Madam, I believe you. Right from the day you dazzled world bank experts and earned the respect of the Mexican candidate to step down for you in the race for World Bank president, I have no doubt in your abilities. None compares to your pedigree as a Renouned world Economist. There is need to entrench fiscal discipline in a country where past leaders have thrived on profligacy. The culture of waste in execution of our national budget must stop. Only critical areas should be funded because the nation is in dire need of development of critical infrastructure. I salute your efforts at cutting down recurrent expenditure by a record 12% in the 2012 budget. I hope you reduce it further in the 2013 budget proposal. I acknowledge your remarkable initiative to create the Soverign Wealth Fund in order to stop the frivolous sharing of excess revenue and invest for the future. I appreciate your determination to verify subsidy claims before payments and refusal to pay outstanding claims to marketers and oil trading companies who were indicted by the AIG committee for major infractions in the subsidy regime. They may sponsor NUPENG to cause untold hardship to Nigerians but I believe that the triumph of evil over good is just but temporal. |
Inspite of the sponsored terrorism and insurgency, Jonathan is forging ahead successfully. In transportation, he is working towards reviving our railway system. So many railway projects are ongoing including the award of phase II of Lagos-Kano to CCCEC. The minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, led a reforms task force that sanitized the ports. First, they sacked all sorts of law enforcement agents that besieged the ports and thereby eased operations at the ports. Facilities were upgraded and steps initiated for 24 hrs operations in line with global best practices. Last week, Jonathan has commissioned another port in Onitsha scoring another milestone in transportation. |
The last time I checked, Buhari said he wasn't going to contest again. He publicly said it prior to the 2007 elections that he will not contest again. Suddenly, he has re appeared seeking for another shot at the presidency. Hypocrite! Buhari is now a proffesional presidential candidate. Since the return of our democracy, no election passes without Buhari being a candidate. In fact, any general election without Buhari is incomplete. We need him to contest in 2015 too, so that the general election will be legitimate |
Billyonaire: This is silly. Why would a Trade Union be exchanging words with a Political Party when it members are also members of diverse Political parties even in PDP. Are we now saying that NUPENG is now an arm of ACN ?Exactly my questions too. If anything, most of NUPENG's members work in Rivers state. Can they say the PDP government in the state led by Chuibike Rotimi Amaechi is their problem? Can they also say that in AKWA IBOM , where most of their members operate, that PDP has failed? We must learn to be objective and desist from playing politics with development. Every party has its own fair share of the good, bad and ugly. If we are to rank 5 topmost performing governors, PDP will come in with three AKPABIO, AMAECHI, CHIME,. ACN will come in with FASHOLA while ROCHAS comes in for APGA. The most performing Governor in the North is Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa of PDP. Not CPC or ANPP. At the national level, we have not seen another party in power so as to draw objective comparisons. But if the Tinubu's style of leadership in the south West is anything to go by, then I pray we never have the misfortune of an ACN presidency. |
Biggyd2: What is that GEJ's new advert again? ...Yeah, i have it, "President Jonathan will be the BEST LOVED President in Nigeria ever" and the other one about surprising Nigerians come 2013! Taking over Power Ministry is a First for his government, so maybe his new slogans have started working for him. Time will tell!My brother, thank you for saying the truth even at the risk of being labelled a 40 man laptop member by some paid agents who have sworn an affidavit to deny the visible improvement on power nationwide. The problem of rotation is caused by the transformer in your neighborhood. The ongoing privatisation of PHCN will take care of the problem if completed. The new distribution companies and TCN will make sure that the power from national grid gets to you and make profit in return |
I believe in transformation agenda. I cherish fresh air. I love reforms. I applaud action. Since Barth Nnaji resigned, I have been wondering whom the cap fits to take over. My fears are that the wrong person could come to rubbish all the successes recorded so far. But this news comes as a big relief. Let the president directly supervise the ministry and ongoing privatisation. It will increase transperancy and efficiency. The electricity unions can now channel their grievances to the president. Let us also see how enemies of the ongoing privatisation will bribe the president and scuttle the process. |
