been a while i posted here. DW is due for Oct 15 (Sex is XX). At the 2nd Trimester, Baby weight was barely 2KG and suddenly today baby weight is 4.8KG. What can DW be doing to reduce weight of lo biko

I will advise she checks another scan place to reconfirm. I am guessing she shld b abt 38weeks, give or take , so 4.8kg in utero no b moi moi ooo. ( dnt mean to scare u)
As dey say, genes play a major role in baby sizes, so possibly, dats her case or d scan may just b wrong.

B dat as it may, u can't reduce baby weight. She can only watch wat she eats and hope d lil one doesn't add so much more. Less carbs, cut down milo and d likes. Whatever b d case, she will give birth safely.
D Lord who perfected d conception will perfect d delivery.

While preggy for my first, after all my watching wat i eat, i did a scan at abt 38weeks and DS weighed 3.5kg. I was so happy cos family history of big babies dey.
Lo and behold , I gave birth at 38weeks 5days to a 4.6kg baby with gangsta tear! In just a week ,1kg added! Kai!!!Took a restitching session for it to properly heal cos d first set of stitches broke down... d memories ehn . Twas an unforgettable experience but looking at d boy now.... i'll do it all over again

So I went to register for my ds infant baptism and the catechist after collecting registration money of 7h said I can't baptise him with the name Zion that its has not been heard of and the name is too powerful that I should choose a saint name. Meanwhile a lady came also and registered her baby as Destiny. I asked him if Destiny is a saint name and he said it's Godly name.

Abeg una fit help me ask priests you are close to what is wrong in baptising my son with the name Zion, so I would know if the wahala is just the catechist. That's even what we already have in his birth certificate.

Catholic maamas no read pass me abeg.

Na so e dey b. I have friends who faced such . All dis "Favour", "Love", "Goodness" kinda names are not allowed lately.

An option u can use is to baptise with his native name. They will approve it especially if d name has "Chukwu" or names close to dat in meaning. U can ask d cathechist sha if dat will fly

I didnt use Dr V.A. it was Dr. K. Godwin of North Atlanta Ob-gyn. Different practice.

I paid before leaving naija through Form A. It was tough at first cos they kept insisting dey dont accept international transfers. I kept calling and calling till I sha got someone who gave me their bank details and d necessary correspondence. Wasn't a fun experience at d time though.

You may need to use google to get their contact and make d appropriate enquiry.

Just as zaynie said...go and chop! U need d strength for d 'work' ahead. Sometimes, dose scans are wrong and other times, baby's weight is based on genes.. U fit no chop anything during preg...next tin u go see na 4 pointer baby. If u hear my experience ehn....chai! It was not a funny something! I hear am!

Ultimately sha, ur body was made for this! Do not b scared.

Based on my experience, i will advise Golden cross. Bin using dem since 2000. In my opinion, dey are gud and have a relatively good gynae. D only issue is dat dem dey get crowd and u might sometimes feel like u dey general hospital and not private.

MCC at First gate is anoda gud one i have heard of though i neva use dem b4. Truly dont knw much about Emel

@Terminalia, I second Shawlar's suggestion.

It may b better u go for ur vacation as planned. When d time for maternity leave comes, ur HR will deduct d period spent from ur maternity entitlement. Den u can add some days off work without pay to make up.

Happens like dat in several organisations.

Pls mamas, my ds has been having this discharge from his right eye whenever he wakes up, i noticed it yesterday. Pls what can i use to treat it?

Just started lurking on this thread last month though i had my LO in Sept 16.
My first baby had dis eye discharge thingy. It was said to be an infection baby got from the birthcanal on his way out.
In addition to cleaning ur LO's eyes with clean cloth/ cottonwool dipped in saline solution, docs prescribed some eye drops which i cant confidently say worked.
Some mama's however, swear by dropping breastmilk in d baby's eyes, so u can try that since it is natural.

Note that the eye cleaning should be done from the inner corner to outer corner of d eye in one swipe. If u must clean more dan once, please change cottonwool or use another corner of the clean cloth to avoid re-infection. Nothing to worry about though

Thank you for understanding me better. Its actually my first trip to the US and its my first baby so everything ve been seeing on here has been like jibrish to me. If i go now I wud still be able to have my baby get the documents before the 6 months elapses as I am due in March. But i ll just do the former u advised. I ll go, come bck, then travel bck. When going on the second trip do I still need to send a change of intent mail to theembassy? Thanks a lot for your response.

I dont think it will hurt to send the mail. Its more like a notification of intent to birth in d US.

