thank you boss. following your instruction of running the battery down before plugin the charge again, i no longer have the problem pf plugged in not charging. the only issue is now the system hilbernates without warning at 30-40% battery level. and this problrm of hilbrntn started after updating my bios, could updating my bios be the caused? anyway, i havent perform the battery test because of school. but will get back to you whwn i do it tomorrow

I was surprised to find out you had updated the bios, I wouldn't have because bios update is always the last resort.
How did you knew the bios need updating ? Okay user Google to disable hibernate. I think it is powercfg- off just Google it.

This must be a BIOS error, have you tried to remove the battery, unplug the system and press the power button for 35 seconds?

1st

Could answer bigt2 question please. In addition, could you restart keep pressing f10 for bios/UEFI.
and disable secureboot and enable legacy boot mode to get it to run. if no joy please change back to what it
was and make sure you save and exit.

2nd

make sure no cd or dvd in your computer

Also make sure the boot order is set to hard drive and not floppy

sure its not the only solution but for those who have important files in their external drive, they won't want to risk inserting it to the infected system.some virus can hide even if scanned with antivirus. For this reason, one has to properly scan the pc over and over again to avoid spreading of the virus to their external drive.like me in particular, ones i notice an unusual virus, i will format asap because i value what is inside my external drive than inside the pc since i have back up

did he ask if the man has a back up? Did he attempt to tackle the problem? Capital NO! This said, i still hold and stress the fact that formatting should be the last resort. I'm not measuring shoulders with any one.

I usually scan my PC with a powerful anti virus, ccleaner to name a few. I would not reformat my laptop for that reason
unless it is a boot sector virus that cannot be removed or a corrupt registry H key local machine to name a few. There is no
wrong or right answer, it is entirely up to each individuals. However, If a business customer complained of a virus we act quickly to
prevent it from spreading to the delicate host server. In addition, I would in practice clean the infected laptop because customers like
long term fix and not short term.

then charge to 100. From now on

If no joy, go to bios by pressing f10 on startup then you'd see bios scrool down to power management
and check the status of the battery. this is possible on a dell laptop. if it is hp googl hp battery test and test the battery

Try f10 instead of f2 and follow previous steps to download hp battery test or search for it from your start menu

If the charge is up to 10%-then go to the website of the manufacturer like Dell.com or HP.com -type in the model number of the laptop like HP Pavilion dv4-then download the BIOS driver. To download and update BIOS-your battery must be at least 10% and must be on charger.
That is one possible solution.
Other issue could be that the battery has been "misused". Many laptop users misuse their batteries. Like charging it to 100% and leaving it unused for several weeks or constantly allowing it to go to zero and go off amongst other things. If battery is defective-you have to buy another one or if you know how-open up the battery and change the cells.

If no joy restart and keep pressing f8 you'd see advanced boot option select repair your computer

I take it your pc is all in one ?

please check there is no cd in the computer.

if no joy restart and keep pressing f10 for bios, you'd see a blue screen press f9 or any other key to
load setup default then press f10 or any other key to save and exit then see if it would boot into windows.

Step 2
Could you disconnect everything at the back of the computer.

shut down the computer and disconnect all external devices including the keyboard, mouse and USB devices.

Unplug the power cord.

Press the computer Power button and hold it for at least 30 seconds.

Reconnect the power cord but do not reconnect the external devices yet.

Turn on your computer and see if it boots normally. If it does, shut it down,
reconnect the external devices and turn it back on.

and the screen. In the UK (Edinburgh) the maximum have ever charged was 15K so in nigeria
12K is a good price. I would recommed you do it because the screen will have another lamp insidde that
