Rushing to work, I was driving too fast and as a result was pulled over by the highway patrol. The state trooper noticed that my shirt had the name of a local high school on it. "I teach math there," I explained.

The trooper smiled, and said, "Okay, here's a problem. A teacher is speeding down the highway at 16 m.p.h. over the limit. At $12 for every mile, plus $40 court costs, plus the rise in her insurance, what's her total cost?"

I replied, "Taking that total, subtracting the low salary I receive, multiplying by the number of kids who hate math, then adding to that the fact that none of us would be anywhere without teachers, I'd say zero." He handed me back my license.

"Math was never my favorite subject," he admitted. "Please slow down."

John went to visit his old grandfather in a secluded area of Georgia. After chatting all night John's grandfather made a breakfast of bacon, eggs and toast. However, John noticed a film on his plate, and questioned his grandfather, "Are these plates clean?"

His grandfather replied, "They're as clean as cold water can get them. Just finish your meal!"

For lunch John worried that the plates had dried egg and asked, "Are you sure these plates are clean?"

The old man said, "I told you those dishes are as clean as cold water can get them. Now I don't want to hear any more about it!"

Later that afternoon, as John was leaving, his grandfather's dog started to growl, not letting him pass. John yelled, "Grandfather, your dog won't let me get to my car."

The old man shouted, "Coldwater, go lie down!"

Some neighbors of my grandparents' gave them a pumpkin pie as a holiday gift. As lovely as the gesture was, it was clear from the first bite that the pie tasted bad. It was so inedible that my grandmother had to throw it away. Ever gracious and tactful, she still felt obliged to send the neighbors a note. It read "Thank you very much for the pumpkin pie. Something like that doesn't last very long in our house."

Throughout her pregnancy, my sister Joanne insisted that she wanted no medication during labor. When the big day came, though, she wondered if she had made the right decision.

Knowing my sister's stance on drugs, the midwife did everything else to ease Joanne's pain. "You look uncomfortable," she said at one point. "Would you like to change positions?"

"Yes," Joanne replied. "I want to be the midwife!"

My sister had been ill, so I called to see how she was doing. My ten-year-old niece answered the phone. "Hello," she whispered.

"Hi, honey. How's your mother?" I asked.

"She's sleeping," she answered, again in a whisper.

"Did she go to the doctor?"

"Yes. She got some medicine," my niece said softly.

"Well, don't wake her up. Just tell her I called. What are you doing, by the way?"

Again in a soft whisper, she answered, "Practicing my trumpet."

Bisi was discharged on Tuesday. she is presently at home undergoing physiotherapy. I was at uch last week in order to see Bisi after the surgery. I told her that you are all praying for her recovery and she was very happy and promised us all that she will pull through. She is undergoing physiotherapy as she been lying down for a month now. we appreciate all your prayers.

my people, thank God at all times that you are alive, even now; pls say it. There are people in he hospital hoping that they can be like you and i. Accident victims, cases of unwarranted circumstances, you name it. It is a great gift to be alive. That none of your relatives is not in the hospital is a great gift as well. You can monitor ur time, actions, do whatever you want to do whenever you want to, is the Lord's doing. Pls thank God for it.

After the operations, the doctors said she might never walk or use her hands again. But after 6 months she started walking and even wrote a book with her hands. Devil has been rasing its ugly head once in a while but the lord has been prevailing over the devil. two weeks ago she fell while trying to have her bath and it her head against on the ground. She is now at UCH ibadan. The neurology department has requested that a brain surgery be carried out on her as fluid has gushed nto her brain. Bisi Olofinyo needs your prayers now.
