Tybk: Good evening Nairalanders. Admin pls approve this for front page for more reach.
Please I need matured, responsible and honest advice on this matter.pls pardon my long post and any errors.
I am a family man with wife and two young kids, married about 5 years ago. We were living in a rented apartment in the same city with my family house. My family house had just my dad and mom staying. My dad passed on and the house was almost deserted after the burial because my mom was always in my younger sister's (married) house in a nearby city.
I had to upgrade a few things in the family house and moved there at the expiration of our rent about 3 years ago.
Everything was going very fine because my mom was only around occasionally, sometime last year we had a terrible family issue that warranted my mom and younger brother to come back home fully.
Lately my wife has been complaining about my mom and brother which is only normal and expected. I am not always around because of work, I work offshore, 2 weeks in 2 weeks out in a nearby city.
I honestly don't know how to handle this situation because it's kind of absurd renting an apartment in the same location with my family house, since we are already established here , like children school and wife business.
Pls I need matured advice on how to navigate this situation before things go worse. My brother in the Lord, since your younger brother is with your mum and you are rarely at home... Please, get another apartment for your family for peace's sake! |

I agree with you on this... Even the married ones here do not give birth to as many children as the North. It is only a matter of time before the north will not need majority of the South to win even an election. |

Romance › Re: He Cancelled The Wedding Because I Missed His Father's Funeral… by dawnomike(m): 7:23am On Jun 07 |
AdisGlobal01: SHE_NEEDS_YOUR_ADVICE
My wedding was scheduled for March this year, but everything changed after my fiancé's father passed away unexpectedly in November.
His funeral was held just three weeks later, in December. I genuinely wanted to attend, but there was one major problem: my employer had a strict policy against granting leave during the December holiday period. When I accepted the job, this condition was clearly stated. Despite explaining my situation and pleading for an exception, my request was denied.
I informed my fiancé immediately. At first, he appeared understanding. I even contributed financially to support the funeral arrangements.
Then his mother called.
She told me that if I truly wanted to become part of their family, I had to be physically present at her husband's funeral. I tried explaining my circumstances, but she ended the call before I could finish.
When I called my fiancé afterward, I expected him to stand by me. Instead, he asked:
"If it were your own father, wouldn't you find a way to attend?"
I explained that the situations were different because my employer might make an exception if it were my immediate family member.
That was when he dropped the bombshell:
"No presence. No wedding."
I thought grief was speaking. I thought time would calm him down.
I was wrong.
The wedding was officially cancelled.
My family tried everything to reconcile the situation, but his family refused every attempt. Eventually, my father advised me to accept the loss and move forward with my life.
It broke me, but I did.
Months passed.
Then, on May 20th, my ex-fiancé called me.
What he said left me speechless.
According to him, I had failed the test of being a good wife because I stopped trying to convince his family after the wedding was cancelled. He said a "real wife" would have kept begging until she was accepted.
Then he announced that he had "forgiven" me.
Not only that, he had already chosen a new wedding date in August and expected me to start preparing immediately.
As if the breakup had never happened.
As if my feelings didn't matter.
As if he alone had the authority to decide when a relationship ends—and when it resumes.
Without hesitation, I told him I was no longer interested.
His response shocked me even more.
He said:
"I'm not done. You don't have the right to be done."
I blocked his number immediately.
But that wasn't the end.
A few days later, he appeared at my father's house carrying the bride price and all the marriage items he had previously rejected.
My father told him clearly:
"My daughter has moved on. As far as this family is concerned, she is no longer available."
Still, he refused to accept it.
Since then, he and his mother have continued calling, visiting, and pressuring both me and my family despite my repeated refusal.
Now I'm beginning to wonder:
Is this really about love, or is there something deeper behind their sudden determination?
What troubles me most is the mindset that someone can cancel a wedding, disappear for months, return when it suits them, and expect another person to simply obey.
I am now considering legal action because the constant calls, visits, and refusal to respect my decision are becoming disturbing.
My question is:
If someone ends a relationship, then later decides to "forgive" you and resume the wedding without your consent, would you see that as love... or as a dangerous sense of entitlement?
What would you do if you were in my shoes? Beware of marrying into that family!!! Run while you can... |

