blinx:
BDR u were almost making sense till derailed along the line. U and i know very well that Tosin wasn't refering to his voice. He was refering to his style of rap. With mode the only thing that changes is the beat and the content, the style of delivery is always the same and very old school and that is boring. Rap has evolved. Why can't mode move with the now? or is it all about the hip hop is dead, lets save it thing. Mode despite the content of his song is mostly boring. It's just in this PS that he improved a bit, but i tell u, that dude needs to do alot of work if he wants to sound intresting. Let mode give us the hip hop of now and not that of 80s. Let him bring all the content of his rap into the hip hop of today.
@
blinx
So i take the flak for what tosinadeda infered or s'pose to be referin' to not what he wrote huh.
Even at that, tho i don't self-prasie let me say i never derailed as ma train of tot was perfect on track.
Y?, i adressed what Tosin wrote, and i also addresed it from another angle.
Go read what i wrote.
In as much as i understand ur sentiment i disagree.
Most time before i comment i go back to ma itune and LISTEN.
In this case i listened to PS and i totally disagree that the delivery ws the same and borin'.
2ndly, i skimmed tru Ruggedy,M.i, Em, JZ, Royce, crookedi and i do not see major shift from the delivery
pattern they are known for on most tracks. Apart from the beat changin hence the tempo delivery was almost the same.
Yea i know versertility in ridin a beat is cool , i don't think M.9 fell below par, at least not in PS.

great lyricist no doubt, if not the best in nigeria cool
but there is a difference btwn having a talent and knowing how to use it undecided

yes we know ure a great lyricist, but what are u doing with em lyricshuh
guy aint exploring his potentials
sounding the same evrytime
he's got to be versatile!!!
@
tosinadeda
my guy, c'mon
Even after PS where M.9 flips raga, mid temp, fst temp and all u still say he SOUNDS the same?
I'm shocked. But again lets agree he sounds the same, i ask Y not.
Does JZ, Nas , Em, Common, Royce SOUND differently on diff. tracks?
U sound ur voice, so do u change ur voice?Except u havent found ur voice.
Some artists whose talk-voice is different from
their rap-voice even try to SOUND the same, it's consistency and it's very key.
How else dyu want to know who's singin or rappin  if the artist switches how he SOUNDS.
U gon be like-hey who's that? kind of sounds like so and so but not really- u get?.
Tpain has been advised to lose the vocoder sound effect on his voice so fans can identify his
original voice and KNOW it because what happens when vocoder is no longer cool.
So SOUNDing consistent is  reSOUNDingly SOUND smiley

NA TRUE u talk , the difference is clear, just like tosin said Mode is better on lyrics than rugged but he doesn't really kno how to blend em with sweet beats like Rugged.
Mind u i analysed mode's whole album and strike out those ones he used in disn Rugged. Its about half of d pressent tracks in da album. I could show u if u demand. What does he mean sayin half of tha raprs are wack and can't do songs with em. The guy brags too much about his lyrical knowledge which is one thing i dislike about him
@
darequam
Majority of rappers brag. What one should ask is whatever u brag about dyu really have the braggin' right for it?
So if u braggin bout lavish livin' diamonds, moet, covorseir, porsche, dubs and 1st class, dyu really live it up?
And if u braggin bout ur lyrical "skillery" are u livin it up? U get ma point?
I rmember sm1 sayin M.i doesnt diss, i had a good laff and advised the dude to get a cotton bud.
They all diss, at least most of 'em, it's d way of hiphop, but M.9's just comes across more blatantly because of his phat lyrics.

@
y'all
the discussion bout M.9 and Ruggedy has never been who's got more money, more air play etc,
but who's a doper emcee, who's a lyrical monster, who wuld rep. Nigeria better internationally.
Not even whose TRACK is better but WHO is better at spittin' 'em lyrics. Most people agree it's M.9
so what the issue.

Toyota is the #1 selling car in the world. A fact. The main thing about car is the engineering. Another fact.
Mercedes is a respected leader in auto engineering. A fact. So y is mercedes not the #1 selling car. A Q?
I listen to both artistes but i know who i respect more.

If that is the issue then M9 is a 'fu*cked ass' u call nigga raw a good rapr and say rugged is whack.

