Thanks. Just thinking aloud, could it be that some hosps ve been blacklisted? Then the community hosp things, more of govt hosp abihuh Me, i just think in our shopping and scouting for cheap deals, we shld be careful of deals too gud to be true so that these VOs dont just start turning down any quote unreasonably low. Like someone posted earlier, soem hosp may be fraudulently passing on teh bills to govt or medicaid.

@Ugoguchy, if ur journey isnot that important, maybe you shld hold on and apply after a while, say like 6 months, and hopefully another VO will see things in a diff perspective.
ugoguchy:
Hospital $5500
Paediatrician $300
Obgyn $1800
Circumcision $400
Labs $190
Note i was given discounts before this final quote

Baby no 2,i used community hospital and the had a package for self pay patients
Hospital $2000 (normal delivery witout any complication and 24hours stay)
Paediatrician $187
Obgyn $1800 (same dr he's registered in both hospitals )
Lab $714
Circumcision i did here when we got back

I ve checked ur old posts and cant find ur bill breakdown. Just trying to understand the vo's perspective. If u dont mind, how much did you incur on each birth trip, i mean medical bills?
ugoguchy:

My people, I am still looking for a 'self-contained'/'mini-flat' accommodation in Houston oooooo, pls biko. I ve checked airbnb tire. pls help if u know of any. Thanx

On Ladee1, no vex, continue to do good, who knows wat she is passing thru, not defending her though. Was she not the one with a 24k hospital bill for twins
emerald274:
Hello House. I just stopped by to check after a long while.

I must say again, this platform was very helpful to me prior to my journey to Houston and during my stay there early this year.
I had my babies in Houston late April smiley Though I had them earlier than planned (was directed to the theater during a weekly routine doctor’s follow-up), I had a safe delivery, they were healthy babies, and every subsequent documentation turned out to be a smooth process. I came back home almost a month later, it was one of the happiest days of my life lol, I never appreciated being home that much haha! I missed home. In all, I had a very pleasant experience with my doctor and the hospital back in Houston. Transportation was a tad bit of a challenge as for some reason I couldn’t use my Nigerian dollar card for uber which seemed to be the most popular way to get around town. Unlike other places I had been to, the transport system in Houston wasn’t too friendly (and expensive).

Can u share your bill breakdown? Probably its lower that the budget u gave them during ur visa interview.
ugoguchy:
Seriously i really dont understand, was called for a follow up interview too, went last week and was denied, wen i tendered my receipts she asked why i had some discounts,i told her i was self pay and the discount was given to me by the hospital...dunno if discount is now a red flag....

I laugh at the bolded below. Thank God i am back home to my ugwu grin.

On next time to Aussie huh, maybe when my children don turn to teenagers, lol.

Nice...Sounds like you had a lovely experience in Sydney. Funny how visitors enjoy their holiday destinations than the residents. Can’t wat to go on vacay!

How come you didn’t find vegetables? Ah ahn! Most of the regular stores have Choysum, Spinach, Bukchoy, Pakchoy, Lettuce etc...and they can be used (and do the work) for éfó rirò and éfó élégusi too. Abi you were looking for Ugwu. Next time you can bring your dried ugwu/bitter leaf.

Cant recall but airport rate was like 1USD = 1.2AUD and thats if u change minimum of 500USD, if its less, they charge you commission.

For traveling with 2 suitcases, i dont think it will be convenient, i had one box and sat at the entrance cabin, couldnt push my box further inside.
Solitin40:
I enjoyed your experience...abeg help with these questions

What was the rate at the airport 1 US$ to ?

Will it be easy to carry two suitcases(30kg) plus one carry on the train(Sydney Airport to Newcastle)

TravelRe: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by debby516(f): 2:12pm On Oct 24, 2017
Apologies for the long story.

I was in Sydney for 12 days. Travelled with Etihad thru Abu Dhabi, short layover 2 hrs, unlike my hubby who went thru South African Airways (dats an Israelite journey). 8hrs to Abu Dhabi, plane was packed full, then from Abu dhabi to Sydney, also full but bigger plane, Airbus (double decker 'lol').

Arrived Sydney at about 6.30pm, immigration was swift, they didnt stamp my passport , that one pained me cos there is no evidence in my passport that i ever stepped Australia bayii, especially with this their emailed visa, mcteeeeeeew.

I changed some money in the airport and picked my box, went thru Agric cos i had garri, beans, dry pepper, crayfish egusi nd maggi grin, dont mind me, i am a yoruba woman and likes my naija food. Got to agric and the officer just asked that i bring out the food i declared in my landing card, i showed and said it was okay, didnt even scan my bag, thats how i escaped 'Quarantine'.

