Politics › Re: How Zik Scuttled His Own Chances Of Ruling Nigeria by Dede1(m): 1:06pm On May 18, 2010
If ruling the cesspit called Nigeria is a more important political achievement of the 1950/60 era than gaining independent statues for protectorates as majority of peeps on this thread has shown, I guess that Azikwe should be guilty as charged.

It is very unfortunate that some empty heads that knew nothing next to the history of the protectorates and road to independent are proffering skewed analogies of well established transparent system in UK and system marred with colonialist induced tribal fighting and distrust, lack of transparency and clogged with newspaper articles with no verifiable sources in the North and South Protectorates of British colony in West Africa.

Katsumoto:
You also failed to point out to EzeUche and those advocating for a secession that the reason we were all lumped together was because Zik wanted to rule over Nigeria, rather than just Eastern Nigeria. Zik also ensured that Nigeria (the separate regions that is) did not get Independence in 1957 with Ghana because Zik rejected self-autonomy for the Eastern region stating that he would rather wait for the Northern region to be ready. Bello rejected self-autonomy and with Zik's rejection, Awolowo was out-voted.
What an arrant nonsense. During the 1957 constitutional conference in Lagos, the northern region, with the support of the colonialist, was bent on delaying the self-government of the protectorates by creating political stumbling blocks to self-government. The NCNC and Action Group wanted self-government in 1957 while NPC not only wanted 50% representation at central government but fixed national election in 1959.

The delegates from NCNC and Action Group walked out of conference in protest. It was at this juncture that Mallam Muhammed Waziri of Bauchi commented that “we are not asking other regions to wait for Northern region. They can do what they want in their region”. Zik latter rationalized and said “this is another sacrifice which is bound to be made if the unity of Nigeria is to be preserved”. It should be recalled that Action Group and Awolowo had dropped the demand of Lagos as part of western region instead of capital territory.

Dude, you need to relax. What is unfortunate about my comment? Did strategy not fail Biafra the first time? I made the comment about strategy with regards to your approach to realising your dream. You said you do not need a referendum to find out whether you are in the majority or minority. Shouldn't it be a majority that decides whether or not to form a new country?
Dude, I am relaxed. However, I do not need to remind you that it is human nature to label failure with lack of strategy and befit success with stroke of genius. The frequent accusation of lack strategy will not stop Ndigbo in particular and Biafrans in general to continue the agitation of sovereign state of Biafra.

So you are just going to assume that everyone is with you and then find out afterwards? Strategy failed Biafra the first time, going by the comments on Nairaland, its obvious strategy would be a problem again.
I shall take a different angle to your unfortunate conclusion about strategy or lack thereof in Biafra. Nonetheless, you are entitled to your opinion.

It has been proven in today’s Nigeria that lack of socio-political vision on the part of the people who collectively teamed up to impose a war of attrition on Biafra led to her defeat. One thing that bound to happen in future is Biafrans will never commit any blunder the previous Biafran leaders committed.

Whenever Biafra stages a come back in future, the enemies to the state have been identified and studied.
Politics › Re: Ohaneze Throws Its Weight Behind Jonathan by Dede1(m): 6:57pm On May 15, 2010
If Nigerians had waited for referendum to take place in order to decide suing for independent status from Britain, the protectorates would have remained the colonies of Britain and cesspit called Nigeria would not have been created.

For Biafra to be actualized, Ndigbo in particular and Biafrans in general do not need a referendum to determine the majority or minority seekers.
Politics › Re: Ohaneze Throws Its Weight Behind Jonathan by Dede1(m): 4:36pm On May 15, 2010
Katsumoto:
Dede1, don't try to be naive. What should obtain and what obtains in reality are usually different things. In an ideal world, a referendum would be held and the people of Nigeria would decide whether they want to remain in Nigeria or not. If separation is chosen, like it was with Czechoslovakia, then we can all continue like good neighbours. In reality, given our history, if there is disintegration, some people are likely to act in vindictive manners. Igbo are likely to continue doing business in other parts of Nigeria while other regions are less likely to trade inside Igboland. An Igbo person trading in Togo will not face the same issues as an Igbo person trading in Northern Nigeria.
Sumoto, what naiveté are you referring in your post? Sometimes the consciousness of people flows to the surface unsolicited. Why must other Nigeria carry out acts of vindictiveness on Biafrans for simply achieving a place that they can patriotically call a home?

