Music/RadioRe: Ruggedman Responds To Death Blow (the Mode9 Diss Song) by DBR: 2:01pm On Dec 19, 2008
v24m:
modenine is not even happy with his current state of things. other mcees are making money in the likes of ikechukwu, naeto c, sauce kid , ruggedman. modenine cannot be happy with his current state. keep hyping him. it only shows your hypes are not reaching the corporate media. chill guys. go ease up on the hypes. the battery is running out of life.

and we wonder why the likes of dbanj, tuface, 9ice and co are making more money and are getting more famous.

Listen guys mode9 and rugged are different individual with their own style, but rugged s style of rap will go far in nigeria because it always has a bit of satire in it, which is what nigerians need all the time to wake up.

Take a look at all the past songs from Tuface, dbanj, faze e.t.c theres really no european touch to it,
modes way of rapping is like d Europeans so am guessing the reason his not soooo popular or rich is because most of you here fighting for him will rather go and listen to the likes of wayne, game,50,soulja boy, TI and so on. instead of modes.

Nigerians that listen to songs from rugged are the low class and a bit of the middle class because they can relate with it, that why he will go far and besides the guy is already a brand.

I really don't know why there should even be beef in the first place.

Nice post. But,
Rugged? Satire?
See, me im very particular bout choice of word pple use.
So now u sayin "but rugged will go far, bit of satire in it.
Meanin that's a differentiating factor? Cos truth be said
M.9 has more satirical lines, nay tracks than Rugged.
And i can list, tracks and lines to support.
So wat's ur point.

2ndly,we r not just rooting for M.9 for nothin'
we do so because we believe lyricism is d main ingrident
of hiphop, except nigerian hiphop has a different POV.
But we believe that an emcees strenght lyrically ditermines
who shud be dreaded and respected in d game.
We never said M.9 has more money, nope
Neither hav we said he has more followership or shows, nope.
We kno Rugged has that and we dont argue.
We only say the crown for the greatest lyricist is in M.9 custody, simple.

Mnwhile, 9ce, 2face, and those u mentioned that dont hav european influence
aint doin hiphop, at least as far as we know hiphop to be,
tho d ignorance in our music industry make pple even call 9ce a hiphop artist, phweeew!
(lets 4get d fact that 2face ft a R,kelly wit his european touch oo)
they belong to a diff. genre, and a genre that is more accepted in 9ja.
Rugged leans away from hiphop more to that pop genre hence more listenership.

I just dont like pple lacin' thier POV wit

Yes, i believe Rugged is more visible in 9ja, and prolly has more cash.
And yea, Rugged says he's all bout makin d money.
M.9 said he's in it for d love and wateva he gets from it is bonus.
So with this 2 mission statements braggin bout who make more money aint too relevant.
But really artistcally, money has never been the rating point of who's better, it's skills.
If u say Rugged has more cash, rocks more show i may agree
Now if u guys now say Rugged is more lyrical u will be soooo off point hence i strongly disagree.
But that's just ma opinnion.
However the best and simple way to check this is to post this rappers lines,
and let Nlanders check who got sicker lines.
The usage of puns, simile, metaphors, and crazier wordplay all together.
Beef or diss aside, lets do this.
I'm not into abusive langs, or using curse words on pple on thread,so lets keep it clean.
Ma own stand is M.9 is the most lyrical emcee we have,
hence his acknowledged as the best emcee in 9ja and africa.
And i have his lines to prove it.
plus, Rugged is also ma man.

Any idiot can put words together but your flows lack vocab, complex, rhymes and multies.
U need to work on that to be even considered in the premiership of netcees on NL.

This is exactly wat pple say Rugged lacks and M.9 has so aint it contradictory to now say
'the guy that lacks these skills is now better than d one who does?.

As per Rugged response, it's same ol' balderdash, u broke, i got more money.
Personally i dont think what was posted was Rugged's responsewas actually Rugged's
Tho we say he aint lyrical, i dont think he's stupid enuff to make such frivolous statement.
M.9 never dissed 9ce, if anythin that line: "the track u did wit 9ce was 9ce cos 9ce was on it"
was a prop to 9ce and not a diss, so if Rugged actually says dat M.9 was talkin trash bout 9ce then maybe
Rugged is really dumb lyrically. Dang! that wordplay is fire

Sm1 posted a response earlier sayin Rugged said M.9 wasnt talkin to him in Death Blowcos cos
his name wasnt mentioned, so he wld not reply, and now did he just decode he was really the butt of the whole joke??
Rugged has been dissing M.9 too, and he even subliminally said M.9 shud hit direct.
Now he's been hit and o n bangin' sii leti and he's complaining that M.9 is just lookin for who to diss for fame?
Puhhleaaaseee!!
Wasnt that wat Rugged did?.
Now it's his turn and he's bitchin'? He shud just take it like a man and as usual
get his ghostwriter to bail him out.
Soulja boy moves the youth market, and has more show, and probabaly making more dough than Common or Nas
but does that make him a better Emcee?, that line of tot that the one wit bigger check is the illest is just so retarded.

