The mentality of the average nigerian has changed now compared to those days. Moreover, it was idiagbon that made those changes effective not Buhari.
Corruption cannot be totally removed but it can be reduced by true federalism.
What do you think would happen when a president comes tries OBJ, Anenih, IBB, and those politicians at the top for corruption thereby handling them long jail terms.

You still think anyone would have the liver to take $16b from the nation coffers for Power project and not even clear the bush on the site?

We have to be honest with ourselves here. Buhari or GJ cannot do IT! it's the system that supports corruption and that system of doing things needs to be changed.
So how can the system be changed? How did people who used to be rowdy at busstop in October 1983 suddenly knew they had to queue up in February 1985?

How did a man who saw nothing bad in Literring his environment in November 1983 suddenly knew it wasnt right for him to liter the whole place 4 months later.

A president like Buhari would do this, Not GEJ whose friends are the gathering of most corrupt in Nigeria history.

His Campaign manager in the SS: Tony Anenih has been getting the contract for Benin-Ore road for how many yrs without doing nada?

the catch is where will you find such a person in our midst?secondly do nigerians as individuals really believe in the system so as fight corruption amongst themselves for the greater good for the country?
I believe Buharui can do it. His stint at a Military President was way different from other Military rulers.

At that time all corrupt politicians were jailed, even people started behaving more responsibly

Remove corruption from our system and 90% of the issue is solved.

We spent $16b on Power and got darkness. Only in PDP, Only in Nigeria

The sentiments on Nairaland is getting too much and supporters of the opposition are becoming too sentimental.

When did it suddenly become PDP that is the problem, pls can anyone tell me that al states controlled by the opposition are better than all states controlled by PDP.

I dont and wont hold brief for PDP, but a lot of us on this forum are making a mistake and they want others to join them in their band wagon style mistake.

Why should I blindly vote a Buhari ACN combination against the PDP, is Buhari actually better than GEJhuh

Why is it that all of a sudden everyone realises that Buhari is incorruptible, when he contested against Obj in 2003, why did you guys not clamour for him evn in 2007 he was unable to beat Yaradua and if yaradua's election had been nullified and they were asked to go for a rerun Yaradua would ahve trounced Buhari without batting an eyelid.

I have reason to believe that ethnicity is becoming a real incentive to those advocating for ousting the PDP.

I have posited that it is wrong to think that sacking PDP will solve all our problems as a nation, just like we thought that asking the military to go would solve all our problems, guys look back to the period between 1995 to 1999 didnt all these professional opposition to government feed us the belief that the exit of the military would lead us to paradise, 12 years after the exit of the military they have found a new enemy the PDP, what will happen if ever Buhari or Ribadu gets there, these same people will be dienchanted if they do not have access to the booty as they expected or they would be part of the artrangement sharing the booty.

I am not against the opposition coming together but then we are making a big mistake if we think that once we sack PDP from the presidency our woes are over, in my humble opinion, who ever leads at the Local Government levels os more important than who becomes president, the members representing us at our various local councils and state assemblies are more important than who will be in Aso rock after MAy 2011, the govs and senators are more critical to our development as a nation.

We accuse Goodluck of sharing N1tr to state govs just to get their support, are the opposition states not part of the share, what have they done with their share of N1tr, what is the essence of having excess crude account and owing oil marketers their subsidy allowance and thereby subjecting the masses to sleepless nights at fuel stations, A president who in his first budget equally allocated almost N1tr to education when defence got about N350b, a president who is interested in what they say about him, he quickly asked his children to stay home when we started complaining, gosh!!!! an angel I know is better than a spirit i dont know.

Buhari belongs to Nigerias past Goodluck is present tense pls Ribadu should patiently wait cos he is the future, when you understand your position you can never be frustrated!!!
The meaning of all this trash is that we should continue to stand the useless group of individuals in PDP like Bode George, Akala, OBJ, Adedibu, Omisore, Oyinlola or GEJ and his Anenih Godfather?

God forbid bad thing.

It's gross and disgusting! I can't imagine my husband bed hopping night after night.

It's also unclean, when you make love with  your husband, you are making love to

like five other women, yuck!! What if one of them came up with G enital Herpes? Herpes

is a virus that lives in all our bodies, but some people's herpes is active which would spread

to the whole Clan. Then if he had MouthAction with all these women, you would have a house full of

Blistered lips and coochies . . . . GROSS. Hey ladies and Gents, How's that sound?
In most of these monogamous societies, We have men and women who cheat on their partners like its going out of fashion. So that does not stop the herpes and disease thingy.

or in a society where you can divorce 4 times in a year? Polygamy doesnt make much of a difference.

What about a guy who has 5 kids from different mothers or a woman who have 4 kids from different fathers while they were never married? How are these different from Polygamy.

Personally I cant do it because you have more than enough trouble with one woman

Dobo.

The motive is to get candidates that can win an election.

In the North who do you think is more sellable or who has more appeal Buhari or Ribadu? I would say Buhari floors Ribadu by at least 70-30.

In the Search for a VP. Oshiomole wont quit his governorship role to go for VP when he isnt even sure of winning. Fighting Jonathan in the SS is a futile endeavour cos the SS would naturally prefer their son being President than being VP.

OK. Now left with Ngige and Okonjo. Which of these 2 have the clout and structure to win their own state in an election Not to talk of the whole region?

Then why should the ACN support this ticket when it doesnt benefit the base (The strongest base of the ACN is in the SW).

