EducationRe: Is Studying Engineering In Nigeria A Scam? by DeejaywonDJ1(m): 7:46am On Apr 15, 2019
Everybody is just trying to sound intelligent but are they? How successful are those who are trying to defend our rotten education system? Have they in anyway profer solution to those point OP raise? What is their contribution to their field of study aside their humorous certificate. And some even said we shouldn't rely on government, what an absurd and an unintelligent submission. If you don't know what to say or how to solve problem confronting engineering in nigeria just keep quiet.
EducationRe: Is Studying Engineering In Nigeria A Scam? by DeejaywonDJ1(m): 12:09am On Apr 15, 2019
What will failedto understand is that their are some factors that influence Engineering education:
1. Environment.
2. Quality of your Elementary & High school Education.
3. Passion.
4. Quality Teaching materials and Facilities.
5. Quality of teachers at all level of your education.
6. Funding.
The only one will possess is passion, we lack the rest. So tell me how you do want those students to be successful when they lack everything important in acquiring engineering knowledge. MIT research gran for one year is 10times more than all Nigeria Universities combine not to talk of their annual budget which is more than our annual budget for all level of our Education. And you're here saying rubbish. What will if those countries you all travel to is being run like Nigeria?. Shior, Yeye people trying hard to sound intelligent and enlightened. You should all try and read all those country education system.

I don't think there is any University in Nigeria that has the facility and qualified teaching staff to offer engineering programs. If the appropriate accrediting agencies from the US or Western Europe come over here to assess our engineering programs, I don't think any Nigerian university will pass.
It costs a lot of money to equip an engineering department. And you need enough experienced, qualified teaching staff.
Even in the US, it is only the reputable Universities that offer engineering programs.
I would not advise any young man or woman to waste their time studying engineering in Nigeria.
Exactly sir, You seems to be the only one that understands the whole scenerio better, they've been spewing gibberish since calling each harsh names, saying some people are lazy etc. Even South Africa & Egypt produce better Engineers becos they have the capacity. But our people won't understand they'll expect ill-equiped environment, student & Teachers to perform magic
EducationRe: Is Studying Engineering In Nigeria A Scam? by DeejaywonDJ1(m): 10:23pm On Apr 14, 2019
To be candid, non of you ever try to point to the problem or try to solve it only few did point to, and most of you call yourself a brilliant engineer but full time ignorant.
The major problems are the environment(Government), quality of education, quality of professionals in education. We're really far behind in all ramification. Let's take a critical look at all countries you've all mentioned above, starting from their system of education. Government played the key role in their education development, without them education will be completely useless like Nigeria. Readup everything about education of those top engineering countries and come back with concrete solutions not lame arguments. Everything about education depend solemnly on government 100%, Nigerians are not lazy only some are. Imagine if government did not provide those education structure for those great scientists and engineers.

Where will they get the resources to pursue such plan...
Besides F.G basic educational policy supersede that of regional or state govt....
Go to state ministries of education....
It's dead, nothing goes on there....
Moreso, tertiary education curriculum is designed by NUC or NABTEB.....
Universities must follow the curriculum if they are to be accredited....
Unitary system is killing Nigeria....
Sir, Our leaders down here are visionless, there is no policy stopping them from doing it. There are many resources spread all over but they refuse to mine it (human, raw and natural) andwe expect those resources to mine themselves without effort.

Let's stop all these lamentation because it won't solve any of our problems. Pa Awolowo transformed western region without university education but with standard Primary & Junior secondary education (Iwe Mewa) certificate at age16 with that you can start working (German standard). What stop our present Southwestern region from following the procedure because Primary and Secondary schools system are under their control. The only solution to our problem is let for us in Southwest to copy german Education system and Bologna declaration, Turn all our universities to research university. Teaching STEM in our own language(Yoruba) and English, and taking any foreign language of your choice.

They are using those kids for business, there are many more of it around Nigeria. They should bring them down to Ekiti. Some motherless baby's home like four have low population.

