As suggested by hollarmy, it may be a hardware problem. Even so, could you restart the
laptop please and keep pressing f10 for bios, a blue screen should appear. Then, use your arrow
key to navigate to diagnostics and run me an hard drive short test. Is the fan spinning ? could you smell burnt from the
air vents? any CD DVD in the disk drive. What's the make and model number and operating system type,
for example, hp 530 windows vista basic. Moreover, I could have ask you to run a memory test on the same screen.
However, I'm not sure if you would have enough nepa light or generator power.

I have the same issue here but this is after I upgraded to windows 10, I use a hp 655 AMD fan is working fine. It cracks when playing high quality video like avi but the audio is good. And plays low MP4 very well

I suggest you to disable all enhancements in Speakers properties and check. Refer the steps below:
Press Windows key + X.
Click on Control Panel.
Double-Click on the Sound Icon and click on Speakers.
Click on Properties.
Click on Enhancements Tab.
Now click "Disable All Sound Effects"
Click OK and check if issue persists.
If issue still persists, as a workaround, I suggest you to Uninstall and reinstall the Sound drivers in Compatibility mode and check if it works for you. Refer to the steps below:
Follow the steps to uninstall the Sound driver:
Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
Expand ‘Sound Video and Game Controllers’.
Right-click on the Sound device listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.

Select the option to Delete driver software.
Restart the computer after its uninstalled.
Now download the drivers the manufacturer website and install it in Windows 8.1 compatibility mode. Follow the steps provided below to install the drivers in compatibility mode:
Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.
Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for “and select Windows 8.1 operating system from the drop down.

Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

Try ATX resetting. Remove the battery and power cord from your laptop.
Press the power button and hold for 15 seconds(without any power source connected).
Plug in only the power cord, leaving the battery out of the laptop. Power on the laptop
then shut down and reinsert the battery then power on and use it as normal

Thanks for the above. I would advise you to carry out the followings.

Step 1

Disconnect all external devices including keyboard and mouse
and unplug the power adapter from the notebook.

Step 2

Remove the battery from the notebook by following the instructions found in
its user manual and hold the "Power" button for at least 15 seconds.

Step 3

Reconnect the power adapter to your notebook but do not reconnect the
external devices yet. Turn your notebook on and see if the power LED lights up.
If it does, test if the notebook boots normally.

In addition: Connect the charger to the laptop only. don't plug it to power source.
Wiggle the charger from top to bottom , left to right and feel for loose connections.
If you feel any loose connections, it may be a dc jack problem. Moreover, borrow
another charger and test it. It could well be your charger is at fault. Moreover, ensure
your laptop is connected to a well lilt power source, i.e. not low current. I guess you have been
generator to charge it ?

Hello Guys, So my laptop has been extremely slow and almost impossible to use of recent, i have restored it severally to factory settings, yet it still has the same problem.

I tried running a disk check, it gets to a certain point and just remains there, i actually left it for like 2 days, yet it didnt progress.

I suspect that the hard drive is bad, i just need confirmation from the gurus here.

It originally came with windows 7, i upgraded to 8, and 10 respectively over the years (Been using it since 2013). The problem started while i was on windows 10, although i have restored it back to windows 7, all in a bid to fix it.

If no joy, please restart the laptop by pressing f10 non stop until you see a bios screen. Use your arrow key to naviagte to

Have you made any changes to the bios section of the computer ? in other words, have you adjusted any settings on the system that might have prevent the system from booting. Has it been in for repairs? What's the make and model of your computer ? if the same problem persist, keep pressing f8 for advance boot option and select repair automatically and follow on screen instructions. Check your system for any device such as USB stick,sd card, printer and the likes.

Please i really need help. my Lenovo ideapad 100 crashed early last year, it wasn't even up to two months since I bought it on Konga. I was just listening to music and it went off, when I turn it on the power light comes on and blinks for a while before going off but the system doesn't come on. It still charges but the battery keeps running down. Lenovo has no outlet close to me so i couldn't return the system and the time for returns given by konga had expired. I've been taking it for repairs and each time they'll ask me to pay money before repairs or give them money to buy the faulty part but they end up not fixing it. I'm guessed that your laptop has AMD, ATI or NVIDIA video graphics. Did you bought it brand new ? How long have you had the laptop? Does it has a warranty ? I would advice you to buy HP with Intel CPU and video graphics. Avoid NVidia and AMD series video graphics. HP has repair outlets in Lagos and beyond. In Nigeria, before you do anything, always enquire about outlets and parts availability prior to parting with your money. Moreover, it could be that your laptop has overheated; hence the laptop went off to prevent further damage.

