In Ondo state, live births have increased significantly over the last three years, and am not saying its pdp,but am givin you facts, you can check with WHO.
@isreal,except you want to state it here that Amosun(?) did not do such, dnt call me a liar,i believe there is a thread on this on nairaland.the punch, sun, and even the nation carried this piece of news.
I thought the topic is on El rufai and Okupe. Have we gotten to Ondo?

It is not every Useless comment that you will respond to. It is the antics of some paid agents on this forum to distract any objective discussion, wihich they cannot win for their paymasters, with gibberish and imaginary rantings. So whenever I come across such, I move on to the next and continue the intellectual discourse on the topic at hand. Maybe when I have exhausted the discourse with other objective minds, I can go back to mudslinging.

The danger in joining issues with them, when the debate is on, is that you risk loosing track of the subject matter of discourse. And the informed minds on the thread will find it hard to distinguish who is mentally challenged between both of you.

Billyonaire: Sometimes I wonder what the aim of El-Rufai is in life. Is he retired at that young age ? Or is he now hired to create enmity in Nigeria? This is what happens when a man is unemployable. An average politician is unskilled and sits down waiting for ways to find access to Government House. If someone wins an election, allow that person to concentrate. Yaradua (May his find rest) was President and he was very slow due to his health issues, and we understood. There were no threats to his life and curses about his health by critics except at the moment the man was bedridden and the entire North played us like toys. GEJ has been President for a year and I have witnessed massive improvement in Electricity supply, a feat, I did not know could be accomplish in this life time. What does El-Rufai and Bakare really want ? They should wait till 2015 and seek nomination from their party and run against GEJ, if Nigerians vote them to take over from GEJ so be it. Why the needless craze from pulpit and twitter. It is very childish.
My brother, your thoughts are as good as mine.

occam: Leaders are always criticized. Jonathan should show results or at least tell us his plan on making Nigeria safer.

Its Rutai''s right to talk trash and my option to listen or not. Jonathan on the other hand is paid to solve the problem of Boko Harem menace.

Better advice OKupe to sit tight inside his Kernel until he has something to bark about. Right now he's a dishevelled old dog that needs to be put down
It's El Rufai's right to talk trash especially when he is clueless about the solutions to this peculiar security challenge sponsored by his kinsmen.
Jonathan has not ceeded his role to provide security either to anybody.
Okupe merely asked El Rufai a simple question and from his answer, it's clear that El Rufai does not know any better.
That is Okupe's goal. He seeks to show the world the emptiness in El Rufai
Naija type terrorism has been a daily exercise since May last year with no clear cut solution, idea or effort by your Principal to curtail it.
you comparison is highly misplaced.
Since I was a kid, it has been customary for every news bulletin either on Tv or Radio to end with stories of suicide bombings in Isreal and some parts of middle east.
Till tomorrow, its still recurring. It's difficult to end homegrown terrorism anywhere in the world abruptly.
If the terrorism is sponsored from outside or perpetrated by outsiders, you can deploy your intelligence to Quell it. You can even deny them access and entry into the country. You can also block their monetary transfers.
But you have a situation where a section of the country is indisposed to the present power equation and they feel that the best way to go about it is to bomb themselves gradually.
It could have been better and easier if Boko Haram were an army of sorts or a rebel group which are visible and advance with their military might to capture territories like in Syria.
I will be the first person to call for GEJ's sack, if he can't deploy soldiers to confront them.

But in this case, BH is an orientation. Anybody can automatically be a Boko haram once you take up the orientation. There's no special camp or uniform or faces.
All it takes is to go into your closet and couple up Gas cylinder and cables and drive to the nearest public place to kill yourself.
You have nothing to loose so even when a security man tries to stop you in your tracks, you explode yourself and the deed is done.
Then we all converge in Nairaland to shout GEJ.

This is exactly the problem Okupe has with El Rufai. You just come and rant rubbish without offering any logical or coherent response to the subject matter of discourse.
Pray how does this your tantrums address the topic at hand.
This is just an escapist strategy to distract us from the cross pollination of ideas in this botanical garden of Intellectuals. But I won't oblige you
It's understandable that you may not have the intellectual and mental ability to sustain a healthy debate on this score.

