I don't see anything special about this project. All I see is an attempt to convert a regular motorcycle to the shape of a powerbike. The most important questions to be asked are: 1. How efficient is their "powerbike". In other words, how far can it travel? and 2. What top speed can it achieve? 3. How does it compare to fuel based bikes? Several metrics can be used (weight reduction, cost of production, ease of maintenance, etc). And these were not addressed here. An experienced tinker can construct a better looking "powerbike". Someone made a really good looking Harley Davidson with rafia ( https://www.nairaland.com/2365141/motorcycle-made-akwa-ibom-nigeria). I will rate that a better project than this based on the information provided in this post. FYI, I am Igbo, so this isn't tribal bashing. |

mashin: I feel conserved about this, am not writing this because am a proud type, but for the Glory of God almighty, i have stayed with my fiancee for 7 years and 6 months, we graduated from the same university, we did our traditional wedding on the 24th of October 2015, our white wedding comes up by November 7th, though we trusted each other, but i still have to confirm from my Gynaechologist, that my wife to be is a virgin @ 27, and currently running her Msc.
You too can do it to the glory of God, it pays to be faithful to God. We hope to wed next week and hope for a good job and a God fearing family.
If you practice, you can get use to it. It was hard for me, to take my mind off at initial stage, but God helped us till, we became the last one standing among our peers. You went/plan to go to a gynaecologist to confirm that your wife is a virgin? And where did she take you to confirm your own virginity? The both of you are sick in the head. Neanderthals. |

Shymm3x: But why's ya Eze wearing a crown, with all kinds of regalia - while trying to force his own laws on a land he's foreign to? Who bestowed the rights to do that on him?
See, the problem with Igbo folks like you is that: you lack the cerebral prowess to process the simplest things...and everything you do is purely based on emotions, hence you drag all types of references out of context to suit ya blame game fantasies. Again: what's the correlation between Yorubas meeting in America, and a fraudulent King trying to force his authority on a land he's foreign to? I'm sure all the Yorubas in Michigan pay their taxes and obey the state laws...and if they don't, I trust the yanks to throw their arses in prison cos it takes the slightest thing to throw the black man in prison to pick cotton in America. It's no different from how Americans in Nigeria meet up - or Brits in Nigeria, who even have a British village. However, have you ever seen Americans or Brits try to force their laws on Nigeria, even in the oil and gas sector, which they dominate? There's no harm in expats in a foreign country meeting up.
If a lot of Igbos aren't uncultured - why the need for Kings everywhere, when Kingship is foreign to Igbo culture? You come across as an ignorant and unrepentant mumu. Seriously. |

GentleToks: Can you imagine this!!!! If Obi Onitsha has a special day to celebrate their deity/gods, that's tradition and everybody is expected to respect that. The Obi of Onitsha perceived Ngige to have disrespected that, hence, the curse on him which Igbos never condemned. The same thing about what we are discussing here. You are not allowed to wear your cap in Oba palace in Yoruba land.
Let me bring Western world-UK into this; this is a country that is over 300 years old
Why must i write English test as a commonwealth country citizen before obtaining British citizenship? Why must i shake Queen without hand gloves? Why must i bow down to the Queen?
In Yoruba culture, it's a straight forward custom that you don't wear a crown or cap to King's palace.
The ridiculous thing about all this is that White people who came to Nigeria on a visit even take their caps off while visiting palaces. Why our neighbors who should know better. Listen, i am not here to argue with you over this; there are times we need to say the truth and shame the devil. If things get out of hand, Igbos ll be forced to close their shops.
Obi of Onitsha is paying visit to Deji of Akure, nobody ll stop him from wearing his crown. Exactly the same form of threat that keeps coming out of the so-called sophisticated people. Violence/threats of violence is the resort of those who cannot debate/argue constructively. I have already rebutted your argument regarding the Obi of Onitsha and Nigige situation. I will not repeat myself. |

