I think that the fact that you are tithing should be a ground for divorce. As a supposed leader of a household, your wife has more common sense than you. You work. She works. And at the end, you take part of your money to feed another man's family under the guise of giving to God

This here nailed it.

LOL.... you were on about Tithing and I showed you where the Law on tithing is defined — for the nation of Israel in the Land of Canaan alone — and how it has nothing to do with the Law of the Kingdom of God, now we are on to the Kingdom of God. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The Kingdom of God does not need your money at all. Jesus Christ, the King in the Kingdom of God, pretty much hinted at this when He informed you that you would have to sell everything you have and own and give it all away to the poor if you wish to become worthy of Him. 😁

If you call it a taxation system then it should be payed to the king and not to the temple or priest as seen in the bible

But he is already paying tax which is likely to be more than 10%. I support paying offering, but tithe is pure scam. Has any pastor come out openly to explain how they spend the tithes or how they send it to God?

People pay tithe and they are successful, many more people don't pay tithe and they are still successful.

Religion has really brainwashed a lot of people. They go abroad and still carry their brainwashed mentality there.

Nigerian pastors abroad are balling on people's money. They have the beat houses and cars. However, their "oyinbo" counterparts live a modest life and survive off salary.

She is saying that tithe is supposed to be a personal matter between God and I. So I asked a question that what if I have a 5% voluntary contribution to an overseas fund, and i kept it private, and one day she stumbled on my account statement and found out that I now have 30k in overseas contributions. Would she be happy I didn’t tell her, and she said of course, I would need to let her know.
This answer got me confused, because if tithe should be a private matter, why should my voluntary contributions from my 20% not be a private matter!?

Yes I agree with her. Tithe is a personal matter.

I do rather get heavily involved in charity work, something feasible to help the poor than pay tithe to a mere man. There are lots of children suffering in Nigeria, many are out of school. Set up a charity and help people physically, God will be happy with you and will bless you more.

I'm not sure if the top 20 richest men in the world pays tithe. Things that will make you successful include hard work, and perhaps a bit of luck and chance.

I watched with dismay how countries were busy hiring foreign coaches for the world cup. This spur my curiosity to check the country/coaches that have won the FIFA world cup.

It will interest you to know that all the countries that have won the world executed that with their local coaches. NO COUNTRY HAS WON THE WON CUP WITH FOREGN COACH.

Below is the list of world cup winners from 1930 to 2014

Year Winning nation Coach
1930 Uruguay === Alberto Suppici
1934 Italy === Vittorio Pozzo
1938 Italy === Vittorio Pozzo
1950 Uruguay === Juan López
1954 West Germany=== Sepp Herberger
1958 Brazil === Vicente Feola
1962 Brazil === Aymoré Moreira
1966 England === Alf Ramsey
1970 Brazil === Mário Zagallo
1974 West Germany === Helmut Schön
1978 Argentina === César Luis Menotti
1982 Italy === Enzo Bearzot
1986 Argentina === Carlos Bilardo
1990 West Germany === Franz Beckenbauer
1994 Brazil === Carlos Alberto Parreira
1998 France === Aimé Jacquet
2002 Brazil === Luiz Felipe Scolari
2006 Italy === Marcello Lippi
2010 Spain === Vicente del Bosque
2014 Germany === Joachim Löw

So looking at the above table its means there is no hope for Nigeria or any country going with a foreign coach

do you think this jinx will be broken this year

Black people are too self centered, you just confirmed it and this is why we can't develop as a nation. We care only about ourselves, ourselves and ourselves with no regard to others and the larger society.

So you will be happy that you have solar and inverter and have 24/7 light while your neighbors wallow in darkness. Some people have bought SUVs to minimize the effect of bad roads, some have surrounded their house with 12 feet wall, nails and barb wires to protect themselves from bad people and they are happy thinking this is all to life.

Until we start to value collective and society progress instead of individual progress, this country will remain a shithole. The difference between us and the western world is that the value collective progress, you don't need to be rich to enjoy basic amenities, you don't need to be rich to call 911 when in danger to get immediate police protection and many more.

At the end of the day, it shouldn't be about money. I prefer to be in an environment where things work for all irrespective of whether they are rich or poor than to be in an environment where getting the basic things of life will depend on how rich or poor you are.

You are so on point.

The only thing that I think will work will be home based jobs. There are quite a number of them. And they're mainly Customer Service jobs. There are also some Social work that can be done at home, with one day in the office. My friend currently does this, and she makes a lot of money. Her husband lives in the U.S.
What I advise is whilst doig your job search, filter it to home based roles. Most of these jobs require you have a home office set up. So you'll need a working desktop (what Nigerians call 'system'), printer, scanner, work station desk and the right swivel chair. Sometimes they send a HR person to inspect your home office to make sure it ticks their standard. You're also expected to be logged on to their server at times when you're expected to be working. So fast internet connection is a must have.
Other home based jobs include project coordinating/managing roles.

