I guess this should answer your fear and question.

abujaniv :
Hello ddare05,
Please do not ship passports through the mail - it is very risky for him to be in the U.S. without proper documentation and the risk of theft or loss is too great. The visa is what allows people to appear at the border and seek entrance - the CBP in conjunction with the SEVIS status are what determine how long a student can stay. If your son wants to travel to Nigeria, he will need to have a valid visa for his return - if that is after April 2017, then he could apply for Dropbox while he is visiting Nigeria.
Regards,
Student Visa Team

Dear Visa Team,
My daughter's F1 Visa would expire in August this year. She will be coming to Nigeria in early July for her sibling's wedding and return end of July. Her school would resume early August.
I sought for advice from the International Advisor she's attached to, on what she would need to do to maintain her status.
The advice I got was that nothing was really required from her except to register for the Fall semester before travelling out of USA. Reading the advice quoted above, it appears to me that she should renew her F1 visa in Nigeria before returning to the USA. If this is the correct situation, can she renew the visa before expiration? Her visa wouldn't expire until early August 2017 and she would return last week in July 2017.
.

There is 1 major difference - Her visa is valid while in Naija, so she could always go back in case of denial. Mine would expire in 2 weeks before I make the trip

I want to ask you about visa renewal in Nigeria.
I am on OPT and US visa will expire in 2weeks. I would have to visit Nigeria for renewal anytime I leave thE country. I have a Canadian visa and thinking of travelling to do it there next week so if anything happens, I can come back before the existing visa expires or should I go back to Naija and take the risk in case anything happens at the embassy in Nigeria.

Also, can i send my documents to Naija for someone to apply for me via DHL. Would I be required to be present?

He forgot that those witches get 4G LTE with apply laptop and they can connect from anywhere or use their evil mirror as well

Haha! Sure boy, But wait Oo. Someone told me I can use dropbox in Naija to renew, If that is the case. Can't I send my pp, ead and other docs to folks in Naija to process it via DHL. Would my presence be required to thumbprint or any shit whatsoever?
I just want to enter naija and leave without disturbing a fly.

Isnt it risky renewing visa on OPT days be it Nigeria or Canda .

It is perfectly legal to stay in the US with an expired student visa stamp as long as your i20 is current and up to date with your OPT. ... Most people usually just wait till they change it to H1B or something else ... OPT is not guaranteed entry but maybe if you have a full time good / proper job that help at renew if you insist you need a visa stamp..... But i wont take that risk be it Canada or Nigeria ...if you are planning to extend the F1 because of a phd program or something like that then Canada might just work out cheaper for you ticket wise

I have a full-time proper job in my discipline which is STEM 3yrs, but the issue is that they aren't sponsoring and I would like to visit my folks back home sometime end of the year but dont want to take chances since I already have another option here to do it in Canada [cheaper flight]. 2 of my friends went back to Naija while on OPT and got renewed easily without stressful questions from the embassy. They said as far as u have job, EAD card and valid i-20, I am set which I have all but you know as Naija witches operate.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Holborn Apprenticeship Program. by ddbluv: 5:02am On May 10, 2017
My cousin participated in the program, he was not selected the first time, I told him to quit that is was a scam but he applied again the second time and got it. He was among eight people or so that was selected early last year. I was expecting the usual scam to pay one huge some but he was asked to bring some documents which were similar to what I used for my admission here in the US. He is currently in Canadore college.
I don't know if he is doing scam now as there is a recession in Nigeria. [IMO: Recession has always been in that country, it just hit the politifcians] #Lol... but bear in mind that people will always speak badly if things do not go as planned for them. Those who don't pass job test will say those that got it did runs, those who fail Jamb will say those with admission use connection. It is called a 'SCHOLARSHIP'.
What works for one person may not work for another person, pursue your destiny. You don't know where your future lies. I will say follow what your mind tells you, if it tells you no, my brother back out. If your mind is in it, then do it with your whole heart in it.
Be ready to have the usual travel docs when the process begin and you will be fine... Get out of that zoo asap and build your life in the western world. Best of Luck

Hi Dom

I just read about your refusal about 5 times but the changes you have made so far will make you look like an applicant that wont return...now that you have a marriage certificate, hope you didn't fill single when you applied first.