Use ur sense guys,  this indicates the beef is not about rugged being wack but on personal terms.
Rugged will never tell u Mode is wack and he does even appreciate is lyrical talents, if u want to confirm this listen to 'My life' in Ruggedy Baba. Rugged just holla mia on facebook days ago confirmin M.I to be tight and even wished him success. Mind u he also made it clear his album is almost ready and commended tha producers on it.
Now mode says Rugged is wack, disn him with 45% of is album.
@
daraquam
Brov, u don't know the origin of this beef.U don't know who people in d industry say started it.
U don't know who they say started runnin mouth, so lets leave it, whether it's personal or prof.
or not, the point is they using their skill to vent which is better than violent options.
Also i think u miss an understandin of the nature of diss tracks.
When rappers battle the better of them sayin the other rapper is wack/lame is soo in.
Casi in point-F'course we know Nas is tite even more lyrical than JZ,
howeva because it's beef/diss Jay cld say Nas is wack or lame.
Do u get it?
As per 45% of PS dissin Rugged, c'mon dude, u kno that aint true.
M9 battle raps mostly so people can easily insinuate this or that.
That said, ruggedy's last alb. had at least 5 clear tracks for M.9- To whom it may concern, wont battle, To whom it may concern, my life, Waka waka. Now add the tracks that are subliminal what % wuld u have?

Sayin NiggaRaw is good is not sayin he's a tight lyricist, but truth be told NiggaRaw is like the Igbo version of Lord of Ajasa-they are both good rappers irrespective of the lingo. So understand what M.9 is sayin'.
Finally M.9 gave shout out to cats he consider good, he did to M.i, Naeto, and some other that are not really in his clique.
I'm both artistes fan so i stay objective with ma views. No hating , but i know who is more lyrical and i keep ma comment abuse free, afterall it's a forum.

[b]You rap for mechanics I rap and you panic leave you manic depressed damn it

I guess it's a desperate attempt at rhyming else why would he say that? because Ruggedman adds pidgin a lot more thatn he does?
He mad similar insinuation in "Bush Girl Behind Girl" where he said the Bush girl's favorite rapper is Nigga Raw , (to be continued)
Dude, wat are u talkin bout that line as a forced rhymehuh?
Rugged himself proffesed that he raps for mechanics so wat exactly is ur point??
And in Bush girl Behind girl the bush girl was praised over the Behind girl
and in real life interview M.9 mentioned that NiggaRaw was a good rapper,

When i rhyme i drop jaws like i killed a giant shark/
Put my hands in ur chest, rip out ur vital parts/
Step to ur man, palm outstreched, tell him to take heart - from Respekt by Modenine

Is this what u call a sick punchline?? Where are the multies??
Show me one word in that line that a primary school student in Nigeria does not understand.
And u tell me Mode9 has a vocab pool?? U gast to be kidding me.
, The message is as clear as anything i read in primary school. . . . .The morale of the story is modenine has no metaphor.

@
Saurone/daraquam/y'all

C'mon Saurone, how cld u call that line pry school stuff, lol.
Are u sayin all this bout M.9 because of the way Khanye and Javalove talk bout M.9?
I'v seen your lyrics on Nland, and they are really good, no, they are really tight.
But when people commend you they mostly say u r as lyrical as M.9(which u often call a diss) not Rugged.
As much as i know u r ill with ur lyrics i find it unbelievable to now hear u say M.9 is not lyrical and that Ruggedy is more lyrical.
Ok, lets agree he aint, then who is? U don't truly diss-or-beef-aside think Ruggedy's lyrics are more
elevated than M.9. because even Ruggedy acknowleges M.9 lyrical wizardry with 'em punchline n tite metaphors, c'mon.
It's just amazin that loads of people complain that M.9's lyrics are too complex,
and here u r sayin it's pry school level?
Ruggedy is good but when u make a honest lyrical comparison with M.9 the diff. is soooo clear.
Yea M.9 doesnt use multies as much as U(saurone) do, but till date i do not know an artiste with crazier puns, metaphor than M.9
I'm listenin to Freestyle session ft Sanchez from MalcomIX right now and, guys, this discussion shudnt come up.

That's a retarded Q.
We all know they'v been takin subliminal shots at each other.
Cos some pple will say M.9 is doin it for fame was y he kept it
on d low key
"we can tussle in d open but subliminals are better"-M.9
Ask in the industry, Ruggedy is said to have a reputation for runnin mouth.
Heard he started the whole thingy. He even talked some trash bout Illbliss aka dat iboboy too.

In one of his tracks-To whom it may concern- Rugeddy asked for the explicit diss he got in Deathblow.
Ruggedy has a good delivery, yes, im a fan, yes but he's just a bunch of contradiction. Dude aint real.
Yea,he got more cash, maybe more shows, and i LIKE him.
M.9 maybe less cash, maybe less shows, but i soooooo RESPECT him.
You guys shudnt 4get Ruggedy was a M.9 fan way back, funny wat a lil' fame can do to a boy.