It is unprofessional and a technical bluff to advice someone who is not trained to disassemble laptop devices to do so by themselves. Of course you should know better that an accidental pulling-off of a motherboard chip can put paid to the life of the laptop.

Even at times , trained engineers get into trouble just by disassemblying a laptop and coupling it back only to find out it has developed more issues.
So let's be careful on the advice we give clients here .

Taking out the fan is probably one of easiest replacements to undertake.
If he feels it's too technical, he would seek professional advice..............
If he has no clue, YouTube videos are plentiful to teach and direct...............

It is a 50/50 situation. I wouldn't advice someone to open his or her laptop; the minium i
can ask a user to do is open the memory or hard drive compartent (if within reach). If anything goes wrong
such as no display, no power and so on. The user will blame the technician. Although the user cant
get the technician because all we do here is give advice and no one can physically blame us. However,
I will feel bad if something like that happen. We are all different and unique. To protect yourself, it would
be better to ask the user to take it to a technician.

Set to ahci and not ide or ufi. Alternatively you could do a system restore
If you keep pressing f8 until advance option comes up and select safe mode
To restore. Jut Google system restore if in doubts

A man with a big heart has narrated how he helped a mentally unstable lady who was roaming the streets of Abuja. Ray Ugba Morphy and his colleagues mobilized to help admit the lady in a psychiatric hospital -with the man (Ray) registered as her next of kin. Her pictures were shared online to help locate her people.

On Monday, 28th November, at about 5pm, at Asokoro, in Abuja, I saw just by Ecowas building, a young woman of about 26 years roaming the streets and speaking to herself. She was obviously unwell, probably newly mad. Her clothes were just dirty, not torn yet, she had an afro hairdo, and she had a bag and she looked forlon and rather sad!

In that girl, a saw a soul crying for help. She could be my sister, your sister or even anyone's daughter. So I approached her. She spoke well, an evidence of good breeding. But then after being initially friendly, she became very hostile when I began to probe her. My intention was to see if i could get info to enable me reach her people. She wouldn't or couldn't tell. All she would say is that she is from London and her name, Chika. Of course, this information from her, may or may not be true.

So I left her, as it was getting late. So on Tuesday, early in the morning, I mobilised my staff and we got cracking. Some went in search for her on the streets while I went online in search of a psychiatric hospital or unit. We drew a blank. But luckily after physical visits to all government hospitals in Abuja, we finally found one at Karu.

Meanwhile those searching the streets for her could only locate her at about 4pm in the evening being that she is mobile and ambulatory.

To cut a long story short, I can now report that the lady in this pix is now (Tuesday 29/11/2016) safely admitted in a psychiatric hospital. It wasn't easy but she has been admitted with me registered as her next of kin. And she is responding to treatment. She is simply suffering from treatable mental illness and no one should be abandoned the way our society seems to abandon the mentally ill. Sure, it cost me time and money, but it is worth every bit of it.

We still have not been able to get any information from her regarding her family or her people. So please, contact me via inbox if you know her.

Meanwhile, can we all share very widely until someone can identify her and come for her. It is very likely that her people are also searching for her.

I can see that windows 8.1 was the original operating system, correct ?

Okay, type in flight mode in your windows start box in front of you and click on flight mode
settings. Secondly turn off flight mode then try turning on wifi using f12 and see if it would
affect the keyboard.

I take it that when you pressed f12, you're trying to activate your wireless ?

You do these to save battery or to prevent unwanted guest to your network ?

Well, I use a toshiba R500 and I pressed f12 and got the message that flight mode

on and vice versa for off. The keyboard still works, however, I would expect the internet.

I had a look at your laptop manual and found that "f12 Turns the wireless feature on or off.

NOTE: A wireless network must be set up before a wireless connection is possible.

It doesnt mention anything about flight mode.

Have you installed keyboard software othan the dafualt one that came with the machine ?

When was the last time it worked ? You could use google to find out how to get to safe mode and
do s system restore to a time it works.

try testing flight mode and the keyboard. I'm not sure if it willl work there. It worth a try.



Last resort: Visit hp website for your specific model and search for help and support or contact
hp themselve.

Please follow horllamy's advice. In the meanwhile, please
connect the charger to the laptop and to the mains.
Please make sure your wall socket is working, while your charger is
plugged in please wiggle the charger left to right, up and down, side to side
and keep an eye on the laptop LED power light. Did you saw a lights ? if you did, an
engineer like hollarmy might help solder the dc jack or a usb attached dc jack to the
laptop. It is a delicate job that might cost a fraction or more. Please enquire from horllamy
adetwin and the likes. If you look at past discussions on computer section, you would find adetwin.
