Members of the security forces hold up UN caps and insignia outside the airport of Timbuktu on 30 June 2013 The West African troops in Timbuktu will be given blue UN peacekeeping caps The United Nations is beginning its military mission in Mali by bringing the 6,000 West African troops already in the country under its command. By December it will reach full strength with 12,640 uniformed personnel. The UN will take over security duties from the French forces which led an operation to oust Islamist militants from the north in January. Its first mission will be to secure the north so that Mali can hold a presidential election on 28 July. Taking advantage of a coup in March 2012, an al-Qaeda group and its allies took control of the north of Mali, including major cities such as Gao, Kidal and Timbuktu where they imposed a strict form of Islamic law. France decided to intervene after the militants threatened to march on the capital, Bamako. Since January, about 4,000 French troops, with the help of Malian and West African soldiers, have gained control of the vast desert region's main towns and cities, but some Islamist militants have been leading guerrilla-style attacks. (1) Kids do not know better, they will grow up in a society where homosexuality is celebrated and they will simply embrace it-no one is born an homosexual,as kids we copy what we see and hear from our parents and the society. The notion that people are born as homosexuals is wrong and incorrect. (2) It alters natures plan for Mankind-the adopted kids of homosexuals will not have a chance to have a normal balanced parenthood-they too will grow up accepting homosexualism because its all they know and see from their parents-just like we grow up accepting the religions we are born and raised in. (3) It distabilises and alters the plan of God for humanity,in the long run,as homosexuality tendencies proliferate and becomes widely accepted due to pressures from western Nations/amnesty and co-the humans race will depend only on artificial means of reproduction-such as insemination and cross breeding using laboratories and science. This will greatly alter family life and negatively impact on the psychology of future kids. (4) For us that believe in God and the Bible, homosexual acts is one of the sins that incured the wrath of God in the Bible,it is one of the major reason God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. When the people of Sodom and Gomorrah were revelling in homosexual acts and even wanted to sleep with the messengers that came to warn Lot and his family-God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. The world should wake up from this deception and face reality, this path we are taking of embracing and encouraging homosexuality will lead to peril and will destabilize the plan of God for humanity Distributenaija..com |

NEW: "Sorry kids, your dad's dead," Prince Jackson says Dr. Conrad Murray told him Paris was "hit the hardest because she was my dad's princess," Prince says Prince describes "aggressive" encounter between AEG head and Dr. Murray The wrongful death trial of AEG Live is in its ninth week in a Los Angeles courtroom -- Michael Jackson often cried after talking to AEG Live executives as he prepared for his comeback concerts, his oldest son testified Wednesday. "After he got off the phone, he would cry," Prince Jackson testified. "He would say 'They're going to kill me, they're going to kill me.'" His father told him he was talking about AEG Live CEO Randy Phillips and his ex-manager, Dr. Tohme Tohme, Prince said. Prince, 16, began his testimony Wednesday morning in his family's wrongful death lawsuit against Jackson's last concert promoter, AEG Live. His first 30 minutes on the stand were filled with videos and photographs of Jackson with his children, but then the questioning by Jackson lawyer Brian Panish focused on the last weeks of his father's life. Michael Jackson\'s children in the spotlight Michael Jackson's children in the spotlight Doctor: Jackson had no REM sleep Paris: Michael said nanny 'lied a lot' Compare Michael Jackson in 2001 to 2009 Prince testified that Phillips visited Jackson's rented Los Angeles mansion and spoke aggressively to Dr. Conrad Murray the night before his father's death. "He was grabbing his elbow," Prince said. "It looked aggressive to me. He was grabbing by the back of his elbow and they were really close and he was making hand motions." He couldn't hear what Phillips was saying to Murray, he said. Michael Jackson was not there because he was at his last rehearsal, Prince said. He called his father from the security guard shack telephone to let him know Phillips was there. His father asked him to offer Phillips food and drink. Prince said that was his last conversation with his father. "Sorry kids, your dad's dead" Prince recounted the day his father died four years ago. He saw his father "hanging halfway off the bed, his eyes were rolled back," when he ran into the bedroom where Dr. Murray was doing CPR in a futile effort to revive him, he said. Paris followed him up the stairs, "but we kept pulling her down the stair," he said. "She was screaming the whole time saying she wants her daddy," he said. At the hospital later, Dr. Murray told them "Sorry kids, your dad's dead," Prince testified. Prince was 12 when the pop icon died, but he said his father confided in him about whom he trusted and didn't trust and what he feared as he prepared for his comeback concerts. Michael Jackson's three children -- Prince, Paris and Blanket -- and their grandmother Katherine Jackson are plaintiffs in the lawsuit, which contends AEG Live is liable in Jackson's death because the company hired, retained or supervised Murray, the doctor convicted of involuntary manslaughter. Murray told investigators he gave Jackson nightly infusions of the surgical anesthetic propofol to treat his insomnia. The coroner ruled the singer died of an overdose of the drug. AEG Live executives allegedly