If the citizens of Cameroon, Ghana, Benin, Togo, Ivory Coast and Sierra Leon are not engaging in acts of vendetta and vandalism against citizen of Nigeria, why should citizens of Nigeria initiate such acts against citizens of Biafra?

I must say that such line of thinking is the manifestation of inherent dislike for the Ndigbo by certain cross section of Nigeria. If Biafra is actualized, it would not transplant the benevolent spirits of Nigeria to Biafra. So the thought of carrying out any form of vendetta amounts to socio-political naiveté.

You didn't answer my question. I asked what if you are in the minority.
I shall not force my opinion on the majority but will continue to espouse the virtues in sovereign state of Biafra. As it is now, I could find myself in minority column but it should not stop me from campaigning for state of Biafra.
Politics › Re: Ohaneze Throws Its Weight Behind Jonathan by Dede1(m): 2:37pm On May 15, 2010
Katsumoto:
It is this very factor that influences my thinking. Would it make sense for Igbo to agitate for its own country and then request business visas to conduct business in other parts of Nigeria? Also, they may have to pay certain taxes and follow new rules just to be able to trade in other parts outside Igboland. The Igbos own interests outside of its own region more than any other tribe in Nigeria. The other argument of course is that the Igbo would all return to Igboland (or Biafra) once it has its own country. I am not so sure of that.
Pal I know you are better than this analogy. There are many Nigerian nationals, Igbo included, doing good business outside the shores of Nigeria. If I may follow you plank of the argument, Nigerian or Ghanaian citizens should be forbidden from living and conducting businesses in places such as Cameroon, Benin or Togo.

Being a citizen of the sovereign state of Biafra does not prohibit such person from engaging in business endeavors outside Biafra. By the same token, I am of the view the citizens of Oduduwa. Arewa or Nigeria should be welcomed into Biafra to partake in any business without molestations.

I am of the opinion that if a majority of people do not want to be part of a nation, then they should be allowed to form their own nation. But the question for you Dede1 is, 'what if you are in the minority?' What if a majority of Igbo people do not want a separate nation? Are you going to force your personal opinion and wishes on a majority?
Pal, the answer to the question you posed is unequivocally no. I hope you should agree with me that the problem lies on the process of arriving to the segregated majority or minority of Ndigbo that will want independent state out of Nigeria. I guess such innocuous process does not lead to an uncalled war. You can bear with me that mere debate on Biafra sovereignty on this forum attracts war-like attitude from non-Biafrans

If this man is not a slowpoke who else is? It is very interesting to read the analogy Sanusi gave about power and energy supply in Nigeria. Granted the government should pave the way to socio-economic independency, I do not think socialism is the answer. Nigeria needs true privatization of the banks and less control of the banks by CBN. It appears he speaks from a power drunk plank.

I think you have found home on the issue of the so-called “BLAME GAME or VICTIM CARD” and it has become your spring board to launch condescending jabs on the Ndigbo. The fact remains that after the end of the Nigeria-Biafra civil war, the position held by the Ndigbo in certain Nigerian parastatals were not given back to them.

The issue of N20.00 to every Igbo person who had money in the back before the war remains a classic example of economic strangulation. What of the quota system at the gates of Nigerian institutions of higher learning and military academy? The sign of instances of neglect of Igbo land is well documented as federal government presence in Igbo land is zero in number.

I still can not fathom the iota of reasons why certain cross section of Nigerians get twisted out of human form because Ndigbo are agitating for independent sovereign state.

Because so many factors would get in the way. The theory I propose: The larger a political unit, the more susceptible it is to decay. You can see that is socialist theory- all good as theory, but not really good when trying to apply it to large states like the former USSR. The supposed communal democracy would not even likely work if all the igbo come together to form Biafra. i dont know the various divisions with igbo people but I am sure problems would arise from the diversity with the igbo people.