Megabyts: When a govt cant solve the problems of the governed the honourable thing is for gej and his crew to resign.
No government in the world resigns because of terrorism. Last month we saw Isreali tourists killed by a suicide bomber in Europe, no body called for the resignation of the Bulgarian president.
Till tomorrow, suicide bombings occur in parts of Isreali territory despite their sophistication in intelligence. No body called for resignation of Isreali prime minister.
When US was attacked from outside, not this our home grown terrorism, the whole America stood behind Bush. Both democrats and republicans alike. No body called for Bush's resignation.
It took America almost a decade to track the perpetrator Osama.
Even in Kenya, recently suicide bombings have been going off in parts of Kenya. No body has called for the resignation of the president.
All over the world, terrorism is considered a global threat which must be confronted by all and not playing politics with it.

If it were genocide or internal rebellion which the govt can't contend with, the international community will be calling for GEJ's resignation.
But have you ever wondered why no other country or UN or international community has not condemned GEJ talkless of asking him to resign?
It's food for thought
PoliticsRe: El-rufai Replies Doyin Okupe by dedeike: 10:27pm On Aug 10, 2012
Criticism is cheap especially when the critic is clueless. Doyin's admonition is crystal clear. If you feel that government is not doing anything, you adduce reasons why and proffrer alternative solutions. That way people will take you more serious. That is the foundation upon which credible opposition is built.

You can't just call your self an opposition leader and you repeat the same pedestrian lines that an arm chair critic in a local bar will do.

El Rufai should tell us how better he could tackle the Boko haram challenge. He should be able to say GEJ was wrong in appointing the NSA OR the CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF or the new IG of Police.
El Rufai should be able to tell us that, if we had the misfortune of having him as our president in these trying times, he would have sacked all the policemen and recruit new ones so that Boko Haram will stop.
El Rufai should tell us whether he will mount roadblocks on every street in Nigeria so as to prevent suicide bombers from killing themselves and other Nigerians on the process.
EL Rufai should come out and tell us that he wouldn't have charged Senator Ali Nfume to court or he will just shoot him directly.
El Rufai should tell us whether the setting up of JTF is wrong or not.
El Rufai should tell us that he will not be resident in Aso rock while the people are dying hence he will relocate to the streets of Maidugri and govern Nigeria from there.
El rufai should tell us that he will send drones to destroy the people of Maidugri because Boko Haram is in their midst.
Arm chair criticism never brings power. It may be popular in the interim but it has a way of leaving the person hollow at the long run.
PoliticsRe: Bayelsa New Flag: Jonathan Must Speak - Lawyers by dedeike: 8:23pm On Aug 10, 2012
Pukkah: What's this lawyer talking about? I don't see anything wrong in what the Bayelsa state government has done (new flag and anthem). Is Nigeria not a Federation? Is a state within the Federation not entitled to its seal, flag and anthem?

I think more states should begin to demand for what they are entitled to under this federal arrangement, from true political federalism to true fiscal federalism.

Also, if we must take it further, shouldn't a state or part of a state have the right to leave a country and stand alone or join another country? Shouldn't this be the ultimate expression of the fundamental human right of freedom of association?

Shouldn't a democratic constitution spell out the conditions to be met for part of a country that wants to leave or for another state in another country that wants to join the country? Why can't there be a constitutional right of secession?

These are some of the fundamental questions which are beginning to stare us all in the face.

Every part of Nigeria is complaining of marginalization or one thing or the other. Is any part of Nigeria fulfilled or happy with the union? Is it not high time we addressed the basis of togetherness or express that ultimate freedom of association?
I commend you for saying the truth. At times, we just try to make an issue out of nothing. Cross River has both it's blue and white flag, a coat of arms where a fish is swimming on the coast, and it's like they also have an anthem. Even Lagos state has its coat of arms I.e two palm trees in an island.
I don't know why the hairsplitting over this Bayelsa own?

Try to pretend to be objective for once. I understand you re paid to come and do this but you must not always sacrifice truth on the altar of greed.
The case is clear. The issues are clear.
Is H'ell Rufai's family members entitled to allocation of lands? Yes!
Is H'ell Rufai suppose to revoke lands from genuine title holders and re allocate same to family members. NO!
It is the height of wickedness and can only come from a Boko Haramic mind to strip land owners of their titles, and hand over same to his family.
It's inhuman, barbaric, illegal, wicked, deceitful, Shameful and a gross abuse of public trust.
He will go to jail
PoliticsRe: El-Rufai Allocated Land To Family Members (8 Plots) by dedeike: 7:41pm On Aug 10, 2012

But the problem lies with the revoocation and subsequent allocation to family members.
It is deceitful, wicked, barbaric, illegal, unjust and unacceptable.
How can you revoke allocations and hand it over to your cronies? KAI!