youdontknoe: Getting back to writing again. But hopefully I can stay anonymous while I pour out my heart.
Life is hard. And I am going through a situation that I don’t know if I can share with anyone in my physical world yet. But I need to share till the heaviness is gone.
Who am I? Someone who wished she could undo many things, especially the decision to get married.
I have googled divorce reasons more than 10 times today alone. I don’t even know if I am ok. No, I am not been physically or emotionally abused. I am not been cheated on. At least not that I know. I am just disconnected, tired and no one would really understand why I want to walk away from a 2 year marriage. Or maybe someone here will.
Let’s just say that there is no reason to rush marriage. But once you hit age 30, somehow the bells keep ringing everywhere around you and the pressure heightens. I wanted it. I wanted to marry for love, companionship and I wanted to choose. But, time was flying and someone came that felt right at the time and I genuinely was a good person. The person was overly in love with me. Or maybe it was the idea of me. A successful independent woman living life on her own terms. Somehow we started dating and in 9 months, we were married. And we were happy at the time. Or I was. Until we started living together.
We had counseling. So it wasn’t a matter of ignorance. But the foolish butterflies didn’t make me see road.
I guess from the very beginning I just settled. Settled for a quiet hush hush wedding. For someone who had always wanted a glam wedding, I didn’t have one. The other person just couldn’t be bothered and concluded that paying bride price was the only thing that signified marriage. We were not in the Nigeria so that happened in our absence. He wasn’t buoyant but I was understanding. I gathered money together. We had only 3 other people at the civil wedding. The plan was that we were going to go back home to throw the big party later. Never did and I’ve heard many times that it won’t be happening.
I thought marriage will complete me. No. It just drained me so much. I really understand the feeling... You need to both talk it out and both go back for counselling. |

Health › When Private Part becomes non-private... by dawnomike(op): 5:07pm On May 29 |
All the patient’s private parts are indeed widely exposed during a C-section. But please remember that your private parts are not really private to an OB/GYN or a urologist: they see them all the time on a daily basis, in all the shapes and sizes they come. And your OB/GYN should have seen yours well in advance, since you want the baby to be healthy
Not that private, indeed.
And yes, all the other people in the delivery room will see your private parts as well — the various nurses, OB/GYN(s), possible trainees, and least but not least: your spouse (who also should have seen them before). Not that private indeed, yet again.
But the view will be medical, and not of romantic nature: there will be some tearing, pushing and screaming, a lot of sweat, a placenta, possible excrements and a lot more. But there will also be a baby, and it will make you forget the medical staff that is staring at your genitals in awe, and posting images of it on Instagram. (A current practice.)
So forget about romantic fantasies, face the reality of childbirth, and concentrate on the little child that is about to be born. Because whatever song you will sing: there will be blood - And it won’t look pretty.

pestrolus2002: 🚨 HYPERTENSION IS NO LONGER AN OLD PEOPLE'S DISEASE — AND IT'S KILLING YOUNG AFRICANS SILENTLY
I see it every day in the hospital.
A 32-year-old. A 38-year-old. A 45-year-old. No warning. No symptoms they noticed. But dangerously high blood pressure.
This is the reality across Africa right now — and most people have no idea it's happening to them.
Why are so many young Africans developing hypertension?
❌ Excess salt & processed foods ❌ Chronic stress — financial, family, work pressure ❌ Little or no physical activity ❌ Poor sleep (often under 6 hours) ❌ Alcohol, smoking & energy drinks ❌ Skipping medical checkups for years
The dangerous part?
Hypertension is called the "Silent Killer" for a reason.
You can feel perfectly fine — while it quietly damages your heart, kidneys and brain.
By the time these symptoms appear, damage may already be done:
⚠️ Persistent headaches ⚠️ Dizziness or blurred vision ⚠️ Chest tightness or pain ⚠️ Unexplained fatigue
And left untreated, hypertension leads to:
💔 Stroke 💔 Heart failure 💔 Kidney disease 💔 Sudden death
The good news? You can protect yourself — starting today.
✅ Cut down on salt and processed foods ✅ Move your body — even 30-minute walks count ✅ Prioritise 7–8 hours of sleep ✅ Manage stress (prayer, rest, hobbies — they matter medically) ✅ Reduce alcohol; stop smoking ✅ Check your blood pressure regularly — even when you feel fine
As a doctor, the one thing I urge you to do this week:
👉 Go check your blood pressure. Today. Not tomorrow.
It takes 5 minutes and could save your life.
💬 Have you checked yours recently? When last did you visit a doctor? Drop your answer below, I read every comment.
📌 Save this. Your future self will thank you. 📤 Share with someone you love. You might save a life today.
➕ Follow Dr Adekunle Adeyemi for honest, practical health advice that works for you.