Music/RadioRe: Modenine Death Blow-should Ruggedman Reply Or Remain A Coward Forever?poll by DBR: 4:09pm On Dec 17, 2008
Rugged will reply, his ego wont let him keep quite.
And when and if he does, it will be more detremental.
So whether silent or response he's already like "an antelpoe in d lion's den"-(M.9).
We kno pple write for Rugged, so im sure his ghost writters are burnin'
midnight candle to match up, but like M.9 said
you culdnt ghostwrite if you were shakespeare's spirit"
M.9 has risen to a lyrical hight that his lines are like quotable quotes.
So whateva Rugged's response is, whoeva ghost writes for him, Deathblow2
is waitin to top.

Now lemme ask, did Rugged really change/clear the game?
I think he's been credited for that for too long.
Before ehen the rapper i'v know that gave me an international feel
was M.9, i heard "Bomb blast" and saw the video, the video than wat tite,
lyrics was sick. i didnt really kno who he was then
until i heard he's a 9ja guy called Mode9.
Wat did rugged do, he dissed eedris, maintain, raski and who?
Did it make this guys better? Eeedris released tracks after that so did others and t'was same ol' thang
so what "he clear off the mess" r u guys talkin bout, the collabo he had wit both Raskid and eedris
wasnt any better. And rugged still felt comfy wit them, tot he said they were wack

Rugged has no impact on the top and also emerging rappers now in 9ja, so wat did he really do.
However listen to most rappers in their lines, ref. is mostly made to M.9 lyrical wizardry.
Rappers say thing like: my punchline r hard like dat of modenine.
Now that is influence! Even rappers y'all respect know that.
But lets even agree dat ruggedy did clear the mess-aint he a mess now?
It's like a typical politician that campaign against incubent, pointing out their flaws.
However when given the opportunity to lead he to fell into mess.

Yea Rugged may get more publicised shows in 9ja, but hey outside the shore of 9ja whose name dyu think
the reckon with as the best thing that's happened to Hiphop in AFRICA?,Oh oooohh.
so now you know. And like he says again:
We'r woldwide them no kno u for togo/ player in d background woon ni logo/-M.9

Yea, i tot i mentioned it before, t'was Ruby on the hook on the track "Nine"
M.i also featured her some time back titled "Time".
She has really upped her game considering her delivery on "Time".

On green passport i was hopin' sm1 else wuld notice it too.
Im glad Javalove did.
I think Sound sultan didnt do justice to that track.
I too prefer the original which Kidkonnect produced to
the remix in PS.
SoundSultan went off key a number of times on the track.
For me he didnt cut it, wuldda prefered a Terry da Rapman on
the remix cos of the kinda humour he culdda brot to it.
i like the line on "chillin' wit ur gurl" where M.9 spat:
"she's like a cigarette without a filter, no butt".
I think we'l do our fav. lines from PS later.

U guys are just funny.
I think many pple hate on M.9, dunno y tho.
pple complain that his album wsnt available on time
but same guys didnt complain that M.i's sufferd same.
M.i was s'pose to drop on the 1st of Dec. but we didnt get it
until 12th. M.9 didnt even take that long, lol
But the fact that M.9's name keeps comin up in every hiphop/rap thread
only point to d fact that he is a factor.

That said, M.i, great dude, im feelin the dude welllll!!!
And guys dont try pitch him against M.9, they are pals, and
not in competition, sorry to dissapoint u guys.
M.i respects M.9 well. And M.9 feels M.i too.
And for those who says M.i doesnt diss,
one advice, get cotton buds and clean up.
cos dude disses and brags well, it's all in the hiphop thingy.
Lastly, for those who say M.9 got himself a rival
i say nahhh, he's only got himself an heir.
Ma fav. 2 hiphop/rap album of the year: M.9's ParadigmShift(PS) and M.i's Talk about it.
All heads and none heads shud have those,,,and it's a rap!

Music/RadioRe: Mode Nine's Paradigm Shift: A Critical Review by DBR: 7:41pm On Dec 15, 2008
Bamsyle:
@DBR/Abdurrazaq
Good reviews. However, when I said Mode can't do dance tracks, I meant it as a statement of fact that I have come to believe. I don't see it as a flaw.

In the final analysis, what really counts is - dance or not, how skilled is the rapper?
@
Bamsyle
i think that is where we differ, and where u aint dispassionate cos u makin ref. to YOUR BELIEF and u called it FACT.
Plus, i just told u wat we know takes to make a club track.
So logically lemme ask,
1-can M.9 get a producer to make a club beat, i wld say YES he can (no Obama ishh intended)
2-Can he get d likes of a Dbanj, a durella, an eldee ,or an Olumaintain or Psquare to do a catchy club hook-again YES he can
3-Can he ride on such a beat? YES he can.
4-Will he do all these things just to do a club track?-I say NO he wont, so far, at least not on the already realeased album, lol
So wat i'm sayin is that it's not a question of inability to do which your "HE CANT" infers but the issue is HE WON'T

And in d final analysis it's d skill, so i'ld ask what skill is most talked about in Hiphop,
wat major skill is looked for in the artiste, i think it's lyrical prowess.
What is M.9 majorly known for, the last time i checked t'was his "lyricability"
So in the final analysis did M.9's P.S show this?

