Grandma and my sisters |
Who am I to complain when the creator of Heaven and Earth have spoken, who am I to question God on the time and method he chooses in calling one of his own. And yesterday, Monday 17th of August my dearest and beloved grandma was called by her Creator, her Alpha and Omega, her Comforter, the only love she ever had since the death of her husband many many years ago. Dear Lord, who am I to question you, for I am like a pencil in your hand and like you did with my grandma, you can call me anytime you deem fit, same like everyone reading this right now. Nne Odukor, I might not be with you in your last days, but I know for sure that it was not in your plans to leave us this soon....(crying) you never planned to die, who dies on their way to Church? (sobbing) but my grandma did anyway, she was not strong physically, yet she won't miss Morning prayers in the church, that's how much she loved God and everything God related, her voice due to old age might not be that sweet and slickly but she would always want to lead every song during morning prayers. And on 17th of August, I guess God could not take it anymore he had to call His servant to come join Him in the throne of Grace and it was that humble call my grandma obeyed as she slump on her way to Church. Big Mama (as me and my siblings fondly call her), I bless God for making me know you from my childhood to adult age, you taught me things no school could have ever taught me. You brought up my mum with the fear of the Lord and till date my mum is yet and will never deviate from your teachings. You were never a rich woman, but the little you had then you always share with me when ever am going to school( such a mother), when ever am in Oba but I don't come to visit you in Umumpama you complain to my parents, because you always love your grandchildren being around you. Nne, I know you never planned on dying at least not for now, for once I know God took you by surprised, He did not tell you how badly he wanted you in his kingdom. if He did, I know you would have summoned your children and grandchildren to have your last moment with us. I know you would have led us in praise and worship and as usual you will start with "good morning Jesus" and the way you sing it was funny then but right now, Nnem please I miss that voice of yours, please come sing for us once more, i promise i won't laugh. Ezinne, I miss you. Your memory will forever remain in my heart, in tears i write this today, but in joy will I tell my children (your great-grand children) about you. Nne, you lived a good life, we that are left to mourn you are highly proud of you, we loved you for you have first loved us. God bless you Grandma (Odukor) God bless you Nne God bless you Mrs Charity Nnoli And may your gentle soul continue to rest in the Lord's blossom. Amen With love from your Grandson Arinze Esomnofu.

PMB: A 'CHANGE' THAT LISTENS By Arinze Esomnofu 08031391676 arinzeesomnofu@gmail.com This government of 'change' headed by President Buhari have proven over time that it pays a close and listening ears to the outcry of public commentators, and it is indeed a sign of the Democrat in Buhari. Thumbs up, Sir. Firstly, I raised the issue of Hate Messages against the Federation that my people listens to daily under the disguise of 'Radio Bafria' and if the Radio and its leader Nnamdi Kanu is not put to check, that it will bring about a calamitous dent to the image of the South Eastern people and also it will lead to violence in the region, something am greatly against. Writing against Biafra, weather through print or online media, is never an easy task because Biafra is most time seen as the 'Holy Grail' of we the Igbos, for we grew up with touching stories of the war. But that should not mean I will keep shut when an individual tries to pursue personal agenda forging on the soft side of my people, calling the Nation we know (Nigeria) a Zoo. The complaint was raised by myself and also other columnist and political commentators raised the issue through different articles directed at 'Radio Biafra' and 'Nnamdi Kanu' and not have this government of 'Change' looked into it, but it sprung into action blocking the transmission of the station and going after its engineers. Great move !!! Later on, I took a strategic view into the appointment made so far by President Buhari and how to a large extent it have been North favouring, http://www.naij.com/483367-buharis-ministerial-appointments-are-north-favouring.html appointing 8 out of his 9 appointments so far from the North even excluding North Central entirely and once again. President Buhari responded through his Senior Special Assistance on Media and Publicity Garba Shehu stating that Buhari still have numerous appointments to make and as the Constitution stipulated he is going to abide by Federal Character, hear him “I think President Muhammadu Buhari is sensitive to the diversity