KarlTom:
FOte$ already holds a sizable %.
Reason I said that I don't understand how that NNPCL stake will play out
Anything not held by the NNPC is held by Dangote. Otedola’s name is not inside.
NNPC will probably be one of the major institutional investors at/before IPO. Prolly try to get back to the 20% they missed out on before.

crownprince2017:
Based on that info, wapco is the cheapest in the cement business but to buy at current price based on my entry price of 36 looks irrational. Although I believed it's a 500 stock.
N500 ke? Please explain. Also, no buy…you go still buy am at the 500 🤣.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 8:05pm On Feb 22
Yes, I saw that news. It actually made me pause before I wrote my comment…but TBilla is different from stocks…else all that N4T should have entered Presco last week 🤣
unite4real:
Are you aware that the last Nigeria Treasury bills saw a bid of over N4 Trillion for the 364 day tenor alone?

There is a lot of excess fund in the system. I can assure you that dangote refinery IPO might hit massive oversubscription. When I am applying for it, I can only hope to be allotted the minimum required. Any other na jara. I will also expect that my excess fund will be returned.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 7:44pm On Feb 22
There will be Dangote Fertilizer IPO too. In total, it’s possible the funds needed to mop everything up go reach $3b or N4t.

Na so e go easy to oversub? That’s a lot of liquidity…and it is not the holy grail of companies.

unite4real:
The challenge with this is that there will be very high oversubscriptions and it will end up in prorating.
I remember the dangote flour mills public offer about 19 years ago, if my memory serves right, I had about 90% of my fund returned after holding the fund for quite a while. I feel the refinery IPO will be far worse due to the current hype and anticipation

Wapco is our retirement stock
Sure…until the Chinese take it private this year but Amen!. I just started buying last month. Cost basis 174. Intend to buy more tomorrow sha. I can manage till my cost basis is 180.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 2:42pm On Feb 22
He has said around 10% before. Around $2bn slot N3T. That’s a looooot of liquidity being sucked from the general population…well, asides foreign institutional investors sha.
mikeapollo:
But that is the current holding before the public offe. We don't know what percentage he is going to release to the public yet.
He may give 22.5% or more to the public while he keeps like 60-70% to himself
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 1:13pm On Feb 20
This custodian pain me small. Was looking at it around N50 (even asked about it here). Well, we can't own everything.
Stockpromoter:
Insurance stocks are moving and this may be the early phase of a major sector re-rating.

Custodian is already approaching ₦70, and Mutual Benefits is sitting on a full bid at ₦5.42. Demand is clearly building. Once leaders stretch, money typically rotates into other undervalued peers.

Royalex, AIICO, Veritas, and Universal cannot be ignored at this stage. If momentum spreads across the sector, these names could move sharply — just like we saw in Japaulgold.

Right now, insurance appears to be one of the few sectors still undervalued relative to market potential. Waiting for perfect confirmation may mean chasing at much higher prices.

Position early, or prepare to buy higher.
The sector rotation is unfolding.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 3:53pm On Feb 17
For me, I usually buy at market price just to get skin in the game first. If you don't buy at all, you may end up missing a good run. I buy at market price and then frequently afterwards..if there is a pullback, I buy some more. I always take a long view. The market price today will be considered low next year.

I first recently bought WAPCO at ATH on 156 and hoped it would correct. It went to 160 and I bought twice as much. Then 165 and I doubled down. Now it's almost 200. Imagine I had been waiting for 150.

Harddiskng:
Pull what by how many %.

Just so you know, a stock with strong fundamentals and great future prospects won’t pull back massively so you can enter lol.

Instead it will keep increasing in price.

Ask Aradel, it popped up on my criteria around 500 ish months ago. Instead of me to jejely buy at market price, i was looking to get it at a discount. Sending in a bit lower bids. E no wait for me oo, till i missed that ship (know at what price to stop chasing).

Besides i have discovered i have no reason to beat myself up on 10-20% discount when i am looking at over 500 -1,000% return in 5 years
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 1:33pm On Feb 17
I think the fertilizer is more profitable and predictable. Refinery go just dey play game with NNPC every two market days
mikeapollo:
And Dangote Refinery too! That is what I am waiting for

What is a common sense target price for MTN, Custodian, GTB, and TIP by Dec 2026 (assuming all goes well)?
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 1:23pm On Feb 17
Anyone know when Dangote fertiliser is listing? I no wan finish my money before then.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 9:19am On Feb 16
No there won't. Dividend can be expressed as a percentage of share price. So 10% dividend will amount to the same 500k.
ojeysky:
but there will be difference in dividends if both companies pay similar amount, RI as well

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 2:16pm On Feb 15
The number of shares doesn't mean anything. Think about it in percentage terms. It doesn't matter if you have 1m shares of Aradel or 10m shares of NAHCO, a 10% gain will give you the same 500k
hancock:
Hypothetically , at their current rate N5m invested in Aradel gives you 5,000 share and same N5m invested in NAHCO gives about 32,200 shares
Given both have good upscale in the next 5 years , maybe the NAHCO investment is a better choice ?