There are decent and civil ways to criticise the govt not mudslinging.
If Bakare asks about the Malibu oil deal and Jonathan's anti corruption stance, no one will begrudge him. The president will even react through his spokesperson.

Ordinarily, our president had no business meeting her. But it's enough for their world power status that the president gave her audience.

PoliticsRe: Injustice: 20 Owners Of Richest Oil Blocks In Nigeria Without Niger Delta People by dedeike: 12:44am On Aug 10, 2012
Billyonaire: The bastardizing of Nigeria by the mindless, who hate the nation. Monumental injustice to a people: 20 Owners Of Richest Oil Blocks In Nigeria Without the people of Niger Delta on whose soil the oil was found. They constitutes the main opposition to President Goodluck Jonathan today. Read on:

(1) This oil block business is so lucrative that Danjuma’s Sapetro divested of its investment in Akpo condensate for $1billion dollars. This business is second to none in Nigeria. That is why any attempt to investigate the activities in this sector will always be futile. The money is so much that they give bribes in millions of dollars. A birthday gift or child naming gift from an oil block owner to a government official could be as paltry as $2million dollars, and if the official’s father died, the condolence gift could reach mere $3 million dollars. When they want to bribe legislators, it is in millions of dollars and any ongoing investigation ends within weeks. They are so confident that with excess money they can buy up Nigeria and they are succeeding

(2) OML 110 with high yield OBE oil fields was given Cavendish Petroleum owned by Alhaji Mai Daribe, the Borno Patriarch in 1996 by Sanni Abacha. OBE oil field has estimated over 500 million barrels of oil. In layman’s language and using average benchmark of $100 dollars per barrel, translates to $50 billion dollars worth of oil reserve. When you remove the taxes, royalties and sundry duties worth about 60% of the reserve payable over time you get about $20billion dollars worth of oil in the hands of a family.

(3) OPL 246 was awarded to SAPETRO, a company owned by General Theophilus Danjuma, by Sanni Abacha in 1998. Akpo condensate exports about 300,000 barrels of crude daily.

(4) NOML 112 and OML 117 were awarded to AMNI International Petroleum Development Company owned by Colonel Sanni Bello in 1999. Sanni Bello is an inlaw to Abdulsalami Abubakar, former Head of State of Nigeria.

(5) OML 115, OLDWOK Field and EBOK field was awarded to Alhaji Mohammed Indimi from Niger State. Indimi is an inlaw to former Military President Ibrahim Babangida.

(6) OML 215 is operated by Nor East Petroleum Limited owned by Alhaji Saleh Mohammed Gambo.

(7) OML 108 is operated by Express Petroleum Company Limited is owned by Alhaji Aminu Dantata.

(cool OML II3 allocated to Yinka Folawiyo Pet Ltd is owned by Alhaji W.I. folawiyo

(9)ASUOKPU/UMUTU marginal oil fields is operated by Seplat Petroleum. Seplat is owned by Prince Nasiru Ado Bayero, cousin to the Central Bank Governor Lamido Sanusi. This oil field has the capacity of 300,000 barrels of oil daily. This translates to $30million dollars daily at average benchmark of $100 dollars per barrel. Deducting all sundry taxes, royalties etc , this field can yield $12billion dollars daily for the owners .

(10)Intel owned by Atiku, Yarádua and Ado Bayero has substantial stakes in Nigeria’s oil exploration industry both in Nigeria and Principe and Sao Tome.

(11) AMNI owns two oil blocks OML 112 and OML 117 which it runs Afren plc and Vitol has substantial stakes in oil blocks. Afren plc is operating EBOK oil fields in OML 67. Vitol lifts 300,000 barrels of Nigerian oil daily. Rilwanu Lukman, former OPEC Chairman has stakes in all these named three companies.
Thank you bros for this article. I have been looking for something like this all along. Now we know why they cannot wait to see the back of GEJ.

