Muza: It doesn't shutdown all 3 cylinders all the time, it shuts 1, 2 and up to 3 cylinders depending on the power requirement. this makes the gas mileage of the V6 to be quite close to that of the 4 cylinder. Ok boss |
Car Talk › Re: Between The 2008/09 Toyota Camry (muscle) And 2008/09 Honda Accord (evil Spirit) by davo3286: 3:42pm On Sep 13, 2014 |
I would go for V6 of the Accord. One interesting feature about it is that it can automatically shutdown 3cylinders when you are cruising or going downhill, i.e the computer system disables 3cylinders when you don't need too much power and enables all 6cylinders when you need more power. To explain further. When you're at say 120km/h and you want to maintain it you don't need all 6cylinders because the car had already gained momentum and all you need is a little power to maintain that momentum. So the ECM/PCM shuts down/disables 3cylinders leaving 3cylinders active at that moment. This saves you fuel and happens without you noticing it. |
Politics › Re: ‘diarris God’ … And The Chibok Girls by davo3286: 3:00pm On Sep 13, 2014 |
[s] shegsky: In the beginning, way before “Diarris God O” hit the headlines, there was “God dey” or “Abasi do” — if you insist on using Efik, the only language that reaches up to the Heavens. (This is reference to how some AK folks automatically switch to Efik when praying or preaching. I always ask, “Doesn’t God understand Ibibio/Annang?”) While I have made copious use of the newest entrant into Nigerian lingo, I thought it was urban legend or at least the work of Dame Peshe’s detractors. Until I saw a full-length video of the event on YouTube the other day, I wouldn’t have believed that the most educated First Lady Nigeria has ever had would “blow such grammar” … at a public event no less! To be frank though, I’m not too disturbed by the “waka come” moments. After all, “English no be our mama and papa language.” I will therefore not waka go there at all! Of course, I appreciate the fact that it took “only” three weeks since 300+ teenaged girls were abducted from their dorm rooms for the country’s First Mother to call a meeting of other mothers to find out what had happened and how to # BringBackOurGirls. However, the First Lady’s unbridled and melodramatic outburst during the second of the two meetings was way over the top.
This is even more important when the (fake) tears are all that one has to offer in a tragic situation. Four months since the nationally … ahem … celebrated outburst, the Chibok Girls are still missing. The first meeting had ended with the declaration by Dame Peshe that “If by Sunday, these children are not released, we will march to Borno and the Governor of Borno will give us our children …” That was many, many Sundays ago. Tomorrow is another Sunday. Perhaps the “march to Borno” will finally happen, says the optimist in me.
One of those who may never be invited again to a Dame- Peshe event said something everyone had been thinking but was afraid to speak up. The key to ending the killing and abductions in the North East was to expose the sponsors of Boko Haram, she said. Nigeria’s security agencies are certainly not the best in the world, but even they must know who the moneybags behind Boko Haram are. At that event, hers was a lone voice. Recently, it was given fillip by the Australian, Dr. Stephen Davies, a man reportedly hired by the Federal Government to negotiate with Boko Haram for the release of the Chibok Girls.
But at least, we are fighting Ebola in the Southwest. At the last count, 17 people had tragically lost the fight against this super-deadly virus. I might be accused of trying to “create disaffection between the Nigerian people and their wonderful government” for suggesting that if similar fervour had been applied to the Boko Haramisation of the Northeast, the rag tag crazies who are “sharing the blood” of innocents in that region would have been history. This means that some 5,000 Nigerians would have been going about their lives (probably happy that they are far away from the Southwest and the reach of Ebola). For sure, the Chibok girls would have finished writing their School Cert Exams. Some would have furthered their studies while others would have entered the work force or gotten married (hopefully to their chosen sweethearts). Either way, it would have been their life to live. Reports indicate that some of the abducted girls have “waka come” from captivity (no thanks to their government) but nearly 200 are still missing. Isn’t it time we rescued the rest? # BringBackOurGirls. [/s] Rubbish! |