Next, i planned to use uber to the apartment i got at North Sydney, dats how airport wifi refused to connect. Now confused cos regular tai will collect up to AU$70 but i had seen an estimate of AU$40 on uber b4 i left lag, ut culdnt connect to uber on my phone. I walked up to an airport help desk and explained that i needed help to get to North sydney, i was given a map and explained that i culd use the train. I immediately bought the train card - Opal in the airport, loaded it with AU$50, using my GTB Card and that how i got train to the Norh sydney station at AU$16 grin. I then took a taxi from the train station to the apartment with AU$8, because it was late, ordinarily i culd ve strolled down.

The train is very cheap and convenient, I only used uber once cos i was been lazy to walk to teh train station, there were 2 train stations closeby, Milsons point and North sydney.

To the food, i didnt see "Ata rodo" yoruba red pepper in teh stores i went - ALDI, Coles and woolwoths (theses are the grocery stores around) unlike in the US butthey have different types of tomatoes, that one even confused me and they have big 'tatashe' pepper. (Non-yoruba, pls google the english translation, sorry). Didnt find vegetable too. The food is another story but thank God i am back home, "i cant come and kill myself" lol.

Sydney is a very beautiful city, saw the Harbour bridge, as in pass thru, over it thru train and uber and under thru a ferry but i didnt climb it (where do i even have that kind strength plus money again), Opera house, Luna park, Darling Harbour......... Oh my Draling Hrabour, love this place, i was there almost every day, conference for a week was at the International Convention Centre Sydney, massive structure, over 6000 lawyers was at the conference and you will not notice any unusual traffic or influx of people, the multiple entrance/access, thru the ferry, train, walking etc, those people are too much in terms of infrastructures.

I was at the wild life par, Aquarium and Madam Tussaud museum. The restaurant by Darling Harbour was also places i longed for everyday lunch.

If you dont like walking, you may not enjoy sydney because of the transportation, walking from the train station to your destination, for me, was always like 5 mins walk, except you want to be taking taxi and uber everywhere.

for 2 weeks, i used AU$70 on train transportation, still had like AU$10 left on the card. Used my GTB and Access bank cards with different rates sha, GTB was cheaper at N291 to 1 AUD.

Now to expenses, apart from groceries, i think things are pretty expensive in Australia, haba, no wristwatch or bag sef within range. I had to buy my chocolates in Abu Dhabi airport duty-free shops. I couldnot shop o cos i was busy converting everything to naira and my ijebu mind wont allow me.

Ticket - 1.2mil -Etihad. I bought this in June, b4 i travelled in October.
Airbnb apartment for 12 nights - USD1500. Paid b4 arrival, so i used my US dollar card to pay
Transportation and groceries for 2 weeks - AUD 200
Average lunch for 2 at the Darling Harbour restaurant - AUD 100

If i missed anything, pls ask. So I went and conquered grin

Thanks to Davody, i know u thot my wahala was too much b4 i travelled with my plenty questions, e mabinu wink

One more thing, they didnt stamp my passport upon exit again oooo, still paining.

Welcome back and thanks for the warning.

Unfortunately, some mums who fail to research and read abt others' experiences will still fall victim.
maideyz:
Hello Elpaso Mums,

I have been so lazy to write my experience since i delivered.
It was my first attempt to apply for a usa visa and was granted at 30 weeks plus. I told the truth that i was going to give birth and attached with all evidence that i am able to pay and also the doctors correspondence. My total bill was doctor -2365 and hospital was -2700. The doctor intentionally isued me a receipt to show that i ve already paid which i ve not. I was granted the visa with the help of God. I went through Mary land and was not asked any serious question at the point of entry. i connected the next day to elpaso at 34 weeks but i had a nasty experience with accomodation. The ladies name is MODUPE ODUWOLE.She is a big scam in elpaso though she claim she is a nurse. i was thrown out of the house with my baby and my first born after giving birth. she collected a thousand dollars from me for accomodation for a month and i paid her for two months( i still have my change with her). and she treated me like a piece of rag. i was rescued by a Grace Lodge in elpaso where is stayed till i returened. My advise to elpaso mums is that if you hear this name please dont stay with her. she is a devil in disguise.

Just got back fro Australia and uses my GTB card, rate was N291 to 1AUD, which is better than Access bank at N299.

Solitin40:
Banks Naira Debit now allow up to US$1000 so you should be fine just convert the rate in AUD to USD by using xe.com or oanda.com and multiple by 375(AccessBank), 368(GTB) to check rate visit abokifx.com
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by debby516(f): 10:23pm On Oct 17, 2017
I ve read various transcripts recently without any underlying explanation of why they were denied.

But few points i believe maybe the issue:

1. Previous US visa denials. If you ve been denied b1/b2 visa b4 you applied for b2 alone, this maybe a reason for ur recent denial, not been able to satisfy the vo that u qualify, strong ties, migrant risk etc.