of this country. He has more than 6,000 appointments to make. Therefore, why would anybody use less than 10 appointments to judge the President on this matter? Again, it boils down to the lack of patience. This man is an experienced leader. Nigeria stands to gain from the accumulation of wisdom that he has garnered over his long life on earth. He has sworn to an oath that he’s a President of all. This government will make as many as 6,000 appointments. And he is bound, even if he doesn’t wish it, by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to reflect federal character.” http://www.punchng.com/news/buhari-to-make-6000-appointments-presidency/ and true to the words of President Buhari last week, the Director General of The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Mr Ziakede Akpobolokemi and on Tuesday July 21st NIMASA appointed Mr Calistus Obi from Ihiala Local Government of Anambra State as Acting Head of NIMASA. Earlier this month, after careful observation on Nigerian's reaction to his appointment, President Buhari appointed new service Chiefs and this time around it was not from one Region alone and from a critical look it was one done strictly on Meritocracy. Again kudos to this government of change.!!! When the infamous decision to remove the Military from checkpoints Nation Wide was made by President Buhari, there was a strong public outcry in disapproval of the decision and while a few political commentators opined that the President being a Man with Military History will stick to his guns and stand by the 'Check Point' decision, our Dear President did not rather he listened to the voice of Nigerians and he reversed the decision. To crown this piece am going to excrept an article by Dele Momodu titled "An Afternoon with President Buhari" hear the Man " Fellow Nigerians, let me confess that in over 30 years of writing no President has ever reacted directly or positively to my constant admonitions, lamentations or commendations. Rather, most of the time, their aides, cronies and acolytes used to fire darts and barbs at us from every direction." I don't know if someone is actually seeing a pattern am drawing here because Dele Momodu have said it all, in his 30 years of writing, that no Nigerian sitting President have reacted directly to his submissions but in President Buhari he was amazed by a 'Change' he was amazed at a President of the most populous black Nation, showing such humility and such gesture towards Public Opinion. Don't get me wrong readers, no one should opine that the President only makes corrections after making a wrong move, far from it. Because I have witness different scenarios where a Leader makes a terrible decision and even in Public criticism, He or She stands by such decision either saying the decision will be appreciated in the 'fullness of time' or that the decision was made in respect to National Security. At this junction, fellow citizens we should not look so far for 'Change' for it is coming to us in a form of a listening President, and for once in a long time our Opinions matters and it is sharp, like the edge of a sword. Irrespective of the fact that Nigerian is presently practicing Democracy, I strongly believe we are also in practice of a form of government I will call 'Opiniontocracy' that is, a government based on public opinion. |
I seriously don't understand the reason for posters pasting, or is he expecting us to vote him 'Party Chairman'. PDP sha |
There was confusion on Okwanga Street, around
Uselu Quartres, in the Egor Local Government
Area of Edo State on Tuesday when a 45-year-old
man, Osayande Ekhator, died during a deliverance
session at a Pentecostal church in the area. It was gathered that the man had been taken to the church, Hope Ministry, also known as Holy Ghost Deliverance Centre, by his relatives for spiritual cleansing on Monday, due to an undisclosed ailment. He was also said to have indicated interest in the spiritual exercise. It was, however, learnt that tragedy struck when some residents heard a loud cry from the church only to discover the lifeless body of the deceased on the floor of the church. The death of the man was said to have attracted a loud crowd of curious residents and mourners. Some angry youths were said to have stormed the church and vandalised property. One of the residents, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Osayande “probably fell on a hard object”, as there were blood stains on his head. “I think he must have hit his head somewhere. I saw blood on his head when his body was placed in a vehicle,” the resident said. The father of the deceased, Pa Ekhator, said he knew that the deliverance session had gone wrong when his late son was thrown to the ground, with his hands and legs tied. “They tied him up and threw him to the ground. Then, they poured a bucket of water on his body. “When his mother queried the action, they said that