Kobojunkie: Railway is the one ministry I know has been working since 2009. This is one ministry that ought to get kudos when it comes to getting work done.Must you advertise your ignorance? Can't you just keep quiet over issues you don't understand? Which railway ministry? The one you created and appointed the minister? Haba! Kobojunkie, you should know more than this. From this post, it's obvious you don't live in Nigeria. You are also paid heavily to derail this government from abroad. |
Real drama. Let them continue to wash thier dirty linens in public. It will place more information in the public domain |
taharqa: I am astounded by this decision. Nnaji was one of the Ministers that was doing his job meticulously. You spoke my mind so no need to talk again |
Dhelake: according to page 14 of saturdayI gave you three links to view in proof of my claims. I will reproduce them as follows: http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/index.php/business/174360-power-generation-hits-4477mw http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/business/57661-electricity-generation-hits-record-4477mw.html http://newsbreaknigeria.com/news/Nigeria+hits+record+4%2C477.7+megawatts Now unless you hate truth or detest objectivity or have a phobia for evidence, you will not have problems agreeing to this overwhelming evidence. I challenge you to debunk the facts with your own links attached, not page 5 or 6 of DHELAKE TIMES which other Nairalanders cannot access. |
; COOLDUN: dedeike: from your comic write up I can clearly see that you are real dedeike , the meaning of your name in Igbo is the senior brother of ass, you are ike nsi , I know you are doing your work, as an attacking DOG. Where and when was the award of the best Ministers given to your pay masters? Or you single handedly gave them the awards? You are a big fool by writing that trash you called a comment. When someone doesn’t reason like you guys he becomes your enemy. It is a pity that you only show your educated superiority on the nairaland forum. I can’t wait to seeing you as a minster Mr Otele nsi.A MAD MAN ON THE LOOSE The danger in joining issues with people like this is that you risk being labelled insane by other Naiaralanders who may not distinguish the real mad man between both of you.. |
talk2cj08: Mumu must u exhibit ur sense of stupidity. Do u know what time it takes to build one laudable projectDon't mind the mugu's. In their warped minds, they think power projects to be rechargble lanterns which can be coupled in 5 mins. |
@cooldun, I tried so hard to read through your gibberish without a single paragraph. But I could see you have a problem with the trio of Diezani, Okonjo and SANUSI. My question is, what wrong has these fellows done to you? Diezani is safely coming across as the Best Petroluem minister ever. A lot has happened in the Petroluem sector under her watch. She is the first woman who had the courage to confront the cabal and sought to close the window of corruption called subsidy, which has turned both politicians and civil servants alike to billionaires in Nigeria. It was her policy directive that we need to start full deregulation by removing rsubsidy immediately. Unfortunately, the same cabal mobilised labour to confuse issues and retain subsidy. A time will come in the history of our great country when we will regret to have ever opposed that move. Not done, she invited Ribadu to oversee govt revenue in the oil sector. She also opened up the sector to probe by AIG IMOUKHEDE. Today, AIG has submitted his reports against all odds. Govt is now implementing the report and sanctioning erring marketers thus leading to protests and strikes. For the first time in the history of this country, we have seen influential people in the country being charged to court for subsidy fraud. We are seeing oil marketers refund stolen oil money. We are seeing a govt insist on punishing oil markerters who were indicted for major infractions in the subsidy regime. Diezani is undertaking the refurbishment of Refineries and some will be due by November. She has also entered into PPP with VULCAN ENERGY for construction of new refineries. Diezani braced the odds to formulate the new comprehensive PIB which is acclaimed by all to be the much needed legislation for the overhaul of the oil sector. Under her watch, we have hit the highest record of 2.7MBPD in oil production. Under her watch, she has executed the gas to power plan which is meant to supply gas to the newly refurbished power stations. |