The Hausa are one of the most unified groups because they have a strong Caste system. The Fulani elite in the leadership realm and the Hausa at the core masses. This has been solidified for centuries with the common islamic faith, and the Islamic structure. Infact the Hausa Fulani had the closest paradigm of a nation state- makese sense that they can play politics with superior skills well.

Olodo. Atiku is not Hausa-fulani, and I doubt Buhari is one too. Infact most of Nigerian presidents from the North have not being Hausa Fulani. Abacha was Kanuri too. The fulani-Hausa influence stuff in the background.

There was period when you were twisted out of human form because of the usage of word, “contrarian”.

Often times I wonder why the igbo extraction do not do well in leadership position and little wonder why nigeria would always prefer to the yoruba and hausa at the helm of affairs.

Looking at the Igbo origin, they have never been found doing well when put in the leadership ofanything it either their kinsmen call for the head of their own or they look for away to rob him in a dirty deal that would see to the end of his leadership. Political views of this extraction from the days of Wabara, former Senate president, he was enmeshed in corruption which led to his impeachment, to Maurice Iwu, the then INEC Chairman who could not coordinate a creditable election. Every day you listen to radio and watch the TV its one election being nullified to the other. And now, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor,

Igbo, what is wrong with you? No wonder nobody wants to commit the affairs of this nation into your hands.

pls your views
It is rather unfortunate that your comprehensive acumen led you to this ignorant conclusion. As ignorant as your illogical deduction may appear on the post, it remains your unsolicited opinion.

It is no gaining saying to iterate that when Igbo extraction is placed at helm of anything in the cesspit called Nigeria, progress begins to show. Talk about election in Nigeria, I can equivocally state that there has never been a fraud or rig free election conducted the country. I can also state that neither Iwu nor Igbo extractions were the only stewards of those elections.

It is a fact that any little issue concerning any Igbo extraction has been magnified to infinite limit in Nigeria. There has been allegation of fraud leveled against Bankole, the speaker of the house, yet such allegation has not been blown out of proportion. If Bankole is Igbo, hell would have let loose.

You are correct about the fact that Ndigbo has failed to give massive support to their sons and daughters when leveled with fraud allegation in Nigerian context. I am also disappointed on the noted Ndigbos’ nonchalance toward staging unshakable defense for Igbo extraction under politically motivated fraud allegations. Nigeria does not worth any patriotic sacrifice and certainly not from Ndigbo.

There are things done under the auspices of democracy that were not constitutional encoded. Certain arrangements are ironed out at political party levels. There was a North-South political dichotomy in terms of not only rotational presidency but office positions in the national assembly in PDP.

War usually starts with this type of petty political disingenuous being displayed by some forum contributors. It was the same rotational mechanism that gave rise to Jonathan Goodluck as VP. Onlytruth tell me something - how does it feel living in cloud cuckoo land?

What is it that you didnt understand about Ojukwu that  you now understand?  Okay let me let you in on a little secret - Ojukwu was never a man of the people  - the reason i say this , is  Ojukwu knew that cessation was not viable but he carried on regardless, Nzeogwu who in my opinion was a more courageous and intelligent man than Ojukwu ever was,  said himself that cessation was not viable because it would plunge the country into civil war, which would lead to the loss of many innocent lives, if you are looking for a real hero you should go and read about Patrick Chukwuma "Kaduna" Nzeogwu  - this man was a real hero - he was a true nationalist who actually beleived in a united "nigeria" he was not a tribalist he was a PAN AFRICANIST  visionary in the same league as Dr Nkrumah, Patrice Lumumba and Nelson Mandela, but being young and idealistic he thought he could outsmart the british and their lap dogs unfortunately for him he underestimated the cunning and treachery of the western powers who would stop at nothing to hold onto their possession, "nigeria".

If Ojukwu was as smart and wise as you claim he was why did he go down the route of secession without an army, without any backing from any foreign govt?