was the usual practice. Then, they said they wanted him to rest; but after about five minutes she came out crying that Osayande was dead.” Osayande’s sister, who did not give her name, lamented that her brother was “beaten to death by his deliverers”. She said, “They beat him to death. They removed the clothes he wore, bathed him and gave him another clothes.” The Resident Pastor of the church, Mrs. Isoken Ekundaye, denied beating the sick man to death. “We don’t kill here. We don’t beat here. If they bring insane people, we heal,” Ekundaye said. When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Stephen Onwochei, said the pastor had been arrested. The police spokesperson added that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for investigation. follow me on twitter @arinzeesom source: www.punchng.com/metro-plus/man-dies-during-church-deliverance-in-benin/

An Appeal For Justice In My Case: Punish Me If I Am Guilty, If I Am Not, Please Exonerate Me By Noble Eyisi (Suspended SUG President UNIZIK) Dear Sir/Madam: I, Noble Eyisi, the impeached and suspended Students’ Union Government President writes this letter as an appeal for justice in my case. I was elected the Students’ Union Government President on the 11th of December 2014 and was inaugurated on the 15th of December of that same year. After my election and the Christmas break, on the 5th of January, our government embarked on the reduction of transport fare in the university from N30 to N20. At first, it seemed an uphill task as the drivers went on strike but with time and by God’s grace, they were back and conformed to the new N20 transport scheme. This gave us a very good recommendation and applause from the university management, students and citizens of our state and country. To be candid, the reduction of the transport fare to N20 was a huge sacrifice from the part of the Students’ Union Government as I, the former president sacrificed the sum of N20,000 per day from the Transport Trust Fund (TTF), a sum of money collected by the SUG from drivers. This Transport Trust Fund (TTF) was illegal and unconstitutional as it extorted money from the students (the higher the TTF, the higher the transport fare). For the general students, it brought us love and goodwill as we have helped them save N10 whenever they board a bus, shuttle or keke but from my fellow executives, Students’ Representative Council members (though not inaugurated then) and the judiciary, it brought me hatred as they felt I took away their daily bread because they were supposed to benefit N8,000 daily from the illegal Transport Trust Fund (TTF). I was by God’s grace able to navigate the ship of SUG despite pressures to bring back the Transport Trust Fund (TTF) up until second semester. Before the resumption of second semester, I called my fellow executives for a meeting where I pleaded with them and convinced them to buy into my idea of reducing the price of food from N200 to N150 inside the university campus. They all accepted and agreed to it, the food vendors were called and most of them accepted but due to the imminent first semester examinations, we weren’t able to begin implementation. At the eve of second semester, I brought to the notice of the students our decision to bring down food price from N200 to N150, which they all loved, accepted and supported since it had been a cry in their hearts and it began working as most food vendors complied. But this policy was greeted by a strong university management resistance. The Vice-Chancellor called me expressing his dissatisfaction with it and asked me to make things right. I felt so sad but I had to obey my superior. So I rested my case, very much against my wish but my students felt that their rights, expressions and feelings were being trampled on. Even if it meant that the rent collected by the Commercial Ventures of the university from the food vendors be reduced, let it be, but let the interest of the general students be heard and protected. Since the university management did not want the policy to see the light of the day, I felt so sad and decided to rest my case, but at the same time, my students still felt cheated. Despite the management’s high-handedness on them through increment of fees, institution of new fees, intimidation by university security agents etc, the management still wanted to extort money from them through the food prize. With the new implementation of dues by the management and other increments, the students began asking me questions relating to monies which they were asked to pay which was new in the system, increment in some fees and so on and this led me to write an 8-point letter to the Vice Chancellor asking him questions which my fellow students have been asking me. Please sir, find attached an exact copy of the letter I sent to the Vice Chancellor. (Attachment 1) It may also please you to find out that there are still other