Breaking: A/Court strikes out 15 charges against Saraki, orders fresh trial by CCB DECEMBER 12, 2017 ….Saraki to appeal 3 other charges to Supreme Court By Anthony Ogbonna Justice Tinuade Akomolafe-Wilson-led Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has, Tuesday, struck out 15 out of the 18-counts amended charges of false assets’ declaration brought against the President of the 8th Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki by the federal government and ordered the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCB) to conduct a fresh trial of the Senate President on three of the charges. Recall that In February 2016, the Federal Government had filed an 18-count charge bordering on false assets declaration against the senate president. The prosecution team, led by Mr Rotimi Jacobs, filed the amended charge on Feb. 8 after trial had begun. Saraki was initially standing trial on a 13-count charge of false asset declaration. The appellate court, in a unanimous judgment, held that there was no evidence to prove the 15 counts as valid charges. Recall that in a unanimous decision, the two-man panel tribunal headed by Justice Danladi Umar on June 14, had discharged and acquitted Saraki of the charges and had held that the Federal Government failed to prove essential elements of all the allegations it leveled against Saraki. Also recall that the tribunal had held that oral and documentary evidence which the federal government had adduced before it were discredited during cross-examination, saying the proof of evidence was so “manifestly unreliable that no reasonable court or tribunal could rely on it to make any conviction.” Moreover, in the appeal filed by the Federal Government against the decision of the code of conduct tribunal that the Senate President has no case to answer, the appellate court struck out the 15 counts as lacking in competence. However, Justice Tinuade Akomolafe-Wilson held that the Prosecution was able to establish a prima facie case against Saraki on counts 4, 5 and 6 bothering on the purchase of house 17 A and B at Mc Donald Street, Ikoyi, Lagos. The Judge said that there were false claims by Saraki in the declaration forms stating how the two houses in Ikoyi were acquired. However, a statement by Saraki’s aide indicates that the Senate President would be appealing the three count charges at the Supreme Court. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/12/breaking-acourt-strikes-out-15-charges-against-saraki-orders-fresh-trial-by-ccb/

docadams:My friend, PDP too get long throat. Even if you open the entire treasury for them to loot, they will still be hungry within a month once you stop that flow of funds. They eat as if there will be no tomorrow. They do not save for rainy days that is why within 2.5 years of leaving the Presidency, see them wearing different shades of shirt and trouser ![]() Even FFK pikin from soyoyo is now wearing over sized shirt and trouser called ba n be . A clear sign of fund paucity

aolawale025:Can you point to any budget that PDP adequately funded despite high oil price? Can you provide figure of the % of budget implementation under PDP and APC? |
PDP is broke, and this is how you will know. The picture says a lot about the current economic situation of PDP. PDP is owing their workers many months of salary and has laid off many of them. This prove that PDP and FG were operating joint account in the past. So when they bark like rabid aja, people should understand where their frustration is coming from PDP for the 1st time had a convention without Asoebi. Alhaji Sule Lamido had to visit his wardrobe of 5yrs ago to dig out his buried 2012 Asoebi

Why FG hasn’t prosecuted some treasury looters – Osinbajo Published December 11, 2017 Okechukwu Nnodim, Abuja Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday said a couple of “strategic advice” from independent sources, anti-corruption committees and special panels set up for the recovery of assets that were allegedly looted by previous government officials, had prevented the current administration from going forward with its desire to prosecute the looters. He disclosed this at the 2017 celebration of the International Anti-corruption Day organised by the Inter-agency Task Team in Abuja. He also stated that the government had succeeded in weeding out 50,000 ghost workers from its payroll in the last two years, while the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had charged 17 suspects to court for allegedly contributing to the crime. The vice-president, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Rule of Law, Mr. Akingbolahan Adeniran, however explained that many assets were being recovered from those who stole from government. He said, “The administration has relied a lot on strategic advice, looking at the fight against corruption from a broad perspective, and basically relying on independent advice in order to move forward in fighting corruption. “It is focused a lot on prevention, and this is one aspect that a lot of people do not talk about so much. Then enforcement, this is the key aspect of the fight against corruption, there has to be accountability for those who basically violate the law. “Then asset recovery, which is a key element of the fight against corruption. As regards assets recovery, where there has been no conviction, it is because of the strategic advice that we were given.” Osinbajo also said the government had approved a National Anti-corruption Strategy, with which it would engage all strata of the Nigerian society in the fight against corruption. http://punchng.com/why-fg-hasnt-prosecuted-some-treasury-looters-osinbajo/ |

EFCC To Appeal Court Ruling Dismissing Charges Against Justice Nganjiwa EFCC To Appeal Court Ruling Dismissing Charges Against Justice Nganjiwa The Commission considers the ruling a dangerous precedent that has no basis in law and, is confident that the Supreme Court will upturn the judgment. BY ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL CRIMES COMMISSION (EFCC)DEC 11, 2017 The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is to appeal against the ruling of the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal, which today held that the agency lacked powers to investigate or prosecute serving judicial officials except where such officers have been dismissed by the National Judicial Council. The Commission considers the ruling a dangerous precedent that has no basis in law and, is confident that the Supreme Court will upturn the judgment. "Criminal trial takes precedence over administrative procedures and it is strange that the Court of Appeal wants to put the cart before the horse. This is ridiculous! The appellate court simply wants to confer immunity on public officers from prosecution for corruption, it will not stand." http://saharareporters.com/2017/12/11/efcc-appeal-court-ruling-dismissing-charges-against-justice-nganjiwa https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/252164-just-court-appeal-ruling-dangerous-ridiculous-efcc-says-vows-appeal.html https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/252123-efcc-lacks-powers-to-prosecute-serving-judges-court-of-appeal-rules.html |

They siddon there a minority tribe, Ijaw becomes the Presiednt while the Igbos continue to sing Marginaliation. The Igbos might not get the Presidency for the next 50 years. |
A budget of 70% capital is one targeted at development. When will Nigeria catch up? A result of 18 years of progressive Govt, starting from Tinubu in 1999. Compare that with 10% of Capital budget under PDP . Now under an APC Govt, it is 30% Capital with plan to increase. 18 Years of APC leadership will see Nigeria closing the gap with Lagos state. |
Oma307:Can you recollect when the budget was approved? The budget runs its 1 year course from the date it was approved. Criticism is good, but have all your facts. |
