~Sauron~:
I disagree with this.

Before Nas dissed Jigga, we all know what he was about. . . . .Illmatic, I Am, It Was Written(3 Undeniable classics).
If he decides to go elementary in one song, then we can naturally assume he is just clowning.
When Eminem was dissing Michael Jackson, Britney Spears n Janet Jackson's tits. . . .we all knew he was clowning cos we have seen doper stuffs from him in previous years. Whereas, Mode-9 does not have any credit history before coming up with those wack lines.
A debutant should give his best first before clowning otherwise the audience won't take him serious.
Hey Saurone, quite a while, wats up?
Ok, back to the IAH.
So u didnt kno he was "clownin with that line? c'mon, dude
Em can decide to go all clownin with those guys, check ur list those aint hiphop artist
Y will he need to go heavy on them, they got no issues, dyu get?
And Saurone, M-9's got credit history. He's been named the best lyricist time and again
got awards to show for it, got recogniton by rappers we admire for it.So dude that ur point
didnt cut it, sorry smiley
From his malcomix, pentium ix, el puribus unum, mixtapes and all, his "lyricability" is well known
and regarded, so if he decides to spit "cocoyam" as Nas spat "u no get "moustache" it's
all got. none haters know he's just humour.
And really who determines at what stage u can decide to clown with JUST 1 line in ur carrer?
Cos we got artistes who r just comic rappers, dont we?

DBR the emboldened makes me e-laugh grin grin
So Mode lost his childhood and is doing NOW what we all did in pry/sec school ?Classic
But seriously,i'd like to ask why Mode 9 hasn't replied Ghetto P'diss and decided to reply via interview too,not a track, that he wouldn't want to dignify an unknown element with a response via track?
Mode is a lyricst no doubt, bar for some songs where he tries way to hard.Contradiction,I'm black, and 9 are some tracks i really love and i feel he should stick to battlling those "invisible foes" rather than an all out war as he seem he's not so good in this.
He should have stopped at "talking to you" really
@
kay_pumpin
Dude, that line was in reference to Nas not M-9, duhhh
Y are u guys talkin like M-9 just woke up ystday to diss Ruggedy?
It was while doin his "invisible foe thingy that smone got scared and started insinuatin
shots is been taken at him.
Plus, guy always keep in mind that Ruggedy ACTUALLY asked for this!
I dont kno y y'all keep brushin that aside.
Cant we say JayZ shudda stopped at "Take over"?
The point of diss/beef is to get to a point where the other emcee got
nothin else to say, it's like a submission match.
Hence M-9 spat-
"i'ma prove it mic wise u got nothin to say"
As for Ghetto P, c'mon u can say M-9 didnt reply, but he did
tho not blatantly. Lines like "ur diss track was a missed call, no rply",
"kids wanna take shot but dont know wat the weapon is" and likes
are for that class of rappers takin shot at him. GhettoP aint even got an album.
The 1st thing we heard bout the guy is a diss single to M-9 and since then
wat else, dyu get?

debosky:
No, we mustn't all have the same way of doing things, but what exactly does Mode9 have over Ruggedman?

Ruggedman is more popular, has more hits, more awards and more sales than Mode9. Rugged's diss track about 'rapping like mumu' will forever be more popular than any of Mode9's, so in the words of Naeto C, kini big deal?  cheesy

RUGGEDY IS MORE POPULAR, MAYBE LOCALLY. BUT HAVE U SEEN A THREAD THAT 9JA HIPHOP IS DISCUSED AND M-9 NAME DOESNT COME UPhuh

In what area is Mode better? Lyrics? Is that the only determinant of a good hip hop artiste?

YES LYRICS< VERSITILITY< CONCEPTS< POETIC IMAGERY<KICKIN KNOWLEDGE< AND INT. RECOGNITION

It's like scoring 80% in Biology but 10% in Physics, Chemistry, Math and English- you won't get admitted for medicine

Someone else who scores 70% in all five has a higher cummulative score, and is a better student.

Rugged is far better all round than Mode, that's the reality of the matter.

HE ONLY GOT FRIENDLIER DELIVERY, AS A RESULT OF HIS VOICE WHICH I LIKE. EXCEPT U'RE COUNTING HIS DANCERS AS HIS STAGE CRAFTMANSHIP. BUT LEFT ALONE ON STAGE HE AINT BETTER THAN M-9

Based on that, Rugged won't dedicate hours of recording and thinking over a mouse like Mode. He was asked questions in an interview and he replied off the cuff with no preparations like Benitez  grin. That is the end of the matter for rugged.

BUT HE COULD WASTE THE HOURS ON  A DISS TRACK VIDEOhuh AND TURNED A REPORTERhuh?

Let mode continue making diss tracks while Rugged continues raking in awards.

OH!, LIKE M-9 AINT RAKIN' IN AWARDShuh??PUHLEEEAZEEE!!

