Stealthy: To be fair, Deportivo came back from a 4-1 defeat against Milan. That, to me, ranks as the greatest comeback in UCL history. How can you (little Deportivo) even believe you can recover from a 4-1 defeat against that great Milan side? Kaka, Nesta, Maldini, Pirlo, Shevchenko, etc...

After that is last night's Barca victory, then Chelsea against Napoli (last season), Barca against Chelsea (2003 or so when Rivaldo's team came back from 3-1), Monaco against Real Madrid (3-1 after losing the 1st leg 4-2 in Madrid), etc, etc.
yeah I would call that deportivo comeback the greatest myself. Not aa single person has called last night the greatest. I get your point. What I hate is double standards. Before the game media people including nairaland warriors were going on about how it had never been done coming from a 2-0 loss. They made a whole meal of it saying barca will not qualify. Now its been done thay want to water it down. No way, we have made history.

The major bad decision by the referee last nite turned out to be the major good decision. His refusal to award pedro his penalty turned out to be a blessing in disguise. If that penalty was given, everybody would be shouting uefa now but look at what they made us do! 4-0 humiliation. Where are all the conspiracy dogs now?

usbcable: I REPEAT T.H.I.S. IS NO MIRACLE.

the only reason it seems a miracle is because of what the media created of the three losses from Milan and Los Blancos.

if recovering from a 2 nil deficit is a miracle what will you call a 3 or 4 nil comeback.

most games average a 2 goal scoreline hence loosing by 2 nil is no BIGGIE. no dey mind those jornalist jare. they too must sell and chop money nah.

the alleged downfall of Barker will most def be a hotsell.
why are you guys like this? Why are you saying this now? Before the match everybody was talking bout how recovering from a 2-0 deficit was never heard of and how barca would likely go out. You didn't make this comment then. Now its been done and like it or now history has been made and now to you its no big deal!
Now lemme explain something to you. This is not coming from 2 or 3 goals down in a game. This is coming back from a 2-0 deficit in a home/away fixture. One side comes into a fresh gme with. 2 goal cushion, the other comes into the gme with a 2 goal deficit with no away goal scored. This is history. It is a 'MIRACLE'

The great don andreas iniesta. He glides through opposing defences like he was invisible. Should be man of the match if not for messi. Defence did a yo man's job esp pique. And mascherno. He is never the ideal centre back. He should be used in his defensive midfield role. He always has that last big blunder left in him!

Stealthy: An audacious plan for AC Milan

I believe we can win the match against Milan on Tuesday and by 2 or more goals too. But we cannot play like we have been playing recently; in fact, even our normal game will hardly be enough to overturn the 2-goal deficit.

If I had the chance to coach Barca for this game, this is the line-up I would start with:
Valdes, Alves, Pique, Puyol, Mascherano, Alba, Busquests, Song, Iniesta, Messi, Villa

At first glance, it looks crazy! We need to score, yet I have suggested having almost all our defenders on the pitch. But here is the plan:

• Alves and Alba will play essentially as wingers. Barca has two of the best wingbacks in the world and I don’t think any defence can really cope well with the quality of Alves & Alba when they play at their best. But we often under use them because they make these great runs, get past opposing full backs, yet have to cut back and pass into the overcrowded centre since there’s hardly anyone to cross to in the box, especially against these tight defences.

• Song and Busquests will form a double pivot, protecting the central defence of Puyol and Masche from potential Milan counter attacks with the wingbacks so far up.

• Pique goes up front and plays as a central striker, along with Villa. Pep and Tito/Roura often use Pique as an emergency striker when we are desperate for goals, but this time, we need him up there at the start, not at the desperate end. Pique is taller than most of the Milan defenders and he is the only one with the size and heading quality to partner Villa for the crosses. So we will have 2 people for the wingbacks to aim for and trust me, Milan’s defence isn’t the toughest out there – Villa/Pique have a good chance.

• Messi will operate from deep, alongside Iniesta, but both of them are free to roam as they wish. Messi withdrawn frees him from a congested area but with his speed, he will still get into goalscoring positions.

• With the wingbacks messing around with Milan’s fullbacks and Pique/Villa keeping the CBs busy, Messi and Iniesta will have a lot more space than in the 1st leg and they can do a lot of damage from the centre.

SUBS:

• At half time, Masche can be subbed off and Pique goes back to defend with Puyol. Tello comes in to join Villa upfront and now Milan defenders have to worry about Tello’s speed in addition to crosses from left and right. I won’t start Tello because his speed is even more effective when the defenders are somewhat tired from a busy 1st half.

• Later in the 2nd half, I’ll bring in Adriano for Alves: his instruction is to cross/pass half the time and the other half, cut in and smash a shot towards goal. With Adriano’s speed, energy and fierce shots, we keep the Milan defence on edge.

• Last sub (hopefully after we are 3 goals up) will be Alexis/Pedro in for Villa. This is to keep up the pressing to ensure we retrieve the ball quickly anytime we lose it.