issues which I did not point out in the letter which includes: Increment in the General Studies (GS) fee of Year one students from N1,000 to N4,000 Increment in the Continuous Education Programme (CEP) school fees from N35,000 to N39, 800, Payment of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) dues of N2,500 and yet there is no clinic, how much more obtaining free medical treatment; amongst many others which may still be hidden to me. After I gave him the letter confidentially on the 4th of May, he called the management staff of the university, entire executives of the Students’ Union Government, the Speaker, Students’ Representative Council and the Chief Judge of the Students’ Judicial Council to a meeting where he countered the entire letter point by point. In the meeting which held on the 8th of May, my phone was seized from me and I was almost slapped and intimidated by words spoken by the management staff present in the meeting. I still felt unsatisfied with the response he gave us and unfortunately the letter got to other fellow students. While the whole situation grew tense, the Students’ Union Government bus under my care was seized from me, my friends were arrested and threatened and I too was threatened by the Personal Assistant to the Vice Chancellor. Please find attached a copy of this letter (Attachment 2). It is also important to note that the University management never gave me money for the maintenance of the SUG bus, though I have written to them on countless occasions, rather my parents had always provided me with the money with which I have continuously repaired and maintained it. Meanwhile, instead of addressing the issue, the Vice-Chancellor instigated my fellow executives to sign a vote of no confidence against me where they accused me of a 5-count charge. It is also attached here sir (Attachment 3) and after the impeachment, I responded to the charges and sent them to the Vice Chancellor of which I am yet to get a reply to (Attachment 4). The response is also attached. My fellow executives also sued me to the Students’ Union Government Court on a three-count charge, based on why I brought down the transport fare from N30 to N20, why I removed the illegal and unconstitutional Transport Trust Fund (TTF) and why I reduced the price of food within the university which was all student-oriented. While the whole situation was growing tense, I thought the Vice-Chancellor would have managed the situation well despite media reports, rather he mandated that I be removed quickly from office. Please sir, newspaper reports from this issue are also attached here (Attachment 5). The only condition he gave me to remain in office was to recant all I said in the letter by calling a press conference which I will address. I was suspended from being the Students’ Union Government President of the university on the 18 May, on a Monday, which was not the normal day the Students’ Representative Council was to sit. The suspension was unconstitutional and also on the 22 May, I was impeached. This was made possible by the Students’ Representative Council members who had strongly been influenced and bought over by the Vice Chancellor through their Heads of Departments, hence, they ensured I was impeached and more because they were threatened that disobedience would result to problems in their different courses. It will also please you, sir to note that the suspension as the Students’ Union Government President was done by the veto power of the Speaker as majority of the quorum of the House seated on that day were against it. After my impeachment, students were really sad and feeling that their rights had been trampled on, On the 3rd of June, a peaceful protest was conducted of which I was also part of. After the protest, I kept on attending lectures regularly and on Monday, 8 June, a court order was served to the Vice President and Speaker by the Anambra State High Court against my suspension as SUG President and impeachment. On the 11th of June, on entering the university, I was arrested in the university by a personal security aide to the Vice Chancellor. I was intimidated and from the Administration Block of the university, I was dragged into the security van of the university and taken to the State Security Service Headquarters of Anambra State located at Amawbia. There and then, the Director showed me my suspension letter and I was asked to pack my things immediately and leave the university and also that I should not be seen in the university until further notice. I was also asked to sign an undertaking to this which I did. I kept on asking for a copy of my suspension letter but no one gave it to me. Accompanied by security agents of the university, I packed my things and left. It will also please you to note sir, that on the morning of 11th, a circular had already been shared to all the security agents in the university that I should not be