2. Preggy mamas travelling with their children, 2 or more. How do you intend to take care of urself and baby? Without hubby again. I think its a no no.

3. No strong career ties in naija and applying with hubby, may appear like u pple want to immigrate.

4. Travel history is not a must here, i ve read about alot of mamas without a single travel history, including myself. Rate urself and genuinely look at ur intentions.

5. Plan ur travel well in advance. Pregnancy takes 9 months and not 9 days. Its affords ur more time to reapply in casd of denial and make ur travel plans conviniently.

On a general note, part 5 is almost over and it saddens me that wat we still find around is mamas who re ready to spent over $10k on this journey and cant read, surf the internet or research, we re still asking abt VOA, Notarial services etc that ve been discussed times without number. Yet when we get this info, we disappear into thin air, no visa grant or POE transcripts, no breakdown of fees incurred, nothing.

It is well.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by debby516(f): 12:10pm On Oct 04, 2017
Pls house, mamas who have travelled with Etihad, do they require fit to fly from ur doctor or port health? I am scheduled to travel with Etihad in few days time, not to US and not heavily pregnant but visibly pregnant - 2nd trimester. I dont want unnecessary delays, do you suggest i get a fit to fly from my hospital stating the info required in a medical cert as stated on their website or just wait till i want to check-in, probably they send me to port health. I have been trying their numbers to confirm but not connecting.

On that port health, please, how early do they open, because its an early morning flight? Thanks for your responses.

Senatornuella, soo detailed and elaborate, thanks a lot. Wish you a safe delivery.

This is what this thread is about and it behooves on us in part 5 to make this thread worth reading, some did it b4 us and brought this thread thus far.

What we see now is 'pm me, pm you'. Or emergency request, like they just got pregnant y'day. Some will even go on 1st and 2nd maternity journies, yet you won't find any info they've given back and will still come back to get d latest info from those who are willing to share. It's well o.

I think the names are too close and a disclaimer may not necessarily help in this case. Maybe you should alter ur moniker abit to something not too close to the LadyG we all know, cos she is not just on the travel thread, I knew her from the birthing thread sef. My own opinion..... .

I am sorry. Was suprised when I entered ladyguinevere and found that it was available and actually the correct name spelling. cheesy.

I do not intend to cause any confusion by providing any visa assistance to anyone in your name.

I think it depends on the age of your son and when you expect them to arrive.

My daughter was almost 2 and half years when she and my hubby went for their interview, a week after i arrive the US. The VO actually spoke for them, by assuming that both father and daughter were going for vacation. No document was checked. Though they were to arrive the US end of November for a 3 weeks vacation, so more of a December holiday. Besides, she is a toddler. In the US, she wont even be eligible to start sch sef.

If you guys are not travelling together and hubby is just to come and visit you when baby arrive, more so u did dropbox and didnt state childbirth, i advise you safely arrive in the US and let their interview be after your arrival.

kokorita:
Hello house my hubby and son went for there interview today , they were denied. Transcript below.

*Long Post Alert*
Is time to share my very own Story. I had posted my Visa/POE transcript here. On the 10th of August, I woke up with this energy drive, I never knew it was the baby that was making her way. I asked a Doctor Friend what it is like to be in Labor, her response was like, they no dey tel person, say me sef go know when time reach, I was not feeling any serious pain but I was not too comfortable. I spent more than 4hrs in the Mall that very day, on getting home, I ate hot fufu n soup as if my life dependent on it. I was like let me try and rest after a hectic day only for me 2 have this discomfort feeling, I decided 2 go to the Hospital @ this point even if it was false labor atleast 2 be on the side of caution . I informed my Host which she decided to call Uber for me. I was about to make my way outta the house when I noticed I could not move @ this point. Felt this sharp pain,i screamed and told my Host it looks like the is here, I just laid flat, nex my PRINCESS popped out (I did not push), she came out all by herself right there. It was like a movie. My Host was there 2 grab her otherwise she would have fallen but thank God she was on time.(Did I hear say u Hebrew women kinda delivery yes it was grin ) D umbilical cord was detached. We made our way 2 the hospital. On reaching the Hospital, the baby n I were admitted, they were all overwhelmed that I had a home delivery without any form of complications or tears (God @ work) I was monitored and certified ok after 24hrs, they had given my Discharge Order 2 go home but I refused because the Contract Agreement stated 2days stay so y wanting 2 discharge me after a day? Afterall no b me say make the baby come the way she did. In all there was no Complications, Mother and baby are doing fine, we just returned back to 9ja on Monday. We are back home. I saw the mighty hands of God. 2 him alone be all the glory. Am so happy I found this thread, most of the information was gotten here. Special thank 2 Nerf, freshdad and to all those that took out time to respond to my questions no matter how awkward it sounded. God bless u all.