No central midfielder in my plan: Xavi is just recovering from injury; Thiago is not yet ready for this high profile match; Cesc has been poor of late. Yes, we will lose some possession with this kind of plan but better to win with 55% possession than lose with 75% possession.

On the other hand, this plan ensures that we have our 3 tallest players (Song, Pique, Busi) on the pitch and we are less susceptible to corner kicks (and we also have a better chance when we try to score from corner kicks).

The constantly-changing tactics will also affect Milan’s plan because like every team, they probably have one plan to stop Barca: cage Messi and leave the flanks to Barca’s ineffectual wingers. They will definitely not expect such a big departure from normal Barca.

It may seem like our first priority is to score 2 goals, but for me, the 1st priority is to keep a clean sheet. If we are only 1-0 up in the 80th minute, there’s hope, but if we are 2-1 up in the 80th minute, there’s no hope.

PS: No insults please. If you disagree, just state your own preferred line-up and let’s enjoy the match (and hopefully Barca goes through)…

that's a plan right there, but I would feature the best keeper of the ball in world football if he is 80 percent fit. So I replaace villa with xavi. So potentially we have an aattack of alba, alvez, pique and messi. Potentially we have a midfield of xavi, iniesta, messi, song. Potentially we have a defence of alba, alvez, puyol, pique and mascerano. My 3 subs would be adriano, tello and pedro. If mother luck smiles on us we win by 4-0. I remember the first copa del rey semi final versus madrid, xavi, fabregas, pedro missed sitters. With a lil luck we could easily have won 3-1 at least. If we are. 2-0 up at half time, we be in the ports next friday.

Mourinho: The better team lost

NEXT VIDEO

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has a history of playing with ten men and accepted his victory over Manchester United.

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has said he was on the receiving end of a worse injustice than Nani's red card at Old Trafford on Tuesday, citing Pepe's dismissal in the Champions League against Barcelona two years ago.

Mourinho sympathised with Manchester United after Nani's controversial sending off in the Champions League last-16 second leg triumph for Real at Old Trafford, as the winger was handed his marching orders for a challenge on Alvaro Arbeloa.

Jose Mourinho consoles Nani as he is sent from the pitch

The ex-Chelsea boss said, though, Madrid had been even harder done by in their 2011 semi-final with Barca, as Pepe's red card in the first leg against Josep Guardiola's side at the Bernabeu had come at 0-0 in the game, and was brought about by a dive by Barca's Dani Alves.

Tuesday's incident was different, as Nani's challenge on Alvaro Arbeloa had been a foul, although perhaps a yellow card would have been a better decision, the Portuguese coach said.

"I think [Manchester United boss Sir Alex] Ferguson was like I was a couple of years ago about Pepe's sending off against Barcelona two years ago," Mourinho said.
very well said elampiro. If I hear say you no get A for your project ehn! Although one guy I would never quote even in my next life time is jose mourinho. The biggest hypocrite the world ever saw!he admitted a lot of things, from saying the best team lost to saying abeloa was hurt to saying he had bEen a victim of worse red cards but one thing he still hasn't said is that his team got the unfair advantage and nani was wronfully dismissed. Mr mourinho should say that himself. If it was madrid that got the red and lost out he would never call man u the best team and he would have given a million press conferences already. Now he wants to compare nani's red card to pepe's. Nani's red card was still even worse than pepe's. In nani's case he got the man but there was no malicious intent but in pepe's case he missed the man but there was a malicious intent. Maybe a yellow would have done it for pepe but it was never a lesser evil. So nani's sending off was still worse.
Yes you can't rule that out for sure because you are not Nani! Whether he knew he would get sent off is another matter entirely
While I can't definitely prove Nani saw Arbeloa you can't prove he didn't see him either because you are not in Nani's head so you can't conclusively say he didn't see him either
Your reason does not apply! When an innocent man flees the scene of a crime he becomes an accomplice! Nani's case was not a life or death matter so why did he go out of his way to cheat? Its a deterrent for players not to resort to such disgusting tactics

The important thing is this! Nani's kick yes it was a kick to Arbeloa was dangerous play! Offense #1
Instead of either getting on with the game or in the spirit of fairplay check on who he kicked he chose to roll on the floor feigning injury to try and con the ref! Offense #2
lol, being in the crime scene makes you an accomplice? you think say na nigerian police I de talk for here? The crime scene here refers to nani being involved in the clash with abeloa, innocent here means an innocent nana who didn't see abeloa charging towards him, and running from the cops here means rolling on the floor and feingning injury. It makes sense think about. And one more thing I have to be in nani's head to know he didn't see abeloa? When the full replay is right there on youtube and everywhere for the world to see? Common man!

Record after record after record. With almost every kick of the football another record falls. Last week he became the top classico scorer all time. Tonight he becomes the only man in history to score in 17 straight games.