Some people just beef Diezani. My question is, what wrong has she done? Diezani is safely coming across as the Best Petroluem minister ever. A lot has happened in the Petroluem sector under her watch. topsywest: Thanks but i refuse to join issues with you. The best way to kill an argument is to label the other party insane. If you have better points why don't you state them instead of trying to attack my person? How long will you continue to peddle this and advertise your ignorance in the process? You have been told earlier in another thread that the figures you have been spreading, with all it's inaccuracies, do not exclusively accrue to the Federal government. This revenue is shared among the three tiers of government viz: Federal, State, Local Government. Monthly, State Commissioners of finance converge in Abuja in a FAAC meeting to review the sharing. The Lagos state government receives a share of this money and also accounts for the largest share of our national debts. Review this link for list of indebted states.http://www.punchng.com/news/lagos-kaduna-criver-ogun-oyo-top-foreign-debtors-list/ |
nagoma: @DedeikeI will never fall for this temptation to start exchange of abuses. Yes I work for Tompolo, but please respond to these facts: "Mr president, I believe you. And I have never been ashamed nor afraid to say it. You are bringing something new and refreshing to governance. Under your watch, we are beginning to experience new frontiers in the art of governance. We are beginning to see openness and transparency at its peak. Before you came, NNPC and allied oil agencies were ran like secret cults. No body knew how much was paid as subsidy or the faces behind importation. Subsidy payments were drawn as first line charge, no appriopration whatsoever. Today, we have not only seen the faces of the cabal but we have seen them being dragged to court. Your govt has given us the first comprehensive legislation on Energy sector as PIB. Your govt is repairing our refineries and executed PPP with Vulcan for 6 new ones. You are reforming poower. Refurbishing power plants and pursuing privatisation of PHCN. In one year, you have recorded an all time high generation of 4,477 megawatts as evidenced in the links below http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/index.php/business/174360-power-generation-hits-4477mw http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/business/57661-electricity-generation-hits-record-4477mw.html http://newsbreaknigeria.com/news/Nigeria+hits+record+4%2C477.7+megawatts" |

The works include massive upgrade of runways and all airport facilities. You are sanitizing our ports, withdrawing 9 parasitic agencies from the wharfs thereby easing the clearing of goods You are starting 9 new federal universities in one year, 2 law school campuses in Yola and Yenogoa, increased funding to 400 billion, setting up Almajiri school systems, settled all outstanding issues with ASUU thereby reducing strikes. Upgrade of lectures retirement age from 65 to 70. Minimum wage increment for workers and corpers. Spearheading Agricultural reforms and fertilizer redistribution and the cassava initiative which is largely misunderstood by the unintelligent. reviving our railways. Commenced phase II of the Lagos- Kano. With Abuja-Kaduna at 30% ongoing. Through your minister of finance, you re entrenching fiscal discipline and insisting that all projects must pass through due process causing corrupt politicians to threaten impeachment. They say you should have implemented 100% a budget that was only passed in April all because you insist that the era of racketeering with constituency projects are gone. |
The survey is highly needed. A lot of rot in the system. Over the years, so many consumers have connected to the national grid illegally. In many areas, people just build houses and connect to the nearest PHCN pole without proper authorization. Besides, our census figures are politiciased and highly unreliable. So we may not even make proper evaluation of demand So as to know the apprioprate supply. For a proper reform to berth, all these issues must Be addressed. That is also how to know that the FG is really working. |
playcharles: NA GAS OR NA RAIN THEM THEY USE POWER,BOTH |
I still have my reservations over negotiating with terrorists but if that is what is required to end this menace, then no problem. Perhaps, we call it the carrot and stick approach. Give carrot to those willing to repent and flog with stick those who are bent on perpetuating this evil. |
born2fuck: Sack sanusi,Sack sanusi,Sack sanusi,Sack sanusi,Sack sanusi,Sack sanusi,And appoint you abi? |
The source of electricity in Nigeria is Hydroelectric. It is a Turbine that is turned by the force in a large volume of water. That is why we have Dams in Nigeria like Kainji, Shiroro and others. There's usually a high volume of water during raining season which will eventually increase the revolution of the Turbines at the Dams and directly increase power supply. But this is problem we have in Nigeria: sustainance, the Federal Government knew all this right and they should have made provision for storage just like the oil refineries for continuous usage and we will not have problem again.. There are even billions feet of natural gases deposited in the oil regions of the country which the government have been blind to these resources, if exploited, it will generally improve standard of living of Nigerians.
