i got on this soooooooooo late. Does anyone have a fresh link to d GhetoP's track? never heard it. oNe |
@ y'all. There's no need to get childish when sittin opinions. E'rone is entitled to his. That said we have talented rappers in 9ja. But let's see it this way, we all talk bout the world has become a global village, so there's commonality in almost all spheres. The same parameters is NOW being used to measure/judge e'rthing. So in any aspect whoever has a more global outlook is King. There r rules guys. Especially if u didnt invent the category or genre Case in point: 9ja didnt invent football, but we r good and have our own flavour, but football is a global game. We win in local competitions but they whoop our ass silly when we go out there, internationally. We didnt invent hiphop either, but we have our local flavour too which is good but limiting (tho depending on where u wanna play, locally or globally) If Akon was singing in his Senegalese lingo, i wonder how gloabal he wld be by now. It sooo happens that in Hiphop the main criteria and note i said "main" for judgin' a tite emcee is lyrics Mainly hiphop is a LISTENING art form. Yea u cld make pple bob their head as u spit. Hihop focus is not to get pple to d dance floor(pop is already doin that) but to LISTEN Soulja boy connects wit "his pple" he moves the crowd, got the club bangin' and all but c'mon guys we know HIPHOP wise he aint on d radar. The reason being his lyrical strenght and un hiphop beats. He may even sell more than Nas, and pack more crowd and fan as well but that wont change the fact. Lets not confuse the skill that matters with appeal. oNe |
Back to the review; Im just luvin' it, I'm so confused which is ma best track, that is sth that doesnt happen to me often; But for selection sake, lemme say i Bleep wit Intro,My skin is black, Spartan, Bigboy rap,Nine,Kick u, Mathematical sege, Bush girl Behind girl, Forbidden love, goshh Bleep it, i Bleep with d whole album!! It's a clAssic. Hmmmm, now im thinkin' have we eva had a classic Hiphop album in 9ja or is this the 1st? Just thinkin', oNe |
toluwalomo:Word, I cosign that. oNe |
tosinadeda:LOL, funny dude. ![]() Watya insinuatin', lol |
tosinadeda:I wish Rugged culd make a come back, but i doubt. Cos from inception he neva cld match up wit M9. Pple just feel him cos of his beats NOT lyrics, and diss tracks(infact HIPHOP m) are majorly lyrical and that is M9 backyard, he does it soooooo effortlessly. I dont see nobody makin a come back from "Death blow" when he didnt even recover from 'baba this baba that' oNe |
FLOWSHOW:Oh? i tot Tjoe is the marketer and not M9? So how does d marketer's marketing strategy a blame on M9's intelligence, na waooo! |
javalove:1st all, Tosin, the ref. point in "talkin' to u" is the line -"baba this baba that, when i diss a baba(adisababa) it's not ethiopia" not the hook that Banky did. And too bad rugged cldnt even think up how to use such opportunity, u get? 2ndly tosinadeda:Big contradiction!!- Ruggedy opened wit a line suggestin he's doin wat underground cats are known for, and doin it for the ungerground audience hence he spat- "i'll break it down so y'all dont think i left the UNDERGROUND" Howeva his inability to keep the fidelity of that promise came off when on 2nd verse he spat- "before i put the mic down here's another PARTY TRACK for y'all to get down" Now if u dont see contradiction of intent in there i dunno wat to say tosinadeda:oNe |
"the joint u did wit Nice was Nice cos Nice was on it"-M9 Sounds simply, but i promise u it runs deep, it's a home run! oNe |
don jazzie:Yea, anytime i listen to it i'm tempted to add an additional mic, for each listen, lol. For those who REAlly wanna buy, i got mine on Allen Av. Im sure u'l find it elsewhere. However, i'm shocked that with all the free tracks M9 has made available dudes are still waitin for this album to be uploaded for free, habaaa guys, Ok, u some pple are not in d country so the "upload it" way out. I understand but i think there are alternatives rather than free uploads. Make we allow this artists enjoy a bit of their sweat. oNe |
