Eku bear,

If any place is more corrupt than Nigeria Maybe its Alcatraz .

How can you give someone $400m contract to construct a road and no tree was even cleared not to talk of asphalt laid.

If you remember the $16b power probe that OBJ stole everything.

After 2yr when OBJ left, the site of the IPP have not even been cleared and $16BILLION not MILLION, BILLION Dollars have gone down the drain where else does that happen in the world.

Who here remembers when a Nigerian Ship went missing on the sea and No one heard anything. The ship did not sink just disappeared like those Harry potter movies

Dapo bear and tensor,

Can you answer this honestly,

Have you lived a full year of your adult life in any part of Nigeria?

Imagine You have to bribe NEPA to give you transformer.

4hours to an important soccer game, NEPA would take all lights and any area that doesnt come to "settle" would have to miss the match

Eziachi:
In fact, the idea of anyone trying to give his electorate water through boreholes in this 21st century is not only morally corrupt but as much as financially corrupt too. Unforgivable!
What next dug them laterine?
What am I saying?
Some traditional rulers, even the socalled educated here in nairaland will give such a person a chieftaincy title for digging them a latrine in the year 2011.
But I agreed with you that in Nigeria, the cost of opening a project, often cost three times the actual project itself grin grin grin grin
Eziachi,

You are not serious. if the cost of opening a project is ONLY 3 times would we be complaining here? Infact we should be rejoicing.

Answer this How much did we use to celebrate the 50th anniversary? Host COJA, Host CHOGM, Do turnaround maintenance of refinery.

Only in Nigeria they would spend 100m to launch a project of 10m (The project itself should have ordinarily cost 750K and we would have a ceremony, cultural troupe, TV coverage, Aso Ebi and Polo T shirt with giant billboards of "Dividends of Democracy"

cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy.

Imagine a bore hole of 750k for 10m each. Thats over 1000%
Politics › Re: Ribadu Is Acn Flagbearer by dayokanu(m): 10:40pm On Jan 14, 2011
The corruption in Nigeria is not something you can even talk about. Its everything.

From Police who need N50 for you to pass, to Lecturer taking bribes to pass students,

If we take the corruption in one Local Government in Nigeria to the whole US, They would feel the effect within a few weeks
Politics › Re: Ribadu Is Acn Flagbearer by dayokanu(m): 9:23pm On Jan 14, 2011
In my scenario, the contractor bid 750k per borehole, The govt awarded 10m per borehole.

The contractor finally got 200k per borehole, and spent 50k on each
Politics › Re: Ribadu Is Acn Flagbearer by dayokanu(m): 9:10pm On Jan 14, 2011
Eku bear,

You dont know the level of corruption in Nigeria.

Let me give you an example.

there was a project by the Ministry of water resources to dig 2 bore holes in every local govt. A good bore hole probably costs 750k

But 10million naira was approved for each borehole by the Ministry (How many % inflation is that)

Ok Muktar shagari Minister of water resources slashed 5million off every bore hole leaving 5million, At every level of the bereaucratic structre they slash something. eventually the contractor gets 200k for the borehole . He spends 50K digging the equivalent of a septic tank which the govt official come to launch with all fanfare in 3 weeks the boreholes cant produce water.

A borehole that had 10m allocated actually had about 50k spent on it
Politics › Re: Ribadu Is Acn Flagbearer by dayokanu(m): 8:23pm On Jan 14, 2011
^^ With corruption even with the 300m the project would not be done and you have already taken a loan for it.

Do you know that the benin Ore road contract is always awarded yearly to Tony Anenih and Nobody touches it

Eliminate corruption and other things would fall in place

We took those loans for some reasons right? Most likely infrastructural development. Where are the infrastructres we used the loans to develop?

fstranger1:
You are right!

If you Examine the principles behind what Tinubu is doing. Examine the morality. Take an example of the internal wrangling he had with Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, is that consistent with true party politics? if somebody is doing something for self, then there is danger ahead. Fair enough, he survived and we know how he survived and it was in ACN's favour that he survived. Whatever method he used, we supported then , but that does not mean that we would not recognise the faults in his way of doing politics. The problem with Tinubu and others is that they have a private agenda of their own that is not consistent with our Awo's philosophy.
Do you know about the Awolowo vs Akintola war that led to the breakdown of the first republic?

