European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Which Football League Is The Best In The World? by dayokanu(m): 5:04pm On Nov 05, 2011
Reference:
EPL of course, if we are talking about the sum of all parts of a league, players, technical, officiating, administration, revenues, profitability, publicity, drama, etc.

It is the league that attracts the highest foreign investment with even league one teams in ownership from half the world away.
Foreign investment? Dont you think some league are not that lax about allowing foreigners to own clubs? Do you think anyone would ever sell Madrid, Barca or Bayern to foreigners?
Practically every top coach wishes to handle EPL teams and most that have journeyed away wish to return. If I'm not mistaken it boasts of the longest serving active coach of a regular title contender.
The longest serving coach means the league is not competitive. How can you have a coach for 25yrs?
In La liga, Capello won the league he was sacked, Schuster won the league he was sacked, Rijkaard won the Champions league he was sacked Its EPL you can have a coach like Wenger who hasnt won anything for 6yrs and still has a job, WHAT A USELESS LEAGUE
Go and google about Guy Roux who coached Auxerre for 45yrs so we can say French league is the best?

Most players who leave even in the twilight of their careers move onto better things due to quality care.
Every footballer in a top league makes a lot of money and go on to do better things with their lives

No other league boast of broad based quality. EPL teams dominate Euro CL and Europa Cup competitions to the latter stages and finally,
Tell me which EPL team has dominated Europa? I can tell you Sevilla, Atletico, Valencia have won UEFA cup which EPL team has won recently

The EPL is one long 9 - month soap opera. There's drama week in week. Madrid, Barca or Bayern scores six - so what. United, City, Pool, Arsenal or Chelsea scores four and discussions block communications all week.
One can go on and on and the best of all with the recent results it appears the gods of soccer appear to be smiling on them. Best package by far.

EPL is a 9months soap Opera and which soap Opera a league that is most predictable. Its always Man Utd winning everytime.

Why is it that every EPL stars dream is to play in the La Liga Thheir best players always come to La Liga and not the other way round check

Beckham, Henry, Owen, Ronaldo, Fabregas etc, An EPL star is not fulfilled until he plays in La Liga. Why didnt Figo, Zidane Ronaldo, Xavi go to EPL.
I have always thought the Epl is unquestionably the best but the la liga guys are actually putting in a strong argument that can make one re-think and examine the issue. I still think the Epl is the best and you can prove me wrong with right arguments. (1) The Epl has a large number of followers especially in england. Hardly can u see an empty stadium in the epl. Even teams that are on the risk of being relegated have a large number of fans.
PJames

1. The La Liga also has a lot of followership and

(2) the epl has a lot of youth acadamy that can boast of being succesfull. Although barca's academy might be the best in the world but there are many good ones in England eg. That of Arsenal and Southampton.
talking about academies England probably has the worst academies in the world.

Compare their academy products to La Liga and lets see. Tell me how many WPOTY EPL academy has produced

Compare their academy products to Xavi, Raul, Iniesta, Fabregas Torres, Messi etc

(3) the Epl is full of surprises. Very strange things happen in the epl like the thrasing of arsenal and man utd by man utd and man city respectively, the victory of arsenal over chelsea, the comback of newcastle last season against arsenal who are leading 4 nil. (newcastle got a draw). The relegation of brimingham that won the carling cup, the decisions of the match officials among others.
3 . Every league is full of surprises. Last season Hercules beat Barca at Nou Camp, Levante beat Madrid

(4) the epl can boast of about 8 teams who are capable of doing well in europe unlike laliga that can boast of about 4 or 5 teams.
4 You said the EPL has 8 teams who are capable of doing well? Name them and tell us their achievements in Europe in Recent times

La Liga has Barca who has won the CL, Real played semi finals in 2011, Villreal played Semi finals in 2006, Valencia played the finals in 2001, Atletico madrid who won Europa cup in 2010, Sevilla who won Europa cup in 2006 and 2007, Valencia who won UEFA cup in 2004, Espanyol who played Europa cup final,

That means Barca and Real won the CL, Valencia played the finals, Villareal played semi, Atletico, Sevilla, Valencia won the Europa

(5) why do u think players just coming to the epl struggle at first. Football is more difficult and demanding in England. The pace is just electrifying.
Fernando Torres a useless striker from La Liga came to the EPL and scored over 20 goals in his first season,
Aguero who is an average La Liga striker is topping the scorers chart in England right now, Mata is dominating Chelsea now, The current best player in EPL now is David Silva who was just an above average La Liga player in his days.

(6) if barca and madrid are to come to the epl, they may not win any trophy the first season bcus its small teams like stoke, everton, newcastle, west brom that will make them lose points. For people claiming the two best players in the world are at spain. I agree but the best league can't be determined just like that. If the wealthiest person on earth is a Nigerian, does that mean Nigeria has the best economy in the world. The epl has its own stars-rooney, silva, lampard, mata, v.persie, etc. These players can't be written off as they have their own strengths. Then a lot of football stars have played and developed in the epl. Stars such as henry, c. Ronaldo, beckham, lampard, gerrad, micheal owen, viera, pires etc. Have played in the epl before. There are also a lot of good coaches in the epl. The quality of the matches are also good. I think the epl is the best.
Can you list the 8 EPL teams like that and their performances
Those players who claimed are stars ofthe EPL how do they compare to LaLiga stars like

Zidane, Rnaldo, Rivaldo, Figo, Kaka, Messi, CRonaldo. Between those players you have 11 World player of the year award. In the EPL you have 1. Now compare anyone to Xavi, Iniesta, Ozil, Di Maria

If those Van Persie, Henry and Beckham are what you call good players then La Liga have Gods

trophies won while participating actively.
Pedro won a trophy while participating actively in the last 2 years Ronaldo hasnt won. Means Pedro is better?

look at the fifa ranking now.
argentina have been going out of competitions in the semis either in copa or world cup.
Same with Brazil you placed ahead of them.

gomez is not great for club.
he has won nothing for his club on the continent. ronaldo and messi have done that conveniently.
A strikers goal is to score its left to your teamates to do their part. If Gomez scores 3 goals but van Buyten and the keeper contrives to concede 5 goals, How is that Gomez business.?