Before you go next...look through the pages...someone posted a transcript from a guy in India that was rejected like 5 times but got it at the 6th time...you can read through it and use his aproach..might jst work fr you

Goodluck

Why cant he fill married?, so because he want to study, he shouldnt marry? Except if the marriage cert was b4 he applied earlier when he filled single. If its a recent marriage cert, this will be a major difference in your application compared to the previous ones

This very necessary info given the exchange rate which is even still climbing up up ...... its not smiling at all . How long from start to finish did the process take you ?...thanks

Also this letter from school.... i no sure if every school go gree write it. Is it optional and do u think a student can still apply if d school no gree write it ?

Its the normal process for filing for OPT... it takes 90 days and you can must have completed 1 academic year. So you can file 3 mths b4 you complete 1 academic yr i.e. If you enter Aug, you can file around Feb ahead of Mid May so it will commence when u finish exam.
School must write for you, you have to explain to them very well. Mine knew about it but did not know the process, we both read it together and reasoned the best approach to get it.
You have to plan ahead in this country. You apply for PhD now against next yr fall. Everything in this country na planning and it takes time. It is for those who get DRIVE, as far as your not paying for it, I suggest you apply for anything in this country that is free

Economic Hardship Procedure
1. Discuss with your International ADMISSION OFFICE and explain to them why you need it. Most do not know about this application, inform them that you need it to get working hours during summer or during school if you aren't working upto 20hrs. Your school need to draft a strong letter for you and you need to be in good academic standing. preferrably above 3.2
2. Download form
g-1145 - Fill the basics
I-765EH - Tick 'permission to accept employment'
Use your International office of your school address preferably for mailing
No. 16. fill (c) (3) (iii)
Leave 17 & 18
NB: It cost about $300 plus to file for this thing, but if you fill this form, they will waive it (You want to file for eco hardship and they still want you to pay for it 'Awon wehrey')
I-912 - Fill section 1,3,5,6
"I commenced my academic studies at XX university and made adequate financial preparation based on the tuition and fees advised by the school admission department for the 2016/17 academic session. However, I am experiencing a financial shortfall for tuition payment due to the decline in USD exchange rate in my home country as a result of the global oil price decline which my country is totally dependent for foreign exchange. My home country government placed a halt on the sale of US dollar for international tuition payment (you can use the recent ban placed on banks for forex transaction 'NOTE - You will probably be applying by Feb/Mar 2017'). The alternative source [parallel market] currently sell at ~ N450 / $1 (That is if e never pass N500 by then) compared to my initial budget at N250 / $1 when I commenced the program last fall August 2015 and has been difficult to purchase. This policy has caused a shortfall $4,444 (based on your own calculation) for my tuition and living expenses for the spring semester and possibly shortfall for 2017 fall semester.

SAMPLE
Tuition [Old Rate] N2,500,000 @ N250 $10,000
Available N2,500,000 @ N450 $ 5,555
Shortfall ($ 4,444)

Furthermore, I have not been able to secure an on-campus job this current term (or I have not been able to secure sufficient working hours < 20hrs ) and would like to seek authorization to work off-campus which will enable me cover the shortfall to a reasonable extent."

OR

If you have a family member (or sponsor)who has lost Job, use the resignation or sack letter. Or even anyone sef.. The person shud scan like last 3mths bank statement

Fill line 16. make sure you divide the semester school fees into 6 (Monthly fee) and fill the rest.

The catch is not to sound like a broke dude but someone who is trying but something beyond your control hit you.

Submit your school transcript, you may or may not submit your own bank statement too.

Write your letter, almost same like above but explain your circumstance better

Your school too should write letter for you stating why they believe you should file for it, stating Nigeria economic and political woes. You can site . They should also state why on-campus job is insufficient for you (e.g. shops are closed in summer / winter OR insufficient opening on-campus). They should also state you are in good academic standing and can combine work with studies if approved.