GentleToks: Why do you guys pick something out of nothing? All i said in that post was that nobody is asking Igbos to pay any form of Owo ori or Isha Kole; the only thing demanded of Igbos is respect to their hosts.
What a funny submission!!! Why did Igbos praise Obi of Onitsha when he cursed Ngige for organising and holding his political rally on the same day of his traditional rite? Igbos praised the Obi of Onitsha on this. What makes the submission funny? First of, stop generalising. I am Igbo and I never heard nor praised the Obi of Onitsha for cursing Ngige. And even if he did, and even if he were supported by all Igbos (which is not the case), how can that be equated to having an Eze ndi Igbo in Akure, or an Eze ndi Igbo wearing a cap. Did he organize a celebration which conflicted with that of the Oba? Your comparison is a strange one. By the way, why would anyone demand that Igbos pay any useless levy because of tribe? And because it is not done in Akure, you want Igbos to be grateful? How many of such fare do you pay where you live? You people never cease to amaze (and I don't mean it as a compliment). |
Politics › Re: 'We Are Your Subjects & Children'- Eze Ndigbo Akure Moves To Reconcile With Deji by deadie(m): 11:21am On Oct 20, 2015 |
GentleToks: The real Akure Indegenes are not living in Akure cos people naturally prefer to stay away from their home town. 80% of Akure Indegenes live abroad( Outside Nigeria and within South west with few outside South West).
The remaining 20% are our parents, siblings who are still in Schools and the traders. However, in that 20%; 12% are not educated and these are the guys that could make that state ungovernable for any state government. Mimiko and Agagu know much about what i am saying here.
The population of Igbos in Akure is not up to 7% of the total population of the whole Akure population but they are freaking enjoying themselves to stupor as result of peaceful co-existence and good relationship with Yorubas in that city.
Igbos are so comfortable in Akure that Igbos are not referred to in the Neighbourhood as Igbos. They are so comfortable that they celebrate their yam festival on the street of Akure.......
Why would they want to disrespect the King of that City knowing fully well that, that would turn Akure Indegenes against them. It ll only take a day to destroy all the Igbos business in Akure by these miscreants who might seize this sort of opportunity to wreck havoc on Igbos businesses. All Igbos businesses are concentrated in Ilesha garage, Esso all the way to Ondo bypass and of course Arakale. Pls, how long would that take thise Akure indegenes to attack these three places? Less 6hrs, all the efforts of an innocent Igbo man would be gone in flames. Why would Igbos give room for this when no one is disturbing you?
All Igbos need to do in all Yoruba states is to show some respect to their hosts. Its the same story in Western world despite their development and social exposure. If it all end up in a war, Igbos would be asked to leave, does that make sense? No.
Please, i op they would all come together and leave happily as we were back in 80s/90s. My friend in which country do you live? Where they talk about "hosts" and "visitors" for citizens of the same country? You are unbelievable. And we are supposed to be citizens of the same country. |

GentleToks: I have lived half of my life in western world-UK/US
In UK, the Queen throne is English heritage and over the years, Scottish, Irish and Welsh people have been made to respect that throne as if their life depend on it.
The Scottish, welsh and Irish don't come to England and tell the English to Bleep off with their cultural heritages despite the fact that they are all British.
They know that, that would be suicidal and the same thing applicable to English people. English people don't go to Glasgow to say jack about their traditional values.
I want you tto check out some video on YouTube in which both sides were fighting over the same issues we are discussing here despite their over 300 years of co-existence.
Let's be fair in our judgement, can any Yoruba man or Hausas go to On its ha and disrespect your traditional values? Igbos would scream blue murder...... Have you forgotten how Igbos were so happy when Obi was alleged to have cursed Senator Ngige for holding a political rally on the day of their traditional ccelebration? Igbos praised their King over this perceived barbaric act(To other people who are not Igbos).
We didn't hear the same Igbos claiming that Ngige right was being infringed upon by the Obi of Onitsha. You see double standard It surprising to hear that you have lived half of your life in the Western World and still support this nonsense. I also don't reside in Nigeria. So, where you live, are the black people, Scotts, Irish or Welsh people pay a special tax because they are not English/American? How many English/Americans demand that you (A FOREIGNER for that matter) thank them daily for living in their land or for a property you bought with your own money? People have a right to elect who they want to represent them (irrespective of the name it is called). If you want to have an OBA OF THE YORUBAS anywhere in the SE (just as Eze ndi Igbo means Eze of the Igbos), you are welcome. You guys better find something constructive to do/argue about. So much for sophistication. |

