Mynd44: I completely disagree. It depends on the head of government of minister.
An audit was ordered and some corporations did not open their books. If a government has any credibility at all, they will ask why those agencies decided not to open their books and order them to bit this government is too inept. Since September to now, no action against NNPC and CBN. Madness You are right. Let's hope GMB can get everyone to play ball. |

Mynd44: The only way we can encourage them to return the money which we need more than these crazy people in jail is if we sweeten the pot.
If we don't give them the option of not doing too much time, we may never see these funds again.
As for the audit, how can we have a curate audits when NNPC and CBN did not open their books cos they were protected by the government? Okay. Your last statement on the stance of NNPC and CBN in the PwC audits, is the very reason auditing/probing institutions and individuals will achieve very little in the fight against corruption - no transparency! |

Mynd44: If we jail them, how does that tell us how much they stole? Lets be honest.
Instead of dragging years of judicial time and spending money on prosecution, let have them return their loot.
As for the amount, we do audits, if we find that under you, 50million is missing, refund it and get say 12 months. If we are yet to find that other 20million, please talk cos when we do, we will be going back to court, take that this time no bargain l get where you are coming from. Don't get me wrong. l never said we should just jail them only. l have been trying to say they must be punished according to the constitution, even after returning the money. Letting them off with light sentences after returning their loot is not going to deter anybody. As per audits, how reliable are they?? Even an independent auditing giant, such as PwC, just admitted theirs was not reliable on the missing $20 billion. |

Rapmoney: It could be a personal opinion but it wasn't generalized hastily! All right. So why conclude that Nigerian men not comfortable with high-flying women are plagued with low mentality?? People who marry into super rich families are termed gold diggers. People who refuse to marry from another ethnic group because of culture and language barriers are termed bigots These are all clichés /stereotypes |

Mynd44: Look, I don't completely agree with this but lets face it, it is the only way to get these stolen funds back. If someone steals Billion, he should not bring half and expect to walk...we can start from 900 million All right, but how do we know the exact amount looted, so as to know whether it was returned in full?? Don't forget that Abacha's monumental loot are still been uncovered EVERY year. I am sure the EFCC and ICPC combined, don't really know how much Abacha stole from this country. They only get a clue when contacted by foreign governments to that effect. |
Politics › Re: Buhari May Consider Amnesty For Corrupt Politicians – Fayemi by Defcon1(m): 10:14am On Apr 29, 2015 |
Mynd44: Well I can't argue with this though. Yes, the corruption in the GEJ administration is mind blowing but if we can get back the nation's money from them, we should be thankful and try to move on.
Now we need to read this well though, this might only apply to those who stole and will come out willingly to say "I stole" not those who admitted to stealing when they have been arrested and being tried.
Even if you have been arrested and you are being tried, if you are willing to return your look, you should get a reduced jail term, something like 9 months just so people know that you still went to jail and you have the record which also mean you can't run for any elective office again.
All in all, these are things I look forward to. But that PWC report though......my goodness All criminals should be granted reduced sentences so long as they agree to tender an unreserved apology to their victims and wear an electronic monitor I would gladly steal N1.5billion; return N500M; pocket N1 billion; get just 9 months in prison, and retire from politics. How's that for your logic? |

Vikkie14: It is easier said than done. I agree on 'forgiving' repentant sinners who are ready to turn over a new leaf. After all TO ERR IS HUMAN, TO FORGIVE IS DIVINE. l beg to disagree, Sir. This is a secular issue NOT religious. What you are suggesting would only lead to more corruption and impunity. How do you determine how much they actually looted so as to know whether they returned their loot in full?? If we go by your suggestion, other criminals would be granted pardon, so long as they tendered an unreserved apology. We all know what follows after. |

At the end of the day, you marry who you are comfortable with, with or without money. I don't see anything bad in a man feeling he would not be comfortable with a certain type of woman. ls it inferiority complex if a woman chooses not to marry a man in the entertainment industry, because they are perceived as womanizers??
It's just personal preference. l don't see any inferiority complex there at all. This piece is just personal opinion, with hasty generalization. |

mmsen: There's a lot of well-presented food that tastes dreadful, to insist on that point is odd.
To many people outside of Africa some of the soups that Nigerians eat are not appealing to look at but they taste delicious.
Presentation is a factor in a restaurant and will have some relevance for children who can be shallow when it comes to food but taste and nutrition far trump aesthetics. Well, I have been talking about the attraction/ appeal of food NOT the basic essence for it; we are obviously not on the same page. The first thing that attracts me, and I'm sure most people, to a meal is the sight/presentation, before the taste. The better the presentation, the stronger the attraction. Then taste ( which determines whether we eat the food or not) and nutrition naturally follow. Fair enough. We are all different...one man's trash is another man's treasure. Hold onto your opinion, while I hold onto mine. We are both entitled to them. |

mmsen: Food is about nutrition, not aesthetics.
Taste is definitely important as well.
What a peculiar mind you have.
P.S. These pictures were taken expressly for the purposes of the newspaper - the school food that the kids eat is presented very differently, most schools do not use prison trays for school meals. Please, don't get me wrong. Nobody is disputing the fact that the true essence of food is nutrition. l was only trying to say that the attraction in food is more about aesthetics than taste. lf you were given two versions of your favourite meal, one prepped at a roadside eatery, and the other at the Hilton, which would you rather choose despite the fact that each would satisfy your nutritional requirements? As for the pictures, l never said they were necessarily the actual meals given to kids That is why l posted the link so people would learn more. Everyone knows these pictures are for illustrative purposes. As for "prison trays", in as much as some schools don't use them, many others actually do.

gmyguy: point of correction...its not about aesthetics...its about a balanced diet that meets the daily requirements of the growing child to ensure optimal growth and development...Most people need good food when growing up during childhood which poverty impairs and we in Africa mostly only afford Carbs as proteins and veges are expensive...By the time an African gets a job and can eat balanced diet, its mostly too late to provide the essential nutrients Sir, l was just trying to show how much I appreciated the way the meals were arranged and presented. Read my second sentence in that post No one is disputing the fact that the true essence of food is nutrition |

Now, these cute brothers got together and decided to do something amazing, albeit, hilarious. They got some of their childhood photos and recreated them as adults - to hilarious, but adorable effects. They did it as a Christmas gift to their beloved mom. They had to enlist their dad's help in some enactments, though Enjoy. http://www.reshareworthy.com/brothers-recreate-old-photos/
