I was honestly expecting Aradel to get to 1500 around December this year. While I love my stocks to explode, i like them staying down for many months while I accumulate (like i did for GTB between 88 - 100) since it's not like i want to do anything with the money if it shoots up 200%. Aradel is currently almost 40% of my portfolio though...so I think I will have to forget about buying more for now nosa2: After looking at the revenue and profit break down I am starting to change my view about the company. I am definitely adding it to my watch-list BUT I cant buy an oil company when the price of oil/gas is at near record highs.
Let blood start flowing and who knows, this might just be my next darling. That refining business is super sexy |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 3:11pm On Apr 16 |
Aradel is growing its gas segment too because the opportunities are insane, and it underscores their efficiency (they make sure they process associated gas from their drillings). That's why i got into them in the first place, though I bought more of Seplat recently because i can see that the future of Seplat is bright.
LPG is a national policy. By the time most households begin to use gas for cooking and NLNG benefits from their increased capacity to supply their new trains, what do you think these companies will be doing in revenue> I honestly believe we are still in early days for O and especially G |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 3:04pm On Apr 16 |
Why do you keep saying you are bearing on O and G? Nigeria is a gas nation. nd Seplat/NNPC will do magic as they unlock. We are rapidly building out gas infrastructure with many more coming onstream. Seplat will supply gas through AKK pipeline to power stations and factories in northern Nigeria, as well as contribute their quota for the naija-morocco pipeline. Europe is on her knees begging for gas from Africa and if that naija-europe pipeline ever gets done, indigenous gas companies will be making ritual-level money...and SEPLAT is right there are the foreforont with their ANOH gas plant. You may be bearish on oil, but our gas prosperity has not even begun nosa2: Thanks for this.
What percentage of their earnings comes from the refinery business? I am bearish on oil and gas but bullish on refining. |

Hehe, we go tell you when e reach 2k . I am at least happy I put my all in it. No extra money for extra buying even though I'm about 120% up at this time nosa2: What do you guys see in Aradel? |

Well, na the same company and shares. These things have a way of balancing themselves across exchanges, so just surprised at the opposite behaviour today. For eg, yday, it was exactly $0.1...which was the N135 that the NGX version was trading at at about the same time. yMcy56: Is LSE and NGX the same? Stocks go up and down for different and numerous reasons... I've seen quite some comparisons here in recent times..... Make each Exchange dey carry its own cross o. 😊 |

What does the CBN do with the results? They read it first to check if its correct? WIll they send it back to the bank to rewrite if it's not what they want to see?. What exactly are they looking for? Byankee: Banks results coming so late started with this Cardoso CBN, April is now becoming the new normal for FY results to be released, they are forming as if they know how to scrutinise Banks.
Back in the days, we used to have some FY results in February of the following year.
CBN can be more efficient I beg, time is of essence |

Seplat is a gas play. nosa2: I am very bearish on oil and with Seplat trading with a PE of 25, you need to have titanium balls to buy at these levels |

WAPCO trading at 240. Glad i bit the bullet at 160 - 190 instead of waiting for a pullback. |

I mentioned it as a great way to get it 'cheaper' if you don't want to buy at 10500. Arbitrage trading may likely not be profitable after costs Valthegreat: Is it possible to buy in London and sell in Nigeria? It won't stay cheaper for long though. People will still rush it there and close the gap. |

I always dip my fingers in first even at a high price just to say that I have now committed myself. jonnysessy: Once a good stock is discovered just buy it, stop waiting for the dip that might not come. This is what i have come to learn in the stock market. I have missed many good opportunities because of this type of holding on. You can even buy in tranches so that you can always average your price.
Lesson learnt: Procrastination is the thief of time. |

Hehe. I suppose it depends on goals but I have not yet sold anything to book profit. If i believe in a stock, then selling to book profit is counterintuitive since it reduces my longterm profit. Willie2015: Target is N12k... I sold half of my portfolio to book profit.... Will buy the dip if it ever comes... |

N9500 too ambitious for the value that will be unlocked on the AKK and OB3 pipeline, subsequently making us a ‘gas’ nation? No wahala, let them sell their Seplat to me. Sunrisepebble: Someone said 9,500 was too ambitious. Hold onto your Seplat please |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 6:58am On Apr 14 |
Seplat traded at 10k yesterday. I got my eyes on it at 8.5-9k. Ignored opinions that implied I should wait till dividend kinikan for a dip. There is too much potential in front for such considerations. Time in the market is better than timing the market. Won’t gamble an investment decision because a stock MIGHT drop 5%…that is inconsequential for a longterm holding. If it dips to 8k, I will buy more, if it never dips that low, I have secured my bag already. Looking forward to 15k over the next year or so. |

The Kpakus discussions have been a very funny part of this thread. I joined NGX around when it started and I had very good laughs. I didn’t know Ellahlakes since I was mostly a US stocks person, but I thought it fascinating that people believed that a company worth almost nothing could raise 250bn just like that…putting themselves in the same leagues as PRESCO that has been here for decades….even possibly dragging the same acquisition.
Thank you all for the laughs. |