gentlekeny: Nigeria’s Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu resigned from office to chase his dream of becoming Governor of Oyo State under APC.
Then reality switched off the transformer. 🔌
After the party primary, his opponent was declared winner with a thunderous 576,000 votes.
Shocked by the jumbo figures, the Minister rushed to verify the APC membership register in Oyo State… only to discover the party had about 157,000 registered members.
Suddenly, the man who supervised estimated electricity billing discovered the meaning of “estimated figures.”
Now he’s crying foul, alleging the primary election results were estimated to rob him of victory.
Dear former Minister of Power, Nigerians remember how your ministry perfected the dark art of estimated billing: Pay for light you never saw. Band A, Band B, Band C discrimination. Premium tariffs for blackout packages.
For years, citizens complained while electricity companies handed out fantasy invoices like wedding souvenirs.
Today, politics has served you your own prepaid estimated karma.
The same “estimated system” that drained Nigerians has now allegedly short-circuited your governorship ambition.
Some say EFCC may even be calculating estimated charges already.
Nigeria remains undefeated.
And the rest of us? We laugh in estimated laughter. 🤣🤣🤣 Lol... Reading this your epistle this early morning made me smile |

Career › Re: My Experience Working With My Boss ,was I Wrong To Quit? by dawnomike(m): 10:08am On May 25 |
Softsnare: **My Experience Working With My Boss Was I Wrong to Quit?**
I got a job in early April. The scope of the job was for me to be the Admin Officer/Manager of the company. I am the only staff working directly with the CEO or Managing Director, as I prefer to call her. She employed me to bring her ideas into reality.
What we basically do at the company is this: we run a crypto academy, we have a 50-seater space we rent out for seminars and programs, and we also manage an NGO.
When I resumed, I submitted a blueprint outlining how I planned to help the office succeed. However, from the very first day, she never read it. She kept saying she did not have time to, and that continued through the entire first month.
From my second week, I began to notice changes in my boss's behavior specifically in the way she spoke to me. For context, I am 31 years old, married with two kids. I was previously a freelancer, working on Fiverr and Upwork, and I was earning good money until my Fiverr account was blocked and my Upwork account was suspended. I decided to step out and find something to do rather than sit at home idle.
That was when her attitude began to shift. She started speaking to me very unprofessionally. The first incident that stood out was when she asked me to retrieve something from her fridge. I could not find it, so I went back to inform her. She told me to check again. I did, and it still was not there. When I reported back to her, she said and I quote *"Israel, once I get there and find that item in the fridge, I am going to slap you."* She said this in the presence of 12 men we were having a meeting with, including two prominent pastors. I said nothing. I simply smiled and let it go.
Not long after, my wife gave birth to our second child. I informed my boss, and she attended the naming ceremony, which I genuinely appreciated. However, to this day, she has not given us any gift.
Now, the issue is this: she employed me as an Admin Officer to manage the company, not to perform secretarial duties, run personal errands, or act as a messenger. She frequently sends me to the market for things she could easily handle herself. Beyond that, I handle all the printing, typing, graphics design using Canva, and all social media posting. I essentially do everything that needs to be done in that office.
The problem is that she has no understanding of how long tasks take. She expects designs to be completed in under 15 minutes. She would give me an instruction and say, *"I don't care how you do it, just get it done."* She never gives me the opportunity to explain timelines or constraints. Anytime I tried, she would tell me to keep quiet and leave her office. She also occasionally sent me pictures of documents and expected me to print them out as clean, professional originals which is simply not possible. I sometimes had to completely redesign documents from scratch just to make them presentable.
There is also a financial issue. On top of my official duties, I have been spending my personal money — not my salary on office expenses. She would ask me to purchase things for the office or buy food when guests visited, and I would pay out of pocket with the expectation of being reimbursed. Over time, this left me financially drained.
