How do you mean by it wasn't coming up, i.e. no display, displayed
but with error message. Had you experienced this problem before?

Finally, restart the laptop with your charger plugged to mains; then
restart the laptop and keep pressing f2 for bios. Look for diagnostic
or power management and check the status of your battery.
Are you running Windows 7 or windows 10? Hold down the windows key
letter R and type in sigverif then press enter and check it signature authenticity

Turning off windows update expose your computer to unwanted malwares and virus.
If it is windows 10 is okay to turn off because windows 10 is secure without an antivirus

*firefox and chrome as prefered browser
*i don't think it has anything to do with what i am downloading
*it is a uk used pc,started using it about 2 weeks ago don't know anything about wireless card

If you use a 3g internet dongle, it is normal to experience slow connection.
If you're in dobuts about the cafe, speak to the cafe owner to clarify their
connection speed. Any laptop doesnt matter where it from has a wireless connection
to connect to connect to a fast broadband. Your laptop connect to the hardware
internet speed because thats the way it is. If you're in the UK or anywhere in
nigeria with mega connection, you"ll be able to tell the difference.

Please follow horllamy's advice, and also check that

you are not using XP or Vista web browser that is oudated.

Similarly, check on the far right that your computer clock and date are

up to date. Do you have norton or any other anti virus installed ?

I googled the problem and I saw that it was a minor thing to fix. I was required use a bootable flash to solve the problem.

The main problem now is that the system can't boot from flash nor cd-rom. I've played around with the BIOS setup and I couldn't still boot from external storage

i've tried checking the sound video game controllers buh i did not uninstall the items there. Ive IDT HD SPEAKERS their buh hope uninstalling is what you wanted to say.

Uninstall them and restart the computer; it would automatically install everything.

please visit Hp website with the make and model and
select your operating type; then look for diagnostics or solutions
regarding your mouse. An update or a setting could be preventing it from working.

I've cleaned the touch pad several times to be sure there's no dirt/liquid on it, yet the problem persists.

I can use a USB mouse with or without a charger. But I can't use my touchpad with and without a charger.

The problem started sometime last year, it stopped early this year and continued again Two months ago (now more severe) and it's still on.

This has to be the best reply have ever read on nairaland; you answered all questions correctly !

Could you tell us the laptop model number please, this can be found

my hp laptop doesnt sound properly. It makes a screechyn sound like their is sumfyn blocking the speaker and headset does nt work either. U wnt even know it is sounding unless you move the laptop close to your ear.

maybe ur speaker is faulty, to conclude on that ls get a gud headset to test the sound

You could also use google to find out how to get to device manager and
look for sound video game controllers and click the + then right click to
uninstall each items underneath sound video game controllers then restart
the laptop to test.

Check to make sure your touchpad is on with an fn+f ? key.
Use google to find out which of the keys to press with fn.

Use google to research how to get to device manager and
see if there are any yellow signs. Any dirts or liquids on the touchpad ?

Can you use a usb mouse to navigate ?

Can you use the mouse with or without the charger ?

When was the last time it works ?

I guessed you installed the trial/test it version of windows 10.
I would advice you to install all windows update and if your
computer is compatible, you'd get a message to reserve your copy.
A day or two search for windows updates and your copy would be
there to download. I have installed windows 10 and knew that one must

I bought my hp 15 brand new with a year warranty at computer village in lagos january dis year with no issues, but around june it started developing problems like failure to boot and it later eventually not coming up. I took it back to where i bought it and they returned it back for repair at hp store. I collected it back after a week in perfect condition and i was informed that they eventually changed the motherboard, and it has been functioning well since then. But it developed that same issue again this morning, pls advice me on what next to do because i don't know maybe they will stil service it for free. And I'm actually living in ibadan, considering the transport fare. Thanks in advance.

Go to control panel or use google to find out how to and look for connect projector on the far left. There should be options to duplicate both display on the laptop and the projector. If no joy look on the keyboard top row for f8 or f5 not sure the key should have a monitor symbol or similar

If you can use youtube Or google to find out how you can remove and reinsert the ram. Then try powering on, if no joy try the ATX reset again. If no joy look for adetwin or onegig on this forum for hardware repairs

When the light was restored I switched on the system. It showed waiting...then no signal....(which is the normal stuff it shows) then the screen just went blank. I waited for a while but it still didn't boot. Please what could be the cause and the possible solution.

ATX Reset
If you have had any issues with you computer and phoned the help line number one of the common things they will ask you to do is an ATX reset, Basically this just resets the power supply in your computer and in most cases can solve some power issues.

Probability:60/70

How to perform an ATX reset:

Disconnect the power from your computer.
If possible remove the battery and external devices.
Hold the power button for about 15 seconds
Put the battery back in the computer
Reconnect the power
Press the power button to turn on your computer

If this does not solve the power issue it may be the hardware its self which is faulty and will need repairing or replacing.
