if transfer is an option.
pope191:
Inbtw I find this on twitter, how we go settle this matter now? Bolt said no transfer, yet this rider get some high on her right to insult drivers for doing the wrong thing. Crazy world! When abnormal becomes the norm, we Kind of forget what is right or wrong.

I'm reasoning that too. Didn't finish my on boarding last year. Might need to go do another inspection be that. I hope they are open for business unlike Bolt?

And I just did reinspection with Bolt o sad
pope191:
This one is a bag of trouble, even if d rating humble her, I'm sure sometin still want to seek for fault in her. On d second tot ask someone doing life on both if he have another chance, what will he do? Surely I won't cancel *My reality* cry

Davit & NYC, hope deh have unblocked u guy, finally I'm left with no choice than to romance Uber

So is it a return trip?

You can reach me for further talk anyways. Please don't quote this. You can text me.
I will call you back.
Eizenburg:
Place is quite far and remote. The only sensible thing is to look at it as a return trip. Assuming the return leg of the trip ends at Maryland (at least you’d be back to civilization), total distance should be about 100km. Trip shouldn’t exceed 4hrs, 5hrs at most.

N10k seems to be a fair deal.

Now tell me this is a joke. Some riders are indeed fond of making this mistake. Reason I would tell at times when I start the trip the address shown on the app. I have had reasons to change address several times. shocked