Prepare ahead so you won't dull come holiday period. However, if your in Houston. You don't need this. Opportunities abound there without any work permit

Anybody who cannot get on campus Job and don't want to do illegal work should hola me. i.e. If you came January and there are few opportunities in your school during winter OR you came fall and your not sure there will be on campus opportunity / you couldnt get CPT job in your field.
File for Economic hardship and site Nigerian economic and foreign exchange woes to get authorization to work for any company outside campus.
NB: This is very helpful for undergraduate students who have 4yrs of school, master student, its only if you have extra 1year or semester then it may be helpful.
I was the first in my school to file and I got it, I can put you through if you need it. Also, you can use the authorization to work 40hrs sef even if your restricted to 20hrs, employers dont send just make sure you they pay you cash after the 20hrs.

That's why people were advised that stem is nothing as opt employment is getting harder everyday. If you studied under stem and couldn't get job in your field, just say bye to opt extension. I studied chemistry, I managed to get opt employment as a quality assurance (my field) after waiting eagerly for about 5 months at home, the month my 12 months opt would end is the same month I got my green card interview invitation. I secured the green card within 7 mins into the interview because this lady interviewer won't stop loving and talking about my wife's Harvard masters degree and her suit. I didn't even thinking about the damn stem extension because to me the opt year is a period to rethink about one's direction, and it pays.

If a person changes his course because of stem/opt, I would say the person has missed it. If a person would change course because of healthcare or IT field etc, well, I would say maybe the person is informed.

Lucky you, I am in my final semester, luckily if it even qualify as luck sef my course was approved as STEM last semester. Still yet, all calls I get from boys is to get married. STEM OPT is no guarantee, you'll do the 1yr , get the extension 2 more yrs. Companies hardly file for anyone except if its IT field. BTW,, How come nursing students don't go through all this? I know hospitals don't file for nurses and physical therapist so i heard. This last semester, I am taking 3 course pere, na to hunt for babes remain.
NB: An indian girl in my school just finished MBA 2yrs 15k / semester = 60k. Didn't get any job offer, she heard my course (Finance) is now STEM, babe registered for MS Finance after doing MBA by taking another loan from home (India). It was then the cotton wool in my eye cleared that this American dream na SCAM, it is all about ur money, they sell you dream that 1 great job is waiting blah blah blah...
This is a risky advice but I'll say it cos everything in life is a risk...
You can follow this steps
You can reach here, register for skul,
get a job on campus in the first 1 month and obtain SSN
Try and also apply for Driver license within that month (Sept)
leave the skul without paying tuition fees, make sure they don't have your SSN so it will be recorded as bad debt since they cant track you.
Move to another state (Big City) where you can do under table
use that tuition fees to do arrange, or do register for all dating sites (do the payment option not free), or go to Walmart to find babes strolling
after marriage and filing, you can register for any skul at a cheaper rate or live your life.

BECAUSE... Even doing PhD sef don't have automatic H1B, some finished without jobs, just wasted time doing it to prolong the inevitable.
or you finish STEM, you finish OPT, you finish Extension.. What next .. Pack your load and go home.

Conclusion: It is advisable to do a STEM Course, preferrably IT, or go into the healthcare field but there is no guarantee and the probability of filing H1B reduces each year. There is the new option naija boys and girls are doing which is the military route.
If you've stayed in the US legally for 2 yrs, you can register for Active (4yrs) or Reserve (6yrs). The requirement is an interview in either Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa, so if your from a minority tribe and can't speak. OYO lo wa.
Lastly, no 1 knows what new policy will be implemented by Hillary or Trump. However, 1 thing is for sure, they can not stop MARRIAGE ROUTE... Dat 1 na hin sure pass

Gosh..... i hate round and round circle in bold. .. May we never get caught up in this circle . It can be frustrating

That why me i recommend students checking other options such as applying for Canada PR when they are students in the US so at least u have a definte path to citizenship outside of Naija and if u miss d USA so much u go back later as a Canadian which is an easier work permit TN visa..... instead of this round and round and round and can be back to square one with nothing.