We, Nigerians, have a big problem. All we know best is how to complain about, curse and abuse, and criticize (without reasoning) almost everything, nothing more. Believe me, you will NEVER find them in topics like this. They are only interested in topics that put the goverment or a particular tribe in BAD light. This shows the type of people we have on NL. Most of them can't even chair a meeting or even be a class representative in their schools or lead their immediate families let alone a country. This is the type of topics that should be on front page but no it will nerver be because the Mods are not interested in any topic that doesn't divide Nigeria across ethnic/religious lines or abuse GEJ, PDP or APC.
Now, to your question. What I would do differently if I was the President, among other things, is ensure the total removal, if possible or reduce to the bearest minimum, all forms of discrimination amongst the various ethnic groups in Nigeria by removing from the constitution all clauses, phrases or statement that has to do with "State of Origin". This, i believe, is the cause of the many problems we have in this country. Because, according to Bob Marley, until the philosophy which holds one race (ethnic group) superior and another inferior, is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned, there will never be peace. |

shymexx: This is just absolutely shameful, and when you start telling them the truth, by critiquing based on the truth - the rabid attack dogs will start saying you hate the country.
Nigeria has been using Mi-35 for more than 7 years now. And it's an old attack helicopter. If you're going to modernise the Nigerian military, why not go for the Mil Mi-28, which is a better, and an all purpose one? Little countries like: Kenya, Angola, and Algeria have it. So, what's stopping Nigeria from doing the same? Also, for Boko Haram, it will be more effective than the Mi-35M.
And if they want to go for the kill, they should've gone for the KA-50.
These folks are just too corrupt. Abeg close ur mouth...ITK. |
Car Talk › Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by davo3286: 7:55pm On Sep 10, 2014 |
bimbor: How is the idle relearn procedure performed? It's quite simple. Although, every brand has its own procedure. This is for Honda. You must perform the idle learn procedure whenever you disconnect or replace your battery or after cleaning or replacing intake manifold and/or the throttle body or doing certain other jobs or even disconnecting the TPS harness for instance or when you replace sensors. Now, this is my understanding of the procedure and how I have been doing it. You can get more precise method on the web. IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE 1. Allow the engine to cool then make sure all electrical components e.g. A/C, lights, defogger, etc. are turned off. 2. Put the gear in "P" or "N" 3. Turn the ignition to "ON", wait for 2seconds then start the engine. 4. Step on the throttle, raise it to 3000rpm and hold it there until you hear the radiator fan come on or until the engine coolant or your temperature gauge reaches 90deg C. 5. After the radiator fan comes on, release the throttle (fully closed) and allow the engine to idle for 5mins. Do not turn on any electrical devises or systems during this 5mins period. Please note that if the radiator fan comes on again within the 5mins, do not count the period or time during which it's on as among the 5mins. For instance, lets say the engine had been idling for 3mins then the radiator fan comes on for say 2mins. Do not count the 2mins during which the fan was on. After this procedure the car engine should idle far below 1000rpm...somewhere between 600 to 800rpm (I'm not sure of the exact speed though...maybe around say + or - 750rpm) depending on the health of your engine. |

I can't believe you asked this kind of question...silly question I call it. madan: If schools are closed down to control the spread of this Ebola virus, what about churches, mosques and other social gatherings Or are children exempted from attending these places as well? If children still go to churches, go to mosques and go for other gatherings, I see no reason why schools should be shut down indefinitely, cos this is a place where these children will learn more about what EVD is all about and how they also can put up some little preventive measures. These kids cant be shut off from getting knowledge about what Ebola is all about. They can still contract the virus from churches, mosques etc apart frm school. We only need to educate them and monitor them well. If markets, offices, churches, mosques etc are still opened and people still board molue, danfo and still pack themselves up in buses then, we are still at risk. God forbid, when we start to get outbreaks in schools, it is the people like you that will come here to blame the government for not closing schools. Besides you cannot fully monitor children in schools, and you cannot compare markets and offices with schools. |