Ribadu-Okonjo looks good on paper to white collar voters, But in reality Buhari-Yoruba ACN man is stronger.
Buhari belongs to the past and should remain there! He is not a saint. He is part of the old order. What energy still remain in him that he is so desperate at 74? If he cannot drop his ambition for Ribadu who seemingly shares his view on how to rebuild Nigeria, then he is just being ambitious for nothing. In fact, he should just forget it.
What is our business with Buharis age? How old was Geor H Bush or Ronald Reagan when they ruled the greatest democracy in the world?

That said, ACN is not different from PDP. They also loot (Lagos - Fashola & Tinubu) kill and maim (evident in recent primaries in Ekiti & Edo States), impose candidates and propagate the culture of Godfatherism (dictators). I tell you, nothing, absolutely nothing is attractive about them. If you say Fashola is performing as ACN governor, without holding brief for PDP, Akpabio is also performing, Chime in Enugu is also performing, Babangida Aliyu is also performing.
I wont talk about what I dont know, I know the SW and can you tell me the ACN equivalent of Bode george, Alao-Akala, Iyiola Omosore, Teslim Folarin and Musiliu Obanikoro.

Which ACN leader has been accused in a murder rap or even been detained by Police for murder the way Omisore and Teslim Folarin were?

Which ACN leader has been jailed for corruption like Bode George

Just give us examples and lets work with specifics instead of throwing random stuff all over.

Dayokanu and co seem to be under the illusion that Tinubu speaks for the SW. Southwesterners are dynamic people who have their own minds. They will surprise Tinubu and ACN if they don't put their house in order. We southwesterners know that Tinubu is a political businessman.
Was Dayokanu the one who supported Fayemi, Oshiomole and Aregbesola? The ACN is the wave of the SW. The SW have tasted the ACN and have tasted the PDP and we know who we prefer.

SWesterners know Tinubu is a political businessman, But they would rather trust him over murderers like Oyinlola, OBJ, Omisore and Folarin

Gbawe! I do not have problem with your permutations. What I am saying here is that ACN,PDP,CPC.ANPP andt other political parties are the same whether we like it or not.People should stop this grand deception that ACN/CPC is the only party that can bring about change, that is not only  fantasy but grand self delusion and Deception.I believe in personality and as far as I am concern,GEJ still remain far above all other candidates.People want to see a president with charisma,a talkertive president,a president without any respect to the rule of law. That is why no ex- Uniform man should rule this country again.THE RACE AS THE GREAT BOOK SAYS IS NOT TO THE SWIFT NOR THE BATTLE TO THE STRONG.So I love the passion of everyone. But please allow others choose their own candidates whether in PDP,ACN,CPC or whatever party they feel their candidates are.ENOUGH OF ALL THESE DONT VOTE PDP!!! Jonathan is in PDP and There are millions out there that will vote for him and will not vote for some PDP members,Likewise there are millions out there that wont vote Ribadu but would vote Fashola in the same ACN.
There is a gulf of difference. I know about the SW very well, can you show us any Political party that has these kind of people in their fold?

@Dayokanu. I just have to salute you ni. U are really an authority in German football. U must be based in Germany right?
One other ques. Seems to me as if Hamburg contributed the most number of players to the German 2010 WC team. One would tend to think it should be Bayern considering their grab grab nature. Or are Bayern more interested in getting South American talents than promoting German ones?
In the South Africa World cup squad Bayern had 7 players while Hamburg had 4.- Marcel jansen, Jerome Boateng, Dennis Aogo, Trochowski

In the German starting line up: Neuer (Schalke), Lahm (bayern), Mertersacker(Bremen), Friedrich(Hertha Berlin), Badstuber (Bayern)/Boateng(Hamburg), Khedira(Stuttgart), Schweinsteiger(Bayern), Muller (bayern), Ozil(Bremen), Podolski(Cologne) and Klose (Bayern).

Actually the opposite is the case with Bayern and SouthAmericans. At the moment,Breno is the only South American that starts for Bayern and like 3 weeks ago we bought another South American Luis Gustavo

That means 4-5 Bayern players in the starting 11.

Hamburg is one of the richer clubs in German football and they have a Big Stadium Almost 60,000 but they have been inconsistent They feed off players that are offloaded by Bayern. E.g Piotr Trochowski, David Jarolim, Marcel Jansen, Ze Roberto etc.

They are more accomodating to African players though. E.g Boatengs, Aogo, Guy Demel, Jonathan Pitroipa, Macauley Chrisantus and Chupo Moting

Assanal are my whipping boys.

Per Mertersacker came on the scene over 5yrs ago and I was really hopeful for him from his Hannover days but he is disappointing in the sense that he hasn't improved that much since then.

He came at a time when Germany was very short in talent especially in Central defence, At the same time with Robert Huth. He was decent in 2006 world cup but with the defensive talent coming into the German game more, it would be hard for him to play ahead of them based on Merit.

Guys like Hummels, Howedes, Badstuber, Westermann, Sedar Tasci, Jerome Boateng look to be more talented.

Mertersacker has some upsides e.g he hardly fouls, this also doubles as his weak point. He tries to be too clean for a defender. He doesnt do the little shirt tugging and dirty things a defender needs to do. he tries to cover for it by being a goal threat but his recovery is expectedly slow for a big man.

His combination with Naldo (Per's Brazilian version) is always disastrous. Joachim Loew always keep faith with his boys.

Who would have expected Klose and Podolski who had terrible scoring record in the league to be guaranteed regular shirts? Moreover Arne friedrich covered a lot for Mertersacker while Schweinsteiger and Khedira did an insane amount of work.
