charix:
Its not a negative side to advancement, its more of a positive. I remember my parents recieving an American telegram dated October 1st 1991 in November 2001.
In response to your question the last time I patronized NIPOST was back in 1996 and stopped immediately I discovered email. At least in 1996 it took two to three weeks to deliver letters.
Nowadays even with lower workload from everyone employing the use of emails NIPOST is still incompetent as banks I opened accounts with in the UK post me official letters which take a month plus to recieve. Most times the information recieved is already outdated due to the time gap.
.1996? Bros you no tryoo

This is one of the negative sides of advancement in technology; now people has completely withdrawn their patronage to our post offices. Most people felt no need to use the post office once their is the GSM, computer and internet facilities. Sure you are one of them *rolls eyes* When last did you use the post office?

It's Possible the man is just acting out/ experimenting what he saw in a recent movie to her and is not really up to anything. lol
But seriously, the man must not be planning nathin as some implied. Maybe he doesn't like the lady that much and have been seeking for an opportunity/ justification to play away match. Poor lady just served him that on a platter n our guy is grateful (as against hurt).

JABEZ
In 1 Chronicles 4 vs 9 - 10, there the Bible choose to pick out Jabez from the generation list (of begat and begat) to talk about. He was noted to be more honourable than his brethren, but he wasn't blessed. Why, his own mother cursed him through the name she called him because she travailed in sorrow before he was brought forth. Honourable but cursed not blessed! Until, he (Jabez) asked God for blessings which was granted, he lived in sorrow. Although the bible didn't make any record of a name change, but we know his name had an effect on his life and destiny.

ABRAM and SARAI
In Genesis 17 vs 1 - 16, although God had been using Abram and his household, but for a new covenant to be enacted, he changed their names from Abram to Abraham (father of nations) and Sarai to Sarah (mother of nations).quite insightful
Christianity EtcRe: Does People's Name Have Any Effect On Their Fate Or Destiny by DEagle1(op): 2:53pm On Dec 21, 2014
Oahray:
out of your list, only Abram had a name change, and this was simply to reflect God's promise, not because it had the power to limit God's blessings.

Jacob simply had an alias, for several years later, God called himself the God of Abraham, Isaac and JACOB. Jabez' name wasn't changed but he got blessed anyway. Simon Peter was still called Simon by Jesus after his resurrection. Saul simply started using his Roman name, Paul, more often.

Names are simply names, and most times our life and actions define our 'names', and not the other way round. Some persons named Goodluck have died in accidents. Some named Elijah have proved by their actions that they do not truly acknowledge God.
Your opinion

Christianity EtcDoes People's Name Have Any Effect On Their Fate Or Destiny by DEagle1(op): 8:24pm On Dec 20, 2014
My question is actually 'does the name that people bear affect them in life or determine their destiny, fortunes, or progress or in life?'

In the bible we can see several people whose 'name' could not allow/permit them to experience blessing or make progress in life; Abram, Jacob, Jabez, Simon, Saul to name a few. What's your take on this?

HealthEbola: Nigeria To Be Declared Ebola Free By The World Health Organization by DEagle1(op): 1:30pm On Oct 06, 2014
Contulations to all Nigerians as the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) has been effectively contained in the country. The implication of this is that Nigerians can now sleep easy and go about their normal businesses as far as EVD is concerned. This was disclosed by the Minister of health Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu in an exlusive interview. The Health Minister went ahead to say that World Health Organization (W.H.O) is poised to officially declare the country Ebola free on the 20th of October, 2014. This is in accordance of the rule that says that ''a country can only be declared Ebola free after fouty-two (42) days of the last discharged case'' . This calls for celebration, I think GEJ got it right on this one.

HealthSitting Too Long Can Shorten Your Life Span ; Study by DEagle1(op):
I came across this article on one of the pages of the Guardian and I thought I could share it here for the benefit of all because most people are guilty of this practice:
It is widely known that sitting for prolonged periods of time can have adverse health effects. But new study published in the British Journal os Sports Medicine that shortening the amount of time spent sitting could protect aging DNA and even prolong lifespan.
Sit less: the new study found that reduced sitting time is linked with telomere lengthening, which could potentially prolong lifespan.
Previous studies reported by Medical News Today have suggested that individuals who spend less time sitting have lower risk for chronic diseases- such as diabetes, stroke, brest and colon cancer- and lower risk for heart failure.
But reseachers from this study looked at how physical activity lengthens telomeres. Telomeres sit on the ''DNA storage units'' of each cell called chromosomes and stop them from unravelling or clumping together and 'scrambling' the genetic coodes they contain.
How sitting too long affects your
Head: Blood clots that form after sitting too rigidly can travel to the brain.
Neck: Fluid retained in the legs during the day moves to the neck at night and contributes to obstructive sleep apnea.
Stomach: Sitting too much contributes to obesity and colon cancer. Enzymes in blood vessels of muscles responsible for burning fat get shut off, and the body's method of metabolizing fuels gets disturbed.
Heart: A sedentary lifestyle contributes to cardiovascular disease. In people who suffer from heart failure and obstructive sleep apnea, fluid collects in the lungs and neck at night. A little more detail in September 11th, 2014 Guardian. All the best as you practice