seen in the university as I had been suspended. It was given to them by the Chief Security Officer of the University. All this happened even with an order of the Anambra State High Court which I had with me. Please find attached the statements of the court order (Attachment 6) and the Chief Security Officer’s circular (Attachment 7). All through my stay as the Students’ Union Government President from December up until May, it had been a selfless service. The only amount of money I had ever received from our SUG account which should be autonomous was N70,000 which served as my take-off grant. It came weeks after we had written a letter to that effect and ever since then I have never received any of my entitlements as the SUG President. Even a transport route in the university which the SUG ought to be in charge of as an Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the welfare of the students was high jacked by a personal security aide to the Vice Chancellor, Mr. Anayo Anizoba and when I brought up the issue, the wife of the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Gladys Ahaneku called me and asked me to take 40% of the money and leave the remaining 60% to the security aide which I disagreed to. Finally, in a country where people’s rights are being trampled upon, I still believe that justice must be upheld. I’m a very young, patriotic Nigerian citizen of this great country who decided to serve my country in the capacity of Students’ Union Government Presidency of my university, and all through my service in office, I have fought selflessly for the rights and privileges of my students. I don’t deserve to be kicked out of the university considering the fact that I have not been involved in any illegal practices or misconduct. All I have done was for the best interest of the students and for the good of my country. I sincerely and desperately appeal to you as a father to look with pity upon me and consider my case as I have no one else to run to. Thank you very much sir for your time, understanding and resolution to intervene on my behalf. God bless you. Comrade Noble Eyisi Department of Political Science Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka

Trut:that's the problem with most of you. because u want Biafra does not mean the entire Igbo race share the same opinion with you. I am Igbo, from Oba In Anambra. but I don't want Biafra for it is not necessary now. we are not be threaten in Nigeria at any point, am presently in Sokoto under going my youth service and nobody have harassed me for a second. Nigeria is what we have now, let's make the best of it. Ask yourself why have not of our lawmakers moved any motion for Biafra.? Why would Ojukwu contest for the office of the President of Nigeria in 2003 and not Biafra.? Why was Bianca a Senator in Nigeria and not Biafra? Why did Ojukwu Son Emeka contest for Federal House of Reps in Nigeria. And these people are supposed leaders of Biafra, or are they not? Are you sure to a 100% Ndubuisi KANU won't neglect the Biafra struggle if given the right price? Umunemm, when the need for Biafra arise no one can stop us, but now is not the time. let's allow sleeping dogs to lie. I rest my case. you can contact the author of the original article via mail on arinzeesomnofu@gmail.com or 08031391676 |

My dear Brothers of the East, permit me to greet in a more familiar manner "kedu, how market?". In my last open letter to you, http://www.naij.com/447082-its-time-for-igbo-people-to-emerge-as-nigerian-leaders.html I tried to inform us on the need to unanimously push a leader to the center and call that person the Igbo's consensus candidate. But instead of focusing on how we can strive for political relevance in this new administration, some of my fellow brothers clamoured for the movement of Biafra, an act that surprised me. Then I asked myself, " do we the Igbo's actually need Biafra in this point in time " and the answer my mind gave me with a 100% certainty is "No, we don't". Umu nwannem, have we forgotten our history so soon? Biafra came alive as a result of necessity, it came as a matter of serious urgency, it came up as a plan to save our people from the genocide that was carried out in it the North. That was why when the late people's General Ojukwu moved the motion of Biafra to the elders in the East, there was a unanimous approval. But today, throw up the issue of Biafra to the Igbo elites and you are sure to get different response. Which means the people are divided on the Biafra issue, which also mean that it will never enjoy the massive support it enjoyed in 1967 So without micing words, I am not in support of the Biafra call, but that shouldn't make me less Igbo than you reading this, And most importantly that should not mean our people should forget the zeal of our fathers that fought in the Biafra war, umu nwannem, we should not forget how we fought a war with locally made