This your post would have made much sense if it were pre 2005. The present reality is that we do not depend solely on Hydroelectric. We have built thermal stations as follows calabar, IHOVBOR, Omotosho, calabar, Alaoji, GEREGU, OLORUNSHOGO. Etc It is the refurbishment of these power stations plus the execution of gas to power plan by Diezani that has led to the much celebrated increase in generation. |
chucky234: I just can't stop laughing at your ignorance, sending me a link of a national newspaper that we all know works for the govt.Still advertising his ignorance further. Anybody following our debate so far right from the first page will simply laugh you to stupor. In your desperation to attack GEJ, you came out blabbing that there was nothing like 4477 MW. You even dared me to prove it. You gave the mischievous impression that I concorted the 4,477MW figures myself. I went the extra mile to source the evidence for you. Having been confronted with the stark reality of your foolishness, your story has changed. You have resorted to the lame and laughable argument that my links are from sources that work for govt ![]() So the NATIONNEWSPAPERS now work for Govt? DAILYTRUST also works for GOVT? SMH* When you saw how laughable this sounds? You somersaulted again to rephrase the issues to Barth NNaji's expenditure as if that has ever been the issue here. But let me still join issues with you on that score because you re like a drowning man seeking for any last straw to cling on. The entire power sector was allocated just about 200 billion Naira in 2012 budget. Even if Barth Nnaji has squandered all in refurbishing the power plants, which we know it's impossible given the 56% budget performance, it's still doesn't come close to your imaginary billions of dollars. I await a further public show of your ignorance on this thread. |
gbadexy: @dedeike,My brother, it is never in doubt that power has increased significantly in most parts of Nigeria. What is however in doubt is whether the improvement is sustainable on the long run or just a flash in the pan. Any objective mind in Nigeria will agree that our power crisis dating back to as much as 50 years cannot be completely resolved just withing a year of GEJ's ascension as elected president. But this govt more than any other has demonstrated sufficient committment to power reforms starting from the refurbishment of power plants which has translated to an all time record generation of 4,477 mw as evidenced in the following links. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/index.php/business/174360-power-generation-hits-4477mw http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/business/57661-electricity-generation-hits-record-4477mw.html http://newsbreaknigeria.com/news/Nigeria+hits+record+4%2C477.7+megawatts The govt appreciates that it is not yet Uhuru hence the ongoing PRIVATISATION of PHCN. we equally have distribution and transmission issues to tackle. In the next 8months, just like AMADI said, govt will continue to overhaul. But before then there Will be a slight drop of 300 MW when dry season sets in. This drop, however, will not obliterate the successes so far as we still have above 4000 MW generated by thermal station capacity which he said were recovered by GEJ. |
chucky234: Where did you get your 4,477MW from? What we have in distribution is below 4000MW and you are celebrating your daftness already, what do you know about power generation and can you tell me how much money the govt has spent in the past 24 months just to generate 1000MW of electricity that you are celebriting?I know that you have sworn on oath and pledged to distort facts and truth. While I do not begrudge you for hating truth but I owe this forum a duty not to allow you advertise it. Please open this link and confirm to the world how much ignorant you have been on power generation. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/index.php/business/174360-power-generation-hits-4477mw http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/business/57661-electricity-generation-hits-record-4477mw.html http://newsbreaknigeria.com/news/Nigeria+hits+record+4%2C477.7+megawatts |
Pukkah: He urged Nigerians not to be too hopeful about the recent improvement, stating that a massive haulage of power will come in the near future.Ignorance is very bad. I wonder whether some of us just bother to read through topics before jumping to advertise our illiteracy on this forum. The current capacity is 4,477 megawatts. Shiroro and Kainji hydro contributes 300 MW to the national grid. There's going to be a drop definitely when rainy season stops but d drop won't exceed 300 Mw as AMADI said. If you minus 300mw from existing 4,477 mw , it still leaves you with above 4,000 MW. How is this so difficult to understand? |