GentleToks: I am an Akure indegene and it's a known fact that Igbos have enjoyed a peaceful co-existence with Yorubas in Akure for years. You need to see the Igbos in Akure to know what i am talking about; they have literally become Akure bona fide indegenes with their children speaking the local dialect fluently.
However, it will be suicidal for Igbos not to be boundary conscious like their Hausas/Fulanis counterparts who are equally at the same level with Igbos as far as business and population are concerned. The Hausas/Fulanis own all the shops in Sabo along Odo-Ijoka road towards the state stadium and all the way towards the mini Sabo along Oba-Adesida road. They own all the shops in the Sabo at Odo-Ikoyi junction as well as the money exchange business by Post office junction towards Oba palace.
These Hausas/Fulanis are making their freaking Benjamis but maintaining and keeping low profile. Igbos need to learn that spirit of humility and respect from these Hausas/Fulanis.
In eventuality of Igbos being seen by Akure indegenes as tribal enemies, the outcome could better be imagined. Those guys aren't smiling menh cos war/fight is their daily watchwords. I believed that some Igbo elders witnessed what happened in Akure in early 80s(Omoboriowo riot in which Akure indegenes were burning and killing people on the streets).
I ll implore Igbos not to allow the money they have made to get into their heads cos money is the bane of all evil. The peace and sanity they have enjoyed over 50years in Akure should be protected and cherished at all cost by obeying and respecting our traditional values. That's the only demand(Respect our cultural values) of Akure people from Igbos and others unlike where Igbos are being taxed by the indegenes. Nobody is taxing or demanding all sorts from Igbos in Akure and this alone should be appreciated by Igbos. Tax Igbos specially because they are not Nigerians? The sense of privilege and entitlement that some people have is seriously mind-boggling. Only in Nigeria will people think that not being taxed specially because of tribe is ought to be appreciated/celebrated. And people go about wondering why people want Biafra. |

Even IG sef go wan investigate this guy[/size] I don't have a single tattoo on my body and never plan to have one. But having a tattoo doesn't translate to being a criminal. It doesn't justify his being shot, except they can prove he really tried to rob them and tried to escape. Knowing the mentality of the Nigerian military and police, I will say he was lucky they didn't kill him. My roommate (Chikwado, very smart guy ) in the university (UNN) was killed together with his cousin in PH by the police who claimed he was an armed robber. They later recanted this claim to a case of mistaken identity when it became obvious that the victims couldn't have been robbers (smart guy was doing his internship in PH). I think the Catholic church got involved in the case. I would vouch for Chikwado with my life. Never trust what these men in uniform say. |

Most of you guys have passed through my stage and I hope you understand that this is the stage where you start having feelings for the opposite sex. So I hope this doesn't sound like I'm a bad girl or something like that. I don't want you to say things like "what is this generation turning into?" because I'm very sure it happened in the previous generation and there are evidences such as the single mums that i see that got pregnant then. Long story short, there is a boy i like and he likes me too and he just asked me out. I made it very clear to him that we are not going to get intimate and he is very okay with it. I know you'll say it can happen by accident but i know that the only place we can get intimate is at a lonely place so all I'll have to do is to avoid it. The thing now is that do you think getting into a relationship at 16 is quite okay. Mind you, I'll soon be 17. I asked Sanusi and he replied "YES OF COURSE!" |