Yea, I coped the CD yesterday. I coped 2 as a mata of fact. 1 for ma car and the other for i-no wan-hear-story-say-1-tin-1-tin. See, Paradigm shift is a CLASSIC HIPHOP album. One thing im so grateful for is the shift in the beats, it's d kinda beats i'v always wanted M9 to spit on. Track 22 is an Ether. TKO diss tracks dont come beta than that. Need i say more? I think M9 lived up to the hype as the best thang that has happened to African Hiphop. No one comes harder than this. M9 is a bloody monster on tha mic! It's a 5 mics material. |
@ darequam Re: Banging by Ruggedman Ft Durella (Modenine Diss) darequam:M.I got TIGHTER lyrics and flow than M.9 ? ![]() Not just yet!! Tho Im sooooo definately feelin' M.I like crazy right now. Although because he's got nice lyrics too u can "compare" him with M.9 but to say he's better may be too hasty an utterance. Just cos the dude was bright on few tracks dont make him that tite, yet. Most of the lines M.9 had spat will take more than just few nice wordplay to match. M.9 has created a niche for himself and i doubt if any1 wld take it from him. I dont think there's any kinda lyrics howeva bright wayne wld spit now that'll make heads now say he's better lyrically than Nas. We shuld learn to recognise those who are the benchmarks, those who r influencers, that is wat M.9 is, a point of reference in intelligent wordplay and metaphors. oNe |
javalove (m) Re: Banging by Ruggedman Ft Durella (Modenine Diss) « #93 on: October 17, 2008, 07:27 PM » me sha, i no like rugged 1 bit. Lyrical beefs rise like this on a low/ bring them back to life by killing them with the flow

@javalove it's-lyrical beefs rise like yeast on a loaf oNe |
Riddle me this guys, if we did a sound swap on both guys, i.e lets say we took ruggedy's lyrics and laid 'em on mode's beats, and we took mode's beat and laid on ruggedy's lyrics, or better still a total strait up accapella. Now tell me, what dyu think wld be the result, who wld come out smokin' and who'ld come out wack? An exercise like this will kinda show who's really the king. Like they say if u truly wanna know a beautiful lady, try catch her without all the fake attachments and makeup. Let the truth be told! oNe |
SAUCE-K:I use to(well still do) really feel saucekid, until i came across the songs that he bit on most of his tracks, From "we fly high" to 'sambaribobo" to "around here" to "check"- so to me he's the least original of the 3, for now. He got good flow tho and the swagger is "werkin'" for him. Howeva i think it's disrespectful to compare him to Mode or other tite veterans, for now. He needs to put out more work. "It's 9ja yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!" RUGGED: Well, i like the dude oo, came in dissin' and got noticed but somehow like a dog back to his vomit went back to doin' wat he dissed in others, that's a shame. But he's got sicker beats, kinda urban beats which is good, nice delivery too. Dunno y pple say he revolutionalized the rap game, i beg to differ. The reason being that all the guys he dissed are still thrivin' in their wackness till date. He even took it a step further by doin' collabos wit 'em "It's meeee!!!!!!!ruggedman"MODE9: Wat i have for him is more of respect. I wish he gets more musical tho, cos i enjoy him wheneva he does- Check tracks like "oloriburuku", "Originality", Talkin' to u" and d likes. Lyrically no cat comes close, at least not yet. I like when i listen and i rewind and rewind. I like when someone makes me wonder how the heck did he think of that, i guess that is the intelligence(lyrical) that e'rone s'been talkin 'bout. Plus, he's the most dynamic of the 3, be it -Topics or delivery style. "yo. listen" Now they all got what to improve on but if u ask me, i think Mode will be d easiest to fix. Why? It's easier to get a sick beat and dunb down ur lyrics, "to double the dollar". Ever wonder y we hav more wacks than tite cats? It's much tougher to have a leap in content, well xcept ghostwritters come to ur aid. Summary: for cerebral jogglin', content, concept "real hip hop Mode9, for attitude brooklyn swagger-Sauce.K for "tungbascious" delivery -Rugged For a hibreed-watch out for M.I. IMO. oNe |
Shufflin' btw MI's "safe" and Mode9's "Originality remix", top dogs! ![]() |