Do not give wrong info... A Canadian PR who got express entry cannot obtain a TN visa. It is only for canadian CITIZENS...regardless if you got a job offer in USA

Vo: why technology management?
Me: as a project monitoring engineer and a leader in my dad's company, I want to create value for the company using technology and other resources to solve problems and improve efficiency and effectiveness in the areas of project management, safety and general engineering skills so the company can meet a global standard as this would also enhance the socio-economic development in Nigeria.

Vo:when did you graduate?
Me: 2010
Vo: what have you been doing?
Me: after my nysc, started working in dad's construction company as an assistant project monitoring engineer, went for a six month course in OSHT and got promoted to my present position as a PME.
Vo: ok, are you married?
Me: yes.
Vo: why are you not travelling with your family?
Me: I am not travelling with them because I am not moving permanently to the state. I am only going for studies for 24months after which I would return to Nigeria to join my beautiful family.
Vo: smiles,whos paying for this?
Me: my dad,engineer.........
Vo: what does he do?
Me : he's a civil engineer, the chairman and CEo of.......also into estate management, buys, sells and develop prperties.

Document circumstances of economic need: write a personal statement to USCIS describing the cause of the economic hardship and the effect that it has had on your personal finances, and attach any relevant documentation (example: proof of currency devaluation). Explain in the statement why other on-campus options are unavailable, or insufficient. Prepare a monthly budget outlining your income and expensesComplete the forms I-765 and g-1145, enter (c)(3)(iii) for item 16 on the form.Obtain two passport sized photos, photos must have been taken within 30 days of submitting application to USCISPrepare copies of: I-94 front and back, ID pages from passportPrepare a $380 check or money order made out to Department of Homeland SecurityIf applicable: prepare copies of any previously issued EAD cardsMeet with your International Student Advisor to request a new I-20 with DSO recommendation (bring the above documentation when meeting with advisor)Student will receive an e-mail from the Office of International and Cultural Affairs when I-20 with economic hardship recommendation is ready to be signed by the student.  Student will then send a copy of new I-20 with application materials to USCIS.Ship all documents to:

Yeah, I heard its 1 year. Thats why I want to submit my application now since it takes 90 days for processing like normal OPT. Besides, I figure it'll be 1 academic year by the end of this semester so I can use it for summer work. Or is it 1 calendar year? They did not state it categorically. The international advisor office gave the go-ahead to apply as they have not done the application for anyone before.
If you know someone that has done it successfully before, please link me for more info. Omo! Nobody told me I had to pay for credit hours to register for CPT. I had banked on making cool money in summer, Never knew I had to pay to get authorization.
Anyway, thank God am still not in naija suffering heat, fuel scarcity, high cost etc. Also got good news of recent and today. My course got approved for STEM and the government has increased STEM OPT to 3 years.

I mistakenly filled an application for 11 people, 10 serving as dependent on the group option. I then filled the 11 receipts on a dropbox form and a pdf file was created. I later realized dropbox was for under 14 years who had travelled previously to the USA.
I now want to rectify it by submitting the application at the appropriate channel but the receipt shows it has been utilized, I sent mail to the personal feedback on the application portal but no word yet. I was told to pay another fee (about 350k) which is absurd as the receipt has not been utilized because I have not submitted the application.
Pls what can I do or who to call to unblock the receipt?

Maybe you chose the cheapest product. I use CONAIR and it works fine. I learnt a valuable lesson since I came here, don't buy stuff because its on sale at ridiculous price, buy what you need and make sure its quality. Walmart and co selling cheap stuff, its rare you find long lasting goods from them. Most of their products are temporary,
As per Amazon, read VERIFIED CUSTOMER REVIEWS, very key before making purchase. It might not be the same but you'll have an idea of what you want to spend your hard earned money