weapons against sophisticated automatic riffles by the Nigerian forces. An agitation that Gen Gowon thought is going to end by police action but it turned into a full blown war that lasted for 3 years, a war fought by farmers and blacksmiths with no technical know how on warfare, yet our people fought, in hunger they fought, they showed resilience and held on for a belief that was unanimously shared by all. During the duration of the war, we refined our own petrol locally, but today Nigeria refines her petroleum products overseas. It is that same Igbo persistent spirit I urge us to always remember, and in what ever endeavour of live we find ourselves, be it in business, as employees, in academics , in our spiritual lives and what you you. The persistent spirit of the Igbo Nation will always see us through. We the Igbos are conquerors, we never say never, even when given 30 pounds irrespective of your previous wealth in the Bank, we still deduced ways of making it. Today, we are the first class entrepreneurs of Nigeria. Now imagine that there is a country called Biafra, where are we going to start from? How much will our Biafra pound be against the dollars ? Do you think the people from the South with their oil rich land will follow us, to a Biafra they will be seen as minority? Who will be the leader of Biafra? Because I know most of us don't see Uwazurike as their leader.( I wonder how he became leader in the first place). So when I start thinking about the step it will take Biafra to move to a developing Nation, I know it will be next to impossible. Nigeria for 54 years of independence is still struggling to stand on both feet. If am to open my heart, then I must admit that the issue of Biafra to the South Easterners is always an emotional topic any day anytime. And for me, Biafra (the land of the rising sun) will always be dear to my heart, for i grew up with touching stories of the war. So instead of reading this piece with a bias mind, I humbly ask for the reverse. Biafra was a situational approach to a problem and even the founding father of Biafra Gen Ojukwu accepted the fate of our beloved Biafra as 'memories' that was why he aspired to be an Executive President of Nigeria in 2003, the very Nigeria some of us are now clamouring for it's division. Bianca the wife of Ojukwu after the death of Ojukwu was made Nigerian's Ambassador to Spain. Also the Son of Gen Ojukwu, Mr Emeka Ojukwu contested in the 2015 Federal House of Representative in Nnewi North and South constituency. These actions by the supposed leaders of Biafra what does it tell? It's simple, it means that they now believe in Nigeria and its unity. Can any of us to a level of certainty beats one chest and say Chief Uwazurike wont accept a presidential ticket of A.P.C or P.D.P if given as a mandate by the peiole? Can we say for sure he won't, if no, then who is fooling who? My dear brothers of the East, my submission is simple, let's start seeing Nigeria as ours, because in true sense Nigeria is truly ours and we have no country aside from Nigeria. After all, it was one of us that was the first President of Nigeria, Ifeanyi Ubah made his wealth as an Igbo Man in Nigeria, Prince Arthur Eze is an Igbo that made his money here in Nigeria not Biafra, what of the owner of coscharis motors and Innoson motors and a whole lot of them both Men and Women, these are people that made it in this Nigerian without clamouring for Biafra. And who says you can't join them in making it as Nigerians, umu nwannem I tell you today, "Yes, you can", Biafra does not guarantee you absolute success. Let us see ourselves, the Yorubas, Hausas and other ethnic groups in this country as one indivisible Nigeria, and together we can fulfill the dreams of our founding fathers. Umu Nnem, at this end, I urge us to rather "stick with the devil we know rather than the Angel we don't". "a bird in hand is better than hundreds in the forest " God help us article written by Arinze Esomnofu arinzeesomnofu@gmail.com 08031391676(SMS only) please follow me on twitter @arinzeesom source: http://www.naij.com/469518-open-letter-to-igbos-forget-biafra-focus-on-national-unity.html |
1. The Copy and Paste Masters: These set of people, would remain silent in the group waiting for a message to paste. All those annoying messages that ends with "send to 20 people and you will receive good news next week in your life" As if God now have a Whatsapp account. 2. THE NUMBER STEALERS : These set of people, won't even do the courtesy of " hi" or "sup" they will just go to group info and start collecting number of opposite sex with cute D.P. Then you will receive a message like this "hi, am Dapo, I got your number from YORUBA STUDENTS GROUP" as if that explain why you should collect my number in the first place. 