Y'all funny dudes!
How many bars was death blow?
And all y'all can say is "cocoa yam lines? sayin it's wack?
Do y'all know the place of humour at all?
I guess when Nas spat words like
, scared to smile they call u ugly? u think u gettin gurls cos of ur looks
all yabbin JZ that he's ugly-those lines are wack too righthuh?
Or when he spat-You no Mustache havin with whiskers like a rat
Are those not wat y'all wuldda called "elementary" or wack if t'was M-9 that spat 'em??
Have we not yabbed pple like dat when we were in pry/sec skool?
M-9 till date is still the heaviest lyricist we got. And just like other great lyricists u may consider
some of their lines elementary but as a whole they still got it locked.

Ok, its like this. Bouqui wants  to rap mainstream but insists that she is a christian rapper. She should work out what market she is aiming for and go for it. The crossover thing is not working for me.

This is just MY OPINION!! I appreciate what she is trying to do but she comes across all confused to me. She can be a conscious rapper if she wants to but please, i dont need to listen to her for spiritual guidance. I dont need her doing the preachy preachy thing with me because i find it patronising.

Get my point?
Owwkaiiyy,
so in ur own judgement the term Mainstream is incongruous to Christianityhuh?
The fact that she does rap dont make her less christian or does it??
I'm sure she aint gunnin to being YOUR or even anybody's Spiritual guide either.
And not even a cross over too. She know's her market and her market knows her.
She far from being confused.

You need to have listened to her album to know where and how she stands with her craft.
See it like this, she's a Christian Person who loves rap. She goes tru e'rthin' other pple go tru.
She may even speak bout the same thing, express the same desires, emotions and all, but with
a different paradigm. How she resolves reveals her core.
Case in point, the "too much" track.

She flexes, flosses and maybe even bragged like any other rapper bout her lyrical skill, but
she resolves by sayin things like "i boast in the lord", things like "God is the remedy" like
"i'm the apple of smbody's(God) eye"
D'yu get?
See it like this maybe she's not a Gospel Artist,
but a Rapper that lets her Christian frame of mind show up in her lyrics.

ok now. . . so we dey agree to disagree abi? or is it disagreeing to agree??

The essence of my post was cos people seem to constantly hammer about 'originality' saying MI sounds like Weezy. . . hence he isn't original. Or SauceKid sounds like/ looks like a fake thug. . . hence he isn't original. . .

But even JayZ sounded like his mentor Jaz~O when he came out. . . He even twisted his name to start. I'm sure if MI started out calling himself Lil MIeezy, we no go hear word for here. So don't get me wrong. . cos i feel they're all the truth in their own ways. .

And FloRida didn't get all tatted up until Fiddy made it commercial to do it. . . Now from Rick Ross to Wiz Khalifa to SK everybody dey do am. . . and it's all good.

HipHop is about taking someone else's style and running with it. . . making it sound better. . . Ask Diddy who invented the remix
Hahaaaa, lolz

LOL, now this is getting ridiculous, Some of the dudes on this site need to update their hiphop history. . .
Lil Wayne's flow when he was with HotBoys was shiite, He switched it up and started Jocking Jayz. . .
Then he got relevant on the mixtape scene then started Jocking Tpain on that vocoder ish. .
So he's not exactly an original. . .

That's what hiphop is about. . .
Even Jigga had to say "I'm not a biter I'm a writer for myself and others, I say a BIG verse I'm only bigging up my bruva. . ."

So y'all need to quit with the 'originality' schtick. . .

I can't feel my face IS off Juelz Santana/Lil Wayne mixtape, Google it.

MI is unoriginal cuz he sounds like Weezy and Kanyeezy? Then let's do a list of artistes using Autotune since Tpain made it hot, Jeezzz! From R Kelly to OJB Jezreel is on that shiite!
Hahaaa, dont mind JayZ, that statement was just a sly way of turnin it around.
Dude was plain bitin Biggie or was he biggin up the other cats he jacked their lyrics.
And plss originality matters we cant push it aside. if i doesnt matter even JayZ
himself wuddnt do "jockin JayZ track, Nas wuddnt take a shot at JZ for biting,
Cam'ron wuddnt diss JZ and call him a swaggar jacker, the list is endless.
In hiphop, cos it's majorly lyrically based genre bitting another's lyrics is
like the unforgivable sin cos really for hiphop-your word and ur balls is all u got!
Tho sm things are accepted and normal, like if u like a particular person
their is tendency to talk or do things like them, it's called rub off.
Young chris sound like Jay z,cos of the influence, Mi may sound like Weezy or kanye
but he's still original where matters most-HIS WORDS.
Personally if u come correct with UR OWN lyrics, i can pardon u soundin like sm1 else.

