On point!

P

You are asking the forum for info now but some of us asked you to share the response you got from the Embassy as regards the letter of change of intent you wrote on monday but you ignored us. If the way u are ignoring people when they ask you some info is the same way they ignore you too, will you get the info you need on this forum? We should always learn to be our brothers keeper and also have each others back. My sincere opinion. Thank you.

Like i said earlier, there is a presumption that you are going to use dis ur 'honeymoon visa' for childbirth, and i think that the VO saw thru it and denied u on dat basis for nt been sincere, now u finally established d vo's assumption by now applying d 2nd time for wat u had always wanted. Probably, d 1st VO u met made a note on ur application. Pls dont bother to reapply, wait it out and probably apply for ur nxt baby. MY OPINION [quote author=Eje18 post=53258534]Helo house. I am a silent reader.. October 12 2016 i applied for honeymoon visa with my hubby. In AbujaThe transcript below.
Vo: Goodmorning
Hubby: Good morning

Hubby: for our honeymoon
Vo: do you have children
hubby: No.( but i was 2months plus pregnant. He didnt ask me if i was pregnant so i didnt bother telling him. Besides we were just going for honeymoon.)
Vo: what do u do. And where do you
Hubby: ........
Vo. What does your wife do and where does she work
Hubby: ..........

For a long time, i refrained from commenting on the ongoing trend of 'change of intent', but in view of President Trumps' directives/orders, i have concluded that we Nigerians are the architect of our own problems and President Trumps remains the President of America not for the whole world.

Dear mothers/mothers to be, the issue of afterthought of using ur visa to birth only truncates genuine future b1/b2 visa applicants the chances of being accessed to have honest and truthful intentions. Now it has gotten to d point that every married woman applying for a vacation/conference must have a sinister motive to birth, which isnt true in all cases.

Thank God for the continued enlightenment on this forum.

For those who just come on here with the 'i just knew abt this thread' 'i just found out i am pregnant' and so on opening statements, pls do urself some good and read just from Part 3. I also consider it has laziness to expect someone to just rush to ur beck nd call on d excuse dat 'i just knew abt dis thread'.

I got all the info i needed from d beginning to the end of my missionary journey last year on this thread and this is someone who never entered plane out of dis country b4, no prior travel experiences.

God bless all our struggles for our LOs and our labour will nt be in vain.

Weigh your options, you re likely to have a weekly appointment with the doctor, depending on how many weeks you get into town. Other factors your consider is your shopping etc. My apartment was across Oakbend in Richmond and i was seeing Dr. Z in his clinic at Katy, like 30mins away weekly, but I wasn't paying for transportation cos it was part of my package. My apartment wasnt far to the malls i needed to go for baby things shopping and groceries, less than $10. Except u re a FTM, even at dat, u'll ve observed labour signs, we don't pray for emergency but if u re in naija, u'll sha still get someone ro drive you to the hosp and nt call ambulance. Good Morning Everyone,
I discovered this thread this year and the info here has truly been helpful.
I have a B1/B2 tourist visa which was issued Sept 2016 but i couldn't travel due to work-related issues, my PoE was NY. Got pregnant in December and thinking of giving birth there. A friend of mine recommended Oakbend, Dr F.
@justwise, i will send a letter of intent later in the year just to let them know about change of PoE (hope i am on the right track)
@Debby, can i pm you please for more details on Oakbend and Dr. Z?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by debby516(f): 4:40pm On Jan 25, 2017
My understanding of calculation of gestation weeks by the airline is 35 weeks 1 day = 36 weeks, 34 weeks 4 days = 35 weeks. I flew with Emirates and i went at 34 weeks plus to fall within the 36 weeks cut off period.
sehawale:
pls DW wants to fly Turkish airlines @ 35wks,5days. Their policy says pregnant women expecting one baby is not allowed to fly (even with FIT TO FLY CERT) after 35wks.

Does this mean she can fly so far she has not clocked 36wks or she cannot fly even if she is just 35wks, 1day?

Please anyone with first hand experience should tell me.

I called their customer care line and also went to their VI Lagos office but their officers that attended to me gave contradictory answers when I painted the scenarios above, leaving me more confused.

One of them said I should go to the airport to confirm but i want to see if anyone here can help from experience here before I travel to the mainland from the Island.

Thanks.

You may send me a pm, cant put d info here. I used oakbend and went in thru Houston, no issues and i declared at d embassy dat i was going for childbirth.
Samolue:
Please I want advise on POE at Houston, My wife is due to enter on the 4th of Feb for delivery and it was clearly stated at the point of getting visa but some people were saying is better to change POE to Atlanta because Houston Immigration can be hostile to pregnant woman and can be difficult. What can you advise? Though I will be going with her to return after a week.

Also is there anyone that can give info about accommodation, she will be using oakbend hospital? Also does anyone has information about Precious Cedar Mothercare, I was told they give care to pregnant mothers, accommodation, etc.

I will be very glad to hear from you.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by debby516(f):
If i may add, items purchased dat i needed to return were purchased either with cash or i used my American bank card nd refunds on d card takes 3 to 5days.

For uber, i added my American bank card because it didnt accept my already registered gtb naira mastercard dat i had been using on uber while in lagos. Nd Houston is nt one of those u can pay cash for uber.
desoul:
TKM..Pls explain more.

I took pap, the water was thoroughly squeezed out nd frozen. I kept it in a cooler bag nd remain frozen til i got to houston.

