Cindino20: Yea..I paid around 3500 in Feb or so..thats almost 260% increase in price..considering I used 90 bags or so...that brings in additional cost of 540 000 Naira...Truth be told...this is not sustainable..this is hyperinflation.

Dijita: In 1991 there was no Lekki. They call it Sand field at the time. Victoria Garden City was the big boys destination at the time. I think Sand field became Lekki during Abdulsalam to Obasanjo regime You're mixing it up. Lekki Peninsula has always been there, belonging to LASG/NTDA. The Sand Field you're talking about (Maroko) was demolished under Military Administrator Raji Rasaki, (1991) what we now call Oniru Estate Lekki Peninsula is on the left, Maroko/Sand Field is on the right From 1990-1999 Raji Rasaki (Military) Sir Micheal Otedola (civilian) Col Olagunsoye oyinlola (Military) Brig Buba Marwa (Military) Bola Tinubu (Civilian) |

Every time I am in Lagos island the memory always hunt me. The foolishness of my youth. I could have bought NEC or Goldstar(LG) for half the price and be watching that plot(with a 4 room face me face you) appreciating today Yoruba says, the money first made by small pikin, he will use it to buy Akara, then later realize he could have invested it |

megacontrol: What are the alternatives to achieving same or similar ceiling as POP? Gypsum boards?
With this volume of work you have, it may be worth it to explore if those are less impacted by price increase. May also be possible to collaborate with others to ship stuffs in.
If our builders can provide tips on how to work around this crazy POP costs we are witnessing currently. I think someone already did the analysis and said the Gypsum board is more expensive. I don't mind exploring. It's costing me ₦1,300,000 and I'll love alternative, which I can then screed |

1stNumeroUno: My Oga, the disparity in price of Cement indicates that the hike is not from producer(s). A dealer told me this week that the middle men/distributors are the ones driving this particular crazy price. He confirmed that prices is still N2300-N2450 from producer. Someone corroborated it on a forum this week that a friend of his has made over N10m from this 'madness'. So let's excuse the FG and talk to ourselves. We're bunch of greedy and callous people.
The government has its numerous shortcomings too o and we won't stop talking about them. Yes, it's the middle men doing this. My block producer confirmed same thing from Lafarge. Same old price. May God help Nigeria |
