Obi1kenobi: Lagos is not ethnically homogeneous. It is dominated by an indigenous ethnic group. But, it isn't ethnically homogeneous. If I were to make the kindest, most generous estimate, I'd say at best, Yorubas are about 65% of the Lagos population. But I'd wager they're less than that. And no one said what the LASG are doing is "illegal". Legality isn't synonymous with rightness. lol @ most generous estimate. I wonder where the source of this 65% is. Nevertheless the dominant tribe has spoken, the preferred language in EKO, YORUBALAND (as recognised globally and within Nigerian) is Yoruba. Nothing is stopping other tribes from making their own similar law on their respective lands. |

Obi1kenobi: Those countries are mostly ethnically homogeneous, and have their languages as the national language. Nigeria is a multi-ethnic unitary state with an official language which happens to be a colonial one. In any case, that isn't even the important thing. No one has stopped you developing a Yoruba curriculum. If they were teaching Engineering in Yoruba in LASU, no one who doesn't speak or write Yoruba would bother applying. That's a different thing from going to study a professional course with English as the language of instruction, then having to waste your time with irrelevant courses that adds nothing to your profession. It is understandable in basic education (primary and secondary), but not educating a bunch of adults that came to the university to train themselves as professionals. Is Lagos and by extension, YORUBALAND, not ethnically homogeneous enough for you? By enacting this law, Is the Lagos state government doing anything illegal under the Nigerian constitution? |

Which ONE of the following does not fit in the group?
A. France B. China C. Spain D. Hungary E. Lagos F. Italy G. Germany None. What is your point exactly? Everyone in your list has a government that is elected to make laws that they feel is best for their people. |

vascey: Interesting. Was it not this same month that the French government asked Nigerians to come school in France as they were now offering courses in English.
Here in Nigeria, we are moving backward. What is the value of Yoruba language to a person studying an Engineering course?
Retrogressive policies In France engineering is taught in French notEnglish In China engineering is taught in Chinese not English In Spain engineering is taught in Spanish not English In Hungary engineering is taught in Hungarian not English In Italy engineering is taught in Italian not English In Germany engineering is taught in German not English Given these examples, why can't engineering be taught in Yoruba on YORUBALAND? |

butterflyl1on: Yet some deluded people would be saying man evolved by chance and was not created. See science as highly advanced as it is still cannot give her a heart as compact and efficient as that given by God. They could only give a bag sized replacement for a heart that functions for a lifetime yet is only the size of a fist.
God is great. Is it your science teacher that was incompetent or you just dont understand the principles of science? I hope it is the latter |