Nairaland GeneralBy Opinion, Who Do You Think Is A Poor Or A Rich Man? by DEagle1(op):
Recently, I came across a statistical analysis put together by a reputable international body which certified that 99% of Nigerians are poor. I don't quite agree with that and my reason is not far-fetched. Most people I know own cars, houses, can afford three square meal(at least), best schools and hospitals (even abroad) , I can go on and on. I will hardly call those ones poor, infact I'll even categorize some of them as rich. Anyway that's for me, what about you? Who qualifies as rich to you? What makes one rich or poor?
RomanceRe: Have You Ever Wished To Be The Opposite Sex by DEagle1(op): 9:51pm On Aug 03, 2014
when a guy is broke you hardly notice it unlike girls that looks untidy because they need change of clothes and hair.Guys suffer 'yes' I agree but they dont look odd when they are struggling no matter the kind of job they do unlike woman.

Times like,
Last week I went to watch football match at my normal place only to get there and the place was filled up.I saw some guys standing but I couldn't join them because I was the only girl there.I wish I could turn to a man immediately.

Times like,
when my brothers are having family meeting with my dad and we will be at the door eavesdropping.

Times like,
when my dad will keep asking the whereabouts of the females in the house but wont care if my brothers came back late.

Times like,
when there is any ceremony to attend, I will keep worrying and looking for the best clothes and hairstyle to wear while my brothers will just put on their shirt, trousers and slippers and still look good.

Times like,
when i am about traveling, I will pack almost all my clothes for just a 3 days journey and end up not wearing half of it.but my brothers can pack just two jeans and two shirts for a week trip.

These are times I will look at myself and say 'If only . . . . . . . . . .'
that's what i'm talking about anyway, some people are just shy to say it as it is
Christianity EtcRe: How Does One Know He/she Is Called By God by DEagle1(op): 11:58am On Jul 23, 2014
torchwave: I said I'd further explain the methods through which God's Calling is known to the people He has chosen, so here it is.

A. Revelation knowledge from God Himself: This means God making known His Calling to the individual. He could choose to talk to the person through an audible voice or through the still small voice; whichever way, He makes His Calling and plans known to the person. In that case, it doesn't matter where the person may be. He or she may be alone or among family or friends or on their way to a place when the voice of God comes into their consciousness, but they (the ones being called) are the only ones who hear the voice.

B. Personal Prophecy: This is the most common method of knowing the mind of God concerning an individual. God's Calling to people can also be known through individuals with the gift of prophecy. He also makes known His Calling or intentions to those He calls through someone operating the gift of prophecy. Like I said, it is the most common method of knowing if one is called or not. For it to be reliable, it should be confirmed by different Christians or Leaders with the same gift of prophecy because in the mouths of two or three witnesses a word is confirmed. @ Weah96, this is where direct revelation knowledge from God differs from personal prophecy though both are from God.

C. Dreams: Another way by which God makes known His Calling to people is through dreams. When they were very young, many Pastors, Apostles Prophets and Evangelists received dreams from God indicating they were called to be servants of God. It is not unusual for them to receive such kind of dreams repeatedly over the years. A very funny fact is that if they were the kind of people who normally have difficulty recalling their dreams after they are awake, they will always recall the dreams related to their Calling accurately.

D. Vision: this is another method by which God makes His Calling known to the individuals He has chosen into the fivefold ministry. The vision usually comes to the individual unexpectedly. The person will not be aware of his surroundings and may find it difficult to understand the meaning of the pictures before him or her, but one thing is certain, he/she will see himself or herself ministering to a large crowd of people, performing healings by the Spirit of God, people rising from wheelchairs, the blind receiving their sight, and many creative miracles taking place in the gathering. Such people would keep their visions to themselves for fear of being labeled crazy and would seek someone they can confide in, someone they can trust to listen to them before they can open up concerning their visions.

No matter the method God chooses to make His Calling known, it is dangerous to rely on your experience alone. You could be walking in the imagination of your heart or, worse, be deceived by a lying spirit. That's why it is pertinent to confirm the Calling through other Spirit-filled Christian Leaders to be safe and certain of the Calling from God. Remember, the Word says, 'In the multitude of counselors, there is safety.'

DEagle1, once again you're welcome. I hope this explanation of the methods is helpful in understanding how God calls people into the ministry.

Christianity EtcRe: Christians: The Big Question Even Your Pastor Can't Answer by DEagle1: 11:04am On Jul 23, 2014
This is a million dolla question, hope there is priceoo. But to your question: The bible said God(them; including the satan as angel) made man(us) in his image; i understand that to mean qualities. Take satan out of the picture, the natural man aspires ceaselessly for power/better position all through his life time even pastors. No matter where they are they are not satisfied. I believe this quality is what satan also exhibited rather extremely and unfortunately for him. This insatiable quest for position inherent in us is why you see people like Baba Iyabo, the other baba and the other one wey loose election that time want 20 tenures. I no call body nameoo, no be their fault sha