Abeg why do the bids and offers disappear at around 2:20pm even though trade is ongoing. Sometimes you set a trade at this time and it immediately REJECTS. Is it an NGX thing or cardinal stone thing?

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 1:30pm On Feb 06
Nice. Aradel was the reason I entered the NGX last year (at about 500 but now with an average cost of N610). Saw a lot of potential. Will be holding and accumulating till Jesus comes.
Mpeace:
Aradel is 900 today
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 3:19pm On Feb 05
Wow. I managed 300k units. Will have to buy anymore on the floor at market price because I can see this stock go enter N50 before December.

The Q4 results were good. I applied for 2m units of the public offer, I like the company
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 10:45am On Feb 05
Thanks. I don't care much about the dividends, only appreciation.
mikeapollo:
Custodian has been consistent in capital appreciation over the years.
If you are interested in dividends, I would suggest you compare the possible dividend yield (at current price and current (or prior year) dividend) with other yields or interest rates in the market. If you are okay, then you may go ahead and buy.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 9:52am On Feb 05
thanks!
ositadima1:
Custodian’s 2025 results look strong, but it wasn’t a normal growth year. Total assets expanded sharply from about ₦407bn to over ₦1.0tn, mainly due to acquisitions and a big increase in investments. Although these acquisitions were funded internally, they also brought in large existing assets and liabilities, which significantly inflated the balance sheet.

Profit after tax rose to about ₦67bn, with EPS of 1,119 kobo. However, earnings were heavily supported by investment income and market-related gains of over ₦110bn, compared to an insurance service result of roughly ₦12bn. This shows profits were more investment-driven than underwriting-driven.

Operating cash flow of about ₦478bn looks very strong, but roughly ₦410bn of this came from a sharp rise in trade payables, meaning cash was boosted mainly by delayed payments rather than permanently higher earnings.

Given the mixed quality of earnings and higher sensitivity to markets, I think a reasonable valuation range is a P/E of about 5x–7x, not a high insurance multiple. Applying this to the EPS of ₦11.19 gives a fair value range of roughly ₦56 to ₦78 per share (aj8 style grin). Until earnings stability is proven through a weaker market cycle, 2025 should not be treated as a clean baseline year.

Numbers first, narratives later.

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 4:46pm On Feb 02
Thanks a lot for your answer. I thought the 10% was a price ceiling, but that trading could go way above it. Learned something new today. Thanks!
yMcy56:
The amount, 16.45 is simply outside the -/+10% band for today.

TIP's closing price on Friday 30/01/2026 was N14.95
The +/-10% band for today will be:
Lowest price (-10%) = 13.50
Highest price (+10%) = 16.40

* Note: If you do the 10% calculations, it will give you 16.49....but looking at the Per Value movement of TIP, it's 0.05

* So the Mvmt will be in the range of +/-0.05
E.g. 16.10, 16.15, 16.20, 16.25.......16.35, 16.40....

** This is the rule**

- For stocks less than or equals to N10, the mvmt is 0.01 -termed Penny Stocks
- For stocks above N10 but less than N50 (I think), the mvmt is 0.05
- For stocks above 50 but less than 100 or so, 0.10 (will confirm this)
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 2:45pm On Feb 02
Please why was my BUY order for TIP rejected even though it was higher than current price. Who rejected it? I don't yet fully understand how the order book works. Sometimes you see no offers but you can see trades ongoing at the same time.

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by deathwing(m): 11:23am On Feb 02
I think so too. If accepted, this PO will constitute my largest stock holding at almost 30% of my portfolio. I'm betting on N100 by 2030

TIP on full bid. Up 10% to land at 16.40. Omo. I hope the CEO stays true to his word and accepts all oversubscription.

We have heard oooo
Stockpromoter:
ROYAL EXCHANGE (ROYALX) – Q4 2025 IN FOCUS
Market attention is shifting to Royal Exchange Q4 2025 numbers, as current forecasts point to over ₦1bn profit after tax in Q4 alone. This is significant because Q4 is typically the strongest quarter for insurance firms due to premium recognition, investment income and claims adjustments.
If Q4 delivers ₦1bn+ PAT, even a modest or breakeven performance in Q1–Q3 means FY 2025 unaudited results will close positive, confirming a clear turnaround for the company.
A strong Q4 would:
Validate Royal Exchange’s earnings recovery
Reset market perception from survival to growth
Support a re-rating ahead of audited results
As long as the Q4 profit is largely operational and not just one-off accounting gains, the market is likely to price in the turnaround before full-year numbers are released.
In insurance stocks, earnings inflection always comes before price breakout. Q4 2025 is the key trigger to watch.