Ronaldo hasnt won the league or CL in Madrid, Can we say till now he has failed and inferior to pedro, Zlatan and Villa? Gomez does his own part which is scoring. Its left to other players to do their own.

villa has won for barcelona in the continent
villa has won euro 2008
villa has won the world cup
Simple question How many goals does he score for his club in European competitions?

what a profile!!!

healy, karimi, ndoram have won nada for either club or country on the continent.
Villa won in the continent by being a mere squad member and one of the least important members of the first 11

he has not failed yet to score 20 goals for his club in the last 10 seasons.
How many goals has he scored in the CL and Europa cup all his career?

they have all won in the continent
Just like Djimi Traore, Steve Finan, Djibril Cisse, Goran pandev, Carlos Alberto, Alenichev, Costinha, Oleguer, Wes brown, Rio Ferdinand etc

uefa organised competition at club level is not the yard-stick!
Kindly enlighten me on the metrics to measure a players/strikers performance at the club level? Maybe you should use Davud Healys performance for country to evaluate him too.

brazil
germany
spain
italy
holland
Holland ahead of Argentina on what basis?

gomez is van nistelrooy for club but chamakh for country
Shares a similar profile to Messi and Ronaldo Great for club, mediocre for country. must be a honour.

Villa shares a similar profile to David Healy, Ali Karimi, Japhet Ndoram etc

he plays on the left wing for barcelona to accommodate messi.
As a result of his uselessness. A 40m striker who cant score in 18 straight games should be compared to Chukwu Ndukwe

uruguay - copa winners
david villa - champions league winner
rooney - champions league winner.
How many goals did the score in for their clubs? has any of them scored 30 goals for clubs?

villa is 5 times the striker gomez is. who is gomez?
I dont do conjectures bring evidence and preferably hard stats of goals scored in UEFA organised tournament at club level.

messi and ronaldo play for argentina and portugal respectively.
you wouldn't say these two countries are much of a football giant - they always struggle to qualify for tournaments unlike germany.
Argentina not a football giant? What wont I hear from you. Name 5 top footballing countries in the world and lets see how it would exclude Argentina.

hehehe.
spain's all time goalscorer is not better than vassel.
i love that comparison, dayokanu.
Performance for club. No one cares how many goals David Healy scores for country.
OK lets put it right, Villa is Pele for country but Vassel for club DEAL? grin

they are not out n out strikers for their respective clubs.
both have won in elite europe - both have scored in a champions league final.
Out and Out? Why not Out and In? Is that the excuse for the abysmal failure of David Villa? A striker who went 18 games without a goal last season?

a feat that evades mario "gabonese turkey" gomez
What should we now call David Villa, Luis Suarez and Rooney? Ugandan Lizards?

so it's all about the champions league, right?

villa - 50 goals in 80 games for spain.
gomez - 21 goals in 49 games for germany.
So in summary in clubside footbal Gomez is twice the striker Villa is? Agreed?

Not a bad thing cos Messi, Ronaldo etc are exceptional club players but mediocre for NT

gomez is not even better than peter crouch. grin
As a club player Villa is not better than Darius Vassel.

uefa organised tournaments? this is the only competition in the world.
has gomez scored 30 league goals once in his career?
Has David Villa, Rooney etc ever scored 30 league goals in their entire career?

Do you know the number of unemployed graduate out there right now? try go for Job test and witness the crowd!
I am a Nigerian, Went to school in Nigeria, and workedin Nigeria.

Some of those pictures are extremely exagerrated. I went to the most notorious school for Aluta in Nigeria which is OAU, I went for NYSC I hustled on the street got a job and did all that.

The last money I got from my parents was my transport fare to Bauchi for NYSC. My parents were civil servants and not rich in any sense of it. I had 3 younger ones who needed my parents attention more than me so I had to hustle for myself

he's not failed yet to score 20+ goals in a season in the last 10 seasons or so.
can any german player beat that record?
Lets dig ut their numbers.

David Villa has started 31 CL games and has scored 15 goals in his whole career. Goal/Start ratio of 0.48

Mario Gomez has started 18 CL games and has scored 17 goals in his whole career Goal/start ration of 0.94

David Villa has started 15 UEFAcup/Europa cup games and scored 6 goals in his whole career Goal/Start ratio of 0.4

Mario Gomez has started 9 UEFA cup/Europa cup games and scored 8 goals in his whole career Goals/start ratio of 0.88

Men lie women lie stats and Numbers dont. This clearly shows that Gomez is twice the striker that Villa is.

thanx for admitting that.
so i will start taking bundesliga serious from next season. when mario gomez was scoring those goals, bundesliga was a b-rated league.
qed!
Stats in UEFA organised tournaments are up there for you to peruse. You can bring any other striker not named Messi and Ronaldo and compare their stats. Bring Rooney, Villa, Suarez and they would be slaughtered.

and what has muller done since then? nothing!!!
that's the curse of the german players. they are only decent in the german national team. in club football, they are useless