Really? 8 tracks on PS aimed at Rugeddy?
C'mon guys,
It's only smone who doesnt know M-9 from
way back that'll say that. We cant just always assume
that any track that adresses wacks, fake cats, sellin' out
dumbed down issues are directed at rugeddy ,, c'mon.
Except we are inferin that those tags are synonymous to Ruggedy
And that's one of the misconception that fuelled this beef
on Ruggedy's side.If that's the case, it means even the
MalcomIX album is a Ruggedman's diss album huh.
However if u count 8 Ruggedy diss track from M-9 last work
im sure i can match same number from Ruggedy's.
But on the real i feel these 2 cats, i just respect one more.

i get u, but that M-9 is "going after" rugeddy is wat i dont think it's right.
For watever reason Ruggedy felt M-9 was takin shots at him however subliminaly.
M-9 has also been a rcipient of Ruggedy subliminals as well.
So to me it's not about who's goin after who.
Whateva issue they later had that the beef became obvious to all is another thing.
But as per the topic of the thread., wat im sayin is this:
ruggedy has always said the subliminal aint enuff, that M-9 shud be
blatant bout the beef thingy. Remember M-9 once spat: "we can tossle in
the open but subliminals are better
" Now M-9 went blatant at Ruggedy's request
and Ruggedy is sayin he aint got time for beef. he aint replyin' when he's been dolin and replyin
earlier , wether directed at him or not. And mind u, M-9 has always maintained
that "this is not beef, it's lyrical vendetta" M-9 doesnt have any issues wit Ruggedy
save lyrical stuff, not money, not fame. It's ruggedy that digressed it to it's present status.

Owkaiiyy, so we must all compulsorily do and listen to "softcore".
And the reason is cos IT WONT SELL, wonderful!
But if it wuld sell in 9ja, it wuldda been ok?
So every artiste must aim for mass market, hmmm, ok.
The person that shud be concerned most is M-9.
2short was doi hardcore too, but it bothers him that
he wasnt SELLING, or known so he switched, good for him.
It doent bother M-9, he's doin wat he loves the way he loves to do it.
Ok he aint gettin mass market sales and recognition, but his
target audience are feelin him, so wats the issue.
All the artistes hav conscience, those who dumb down and
those who gets fullfiled for doin wat is true to their heart.
I feel both the artist, but i know who i RESPECT of the 2 also.

MULTI-SYLLABLE- Multis for short nd i still don't know where u got the idea of Feminine and Masculine Rhymes as Multis from.
Let me start by analysin the rhymes here; Keep~of~dude and Reach~ur~doom and sit~ups~too/ if they don't sound similar to u then lipsrsealed Dome and Zone rhymes perfectly but i wasn't have the intention of makin them the end/major rhymes. As for the Millitary stuff, wen u walk along a street (maybe only in Naija) and u see this sign "MILLITARY ZONE" the next thing u'll see is "KEEP OFF" simple as abc. The "sit up" was simply used as a physical word attributed to 'Exercise' brought about the 'mis-fit' thingy in dat very line wink Rhymin goes way beyond the cook-took-book pattern, u could try sumfin like rude, mute e.t.c.

I am more concerned wit rhyming-right nd stayin on point rather than litterin ma barz wit rhymes dat reduces the effect of my punchlines.

The Forum seems deserted, where are all 'em netcess at!

My simple point: If you would accept the fact that MULTIS is the short form of MULTI-SYLLABLE then u should be able to identify 'em. Multis is not a word on it's own, it's just a simple abbrevation!
I co-sign this.
Sauoron ma dude, u kinda mixed up the in-rhymes with actual multies.
And the literature concept of gender rhymes partern took the discussion off target.
Mailmac is right here.
That said, gosh Saurone, Mailmac and Ibeme, u guys blow ma mind.
Your analysis makes NL the shitt!!!

I've never had any probs with Illbliss as an artiste, I mean; I love "Aye Po Gan", "Dat Ibo Boy" and "U Go Wound". And yeah he tries to rap like Biggie. But this song is at best mediocre. By the whiskers of General Al-Hassim Moustafah, what on earth was that chorus - Who be you, who be you, who be you?? huh huh huh Sounds more like when rastas are warming up to sing a song angry

Until we start to call a spade by its name, until we begin to look objectively at a song and not who sang it; we still have a long way to go in making standard music in Nigeria.

Imagine this song being played before an international audience?

What the . . . ?? huh

, and what is wrong with the song?
Personally i see this track as more creative n darin than Aye po gan and Dat ibo boy
and yes i prefer it!! In ur own word too imagine playin "awka awka dat ibo boy before
international audience, watya talkin bout dude?
Bliss was on point here, his rhymes intact, lyrics was flawless. So wat makes a track hot, and wat makes it mediocre?
Heated up beat and razmataz? To call this track mediocre is castin' aspersion on the creativity displayed here.