created a medical conflict of interest that pressured Murray to pursue the dangerous treatments so Jackson would be rested for rehearsals, while ignoring warning signs that his health was failing, Jackson family lawyers argue. AEG Live lawyers contend that it was Jackson who chose and controlled the doctor and that company executives had no way of knowing what treatments Murray was delivering. Prince Jackson's 16th birthday gift: A career AEG Live lead lawyer Marvin Putnam's cross-examination of Prince lasted just 25 minutes. It centered on trying to discredit his testimony about Phillips' visit to his home and about cash payments that Prince said his father gave Murray at times. Prince stood by his story about the Phillips and Murray encounter, although he conceded it could have been two nights before his father's death and not the last night. The toll of losing their father Prince's testimony gave Jackson lawyers a chance to show jurors the emotional toll suffered by Jackson's children, which they would have to put a dollar figure on if they conclude AEG Live is liable in their father's death. "I can't sleep at night," Prince said. "I have a hard time sleeping." The death left him "emotionally distant from a lot of people" for a while, he said. He's missed sharing with his father "the first day of going to school, having the first girlfriend, being able to drive," Prince testified. While Paris Jackson's suicide attempt and hospitalization was not brought up in court -- and it is unclear if jurors learned about it in the news -- Prince did speak about his sister. "I think out of all of my siblings she was probably hit the hardest because she was my dad's princess," he said. Prince said the questioning of Paris by AEG Live lawyers over two days in March was painful for her. "She had some problems before, after and, I assume, during," he said. "She definitely is dealing with it in her own way," her brother said. Paris, who was 11 when her father died, is not available to testify in person in court because she is hospitalized for psychiatric treatment. While he and his sister no longer want to celebrate birthdays because "it's not the same without" their father, Blanket, now 11, does, Prince said. "Right now, I don't know if Blanket realizes what he lost," he said. "He was so young. He is still growing up just like I am and he doesn't have a father to guide him." AEG Live attempted to compel Blanket, the youngest child, to testify, but the judge rejected its request after a psychologist said it would harm the boy. Changing the world? Jurors watched a home video of Michael Jackson questioning his three children about how they planned "to change the world" when they grow up. Prince testified that the video was made at Christmas. "What's Christmas mean?" Jackson is heard asking his children. "Love," Blanket responded. "Who's Blanket going to be to change this world?" Jackson asked. "I don't know," Blanket, who appeared to be about 5 at the time, answered. "What does Paris want to do? Be honest search your heart," Jackson said. "Help the poor," she answered. Paris also said she would like to be a gymnast. Prince told his father he aspired to be a movie director and architect because he liked "making things." Private details revealed Prince, who said his grade point average is 3.68 at the private school in Sherman Oaks, California, at the end of his sophomore year. He is a member of the National Honors Society and received artistic awards at school, he said. His extracurricular activities include martial arts and working as a mechanic in his school's robotics program, he said. He wants to attend the University of Southern California to study film and business, he said. His father taught him how "the great ones" made movies, including how to "find shots." He gave him a lens that hung on a necklace that showed what a shot would look like, he said. Prince said while his school requires a certain amount of community service, he's does more than that. He volunteers at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles in a program that delivers books to young patients "to keep their minds off their problems." His father "always said you should give back to the community and help out as much as you can," Prince said. The jury was shown video of Jackson and his children at the Neverland Ranch where they lived until moving after Jackson was acquitted in a child molestation trial. The family moved after the court case "because there were complications," Prince said. "They ruined it for my dad." One video showed a giraffe and several alpacas in the Neverland Zoo. "I never really went near them because they would spit on us," Prince said. The video also showed the carnival rides at Neverland. "We only went there and to the zoo on special occasions because my dad wanted us to remain humble," he said. When shown a photo of his father sitting with him at a piano, Prince said "I can never play an instrument and I definitely can't sing." The trial is in its ninth week and is expected to last until August. www.distributeinc..com |

