obisite: Pls I need help... One,,, I have to keep bending/squiz the edge of the charging pin here n there before my laptop start charging,,... TWO:- IF I plug it, I can't do anything,, the pointer don't move while touching the touch pad, if I unplug it,,, the laptop goes off, or stays 5-10mins and goes off... How do I go about it,,,, changing battery and charging point or battery and charger? Which one is faulty among the two? It seems you have an HP or Dell Laptop ? The DC Jack or the Power jack is faulty. The battery doesn't not hold charge, you probably need a new battery. Fix the two faults and then use google to research advanced power by right clicking on the battery icon and see all the box regarding mouse make sure is set properly. I'm unable to tell precisely what it should be there as I'm using a Linux. However, you can get back to us once you fix the Dc jack and the battery then we would take it from there. I don't live in Nigeria, therefore look for adetwin on this forum, h/she would offer a repair. Good luck |

SkydaDGreat: Hello all, i just recently encountered a problem with my asus k43u laptop, i woke it up from hibernation yesterday, it came on, i put in my password, desktop displayed. It was looking fyn, then i went outside to pack my close outside, when i came back my laptop screen was completly black with a message like ''reboot and select proper boot media and press a key'' the message was multiple on the screen and its was blinking. I pressed one key and the blinking stopped. I pressed the power button and it immediatly shut down which was very unusal. I started the laptop again, and it showed me on message after the asus logo to select the boot media, i think i selected one of them because they were two, on ended with ram, while the other had some numbers and letters as it name e.g st903145s66. Then it showed the windows logo, after with a black screen came up, i waited for about 5 minutes or xo before i could eventually log in. And i when i logged in discovered the laptop was extremely slow, it takes minutes form programs to open, and even when they open they dont respond or just hang, at times the thing will just hang. I decide to scan with avast but the first messagae i got was that avast is noy running in background or xo and no endpoints or something like that. Please i want you all to help me solve this problem. Thank you. I think your laptop was installed with a 2gb ram. Do you have norton antivirus installed ? Are you installing windows updates ? Where did you placed the laptop, i.e. bed/desk ? Have you serviced the laptop before, i.e. to clean the fan and apply a fresh artic silver thermal paste so as to help cool the cpu and other internal components ? The average Nigeria temperature is between 28 and 42 degree Celsius. Therefore, you need to clean the fan and apply a fresh thermal paste. If you have a virus, I'd suggest to look for adetwin on this forum for further help Last resort is to reformat the laptop, is entirely up to you. |

bigt2: you should have gotten an external or additional source of light of which you will be sure that it wont trip and jumble things up. you failed to act according to instructions and now you are exposed to facing the tide of either changing your BIOS chip, a hardware solution, or the motherboard, or sell it as scrap, or any other solution i personally haven't known about. Kindly state the make and model of your laptop for more evaluation. Good luck. I like that, nice1 bigt2. Moreover,@user assumed your computer bios needs charging. If the bios is integrated to the motherboard, you need to change the motherboard. |

Epaul: Thanks sir. Did the latter and it came up. But there is a little problem. My cousin, at first, had mistakenly removed the system-disk confusing it for the RAM. He detached it completely from the system(so much for our naivety). Here is what's displaying on the monitor "non-system disk or disk error. Replace and strike any key when ready" what can we do to effect repair? As to it's specs. Here is a bit of what i can lay my fingers on: LAPTOP - HP 625 Windows - window 7 RAM - 2GB Operating system - Intel (lol. I'm clearly off the boat with regards to computer components.) Given my colleague's advice, could you please restart the machine and keep pressing f10 for bios and run me an hard drive short test. It would be advisable to plug in your charger to prevent unexpected shutdown. |

Abdujapha: Hi bigt2 My laptop acer aspire one D257 doesn't come on except for the back light. Our office I.T guy looked at it and said the hard disk is dead because the OS wasn't genuine.(I once changed the OS from windows 7 starter to windows 7 pro and after a while I was getting prompts on the OS not being genuine) Please do you have an idea how much it would cost to replace the hard disk and reinstall a genuine Windows 7 starter and would the RAM be affected by this also? Thanks. bigt2: 1) Click on Start. Go to Run. Users running Windows 8, Windows 7 or Vista, go to Search . 2) Type gpedit.msc and press Enter. 3) Navigate to User Configuration/ Administrative Templates / System. 4) In the work area on the right side, double click on " Prevent access to the command prompt". 5) In the popup dialog, encircle Disabled and click OK. 6) You should be able to immediately use the command prompt. If you still cannot access it, restart your computer. Look on this forum for adetwin h/she would be able to provide repairs and charge for his service. I am sure adetwin would run windows genuine test after installation. Good luck |

bigt2: put the laptop in an air tight nylon. Wrap it firmly to the extent that air will not enter or escape through the charging port. Plug in the charger and switch it on. Leave it like that till it switches off by itself. After this, the graphics panel detached through heat must have been reflowed. G. Luck. It works most of the time for the hp dv/nvidia series of laptops (just a temp fix). I don't think there are reflow machines around nigeria, are they? |

Niceone bigt2, could the user make sure the laptop is not interrupted during checkdisk. This to prevents hard drive from errors and corruptions. |

There are software out there but be careful ! If you contact hp helpline they may be of help by offering a backdoor password, but doubt it. |

I've removed the battery, put it on again yet it shows the same thing. HP 250. Collinz2: it seem u have a lot of undating installing. Jst allow it to do its thing. To install update in Nigeria, you need to prepare by buying lots of internet top ups and fill your generator. In addition the computer failed to restart the because you have interrupted the process. It should have displayed failure configuring Windows updates. In practice, windows update can take a whole day. You need a technician to help you out. |

bigt2: you are using a fake charger which fails to match the OEM rating either on wattage, voltage, or both . you need to try an original charger from a replica of your laptop to ascertain this. If it works perfectly after taking the recommended step , then you need to get an original spare before it spoils your trackpad and/or battery (that is if they aren't spoilt before) @User you can also download hp battery test to test the charger. |

bigt2: what is the name of the loader in question? Okay, fine then run thee command prompt as an administrator ( i guess you know how to do that); type without quotes "SLMGR -REARM" and press Enter. reboot your computer and download Removewatt (try and google that). then follow the software instructions. Goodluck! I think the software licencing manager would give the user few days before prompt to install genuine windows. If you download security essential, it would detect and flag it up. |