3. INTERNET PREACHERS: These set of people are the holier than thou people, all they do is to send a long sermon with different Bible verse and a prayer at the end. Knowing fully well that 95% of the Group participants won't read their epistle talk less of bringing out their Bible to read the verses. 4. GROUP COMPLAINERS : these set only type something in the group to inform you that you people are finishing his/her MB or that you people are killing his/her Battery. 5. PICTURES GURUS: These set of people, you find almost in every Whatsapp Group. they won't chat, they won't greet, they post only pictures in the group then they leave. Next day they come online they post another picture then they leave again. 6. OBSERVERS CLUB: These are the people that no matter what, they will never type anything in the group. If you like call their names a thousand times, they won't reply, yet they are in the group, year in year out. And they read virtually everything that happens there. 7. ANTI GROUP: these set of people are against anything called a group page, once you include them in a group, its like you have stabbed them in the heart. The first and last thing they will say in the group is "who created this group self" then next thing you will see is 08031391*** left. 8. BOSSY ADMIN: how I hate these set of Admins, as if Whatsapp pays them for the job they are doing. Always giving orders here and there. And they don't fail to let you know that they can remove you from the group. 9. ONLINE MARKETERS: Sometimes I wonder how much they make from disturbing people with fake links like "learn how to make 200,000 monthly by just pressing your phone" or " get 10gig for just N1000 " as if na their Papa get MTN 10.UNNECESSARY CHATS This to me is the most annoying of them all, these set of people mostly two or three persons, and they will start discussing matters that are private or personal to them in a group page, matters that no matter how hard you try you won't understand because you were not there when the incident happened. Yet they will bring such discussion to a group page. Feel free to add some of the annoying things people do in a Whatsapp Group. DEDICATION: Am dedicating this to "EFFICIENT ADMINISTRATORS" Whatsapp Group and also "GORONYO CORPERS" Group. |

Lordave:please what agitation are you talking about? When was the last time the igbo race unanimously agreed on the Biafra movement. Late Ojukwu that agitated for Biafra did so because of the genocide in the north then and general injustice melted to we igbos. Will u say that thats the case now? The essence is not to wake sleeping Biafra now, but how to strive about political relevance here. Biafra to me now is daydreaming plz if ur Igbo dont turn this trend to a Biafra agitation trend. It is not the intent of the author. Once again i ask, we should show forth our leader, and i will render solutions on how to push the individual to the center. Thank you. |
AlfaSeltzer:before calling me aboki check yourself properly and ask who is the aboki, what is 'alfa' doing in your monika |
AlfaSeltzer:we should stop mentioning Biafra here because its far from our reach for now. Lets focus on craving for political relevance like we have done in the past. |
ginawest:for how long won't we care? I say we identify a leader and push the person straight to the center |
AhmedMustapha:dear Ahmed, we are all one Nigeria, but at this time the Igbo race needs a strong leader. unlike you people in the North you have many leaders that commands strong followership. |
SHOW FORTH THY LEADER (An open letter to the Igbo race) by Esomnofu Arinze arinzeesomnofu@gmail.com 08031391676 My dear brothers of the East, the political balance of our people is being threatened and for that sole reason I pick my pen to write. The Igbo's have since the inception of baby Nigeria in 1960 held top government role in the Center, no wonder an Igbo Man ( Late Dr. Azikiwe ) was the Head of State of Nigeria. Even when the Military came in, it was first headed by an Igbo Man in the person of Late Gen Ironsi. Since after the "no Victor, no vanquish " statement by Gen Gowon at the end of the civil war, the Igbo nation have lost its political relevance at the center and the closest we have come is the Vice Presidency during the 2nd republic. An average Igbo man is an entrepreneur, an average Igbo man is seen as a hustler, they are not tired of new ideals, so long it fetches them more money. we don't sleep when others sleep and I guess that's what have been keeping us going. And that's the Igbo spirit, we are conquerors. My dear Brothers of the East, have we been able to transfer our societal lives to our political relevance? then the Big answer is "No" and who is to be blamed for this? is it our Igbo leaders or the Igbo populace? I guess you will answer the question yourself after reading this piece. When shall we have an Igbo President ? if you are of Igbo origin reading then I crave your answer. President Jonathan tactically added Azikiwe to his name and we all followed him, calling him one of us, but