Rats fed with genetically modified crops Genetically modified foods (GM foods, or biotech foods) are foods produced from genetically modified organisms (GMOs), specifically, genetically modified crops. GMOs have had specific changes introduced into their DNA by genetic engineering techniques. These techniques are much more precise[1] than mutagenesis (mutation breeding) where an organism is exposed to radiation or chemicals to create a non-specific but stable change. Other techniques by which humans modify food organisms include selective breeding and somaclonal variation. Commercial sale of genetically modified foods began in 1994, when Calgene first marketed its Flavr Savr delayed ripening tomato.[2] Typically, genetically modified foods are transgenic plant products: soybean, corn, canola, and cotton seed oil. These may have been engineered for faster growth, resistance to pathogens, production of extra nutrients, or any other beneficial purpose. GM livestock have also been experimentally developed, although as of July 2010 none are currently on the market. There is broad scientific consensus that food on the market derived from GM crops pose no greater risk to human health than conventional food.[4][5][6][7][8][9] However, critics have objected to GM foods on several grounds, including safety issues,[7] ecological concerns, and economic concerns raised by the fact GM plants (and potentially animals) that are food sources are subject to intellectual property law. Doctors Warn About Dangers of Genetically Modified Food www.distributeinc..com (NaturalNews) The American Academy of Environmental Medicine has warned that the public should avoid genetically modified (GM) foods, stating, "There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation." A large number of studies and incidents have implicated GM foods in a wide variety of health problems, including accelerated aging, immune dysfunction, insulin disorders, organ damage and reproductive disruption. read the full article on www.distributeinc..com

Short Walks 'May Cut Diabetes Risk' A 15-minute walk after each meal could prevent older people developing type-2 diabetes, a study has found. The post-meal walks control blood sugar as well as one long walk, research by George Washington University suggested. Elevated blood sugar after meals could increase the risk of type-2 diabetes, so resting after eating "is the worst thing you can do", the study said. Diabetes UK said there were "small differences" between exercise routines - but any activity was beneficial, reports the BBC. The US study was the first to test short bouts of exercise in the "risky period" following meals, when blood sugar can rise rapidly, lead author Loretta DiPietro said. She said high blood sugar after meals was a key risk factor in the progression from impaired glucose tolerance - what the study called "pre-diabetes" - to type-2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The study found three 15-minute walks were as effective at reducing blood sugar over a 24-hour period as one 45-minute walk of the same "easy-to-moderate" pace. But walking after food was "significantly more effective" at "blunting the potentially damaging elevations in post-meal blood sugar commonly observed in older people". Older people may be "particularly susceptible" to poor blood sugar control after meals due to insulin resistance in the muscles and slow or low insulin secretion from the pancreas, the researchers said. They found the best time to walk was after the evening meal, which is often the largest of the day and therefore causes the greatest rise in blood sugar. This increase often lasted "well into the night and early morning", the study found, but it was "curbed significantly" as soon as people started to walk. Researchers studied 10 people aged 60 and over who were at risk of developing type-2 diabetes due to higher-than-normal levels of fasting blood sugar and insufficient physical activity. Dr DiPietro said the findings could lead to an "inexpensive strategy" for preventing type-2 diabetes, but said the results must be confirmed by larger trials. Weight loss and exercise are widely accepted as key ways to prevent type-2 diabetes, which occurs when the body does not produce enough insulin to function properly, or the body's cells do not react to insulin. Diabetes UK estimates there are up to seven million UK people at "high risk" of developing type-2 diabetes. Dr Matthew Hobbs, the charity's head of research, said the study reinforced the message that exercise was "extremely important" to reduce the risk www.distributeinc..com

President Goodluck Jonathan Jonathan, security chiefs meet Court orders SSS, police to produce suspects By Muhammad Bello and Tobi Soniyi President Goodluck Jonathan Monday met with service chiefs and other members of the security council to consider a brewing diplomatic crisis threw up by the arrest of some Lebanese businessmen and their accomplices for alleged involvement in terrorism. THISDAY checks revealed that the meeting was called against the backdrop of moves by countries sympathetic to Hezbollah, for which the suspects were accused of working for, to seek their extradition from Nigeria to prevent them from going on trial in the country. The State Security Service (SSS) and the military had arrested in Kano, four Lebanese - Mustapha Fawaz, Abdalah Tahini, Tala Ahmed Rouda and Khosai Nouridine - for illegal stockpiling of sophisticated weapons in a house in Kano and their business premises in Abuja. The suspects were accused of being part of a Hezbollah terrorist cell in Nigeria working to attack American and Israeli targets in the country. The SSS was also said to have discovered more arms cache in Amigo Supermarket and Wonderland Amusement Park in Abuja, which belong to some of the suspects, and sought the president’s permission to demolish the supermarket. However, the suspects headed for the Federal High Court, seeking N50 billion in damages from the federal government for their unlawful arrest and detention without trial. The court Monday ordered the SSS, the Inspector General of Police (IG) and the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) to produce Fawaz, the owner of the supermarket, and others in custody in connection with the case. It was learnt that the matter engaged the attention of the security council at an emergency meeting held at the State House. THISDAY learnt that the meeting was convened to stave off a possible diplomatic row that could pit Nigeria against backers of the Lebanon-based Hezbollah. The security chiefs, comprising the service chiefs, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the IG and the Director General of the SSS, after the meeting declined to speak with State House reporters on their deliberations. But a security source told THISDAY that the meeting was prompted by