Draw parallels with the Tinubu vs Fashola scenario if you can
Politics › Re: Ribadu Is Acn Flagbearer by dayokanu(m): 8:04pm On Jan 14, 2011
^^ Sorry but I think corruption is the major thing.

You cant have corruption entrenched the way it is in Nigeria and have any meaningful development.

All the foreign aid and IMF loans we have had since the last 40yrs where have they gone to?
Well, all of this is a moot discussion, since Ribadu has 0 chance of beating GEJ.

But let's pretend that the ACN represented a strong opposition, but one which would be just as bad if they achieved power. Should I then support them over GEJ's PDP? All other things equal, perhaps your strategy might make some sense (actually, I don't even necessarily agree that it makes sense, but let's just assume this for now.)

But are all other things equal? No. If I support the ACN/Tinubu Congress of Nigeria, then this only strengthens Tinubu's profile and increases the probability that he becomes Oloye of Yorubaland. I have zero interest in seeing Yorubaland enslaved by one man.
I thought you declared yourself an Awoist? How is Awolowos acts different from Tinubus current acts?

At a time she offered to resign and Dora mandated her to annouce the result after lampooning her on TV.

Was that not why she was rejected by Ondo state?
@Gbawe: My natural, natural inclination is to be an ACN man. I think you know this. But regardless of the things that GEJ has done (or not done), it isn't clear to me that the ACN is any better.
Here are my reasons:

The ACN in Ekiti State plays extremely dirty politics. Election rigging, political thuggery, winner-take-all politics, divide and rule, branding an entire town a PDP town (when the elections went 50/50!) and using that as an excuse to starve the town of resources! Yet this same ACN will yell, "PDP, PDP!" in an attempt to distract me from the evil actions that they themselves are taking.

It appears that Tinubu's goal is to make himself the Saraki of Yorubaland. There is absolutely no justification whatsoever for him to be installing his wife, in-laws, etc in so many political offices in the SW. Anyone who seeks to create such a dynasty in Yorubaland is my enemy, pure and simple.

You seem to know quite a bit about the ACN and their strategies. It was from you I learned that the reason all the ACN presidential candidates are Northerners is because the ACN leadership implicitly respects zoning! And you yourself who said that the ACN leadership is part of the Nigerian political elites. If this is true, why the hell do I give two sh1ts about the ACN? ACN/PDP are just two sides of the same twisted coin.
Look, I don't like the PDP. But the ACN simply hasn't differentiated itself enough from the PDP for me to prefer it. Political thuggery, godfatherism, and they also are part of the same old political elite.

Hell, if anything, the ACN might be WORSE. One can make an argument that Tinubu's clear goal of making himself Oloye 2.0 is a bigger threat to progress in the SW than the PDP is.

So if this analysis is correct (something you'll no doubt clarify for me and point out where there are holes), perhaps GEJ is the lesser of two evils.
ACN rigged in Ekiti state? I did not see any news or allegation or court case stating that maybe you can clarify with some instances. not saying they are squeaky clean but I would rather go with them than PDP.

-Tinubu scheme to me, is to rid the SW of PDP which is fine by me. What has the PDP done in the SW, Can you pls tell me how rogues like Obanikoro, Bode george, Alao-Akala and Adedibu got close to governance. Who are their equivalents in ACN? In ACN I see people of integrity pushed for the top the rogues in ACN are relegated to the background.

Who are the ACN leadership and compare them to the PDP leadership. The PDP roll call sounds more like a Party of people who ruined Nigeria.

If Tinubus goal is to turn to another "Oloye" whats my business as a citizen? My concerns as a citizen is Good governance even if it comes from Idi Amin. Now compare all the SW states with PDP leadership for 8yrs to those with ACN leadership and tell us what we have.

4llerbuntu:
can someone please help me beg these people to stop mentioning this money thing!!!!

ARRRRHHGGGGGGHHHHH, am gonna lose it of u say it one more time!