@Orestik, i can see ur dilemma, but wit d little i have learnt frm here, i think u shld consider some other things b4 u tow d line u r planning to:

Given ur due date, If u travel dis month and u r given the typical 6 months, will u have put to bed and completed baby docs b4 d date u r stamped in for expires? Wat if u say vacation and dey stamp u for a short period? Wat wil u do and hw can u explain dat u overstayed?

D ticket u bought , wen did u fix ur return for? I dey ask cos i think it is supposed to jive wit wat u will tell d CBP u r in d US for.

If I were in ur shoes, i will go for d vacation as intended, no mata hw short. Den u can make ur enquiries while u r dere, come bak and prepare for d main waka. ( dis is d more expensive alternative, bt it 'may' b safer)

D oda alternative is to bone d vacay, do ur research, send d change of intent letter, den do serious fasting and praying for God's favour and easy POE experience. ( risk plenty for dis arrangement; change of intent- may hold no water, future renewal- may b tougher etc)

Ultimately, d choice is urs.

D thing is, though agents can help wit d process, i decided to do it myself.
For the DIY own, i went to d post office to get money orders, one for $77 and d oda for $30. $77 money order should b physically mailed to Innovate1 services in Connecticut after d form has been filled on Immigration website and the money order details attached to d said form. Wen dey reciv and process, u will get an email notifying u to log on to d website to complete d process and print out the receipts u shld go with to d passport office.
U den go along wit ur baby,d $30 Money order and other requirements to d passport office for processing and capture. In my case , i wanted to pik it up immediately so i bought an extra money order for $65 to expedite.

I opened with Wells Fargo (na cheque from d bank Northside use refund me ). As a banker, I went with all d assorted things we ask for here in Naija, valid id, passport, Public utility receipt etc. D only tin wey i no do na to carry referees.

To my shock, i didnt even fill any form. Twas just an oral question and answer session, electronic signing,
id card submission and dat was all! Didnt take long.

Na savings account i open,, must have minimum balance of $300 else monthly service fee of $5 applies. Got online banking set up immediately and d debit card came in the mail 3days later

I didnt use epidural. In Northside, epidural does not form part of the hospital bill. It is billed differently

I showed all d tests I did and dey accepted it . Just dat HIV which dey said dey have to do in d thrid trimester and dat even if they dnt do it, Northside will and their bill may b higher. I just decided to kukuma do it dere. Wen I went to Northside on d day of delivery, I showed dem everything. Dey just made copies.

Paediatrician was Dr Athanasious. U can pm for his contact details make I no commit on d thread.

D refund na God ooo. I was misinformed about what constitutes hospital 2 days stay so I was doing everything to avoid staying longer . D fear of extra day bill was d beginning of wisdom. Turned out I didn't stay complete sef!

Circumcision - $217 after discounts

Paediatrician - Total after 3 visits nd Hep B vaccine $315

Bc took over 2wks ( Northside has "a lot of babies" like dey said)- $25

US passport -$165 . Came next workin day

Did naija passport and did d whole sending money order to innovate services and all. Expedited to get same day . Extra $65. Was soo fast. Did not spend more dan two and half hrs at their office b4 i picked it up same day. Total $172

SSN took 3wks

Air France - infant ticket $363. All my talk to come down on dat charge for a lap infant no work. Bt dey tried for me in baggage sha. I overshot d total approved weight for i and baby by abt 40lbs. Dem no collect extra money frm me for it.

Delivered my son at 38wks 6days on Sept 5th at Northside hospital. Endured early labour at home ( i no want false alarm sending home). In laws no want story, drove me to hospital even wen i still dey tell dem dat we can wait at home longer. Got to L& around 11:45am, gave birth 3:42pm.

We r doing gud and bak home. Doctor was God sent, Nurses were nice, general care, great

I pray d Lord will also grant safe and quick delivery to those still expecting their LO's.

I did not pay for epidural in the first place. Epidural was not included in the hospital bill. The way it works is that you pay the anaesthetics department after you have made use of epidural

Chei! U mean am? So what are they refunding u for? Abeg no vex for the cross questions. I am using North side too and i dont mind copying whatever u did that can bring about such refunds. In dis "uko dollar", dat amount is a whole lot!

Congrats on d supernatural delivery u had and the testimonies so far. It is d Lord's doing and i claim it also.

Applied for a US visa wen we started trying for baby number 2. D plan was to get it before preg, go for vacation, den later use it wen bellle shows. A wk after application, i discovered dat e don already happen. Meanwhile interview date still dey 3wks away and my passport na virgin passport. Friends n well wishers told me nt to talk abt being preg, some blamed me for nt waiting, eventually someone told me abt dis thread days to d interview.
Reading from page 1 pt 1was very tedious . I tried d much i could and handed over d rest to God. Went there blindly without knowing abt budget sheet, docs correspondence or anytin. Only took reference letter, payslips and statement. I was just like if d truth no set me free, den its just as well. Had in tow my hyperactive 17 month old who displayed so much dat one of d pple manning d line at d visa office had to move us forward make we do quick dey go. Pple just dey look us cos dey saw hw he was acting. Frm shaking d standing fan, to putting his hand in d fan blades wen i tried carrying him, to running around and refusing to b held.