RomanceRe: How Can I Stop My Friend From Bringing His Girlfriends To My Apartment? by DeejaywonDJ1(m): 5:13am On Mar 27, 2019
You just need to apply wisdom, don't sour your friendship because of this simple stuff, because you might still need him in future and you can't affordto hurt yourself mentally and emotionally. Just invite your mum or dad, maybe one of your brothers. Then problem will automatically solve itself. My best friend can't try that with me not because I won't allow him but his real girlfriend is my friend as well and he will have to pay heavily for keeping his dirty secrets from his family, my mum, his real girl family. Just note that your happiness is more important.
PoliticsRe: Why Do We Send Generated Power To National Grid And Receive A Fraction? by DeejaywonDJ1(m): 10:50pm On Mar 20, 2019
The Transmission of power is simple and have little problems aside from maintenance. But where the problem is is the distribution where the customer and distribution companies are trying hard to outsmart each other, problem will arise due to jampacking of buildings, high cost maintenance of distribution materials.
PoliticsRe: Why Do We Send Generated Power To National Grid And Receive A Fraction? by DeejaywonDJ1(m): 10:39pm On Mar 20, 2019
It's not about the constitution, but bad leadership quality and bad citizens. In terms of light generation, transmission and distributions, the problem start with poor planning on each categories. There are some Estates, GRAs, well plan residential areas, and some areas around this our very country that don't even believe that there is something like power outage, they only read it online or when they leave their domain. Our villages, towns, cities are not well planned, roads are constructed anyhow, houses were built like something else, People will build house under high tension transmission line & you can't try any poo with them cos they'll claim victim. Generation is quiet simple but have is own problem as well Dam(rainy and dry season, expensive to build, long transmission distance), Coal-steam engine(pollution pollution pollution, transportation of coal from source), Gas turbine(pollution pollution pollution, transportation of fuel, expensive, bursting of gas pipeline), thermal-pollution, diesel-pollut

Your explanation is different from what that nonentity was saying.

Not that it can't be done... Not that is not possible but due to geological hazards, it is not advised.
That is it sir, even flood is playing hide & seek game with them upnorth due to dam overflow. Asejire dam almost cleared half of Ibadan if not for timely intervention. We're not yet mature for anything sophisticated like dam, education, governance etc. in this country due to bad leadership and poor maintenance and our non challant attitude towards everything.

You're very funny sir, so you want flood to wash away my dear village, that is not possible due to lowlevel down south here (some metres above sea level) and if its possible, the cost and environmental hazard will be high.

sO HE HAS LESS THAN TWO YEARS TO GO THEN HE WANT'S TO QUIT?

why did he even bother going to school when he knew AGE was not on his side?
It is clear he is LAZY... an engineering student can not call it a waste... BECAUSE he knows there is more to learn and his Bng is his first access to jobs plus certifications.

Whatever is making him HIGH, he should stop taking it and sit his metallic arse down and study for his forthcoming exams.... THERE IS TIME FOR EVERYTHING.

HURRYING OUT OF SCHOOL is not wisdom... no matter what.

So my advice to you and your friend is to get the degree first then you can skip NYSC.
Thanks for the advice, that's what I explained to him, He's also brilliant and intelligent.
BusinessA Confused Friend Of Mine Need Your Urgent Advise Dear Nairalanders. by DeejaywonDJ1(op):
My friend just finish his industrial training but he's really confuse to chose between dropping out of school and start business with his school fees around 100k, final year projects, graduation expenses and other expenses amounting to over 150k. He's 26years old, an Engineering 400l student going to final year. He's also afraid of wasting two and half years for 500l and NYSC, and maybe some years also searching for job or opportunity to raise capital. He also question on the average salary of Engineers in Nigeria which is not even up to what some normal traders earn as profit in just two weeks. He also have 40k in savings.

CultureRe: Another Meaning Of The Word ADE in Yoruba Names by DeejaywonDJ1(m): 11:52pm On Oct 17, 2018
dayton8701:
The word "Ade" does not necessary means crown in Yoruba naming. Sometimes it can be a verb.for example: A-de meaning "arrive" or "my arrival" depending on the context.
When you say Adedayo it can be easily translated to my to"my crown turn to joy" which does not really makes sense. but the real meaning is "my arrival brought joy.
I believe this is educative.
You're absolutely right about this but wrong with the interpretation. It simply means 'the baby boy has already been delivered before your/our arrival, so you/we met the joy(the baby) when you/we arrived.