I have noticed the antics of the opposition on Nairaland. Each time Gej scores high on any area of government, the topic is downplayed and hardly makes it to the front page. Even when the topic gains front page through contributions from well meaning Nairalanders, another negative topic is drafted to the front page to divert attention.
I woke up this morning to cheering news of yesterday's resolutions of FEC. I commented on the topic " FG awards construction of second Riiver Niger bridge" on Nairaland.
There was also the news of Dualisation of second phase of Kano-Maidugri to complement Gov Sule Lamido of Jigawa's developmental strides. I logged out. On my return, I have been confronted with silly and alarmist topics again.
Where did they generate this useless topic from? Which North will stop GEJ from coming back in 2015. This, comment if true, can only be made by a man who is high on marijuana.

The FG could have even made money instead by collecting tender fees, and open tendering (which must include architectural and structural designs) would have driven the price of the final construction down since they were all competing for the same contract.
Mr Ignorant, I want you to contact an Architect to design a 5 bedroom duplex for you on the sand filled marshy lands on lekki and see how much he will charge.
Look at how you carefully dodged all the numerous contracts awarded by this govt at FEC meeting yesterday and decided to make a mockery of the cost of designing such a bridge as the second Niger Bridge.
By your post, you displayed crass ignorance of the workings of govt procurement processes. For your information, the public procurement Act 2007 precludes anybody from advertising and awarding any contract without making funds available. No govt relies on tendering fees to fund projects. Get your facts right

Like I have said before, home grown terrorism requires communal policing to combat. Without this useful information, it would have been very difficult to discover that explosives were deposited in a black cellophane bag. It would have gone off unnoticed and Kobojunkie and co will besiege this forum to lambasts GEJ for not fighting security.

This thread is deserted at the moment because the bomb attempt was foiled. What sells like hot cake is the actual bombing itself. Gradually, we are loosing our consciences and behaving like village "winches" desperate to have doom befall the nation so that we will have an opportunity to blasts this govt. it's so unfortunate.

Kobojunkie: While I agree with most everything you have said, I think we should come down to earth here and visit REAL REALITY.

a) The reason why we see the improvement today is majorly because past Governments invested in building power plants. These projects usually take years, hence the reason why many of the plants that were started during the Obasanjo years only came online in 2010/2011/2012.

b) If we have no plans to build new plants during this administration, and no private projects of the type commences within the next 3 years, then technically, we will likely no see an improvement after 2015.

c) So, yes the current Government has tried, especially if this story of improved gas tranmission is true, but let's not forget the past administrations that helped make this "improvement" possible. If Obasanjo had not signed the power projects he did, we would all not be here celebrating this today. And please I am not holding brief for Obasanjo or Yar adua.
Mr or Mrs Kobojunkie, this marks a poor attempt to strip credit due to GEJ on the visible improvement on the power sector.

( a ) it was unintelligent of you to say that the power plants started by Obj naturally evolved and came online now. Unarguably, Obj did set in motion the power sector reforms through power sector reforms Act 2005 and the NIPP.
However, you would recall that the NIPP was abandoned after Obj's exit following revelations of massive corruption in NIPP. YarAdua abandoned it without alternative plans for generation and so we went back to square one. When GEJ took over, he launched the power sector roadmap and revived the NIPP. Today, we have Afam, Alaoji, Papalanto, Omotosho, calabar, sapele refurbished. Mambilla and Zungeru are nearing completion.

( b) you must also note that what has hindered sufficient power generation is inadequacy of gas caused by huge indebtedness by PHCN to NGC. To solve this problem, the govt decided to review tariffs to make it cost reflective and attractive to private sector investments on gas.

(c) finally, today we all know that OBJ started the power sector reforms and the NIPP initiative. We also know that GEJ launched a power sector roadmap anchored on the revival of NIPP, Review of tariff order, privatization of PHCN etc. please, tell me Yaradua govts power policy.

I consider those haters as true enemies of Nigeria. They just scavenge for anything bad news before they can invade to feast on the thread.
For them, a thread like this is not lucrative because it's progressive. They behave like village witches, always seeking for evil to befall the nation.
I do not begrudge them because they make a living out of attacking the government and good people of Nigeria.
Even where it is obvious that govt has recorded a major success, these paid agents will wish it is not true.
But I'm happy that the administration keeps surviving their hatred.