IBB - a complete waster, a psychopath who has no shred of conscience, this is the man you adore, -you are deranged if you think IBB will ever honour any agreement he enters into with Ojukwu, why should he, what has he got to gain from favouring the igbos in nigeria?  Listen up Onlytruth -  IBB is a western puppet his only allegiance is to the people who will place him in office ie the US, the British and MOSSAD (Israeli intelligence who protected him throughout the 1980s) , IBB is more concerned about pleasing these people than pleasing nigerians, let alone the igbos, so spare me your wet dreams about how he is going to grant concessions to igbos - i laugh in swahilli!!!!!!!!

So you think IBB will abolish federal character, does that make sense to you, why would he do that - have you forgotten Buhari's statement when the idea of fielding an igbo as president was considered? what did Buhari say "that an igbo president of nigeria would be TOO MUCH FOR MANY NORTHERNERS TO SWALLOW", and you have the nerve to think that IBB will put his safety in jeopardy by challenging this kind of opposition, please go and rethink everything you have written on this thread because your naivitey is embarrassing.
If I write that you are completely clueless, it is underwritten. Who is the author of this book titled “Patrick Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu”? How did you arrive to the conclusion about what Nzeogwu believed that made him your hero? I guess the subject called history is not one of your fortes. Ojukwu was one of the cool head that tried to mitigate the madness of Nzeogwu that you claimed to be your hero. Well it is your liberty to have skewed opinions but you do not have such privilege to distort history.

In fact, there is nothing of historical value about this conjectural crap you posted on this forum.

But, you've insisted on making that same claim, time and time again, and, quite frankly, I'm sick of it. I was gonna let u slide on account that Ibo is your first language and not english, but not anymore! u monkey, you can write this as two words: can not and that's something you can't/cannot do with other modals (if u know what that means) . Since you have issued a challenge, I'll have a go at the logic. I'm doing this simply to impress it on your Ibo aszz that You and I (and even your hero here on NL; Mekushyyt) are not on the same pedestal when spoken or written english is/are the topic. "Cannot" and "can not" are two different words. Cannot is the negative of can; "cannot" is the rarely used emphatic form of "can". The two are not interchangeable. Some dictionaries define "cannot" as "can not", but that's just to show the meaning of "cannot" is "can"+"not". The correct spelling of "cannot" is "cannot".

As you know (we all know u dont, but thats besides the point) , English lends itself/adapts itself well to the lazy speaker (such as the average Ibo man) and it's much easier to say: can't/ won't/mustn't/oughtn't/mayn't/coudn't etc than to give them the full value as: will not/must not and so on. But it so happens that the modal "can" ends in an 'n' and that makes it unique and what more natural than to put the two n's together and make it "cannot" just to show that you know the full form and you are not using the abbreviation. Now, you cannot/can not/ can't argue with that, can you? slowpoke!!![/quote]You could not be more correct when you wrote that in the wildest of your dreams, you will never envision a dumb jackass such as you in the same grammatical bracket with me.

It is only a dumb arse that does not understand “cannot” is not a proper operative word of English Language.

Can: Present tense, Could: Past tense, hence can not and could not.

What is the past tense of CANNOT? Maybe it is COULDNOT according the dictates of your dilapidated brain. Even as a transitive word, CANNOT has become commonly and wrongly used phrase. A de facto is not a de jure. I shall leave you to the torture of ignorant faith, cock sucker.

What intellect or lack thereof are you writing about? The national cake-sharing formula phrase was borrowed from your post. By the way, I thought Nigeria is donning a cap of democracy and electorates will conscientiously vote for a candidate that proffers the acceptable formula for the sharing of national cake. If by chance, IBB concocts a better cake-sharing formula than other contenders, intellect will run a second fiddle to the people’s well being.

Unless you are on a different trail on this issue, I do not see how injustice and Ndigbo relate to whatever national cake-sharing formula IBB will intend to pursue in future or had pursued.

Whatever grudge I hold against IBB is the same grudge I have for other Nigerians that fought against Biafra. If Ndigbo had previously voted for OBJ of all people, why would they not for IBB?
