Dora Akunliyi - A Wolf Finally Putting Off Its Sheep Clothing « on: April 29, 2009, 08:34 AM »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A year ago, I would have laid down my life in defence of anything and everything Mrs Dora Akinluyi does. She was my mentor, my role model. To me she was the epitome of everything good. Courageous, eloquent, smart and God-fearing, she was my hero.
But listening to Dora's comments, in news this morning, on the Ekiti saga. All my admirations for her evaporated. I had started having doubts about her since she accepted the position of Information Minsiter. Now all of my doubts are confirmed. Mrs Dora Akinluyi is just like every other politician in the country, self serving, greedy and ready to do the biddings of her masters (regardless of the implication of such deeds).
Mrs Akinluyi murdered the character of the Resident Electoral Commisioner for Ekiti state. It was simply a show of shame.
Personally I feel let down. One of my 'larger than life' heroes has fallen flat to the ground. Maybe there are just no super humans. Maybe deep inside we all the same - selfish, greedy and heartless.

Re: I Pity Dora « #10 on: December 06, 2009, 06:14 PM »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why is it that when the Government seems to want to make some kind of partially credible revelation, Segun Adeniyi seems to grant such press confrences. But when a controversial Government statement is to be made Dora Akunyili is chosen.
I feel so sorry for her because she does not seem to know what they are doing to her, she seems to do these things always shinning her eyes.
I love the woman and I hope she quits. She has already destroyed herself, being a spin doctor in Yar'adua's colourless Government is the toughest job in the world and she should not have taken up the job. |

I am not condoning Kanti's behaviour and his lines of questioning, but for all of these Dora apologists and supporters, question to you guys is how well did Dora handle or perform as the Information minister? When a minister of Information comes on National TV to lie to the whole country. Doras supporters would say we should forgive her for MISinforming the country. Should we say the same for Maurice Iwu and IBB too? Check this thread https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-362608.0.html |

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Bayern Munich Vs Man Utd [2-1] On Tues. 30th, March 2010 by dayokanu(m): 7:11pm On Mar 29, 2010 |
Manchester United now stand between Munich and their first semi-finals appearance since winning the trophy in 2001. “We’re delighted to be in the last eight, but the players and I want more,” Louis van Gaal declared before the home meeting with United in front of a 66,000 full house at the Allianz Arena.
“We’re really looking forward to the United game. It’s always tremendous against the really big teams,” confirmed keeper Jörg Butt. Saturday’s defeat to Stuttgart has been consigned to history. “We’re looking to the future,” the 35-year-old added. “The Champions League is a different competition. What’s happened in the last league game counts for nothing,” said captain Mark van Bommel on the eve of Bayern’s 350th game in Europe.
The Bayern camp is buzzing with determination ahead of the clash with the favourites. “We’ve proved we’re a decent side in the games against Juventus and Fiorentina. Now we’re up against the top level, and it’s a massive challenge,” Van Gaal observed. “We need to show how far we’ve come on as a team,” commented Philipp Lahm.
History favours Bayern, who have lost only one of seven meetings with United, although that was the dramatic last-gasp defeat in the 1999 final in Barcelona. The current United squad features four men from that era, namely Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Wes Brown and Ryan Giggs, who made a sparkling comeback at the weekend from a long lay-off with a broken arm.
Schweinsteiger suspended
The Premier League champions will be at full strength in Munich, but the home side cannot yet call on their first-choice line-up. Mario Gomez resumed the team training programme on Sunday after recovering from a ruptured calf muscle, and Martin Demichelis, who suffered multiple facial fractures while playing for Argentina four weeks ago, appeared as a late sub against Stuttgart wearing a protective mask. Gomez is likely to begin on the bench, but Demichelis could start.
Bastian Schweinsteiger, out of the match with suspension, will be a hard man to replace “Bastian’s very important to the team. Losing him for such a crucial match is a blow,” acknowledged Lahm. Van Gaal declined to confirm who would play instead of the Germany international alongside Van Bommel in central midfield.
No risks with Robben
Arjen Robben is still rated doubtful after straining a calf muscle at the end of Saturday’s Bundesliga fixture. “We need a player like Robben against United and we’ll do everything we can, but if he’s not 100 percent fit, he won’t play,” said Van Gaal. “I don’t want to take even the slightest risk. He’s not injured, but the muscle is tired.” If Robben fails to make the squad, the hopes of the Bayern faithful will rest more than ever on Franck Ribéry. The France star has made two substitute appearances in the last week, and could start on Tuesday for the first time since the Round of 16 return against Fiorentina.
Ribéry could provide the inspiration up front, but the real focus will be on Bayern’s defence, as keeping a clean sheet at home is so crucial in Europe. “We must keep our shape and work hard as a defensive unit. We have quality in attack, we’re always good for a goal,” said Lahm. “We actually don’t need to win. A goalless draw would be a decent result,” Van Bommel insisted.
FCB know they will need to be on peak form to make the semi-finals at the expense of United, who are unbeaten in their last 16 Champions League away fixtures. Van Gaal is well aware of that. “We can spring a surprise against anyone,” the Bayern boss declared: “We’re not yet a top team at the very highest level, but in a single game, we’re capable of getting a result.” http://www.fcbayern.t-home.de/en/news/news/2010/22879.php?fcb_sid=d8c1236cd7c58b1858d112db5ec05cda |

Na league goals we dey compare Dayo. . . . not Season goals. Berbatov has not started 90% of the games out of the EPL so slow your roll. U were quick to dig out all the games played this season. . . . .why not add international goals with it and see who is who? How lame. The 37 appearance berbatov has for Manure this season is for which club? Fulham or Yeovil Town? Robben dis not start most of the games, Gomes played as a sub in most of those games yet they have outscored SLEEPWALKING Berbasulk Did Berbatov play International games for Manure? 10 Bundesliga goals = 1 EPL goal. Your league is a grade B league until UEFA replaces Serie A with Bundesliga. Surely, you don't expect anyone to equate goals scored in Bundesliga with EPL. AT The last time, Goals from BL carry as much weight as goals from EPL, Spain or Italy. 10 Bundesliga goals = 1 EPL goal. Evidence pls. Roque Santa Cruz. Highest goal scored in a BL season = 5 Highest goal scored in an EPL season = 19 Therefore 4 EPL goals = 1 BL goal Proven with stats. FACT is Berbasulk is a walking corpse, He is the laziest player in the World |

We are not one to Brag before the game. We do our talking on the field.
Play for a conservative 1-0 at Allianz since we would be missing Schweinsteiger and Robben and Gomez, Demichelis are doubtful.
But at Old Trashford we would Unleash the fury of Olic. ROBBen and ribERY plus Schweini in the middle.
It sure looks nice to stick it in front of your fans at OT |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread! We Are The Red Devils! by dayokanu(m): 6:02pm On Mar 29, 2010 |
And yet he's scored more league goals than all the relics in Bayern Munich. That list includes Robben, Gomez, Klose and Olic. It's ironic that the slowest forward in United has more goals than Bayern's best player. Berbatov 12 goals 35 games 0.34goals/game Mario Gomez- 14 goals 37 games 0.37goals/game Arjen Robben 13 goals 26 games 0.5goals/game Even 20yr old Thomas Muller in his rookie season has 13 goals already. All 3 Bayern players are in their first season so can still be said to be acclamatizing(The same excuse they gave for Berbasuck last season) while PERPETUALLY SEDATED Berbasuck is already in his second season and cant be said to be acclamatizing again |