Personally My skin is black and Nine are my favs, tho t'was hard choosin'
Nice job Bamsyle.

Just wanna quickly say ma opinnion doesnt mean M.9 cant improve his skill.
F'course e'rbody needs that, anythin done can always be done better,
there's always room for improvement for all.
PS is a peep into that improvement, there's more to be seen.
Cos definately we've not heard the last of him.

Music/RadioRe: Mode Nine's Paradigm Shift: A Critical Review by DBR: 6:12pm On Dec 15, 2008
Hmmm!
Paradigm Shift-PS, M.9,
@
Bamsyl
1st lemme say u did a commendable job.
That said- I think this is M.9 best effort so far,
no controversy bout that cos he too agreed when i told him.
Personally PS is the 1st Hiphop classic album in 9ja, i call it a clAsick!
Production was better on the album than previos works
Versitility showed up as M.9 flipped some ragga on us, which aint bad at all.
Unlike ogun isoye and fellow nigerians, social issues were tackled in a fun more friendly way
Case in point, Behind girl bush girl-tacklin cosmopolitant female issue.Forbidden love- tacklin tenege sex, and infidelity.
My skin is black, Green passport and the likes.
About M.9 braggin n boastin, i dont kno why pple credit that only to M.9
check the role call and tell me which rapper doesnt. M.9 lyricism only makes him come bang in ur face, and that's a plus.

As regardin Club banger, lemme say this, any nit wit dat grabs a mic can do a club track.
It is d easiest to do, y dyu think we hav more cats doin that,
It's unfortunate that what we shud credit M.9 for is what we critisize him for.
Get a club track producer, get some one to do a catchy hook and bang, we r all in d club movin our feet!
Ur lyrics dont even matter cos we aint listenin anyway.
So to say "he cannot do a club track" is a big error. when he decides to he wld.
So if he join d club wagon who will make us listen and bob our heads?? hnnn?
But like i say, Hiphop is a listenin music. Yea pple can take it to dance floor but it's really
a mature kinda music that makes u just bob ur head and LISTEN.
Imagine pple sayin if ur classical music cant be played in d club u r old fashion?
Classical music as by BEETHOVEEN, MOZART is sth u close ur eyes listen to and enjoy, dyu get?
JZ had that problem when he was losin pple LISTENIN to him cos they've tagged him a bling rapper as well
and he complained in one of his track he say
"do u pple listen to music or u just skim tru it"-.

Yea searchin for another CONTRADICTION in PS is like searchin for ONE MIC in another Nas' album.
That's d beauty of creativity, it reveals itself in different 9 modes(pun intended).
Jesse jags did a marvelous job on track 15-"NINE", Ruby on the hook ripped it apart.
Most of the tracks are radio/ear friendly not neccesary a club friendly, but im sure it's intentional
cos for now that's wat d brand M.9 stands for.
PS has raised the bar for hiphop album in 9ja no doubt, even those beefin' dissin' M.9 will cop it
and use it as a benchmark.

Hiphop/rap wise, 2 albums have made me glad this year.
2 cats have really warmed ma heart.
M.9's-Paradigm shift & M.i's-Talk about it
I think both are great albums that anyone who claims
he likes rap or hiphop shud have as a collection.
@

if u listen to M.i well enuff u'll kno that he disses other rappers(wack rappers)
tho imaginary, just like M.9 throws general warnin shots at fake cats.
So dont say M.i doesnt diss or war, it's just the way of hiphop.
Worry not, cos with time M.i will have his personal battles and personal clashes wit some cats, it's all in the game.
M.i is coool, and i dey feel the dude die!!!

He has greater commercial appeal which M.9 cant contend or rather wont compete for.
(dunno y pple dont get it that M9 doesnt wanna be a commercial wonder,
it's deliberate by him and he's contented(now that is a virtue) wit d few heads feelin' him, while convertin' "non-heads"wink.
M.i, he has nice lyrics as well however the crown for lyricism hasnt left the custody the one who owns it, M.9 no doubt.

Personally i dont see M.i as M.9's competition rather i see M.i as M.9's heir, and that's wat it is.
And there's no war btw 'em cos both of them are cool and feels each other.
So like smone said:
"M.9 for prez, M.i for vice.

I think it's to generalising to say "talkin' yo u" as a track was for rugged.
The only line that has a ruggedman diss insinuations to it was even the last lines.(this baba that baba)
The openin' lines :Look jester u deluded u r not king
u'r d funny guy who does cartwheel in front of him

cldnt be for Rugged, cos rugged neva said he was king nor cld lay claim to it.

But i kno a rapper who claimed that, this rapper even went ahead to
have a "CORONATION" party where he was crowned wit a paper cardboard crown.
But yes there's been subliminals btw these 2.
I listened to a radio inteview on Rythm, where Rugged mentioned that he knows Mode was takin shot at him
in "Spectacular" and some other. Rugged to has been throwin some subliminals too.

Well all speculations r laid to rest, one has come out clearly to take d message home.
The Q now is can Rugeddy rise up to the game?
