Messi claimed 38 votes for the newly-created award, putting him some distance ahead of Barcelona team-mate Xavi, in second place with 11 votes, and third-placed Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who received just three votes. *despite winning the European Golden Shoe grin*

The UEFA Best Player in Europe Award is given to players on the basis of their performances for club and country. The award is designed to replace the old Ballon d'Or award for the best player in Europe, which has been supplanted by the FIFA Ballon d'Or award for the best player in the world.

Going by barca's pedigree and current status as defending champions, we would even top a group of port oners( e.g barca, madrid, man u, inter). So this una barca, man city, dortmund and shaktar pairing is kids stuff, a piece of cake. Barca, world's most hated club.

Yes Barca is an excellent team, arguably the best team in the world currently.
But in football no matter how good you are, you win some and lose some. The win percentage of a good team will always be high.
With Barcelona (in the UCL) whenever things are not going their way then there is a miraculous intervention.
You have succeeded in mentioning the big matches you won without controversies, that's good but every team can do that.

PS. There is never any controversy between Barca and Man Utd
but sir i have a post above where in many cases barca had decisions agaainst them in the ucl. Plus yes no controversy btw man u and barca. We only have controversies with mourinho's teams; from chelsea to inter to madrid. because the man is an embodiment of controversy. He is controversy in human form. If controversy were a human being, she would be mourinho.

@dabraska. Yeah barca cheata alot. Like madrid 5-0, like man u 3-1, like man u 2-0, like arsenal 4-1, like bayern 4-0. Most teams when they get anahilated by barca, they then hide behind this conspiracy theory.

It doesn't end with cheating you on the pitch, you also get banned and fined when you complain after the match.

A day will surely come when GOd will release champions league matches from Barcelona FC.

PS Can someone please let me know who was responsible for malfunctioning of camp nou's watering system when Inter was celebrating last year

1- 2004 porto versus manchester united. Daylight robbery as Paul schole's goal was disallowed for off side when in fact he was clearly clearly on. 2. Inter versus barca- another robbery as inter scored an offside goal in leg 1 and got away with a legit goal against them disallowed in leg 2. The 'special one's both champions league medals are as flawed and as dubious as can get.1- 2004 porto versus manchester united. @dippsette or what do U call urself its  obvious U watch football shouting and later listen to d news to be told about d match u claimed to have watched, moreso i would guess by d look of your posts U shuld b a teenager or just immature @ public forums, try to b more objective wen u participate in discussions U hear, or esle mourinho wouldnt be D only 1 doing D poking,
the only one who is immature in this scenerio is the adult coach who decides to get involved in an altercation between players and as much as lifts up his hand to the face of another coach and then shamelessly tells the world he will not apologise.then the only one who is not objective here is the one iam having to explain this reply to. Apparently you love poking too, well i dont. So you and your special one can tangle. U could poke yourselves then, not in the eyes, nostrils or mouth but further down below where it wont hurt much nor cause any damage.

If the word 'flop' was coined to define messi's performances for argentina, then that word is one which ronaldo would give an arm to be qualified with in his purple and green jersy.

One player plays one match in a season and scores a hattrick (goal/game +3), another plays 50 games and scores 50 goals(goal/game +1). so who's better? Comparing two payers and using goal/game when there are a million reasonable and clear cut statistics begging to be used.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Cristiano Ronaldo Vs Messi Who Is Better by ddippset(m): 4:01am On Aug 23, 2011
No such thing as barcelona has the best team in the world this that and all that bullsh*t. Barca, madrid, man u, chelsae, arsena, milan, inter, bayern. These teams have more than enough finances and quality to bring out 100 percent in any player. If ure in any of these clubs ur teammates are top top class. U cant do without them. Last season madrid had no business losing to gijon, drawing with depotivo. If they didnt they mite have won the league. 2 seasons ago they lost 2 alcacon in copa del rey, lost to lyon in uefa, so telling us about barca's good players is lame and cowardly.

Oops too much anger from freddy coogar here. Too many petty details, haggling back and forth like some melon seller. Who's gonna read all this essay? Keep calling me names and keep throwing cheap shots, i aint gonna do that with u. I just keep giving you something to think about. Ronaldo can have all the shots on goal, goal/game, but let messi keep winning the awards.

A coach wants to go to a country and win the league immediately. If he doesnt its trouble. A coach wants to win every match. If he doesnt, its touble. A coach who has benefitted from referee'ss mistakes countless times does not want another to benefit. If it happens its trouble. A coach raises his hand to the face of a colleague and the press clamp down on his frustrated la liga campaign, and its trouble. That coach is the special role model to some people here.

mourinho is an embarassment to football. He ruined is character by poking the other fella, its even worse he refused to apologise. What he doesnt understand is that he brewing hatred from other teams and referees. Cant wait to see his downfall this season. Real madrid players ought to be ashamed. Did u guys see what he did when messi came close how he waved his hand as though something was smelling common thats just childish. I have no respect for him anymore.