After my child's naming ceremony, I sent her a WhatsApp message reminding her that she owed me money, and asked if I could receive part of it so I could get home. She responded that we would talk when I got to the office. The truth was, I had no data on my phone and no transport fare. I had already told her before leaving the office the previous day that I was financially down and might not be able to resume the following day. She acknowledged it and said we would discuss it later.
She never called. The next morning, around 8:30 AM, she called me and asked why I was not in the office. I reminded her that I had explained I had no transport. She then began to yell at me. She called me "very stupid" and asked why I hadn't called my father, my mother, my sisters, or even begged my wife for transport money. Every time I tried to respond, she cut me off and told me to keep quiet, saying that when she was talking, I was not to speak.
She brought up the fact that she had paid my salary the previous month 70,000 Naira. What she does not acknowledge is that I live in Maraba and the office is in Utako. My transport costs alone come to approximately 60,000 Naira per month, which means my net gain from this job is only 10,000 Naira. Despite this, she has refused to hire any of the candidates who came in for interviews, claiming she cannot pay salaries above 70,000 Naira. As a result, I have been covering multiple roles on my own.
She then claimed she had overpaid me the previous month. When I asked how, she said it was because she had bought me food and attended my child's naming ceremony. I responded calmly, telling her that buying me food was her own decision I never approached her saying I was hungry. And attending the naming ceremony was equally her choice. Neither of those things constitutes a salary overpayment.
She has also made comments about my wife's pregnancy that I found deeply inappropriate. On several occasions when I could not complete a design within 30 minutes, she would say things like, *"Israel, you are slow. Is it because your wife gave birth? Am I the one who asked your wife to give birth?"*
After enduring all of this, I finally spoke up. I told her that regardless of my position, she had no right to speak to me in the way she had been. I told her the truth firmly, but without insults. She said no one at my level had ever spoken to her that way. I told her I was speaking to her that way because I was being honest with her. She then said she was done. I responded that I was done as well and that I would not be continuing in the role.
There is one more thing worth mentioning. I had built a landing page for the company and billed her 150,000 Naira, which covered the cost of the premium package, domain registration, and all related expenses. The day after I launched it, she brought her daughter to sit beside me and had me walk her through everything every purchase, every step of the process, and all payment receipts. I cooperated fully and showed them everything.
So I am now bringing this to Niralanders for honest feedback. I will not pretend I stayed silent throughout I did speak back. But I did not insult her. I simply refused to be spoken over and stood my ground for the first time. I told her she had never once given me space to explain myself, and that every time I attempted to, she shut me down.
My questions are simple: **Was I wrong for speaking back? And was I wrong for quitting on the spot?** Please, no matter what happens... never ever go back to that Job. |

So about three weeks ago I wanted travelling so I didn't have anyone to look after her. I decided to keep her with her dad pending when I come back. So I called the father to let him know. I live in Port Harcourt and he lives in Delta. So I took her to the paternal grandparents house so he can pick her from there not knowing he already planned with his elder sister so my baby girl can stay with her. We argued about it and I just decided to let things be.
Then I picked my daughter about a week ago and when we got home I wanted bathing her, I observed if I try to wash her down there she'll cry then I knew my fears has been confirmed. I decided to question my baby girl because I've always taught her that no one should touch her down there. My little girl told me the aunt's husband used to ask him to suck his tongue and vice versa... I believe my little girl. Now! I told the dad but he's not believing me... I plan on taking her to the hospital tomorrow for check up. What kind of a father won't believe his little girl rather he's saying I'm the one lying. I don't know what to do honestly.