And plsss Ruggedy aint cleared shit! Most of the dude than he dissed in the PLANED diss track(ehen) are still doin

chrisical:
I have listened to the album.Huh same mode 9 but this time there were deeper lyrics but apart from 'TALKING TO YOU 'and 'DEATH BLOW', the tempo was generally low.Kind of disjointed and lacking a bit of spark. I don't want to discredit this album because it ain't an easy feat to release a rap album. Anyway good one from him.AGAIN most of his chorouses were below-par.
@
chrisical
i'v also followed M9 from same time as u, but PS to me is his best effort.
PS is the most ear friendly of his works and he still kept the lyrics tite.
I'm shocked at 2 things u said:
1-ur list of tracks dat'l make it form PS
2-Ur inclusion of Africa which ft 2face, personally i hate dat song.
it doesnt reflect the calibre of d 2 artiste. Both of 'em r beta than that track.
PS has the best hooks too, so im suprised at watya said too, but anyway it's opinion.
How will u not add my skin is black, Nine, Spartan, Bigboy Rap to the list
Those r fiyah tracks.
His delivery was also varied on PS, im like those teachers not a generous with marks
but i'l give PS a 75% or rather i'll just call it d 1st 9ja Hiphop classic album.

I think M.i vs Naeto is a good pairing.
When M.i came out i mentioned that he wuld eat into Naeto's fan base.
Y? Cos the both have female appeal, easy goin'-chocolatey-honey drippin'
kinda flow. And it's started happenin' as babes r now mixed up as to who's got their heart.

To the topic; i say M.i is much better than Naeto.
Reasons: he's more lyrical, more witty, he could switch up style(Naeto's flow is quite mono)
M.i also comes hard, never heard that from Naeto.
Tho one sounds like jay and the other like wayne for now the one makin' them gurls

I can see that the same issues in hiphop is already in pop/rnb too,
Tho i'v quietly made this comparison, lemme air it now.
Comparin' 2face to dbanj is like comparin Mode9 to rugeddy.
We know who's tighter in the 2 classes, but we also know who is
"makin wave" in both classes.
It's sad that most pple are nitwits who just wanna groove.
They fail to see the creativity put into a piece of an art,
anything that is not jumpin, club bangin' to 'em is not good enuf.
But pple, when are we goin to realise that the most important thing
in music is LYRICS?
Yea when we r talkin entertaiment, dancin' ishhh, we know d 2pple out
of the 2 categories to refer too, but plsss, when ratin creativity,
artistry, lets give honour to the 2 that deserve it in d 2 category.
That said, Tuface's nu album is a brilliant piece, i rate it well over

Nice.
However check it this way.
Rappers abroad do a lot of thing just to meet up wit the standard pple expect of them.
Do u wonder why so many actors and actresses in Nollywood n our music ind. r into cocain nowadays?
Cos they aint contented, plus what pple expect od them, and cos sensless pple of our nation ONLY
measure success by the size of ur car. U kno there r pple u kno that are sound and more brilliant than u but
taht are not earnin the kind of salary u r earnin'. That is life. But we r just acknowledgn d fact that lyrical wise M.9 is awesome.
If that translate to wealth or not is sth totally different.
Most of those rappers out there hav history of crime, drug peddlin and all kind of vices as support, f'course u kno that.
Yes we all want or need money, i want M.9 to live beautiful life cos i think he deserves it more than any in d Hiphop
industry. However not at ALL cost. There's nothin like doin what u love the way it shud be done and gettin paid for it.

Yea u cld say even those who aint after commercial success still live large, but then u gotta
compare the economy of the counrty. Have u seen the way a professor lives in yankee, can u compare wit
the way a prof. lives here? No.
Mnwhile bout M.9 not havin a car, dunno bout that cos the last time i checked he had a SUV- i think a sportage or so,
if he still has it or not doesnt change ma respect for him a a mic monster.

the best lyricists world over use less punchlines, metaphors and similies, mode is like full of it and sometimes they're off point, no disrespect to the emcee, but you can drive home your point with out loosing your audience.

If u feel lost by M.9 then i must come to d conclusion that u dont belong to his audience.
It's becos he has lots of those metaphors and punchline that we r feelin him so much!
Using metaphor, puns, simile is a skill, if u r gifted so much with it, it will show.
It's a skill u can only use to the extent that u have it, and M.9 is got loads of it.