How did you go about the pap sis? Is it the powdered one?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by debby516(f): 10:55pm On Jan 05, 2017
I obviously omitted some info in my last post.

Pediatrician after discharge 1st visit was 75 nd subsequent visit 55.

Pls for those asking for my passport agent, i had reasons to be in Atlanta dats why i got naija passport. If nt, visa on arrival was my option since i had my baby in houston. Its nt economical to get naija passport if u re in houston. I still had to use an agent to get d passport out on time in atlanta o, since i had limited time.

For the accomodation contact, i cant put dat info here so as nt to breach d anti-advert rule.

The truth is that your friends unfortunately chose the wrongest time to try the Naija way.
What Herriko calls 'make america gr9 again syndrome' and I call 'Trump Fever' is In full effect.
If it was before, the guy would have pitied them . Did you say the same guy interviewed them twice? That's wrong o!
My dear, we are in unchartered waters. They can decide to try again and have another vo interview them. They can pray for a democrat to interview them grin. Note: this advice is selfish. I just wan use them learn the new levels at the embassy.
My independent opinion is that they shud count their losses and try brazil
Seriously!!! Its well with us dat just started d maternity journey.

Methodist isnt far from memorial hermann, add like additional $10 for uber from hermann to Methodist. I stay close to Oakbend nd i ve been to Methodist a couple of time, uber is an average of $15 to Methodist for me.
Chanbaby:
Pls nairaland family help me. I want to use houston methodist sugarland but my sil that I want to stay with says memorial Hermann hospital is just 5mins drive from her house so she will advice we use that but memorial Hermann is really expensive. People that knows Texas very well is houston methodist so far that we can't work something around. Cos this dollar wahala can't spend extra dollar oh.

So i am here with my testimony.

Emirates from Lagos 17th oct evening. Those officials searching luggages by Emirate counter just b4 checking nd tagging ur luggages, requested for 3k because of d foodstuff I carried. DH just gave them 1k. Then at d point of getting my boarding pass, an emirates staff requested for my fit to fly, gave a copy. I had 4 copies with me.

Then went on board. Lagos to Dubai was a full flight but quite comfortable, In-flight entertainment was good wit wifi, good food nd a smooth flight.
Had about 4 hours layover in Dubai but wasnt really noticeable cos d distance btw d arrival gate to departure gate for the Houston leg of d trip was quite much, despite taking train nd elevators.

Next to boarding d connecting flight, was asked for the doc cert, i gave d emirates official another copy, she checked and typed somethings and returned it to me. Then we set out for Houston.

Quite a journey, 16 hours but enjoyed it cos i had d whole 3 seats to myself (even though d plane was almost full), food nd drinks were in abundance. Had to pay $1 for d wifi on board after i exhausted d 10mins limited wifi. Was in touch wit my people all thru d flight.

Landed in Houston in d afternoon of 18th, walked all thru, no need for a wheel chair. Saw 2 other pregnant naija women on my flight but was d 1st to be attended cos i got down from d plane ontime. Unfortunately, d queue was very long cos about 5 flights arrived almost at d same time.

So d interview wit d CBP

CBP: Why re u in d US?
Me: to ve my baby
cbp: who is sponsoring d trip?
Me: DH
CBP: How much will it cost?
Me: 16500
Cbp: let me see ur papers
Me: gave him letter of accomodation from soj, soj letter confirming dat dey re holding d hosp fees in escrow for me, dr. Dama letter showing i ve part paid
Cbp: why US?
Me: better healthcare nd to avoid unnecessary complications i had wit ny 1st baby
Cbp: nodded his head, did u inform d embassy?
Me: yes, i applied for a medical visa
Cbp: wen re u expecting d baby?
Me: nxt month
Cbp: were u showing wen u went to d embassy?
Me: yes at 6 months
Cbp: scans nd snapped me. stambs me in for 6 months.

Picked my bags nd went on to agriculture, d queue was abit long.
Officer: wat do u ve?
Me: pap, beans, milk
Officer: ok, u may go.

And dts ow i got out.

Straight nd short. Thanks to all NL mamas for d valuable info i got here.

My people, so i woke to see emails from GTB and Stanbic on non-usage of the Naira Mastercard abroad and reduction in the amount on POS and online. There is a caveat from Stanbic sha, that since i had pre-informed them of my travel itinerary, i'll still be able to use my card to withdraw and the new policy will take effect after i return from my trip (I'll still call their customer care to confirm).

So i quickly rushed to Access Bank to pick up my Visa card and also entered FCMB to apply for a naira mastercard. N.B. FCMB no longer issue mastercard except you have evidence of your trip i.e. Travel ticket. I got it activated immediately. So pls, for those travelling soon, pls have Plan B, C and even D.

God help us all.

I am 100% sure that my hospital in Ikoyi officially charges 20K for both fit to fly and Doctor's report. Thanks for the heads up.
Rebarobyn:
Please which hospital is asking for 20k for fit to fly? Are you sure someone was not trying to play a fast one o you? I didn't pay a dime from mine.

The letter will suffice provided you are not above 36 weeks as at the the departure date of the final leg of your trip. You should make at least 2 copies though cos they may collect it at the point of departure both in nigeria and dubai.

Also try not to be "obviously pregnant" or look helpless at the point of departure. Even if you have a fit to fly if the airline officials have any doubts that you can complete the journey, they can subject you to further checks. Heard someone was returned from dubai because she was very heavy buh I didn't hear the full story sha.

Asides that Emirates is a correct airline and their staff are friendly