is he actually one of us? because the Jonathan I know is an Ijaw man. How many vote did Ojukwu get during the 2003 Presidential election, a number not even up to 30% of the total voting population of the Igbo's, yet he was always tagged a leader of the Igbo's. who is fooling who? "Igbo's show fort thy leaders" Senator Ngige many tagged as a political powerhouse in Anambra could not even win the last senatorial elections in Idemili South. "Igbo's show fort thy leaders" Gov Rochas had to struggle through an election rerun to return to Douglas House I ask again " Igbo's show forth thy leaders" recently one of us, Ifeanyi Ubah showed an uncommon act of patriotism by deciding to release fuel (P.M.S) to various fuel station in the country at normal pump prices and some sit at the comfort of their homes criticising this act of Patriotism by our brother, and I won't be surprised if fellow Igbo's join in the criticism, for we are very good at that. Ifeanyi Ubah, for sacrificing profits that can be made in this fuel scarcity to the good of the nation, I call you an Igbo leader, we need more people like you in our pursuit of relevance. My people, "umu nwannem" our Major problem over the years have been identifying one of us, positioning him/her to the Center and backing that candidate all the way. If we can do this with the application of few political calculations then we will be at our rightful place, which is the Zenith of the political affairs of Nigeria and not struggle for the appointment of Secretary of the Federal Government. God help us all. (ndi Igbo, umu nwannem) |
Mrbigman1:i see the aluta spirit in you bro, keep it up. 2gada we can. |
AN OPEN LETTER TO UNIZIK STUDENTS (ZIKITES) By Esomnofu Arinze (Unizik Alumni 2013/2013) arinzeesomnofu@gmail.com 08031391676 It pains my heart to see my beloved alma mater Unizik on the news of late, for what many tagged "wrong reasons" but are they are really wrong reasons? I doubt. It is no news that the SUG PRESIDENT Comrd. Eyisi Noble is facing challenging times, and his only crime is carrying out the duties he was elected for by the students. how I wished we had such "Daring" character of an SUG President during my era as a UNIZIK student. When Mr Eyisi Noble first came into office, many people felt no need to celebrate stating that "he will be one of them after all " but over time, Mr Noble started looking into the plights of students and gradually he started winning the hearts of Zikites. Firstly, Mr Noble reduced the price of transportation inside school from N30 to N20. a step many ex President before him could not achieve, and to achieve this Mr Noble Eyisi have to sacrifice the "sacred Cow" of past SUG executives which is the transportation Tax paid by the school public transport drivers. It was a fund that could have been enriching Mr Noble with at least #20,000 daily, but Mr Noble sacrificed this to achieve the dreams of a reduced transport fare in UNIZIK. Today, transport inside school is now #20 all thanks to President Noble, but trouble starter mounting when he started making move to reduce the price of food sold inside the school from #200 to #150, this time the school authority mounted pressure on the President because they are not ready to sacrifice their own "sacred Cow" like President Noble did with the Transport Tax. Also the President saw some irregularities in certain increments in the school and he decided to write the Vice Chancellor and all hell was brought loose, and now the President is being persecuted for what I personally will tag "bringing back aluta consciousness " in Unizik. Last week members of his executive passed a vote of no confidence in him and on that note the Student Representative Council (SRC) brought up an impeachment suit against the President citing different reasons that would not hold water in the long run. Reasons I wonder if they were just noticing now, or there is a silent motivation behind the move. Once again the President is facing persecution for doing his elected duties. Zikites now is the time to stand and back your SUG President, let him know he is not alone in this struggle, over time he had stood for you, now he needs you to reciprocate. Don't let him down, don't let people to mock him saying " who does he even say he was fighting for" History lingers and if President Noble that attempted breaking the norm is impeached then, that is the end of vibrant Student Unionism in Unizik, for future SUG Presidents will cite Noble's case and withdraw every aluta spirit in them. So in essence Noble should not be impeached, he should not be used as a scape Goat for daring to believe. Am I calling for demonstrations if need be "YES" but it should be peaceful and violence free, it should be one carried out without any hatred of any form but as a tool of getting back the norm. This little light of aluta consciousness that have shone in UNIZIK, let us keep it burning. |