moves by Jordan, acting on behalf of other Hezbollah allies, to, through the back channel, lobby the federal government to extradite the suspected terrorists to Lebanon for trial. The source, who was privy to the deliberations of the security chiefs, told THISDAY that Jonathan sought their advice on the issue. He explained that Hezbollah, through its sponsors in Iran and Syria, persuaded the Lebanese government to intervene in the matter by seeking the extradition of the offenders. This, he added, was agreed upon but the Lebanese decided it would not act directly but solicited the assistance of Jordan to lobby for the extradition of the suspects. “The president wanted to know what can be done to avoid a diplomatic row with the Middle-East countries that are patrons of these Lebanese. “He also urged them to exploit means of soft-landing in the crisis in such a way that it will not have a boomerang effect on the efforts his administration is making to tackle the regime of insecurity that has hitherto threatened peace in some states of the North,” the source said. “The Lebanese may have gone to court with the foreknowledge of this back door diplomatic manoeuvre that is trying to get them off the hook. So, now instead of getting scared that they will be prosecuted and possibly jailed, the Lebanese are now trying to play games with the federal government. “If you notice, the presidency couldn’t expressly grant permission to the SSS to proceed legally with the demolition of Amigo,” the source explained. Meanwhile, Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court in Abuja Monday ordered the SSS, the IG and the AGF to produce Fawaz and two other Lebanese suspected to have imported arms cache into the country for alleged terrorist activities. The court directed the defendants to produce the suspects before it on June 13. The judge gave the order following an ex-parte application by counsel to the suspects, including Chief Robert Clarke (SAN), Ahmed Raja (SAN) and 12 others. The suspects had sued the three defendants, challenging their arrest and continued detention. Out of the four prayers before the court, the trial judge only granted the request of the counsel to produce the suspects on June 13. www.distributeinc..com for more current news and information.

A teenager selling coffee in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo was arrested by Islamist rebel fighters for insulting the Prophet Mohammed, beaten and then executed in front of his family, a watchdog group claims. The boy, Mohammed Qatta, 14, reportedly refused to give a customer coffee, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported Sunday. "Even if [Prophet] Mohammed comes back to life, I won't," the boy said, who was known by his nickname "Salmo." Extremist rebels driving past in a black car overheard the comment, the opposition Aleppo Media Center said. Qatta was taken away by the fighters and later brought back, his head wrapped with his shirt and his body covered with marks from whipping. The rebels then read out the boy's sentence - not in a Syrian accent, but in classical Arabic. They accused the boy of blasphemy and told the crowd - which included the boy's parents - that anyone who insulted the Prophet would suffer a similar fate. Qatta was then shot in the mouth and neck. A graphic photo was released late Sunday of the dead boy clearly showing wounds that matched the reports. The boy's parents confirmed the accounts in an interview posted online on Monday by the Aleppo Media Center. In it, his father stoically recounted the execution while his mother wailed. "Why did they kill my son," she cried. "We are not for or against anybody in this conflict, may God take revenge on them." The Islamists and their group have yet to be identified. Large swathes of rebel-held Aleppo are under the control of al Qaeda-linked rebel groups who have set up Sharia courts and welcomed large numbers of foreign fighters into their ranks. The United States and its allies have struggled with the question of whether to arm an extremely fragmented opposition force whose strongest elements have pledged allegiance to al Qaeda. Aleppo is expected to become of the focal point of Syria's two-year civil war in the coming days as Syrian forces look to take back full control of Syria's most populous city in a new offensive reportedly dubbed "Northern Storm." Just saw this news on www.distributeinc..com are these the rebels America and Uk want to give more weapons? sad!

It is good for the UN to say this but it is better for them to advise Chevron,Mobil, cocacola, mercedes and all the big brands of the G8 countries to implement policies that have direct impact on the poor and most vunerable members of the Nigerian society.it will take nothing from these foreign companied to feed all primary school Kids in public schools in Nigeria. These companies individualy make more money than the Nigerian state from our natural resources and from patronage of the Nigerian populace of their goods and services. They make billions of dollars from Nigeria everyday.spending 2million dollars each month feeding all public school children is a meagre amount of money for them. UN,America,Britain and the G8 team do some soul searching, do the right thing. |
Respect Jonathan. Sir please ignore mediocres, keep doing good-sorround yourself with objective people that want good for Nigeria. God help you in your task sir,but show God and us real sincerity of purpose by curbing corruption. This is possible if you push a bill advcating for stiffer punishment for corrupt and criminal government workers, appointees, and elected politicians. As a people we have to face reality and determine our faith. Justice, transparency and welfare for our old and vunerable is the way to a safer, more developed Nigeria that we will be proud of. Americans,Britain and other Nations are looking out for themselves, why not we? Greed is a weakness,a greedy man will never taste real glory. |