Truth is, they're not hard to find. You just have to use the right search engine and select what roles you think will work for you, also considering the salary as well.

I completely agree with the part of "conducting a research before going into any business", whether in Nigeria or abroad. Business itself is a big risk, and I am sure so many foreigners have established "day care" without ending up in jail.

Those who have interest in setting up a creche should conduct their research and never be perturbed by one unfortunate issue.

Can we have more ideas. Anything on farming (agriculture).

Do you know what the laws are in the country you are going to? Do you know what happens if you are perceived to break them Its like people don't think things through

Oya let me tell you a true story that happened in the US. A coworker of mine decided to start a daycare at home. Very nice and gentle lady. The husband was the one running the daycare. He had a background in early childhood education. He wanted to run the daycare and once it took off the wife would quit her job and join him. The two of them are from the middle East. Wife is a UK citizen. But both were in US working.

Husband opens daycare. One oyinbo lesbian couple brings their daughter. I heard all of this after the fact. But the summary is the husband is as I type SITTING IN JAIL for allegedly killing the baby. The child's limbs were broken and no one knows if it was the daycare that did it or the parents. But you know who got blamed (right or wrong)? The foreigner. Do you know what people in jail do to accused child abusers or child killers??

See his picture here from when he was arrested.
http://www.bethesdamagazine.com/Bethesda-Beat/Web-2016/Rockville-Day-Care-Operator-Charged-in-Death-of-Infant/

Someone gave him a black eye and this was even before the trial.

So there was a mistrial but they will not release him yet. My coworker had to raise $1 million for the lawyer. People were doing fundraisers. They have a 6 or 7 year old (who was also in the daycare) and now a baby the man has never met because the baby was born while he was in jail. Their lives are OVER. I heard the wife just wants him out of prison so they can relocate to a different part of the US where nobody knows them. Probably they will have to change their names.

The 1st time I heard this, I thought how stupid can one be to open a home daycare. Its just not worth the risk!!! If something goes wrong, your life is over.

Don't even try it.

Love is never enough. If the family you are marrying into give you hell eeeh,you go renounce love by force. Family support is needed in marriage especially for the lady because men too dey Bleep up. And if you add the difference in language,custom;prostrate, call a boy/girl you fit born uncle/auntie, Omo Ibo nickname etc. It doesn't worth the stress. Convince your parents or find another person. Or you can wait,after like 3-5 years they may agree as they see their daughter aging without getting married.

Looks like you you've had a bad experience (or maybe someone close to you).
People marry from the same village or clan and all these still happen. Just pray to meet a good partner that God has sent to you, your missing ribs. All these talk about family support will be bull crap. I have seen at least two successful families who married without parental consent (one of the couples have been married for 33 years and both their parents are dead but they still live happily. They share their story to encourage love. They didn't talk to their parents for 15 years).
The fact that someone is your father or mother doesn't mean he truly loves you or mean well for you, otherwise fathers won't take their daughters, parents won't sell their children or even use them for rituals. My dear, it is their life, let them make that decision. They have more years on earth than their parents.

Dearlord:
they should know the reason behind their objections and if found to be of greater help or importance to their future then, they should desist from the attempts and if the reasons are insufficient to their conviction, then they should be responsible for their future and build on a solid marriage anchored with positive mind.
Best response. God bless you. The reason must be genuine, otherwise go ahead and marry her. With parental consent marriages still crash, without parental consent marriages last long. It depends on the two people involved.
As a country (black people), we are too stereotyped. In western worlds, two adult usually makes the decision without parental influence. Parental blessing and family support is overrated.

Hello N'landers..

Let me share with you my experience today.

Entered a bus from computer village. Sat close to a young, very tall and energetic gentleman.

I was holding my $100 (sorry, N100), this young man just said "give it to me" I looked at him and gave it to him reluctantly (don't worry, he was not the conductor, was just looking for change).

I was surfing N'land. That's how he asked "so you do Nairaland". I responded "as a guest". He smiled and asked "what's your favorite session", I said "politics" but do so most times as a guest. He said "I'm one of the good guys there (he actually said one of the troublesome guys ". He said "guess, mention 5 names". So I started "Beremx, Ngenekwenu", he said "those are females Na". " I am not convinced" I said. He smiles and said "I'm very sure they are females".

We were almost getting to the bus stop and he said "I'm temitemi1".

I laughed in excitement (as if I had met a celebrity). I offered to pay his transport fare but he declined.

We had time to reflect on our activities on Nairaland. He is actually Yoruba but looked like an Aboki grin. Nice, gentle and a complete opposite of his personality on Nairaland. He actually supports PDP real life and doesn't look as if he's getting any financial benefit for doing so.

We exchanged numbers...