Fast forward to POE experience im Atlanta. Came in at 35 wks yesterday. Line long like wetin i no knw. Was determined to form hard woman so nothing like wheel chair. Eventually got to my turn and after exchanging greetings
Cbp: what r u coming to the Us for
Me: to give birth
Cbp: i can c u were here earlier in d yr
Me: yes. Came for vacation with my son
Cbp: hw long do u intend to stay
Me : 2 months
Cbp: where will u b staying
Me: wit my sis in law and gave him d address.
Cbp: do u hav receipts n correspondence
Me: yes. I hand over d envelope. He opens the first two pages nd gives it bak.
Cbp. Alrite that is gud. Hw much casH?
Me : $8421 (tried to remember hw much d coins i had amounted to, culdnt)

Cbp: ok u r good to go ( stamps me in for 6 months and while handing over passport asks if i have foodstuff and tins lik chicken, live birds etc)
Told him i had some spices and packaged food.

After successfully paying North side via Form A, got 2k PTA from gtbank, submitted my medical forms @ Qatar office a week to my travel date. I felt I was ready to travel

Boarded Qatar airways @34 weeks. Wore my compression socks during the flight and walked around. Was lodged at the Airport hotel during the 9hour layover (my room was on point!). Almost overslept but thanks to the wake up call set by reception....hehehehehe.

The flight from Doha to Atlanta was 15 hours long but I was pampered by the cabin crew.

Arrived Atlanta, was on the queue for 35 mins and was interviewed by a middle aged white guy:

Me: Hello
CBP: Hello
CBP: Where are you coming from?
Me: Nigeria
CBP: Why are you here in Atlanta?
Me: To have my baby! (Smiling hugely)
CBP: So have you paid all your hospital bills?
Me: Yes but yet to pay the doctor's fee
CBP: How much cash do you have on you
Me: 2,000usd
CBP: He was surprised. So you are only here with doctor's money?
Me: of course not. Am with my Master card. I do not like to carry so much cash.
CBP: So you came all the way to America just to have your baby?
Me: Yes because its my first and I want the best healthcare for both of us.
CBP: Do you have any food
Me: yes. Garrison, Egusi, bitter kola, kolanut etc

He stamped me in for 6 months and sent me to agriculture. Throughout the encounter, I did not show him any evidence of any kind. The only document I held was my passport and customs declaration form.

At agriculture, no food item was seized. I was specifically asked for gala, garri and egusi. I said no to gala and yes to the others. My bag was opened after it was scanned but nothing was seized.

That's it folks. Chilling with my in laws and eating naija food....hehehe.

Abeg, how did u go about paying Northside via Form A. Dey have insisted dat dey dnt receive transfer. Pls advice

My sis is using Northside and she paid the hospital using Form A. However, the docs fee will be paid in cash as she does not accept wire Transfer.

Gave birth at Northside hospital. i give God the glory. my obgyn was Dr dodder she was so encouraging during all the pain and accurately predicted my labour day which was obviously different from my due date. nice huh!

Hospital bill advance pay -3550 got additional 226 bill ( They didn't explain much but i guess i would prefer to reject the nursery and ask more questions next time)

Epidural - 3000 with 25% discount 2250 (Didn't expect to pay this much, if i knew it would come down to this i would have chopped the pain like that lol. North side anesthesiologist which is separate from the hospital

Obgyn- used North Atlanta Obgyn - charged 2200 and used my Nigerian lab test which you have to insist on

pediatrician- used Children's care pediatrics, Dr John M. Thomas- first and second visit at the hospital cost 115 after discounts. subsequent visits were made which are at your discretion and you pay for each visit.

infant ticket -363 united airline paid over the phone (paying at the airport may b cheaper)
Us passport -105 plus 60 expedited ( if you have almost 3 weeks b4 you leave, just use the normal route. dont pay for expedited) my brother got his in 2 weeks one day.

Naija passport is cheaper than getting a visa. its 77 plus 30 processing fee. if you want it same day you pay 65 more.There are agents at the embassy that charge 28 to help you make payment. also go with a prepaid postage envelope if you want it mailed to you so you dont ve to go back for pick up and keep the tracking numbers.

Hep b vaccine can b taken at birth or at the ped. pls ensure you get yours.