nagoma: The balls to allow a free trial and appropriate sanction. Is there any example of that? We all know about ibori's and similar cases. He has no balls , he needs transplants.Get your facts right. The evidence is there in the public domain. This is the first president to have the balls to confront corruption in oil sector. Until now, NNPC was run like a secret cult without public access to information as to subsidy payments, claims, revenue, marketers and trader companies. Now their activities have been exposed. The oil cabal is now known and meant to refund almost half a trillion to Nigeria. You have a TV and should hve seen subsidy suspects being dragged to court in batches. Even the sons of PDP leaders are not spared. We have seen the Tukur's and Ali's of this world face trial for subsidy. We have seen the massive shake up and sack of NNPC and PPPRA bosses for mismanagement of the inside regime. We have seen perm secs and senior civil servants involved in the police pensions probe being charged to court. For the list of those indicted under the subsidy probe. Review this link. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/subsidy-payments-fg-probes-21-firms-over-alleged-fraud/122606/ |
The topic is a hybrid of half truths, objective criticisms and innuendos. I appreciate the Op's assertion that Reuben Abati has been confronted with the reality of governance. If he were on the other side of the divide, he would have been the most vocal critic of this administration. I also appreciate his admission of the progress in PHCN. But that is where my admiration of the OP stops. I take strong exception to the prediction that GEJ will go down in history as the lowest in approval rating. Please speak for yourself. Many Nigerians undertstand and still love GEJ. They hail Jonathan for the significant improvement in power supply nationwide and support him to sustain it. Of course, it will be sustained when the ongoing privatisation finally berths. The PIB is going to be another milestone of this govt in the energy sector. By the time the provision regarding the involvement of host communities in operations of the oil companies is enforced, it will be praise galore in the Niger Delta. When NNPC is unbundled, PEF dissolved, and the downstream fully deregulated, it will be a new dawn that wil herald new refineries, gas plants, employment opportunities and a fall in pump price. It is the biggest lie of the millennium that GEJ travels abroad and fails to translate that experience into better governance for tax payers. All his trips have yielded real dividends. Today, we have SIEMENS, GENERAL ELECTRIC. Brasilian Electric giants-ELECTROBUS all coming to invest in our power sector. VULCAN ENERGY has also come in to execute a PPP for building of 6 new refineries. |
Chubhie: Oga Reuben,Most of the people criticizing your principal are same people that even voted for him while some paid with their blood to make sure he is there cos they feel he is one of them. How it seems their hopes are getting dashed and they resort to insults cos that is the least they can do for now. What other balls of steel do you need from GEJ? For the first time in our history, we have seen a Nigerian FG expose oil thieves, probe them, and charged them to court. In the last one month, we have seen the sons of influential people been docked for subsidy scam. Last week, we witnessed the refusal of the FG to pay oil cabal for corruption hence the partial strike by NUPENG. Even some of those indicted in the oil subsidy scam have refunded their loot. More are still to be charged. Even the pension scammers have been exposed and are facing trial. What other steel balls do you require of Jonathan? |
Of course Mr president, I believe you. And anyone who thinks otherwise is a WINCH we must overcome Boko Haram and suicide terrorism. We must overcome our power crisis with the Prof. Barth Nnaji power reforms. We will overcome oil marketers and subsidy cabal. We will overcome our energy problems with PIB. we will overcome unemployment and food shortages with Adrshina's agricultural revolution. We will overcome Aviation difficulties with Odua's massive reconstruction works at the airports. We must overcome our transportation challenges with the refurbishment of existing raili lines and the ongoing construction of Abuja -Kaduna, the award of Lagos -KANO to CCNEC. We will overcome, surely we will! |
Exactly my mind too. I don't know jack about the economic anatomy of this introduction of 5000 Naira note and it's relationship with inflation. I need tutorials seriously. I urge those crying foul to come and explain so we can understand. I'm not an economist but a good student of history. Nigerian history is replete with this pre currency introduction criticisms but they turn out to be inconsequential to the value of the Naira at the long run. we heard it during the introduction of 100, 200, 500, 1000, and now 5000 Naira denominations. There is no tangible proof that it is responsible for the growth or otherwise of our economy. Tutorials please! |
Black Mamba: Dedeike, why are you wasting ur time replying dis guy Taiw.he is just lazy and seeking attention. I was touched by his ignorance so I decided to spare sometime to educate him. |

The danger in joining issues with people like this is that you risk being labelled insane by other Naiaralanders who may not distinguish the real mad man between both of you..