WHO THE bleep CARES?N OF WHAT IMPORTANCE IS IT TO ME IF U MAKE MONEY MORE THAN WORLD BANK?

am a fan, i dont care how much the balance sheet reads as long as you are not shipping the money into your pocket and leaving the account in red!

i am interested in cheering the team, WINNING TROPHIES, HAVING BRAGGING RIGHTS AMONGST FELLOW FANS OF OTHER CLUBS!

i suppose Uefa are gonna design a new club competition and trophy for club with highest profits so arsenal can win that one?

of what use is all these money making when the team cannot even buy a decent 10 mill goalkeeper? you make so much money, yet feed from the dregs of the transfer market? am not saying the club should be breaking the bank or buying players of 50 mill levels, BUT AT LEAST THERE PLAYERS BETTER THAN DENILSON IN FOOTBALL FOR REASONABLE SUMS!!!

there is a word for that mentality isn't there, someone please supply this word for me, my english don finish.

I dont support arsenal so the owners can make money off my supportership, thats not my business, and not my point to following the club.

please when discussing FOOTBALLING MATTERS AND PROBLEMS, stop bringing in money as a defence.

besides if the club had a decent, sound and competent board, would the coach employed for footballing reasons be the one making financial decisions and making money?

those clubs have a gloomy outlook bla bla bla, and i suppose it was the fault of their coach? and conversely arsenal have a bright financial future because of its coach?

is arsene the coach of the chief accountant/financial officer? the foundation is faulty, the building cannot and will not stand properly.
wonder since when financial acumen became the major criterion for judging a good coach!

those clubs have a gloomy outlook bla bla bla, and i suppose it was the fault of their coach? and conversely arsenal have a bright financial future because of its coach? @DK i think i have to start paying royalty for the use of your favorite word, its just sooooo apt. DELUSIONAL!!

these pple simply refuse to accept the truth

With people like you, I would not relent on my crusades So the half-blind(Debosky) ones can see, and the Permanently blind ones (Duduspace) can get a person to giude them.

duduspace:
Simple Questions for you to answer my man, If money indeed is not important,

1. Why is UEFA now talking about money and singling Arsenal out as a model for others to follow? why not hold up Chelsea, Manure, Real Madrid or even Barca as a model of how a club should be run if like you say its only about how many trophies you win.

2. Why the fall of those clubs mentioned above? all within the same period of 10 years?

3. If Chelsea made more than Arsenal pre Abramovic, why is it making less despite all the free money Roman put in to buy all those quality players and despite winning all those trophies? (mind you the money Abramovic has put in is even more than the cost of the Emirates, almost double in fact).

Now can you answer those questions as simply as I asked them? and please keep in mind my disclaimer above so we don't get issues mixed up.

The main issue for me is this, has Arsenal progressed under Arsenal and the Board's watch in the past 10 years? I say a capital YES, if you disagree with that assertion, can you put your facts on board to back it up?
See DELUSIOn in black and white, if the goal of a Football club is to make money then Arsenal has progressed, if the goal of a Football club is to win trophies then i leave you to answer that one.

@Dayokanu

If a woman wants a 100% from you what happens then? is she going to be your door mat? are you going to proclaim lord over her?will you allow her voice out her opinions? will you love and respect her the same way if she had gone for 50-50?
If my wife wants me to do 100%, I would definitely object because the consequences of me doing 100% would not be palatable for her.

Then whats her contribution i n the union. Telling me to do 100% definitely gives me the right to Lord it. He who pays the piper, dictates the tune.

jennykadry:
Jaybee and dayokanu I will also like to digress a little, I had a convo with my male colleague at work when we had that maid issue thread, he was very open and these were his words . . . . . " if not for christianity and God , one woman is not enough for a man, the world is too tempting now jenny and I tell you that I am holding on to my wife alone because I gave my life to christ a few years ago but before then I used to cheat on her although I still find myself in such situations I am happy to say I am still holding on, you women have to watch body languages and your dress sense,it is quite tempting"

Now let me ask you and dayokanu

1. How does a man's libido work?apart from having a nagging wife and infact having a wife that drives you into the arms of another woman, what exactly do men see in women that makes them cheat on their partners?
If you want to know the truth, Its only natural for men to lust after other women, it requires discipline for you not to cheat.

A man can sleep with anyone, but would make it known that his wife is still the numero uno. You can do to a strip bar get a lap dance and "more" doesnt mean you want to be known outside that bar or even seen with that stripper.

You dont need a nagging wife to chase you to the hand of that other woman, Atimes its fun and adventure nothing more
