Does the timing of prayer really matter?? https://www.nairaland.com/2265283/does-timing-prayer-really-matter |
Back in the day
|
I have heard many people advocate praying precisely at a given time of the day. My question is, are prayers more effective at any particular time of the day, say 12 midnight or 3pm?? |
jessiecah:All right. |
jessiecah:My bad. You look so much like her, though - the eyes and the complexion. But are you a regular on LIB? |
jessiecah:Are you the same as the sweet character Cheesycar Jaybay on LIB ![]() Hope l got the spelling right. |

vheMa:This move is the actual solution ![]() Really?? Did you know this same thing was done in Liberia in the first few days of the Ebola outbreak, only for it to turn out to be Ebola virus disease...when public health specialists took over the situation. ln Liberia, they kept on doing all kinds of rituals and fetish things while the disease kept spreading and claiming lives till health experts stepped in. If not,... Our superstitious beliefs in Africa will destroy us one day if care is not taken. |
Seems nobody has any insights on this issue...many views, but no comments l posed this question to the bible scholars and insightful Christians on here, as this issue has always bothered me. It's well. |
What determines how we meet our end? https://www.nairaland.com/2261807/what-determines-how-meet-end#32816926 |
We have all read about, and even witnessed different circumstances of death. Some have died horrific, violent deaths such as, fatal road traffic accidents, plane crash, house fires, beheadings, drowning, animal attacks, murder etc However, some others have lived out their lives and died peacefully at a ripe old age, in the comforts of their beds, surrounded by loved ones...that is how we all want to go, but not everyone will have that privilege. Now, the question is what determines how we exit this world? Is it by the way we have lived our lives? l mean does God apportion death circumstances according to the way we have lived, or do we just die by chance (at random), without any form of interference from God?

Arsenate:Many former Barcelona players are now great managers. To put things in perspective, 4 managers who played for Barcelona are currently in the Champions league quarter final...and they faced off to each other on Wednesday. What a coincidence?? We had Pep Guardiola(Bayern Munich) Vs Julen Lopetegui(Porto) Luis Enrique( Barcelona) Vs Laurent Blanc(PSG).

Only in Nigeria!!! Church my middle finger! Charlatans giving Christ a bad name. |
In as much as I condemn jungle justice in the strongest terms, l still feel this officer is partly to blame of his death...lf truly he drove through the police check point when asked to stop. Military officers can be unnecessarily arrogant and sometimes abuse their power lf he was an ordinary civilian would he have driven through the police check point when asked to stop. l served in an army barracks and saw first hand the way some officers flout rules within the barracks eg.One morning, a Captain just drove past the barracks gate and stopped right smack in the middle of the road to greet another officer, a Major. Cars lined up behind blaring their horns to allow them pass. The Major just looked over his shoulders and saw that the lined- up cars were all civilian staff and NCOs.He just continued chatting with the captain without a thought, as more cars kept piling up. They were in the middle of the road for more than five minutes before they spotted a senior officer's car. That was when they packed by the roadside to continue their gist. This happens every time and lf you complain they would disgrace you and send you to the guardroom. |

So funny how some people here are foaming at the mouth, hauling insults.smh No matter who holds what position, it is only for the benefit of the very politician occupying that seat - the poor man on the street won't fare any better Did the average Yoruba man fare better under Obj than lgbos or Hausas?? Did the economy of the south west fare any better than that of other regions?? How did the average SS man fare under Jonathan? Were they better off than other ethnicities under him? How has the average Hausa man been faring after all the years of northern rule? Were the lgbos better off than other tribes under three successive senate presidents in a single dispensation? At the end of the day, political relevance in the Nigerian government all boils down to vain bragging rights and tribal supremacy...while the poor masses continue to suffer, no matter who is in power l couldn't care less who is in power as long as they do what is expected of them. |
Raymondenyi:Thank God you aren't her dad. Self righteous much. |
texazzpete:@illiad has a point. "multi tasking" has been the bane of Nigerian politicians They always try to be the jack of all trades - so as to appear to be working - only to end up accomplishing nothing. Do you doubt that Jonathan would have easily won if he had only annihilated boko haram and rescued the Chibok girls?? Any president that will bring about 24/7 uninterrupted power supply as his ONLY achievement will win re-election with landslide. Forget corruption and the economy( they are both very important, l know), but people care more about what they can directly benefit from; what they can directly feel, appreciate and relate to. |
Ilekeh:What SS/SE political naivety are you insulting? When the North voted for Buhari in in '03,'07 and '11 and he lost, did you see that as political naivety? Did you insult there political naivety? The North voted massively for their fellow northerner, Buhari, in 2015 and they are now seen as politically smart. ![]() The SS/SE did same for their fellow southerner, and are now been touted as politically naive and ethnocentric. Double standard! Smh There is also the talk of the SS/SE being politically irrelevant in the country ![]() l would love to see how those who are politically relevant will fare in the new government. And l am talking about the poor masses- the regular Joes on the street The SW are not among the First 6 citizens in the present government Did they fare any worse than other regions. No! The SW had the presidency for 8 good years. Did they fare any better than any other region. No! At the end of the day, the much touted political relevance/advantage does not benefit the poor masses...only the people in government. Every region still faces same problem of corruption, insecurity, unemployment etc - no matter who is in government So, what's the fuss about political relevance...save for vain bragging rights and tribal supremacy. |

Worldly mentality. Glorifying man instead of God. How many times did the apostles and other followers of Jesus extol His virtues to others? They only preached His message of salvation Not everyone who attends church or crusade is saved. Great majority of people are only looking for breakthrough and miracles, not salvation - which was the sole purpose of Christ's teaching. That is why people that preach the gospel of salvation as Christ did - like Gbile Akanni - will never be so rich or famous because that is not what most people want to hear. New generation pastors should preach more about salvation than prosperity Conversion achieved through promises/hopes of prosperity is not genuine, because it is conditional, and won't stand in the face of adversity. God loves us unconditionally, we can only love him on His own terms |
