We should vote Mr Atiku abi. Laughable. Mr Tinubu is doing a great job. He has reset our economy. Now, we are ready to reach for the sky. Corrosive subsidy is gone, gone, gone. Local government autonomy is around the corner. Imports have gone down drastically. Non oil exports have gone up drastically Big infrastructure development is going on at record pace. New projects are announced almost everyday. Billions of dollars of new foreign investment. Nigerian stock market is booming like hell. Nigerian companies are announcing blockbuster profits. The naira is stabilising. Food prices are coming down. Regional administration (not to be confused with government) is taking shape. All of the above and more in less than 2 years. To cap it off, Nigeria has regained its position as Africa's largest economy. The worst of the tough times is behind us. Nigeria is marching forward towards becoming a $1 trillion economy. In my book, and I am not interested in arguing with anyone, this is the best President/leader Nigeria has had since independence. The 70 something year old man is working non-stop, like an ever-ready battery, not listening or pandering to noise. Just doing his best. I doff my hat, Mr Tinubu. |
This is just a tip of what is going to be a long term problem. There are tens of millions of uneducated, and unemployable young men all over the far North who have next to no hope of surviving without resorting to criminal activities. Inevitably, many of these people will move South and create havoc. Amotekun will not even be able to catch 1% of them. I fear for Southerners and middlebelters in the years and decades to come. The Northern leaders have created a monster. |
Fantastic |
Hungerbadoo:If he crosses a line of inciting violence, he can be arrested and charged. At this point, he hasn't crossed that line. |
Shattuck:So, it wasn't even Mr Ribadu himself, but people claiming to represent him? In that case, it would be difficult to pin the request on Mr Ribadu, unless a member of his alleged team comes out to confirm the request indeed came from Mr Ribadu. Without that corroboration, we can't be sure whether: 1. the team made the request, and 2. Mr Ribadu instructed them to make the request. |
ideatoprince18:There is nothing nepotistic here. By merit, within Nigeria, Lagos as the busiest maritime area is the most suitable location for such international maritime organisation. Don't forget that along side Lagos, Accra, Abidjan, Dakar (Senegal) will likely compete for this organisation. Port Harcourt, Calabar, Warri, Uyo etc are not in the same class as those West African Port cities. They will lose easily. In this sort of international contest, the President has to put Nigeria's best foot forward, and that is Lagos. Lagos is not even guaranteed to win. Many countries may prefer Accra (more central in the West African region) , or Abidjan which is more livable than Lagos. |
Which high-ranking government official will want to collect bribe and feel the need to tell you he needs the bribe for his presidential aspirations come 2027. If an NSA wants a bribe, why does he need to mention what he needs the bribe for ![]() The Indian man is telling porkies. |
A person appearing before a court cannot dictate which judge sits on his case. If this is allowed, the court system around the country will collapse as parties to cases will find all manner of reasons for not wanting a particular judge to sit on their case. If Mr Kanu believes the process of bringing Justice Nyako back into his case is improper, then that is a point he will be able to raise on appeal to the Court of Appeal later. But he must first subject himself to the hearing of his case by Justice Nyanko. As things stand now, and unless the Judicial hierachy change their mind and allocate the case to another Judge, Mr Kanu's case will remain unheard indefinitely. Who loses? |
Projects every where. Imagine if this continues for another 6 years. Yet some people want a change in 2027 so that a new President with a completely different agenda will abandon all these fantastic projects and set us back another 10 - 20 years. You want a new President because the price of garri was cheaper under Mr Jonathan and Yaradua ![]() As if the price of any product sold in the USA, UK, Germany or any country in the world has remained the same in the past 5 years. |
This is regional administration taking shape. If the President is re-elected, and the economy continues to improve, in about 4 years time, I can imagine the President wanting several federal government responsibilities delegated to regional Commissions. If each regional commission can be getting N1 trillion subvention per year in 4 years time, and more in future years, that will transform them into administrative power houses. The management of all existing federal roads within their respective regions can be handed over to them. Agricultural development, housing etc, even health can be handed over to them. The federal government should focus on defense, foreign affairs, internal affairs (interior), and national economy. If Mr Tinubu can deliver all these before he leaves government, thereby reducing the focus on the centre, he would have delivered an acceptable form of regional administration without the North being able to block it. |
The intro is not biased. The APC man should have simply responded to the issues. I am not a member of any party, but even I can reel off the top of my head at least 20 positive things this government has done to move the country forward. Many of these people fight tooth and nail for a position. The get the position, but turn out not to be effective. |
1000% yes. The man saved this country from a calamitous economic destruction. If naira can get to around N1200 six months to the next election, that will have a significant effect on the price of goods, including petrol. Petrol at around N700 is an election winner, since the President will be able to campaign that more reduction will happen if he wins a 2nd term. |
A classless, uncivilised behaviour. |
These people are already very rich. What do they need more and more money for. Qualified members of the public who are not connected rarely get into positions like these. They're left to carry their certificates up an down with no hope. |
MzeeMachiavelli:25% shareholding by the government. 25% shareholding that can be bought by members of the public. That's 50% shareholding to be held by citizens. Or is the government's shareholding not for the people ![]() You need to calm down. |
Blazetrailer:The news report didn't say any where that the government will not follow due process. Afterall, we have seen the National Assembly pass bills in 2 - 3 weeks. So calm down. |
A mining development bank established with 100% government money and based in Abuja will be a mistake. Politics and government fraud will render it ineffectual. Nigerians don't pay back government loans. The bank should be set up in partnership with the commercial banks with the government owning not more than 25% shareholding and the remaining 75% owned by a consortium of commercial banks. The bank should be managed entirely by the private sector and be based in Lagos, the Premier League of banking, so it can compete for capital in the most competitive banking market in the country. That will make the bank sharper. Basing the HQ in Abuja, a banking 2nd division, will not help that bank. |
Auchi and Igarra axis are not South South? These are majority Muslim towns in Edo State. How about traditional worshippers. There's no such thing as a homogeneous Christian region anywhere in the South. |
Mr El Rufai can be sued for sharing a video making false and maligning claim against someone. Nothing happened in Chicago to justify calling the President a drug lord, and sharing such video is very serious. I think some of these people are intentionally being provocative. They want to be arrested so they can scream to the high heavens that they're being persecuted. They just want free publicity. |
Penguin2:That'll mean the North has to trust that Mr Obi will only spend 4 years. With their experience with Mr Jonathan, they are unlikely to invest such level of trust in any Southerner. The North is clearly in a quandary. A candidate from the far North is unlikely to win. Yet, they can't throw their weight behind a Southerner because of the fear of that individual spending 2 terms thus keeping the North away from power until 2035. |
Racoon:Highly unlikely that combination will win. 2 Southerners as President and Vice? |
givedemwotowoto:No, he won't. The current CBN has actually done a great job. It is easy to appear to be a great CBN Governor when the economy is doing relatively well, ala Mr Soludo, and Mr Sanusi. Neither of those 2 faced the kind of existential economic crisis that the current CBN Governor was faced with when he came into the position. If you look back at what the country faced this time last year, and the relative stability that we are beginning to see in the economy, you will appreciate the great job that the CBN Governor has done. 4 years ago, Turkey was in a similar terrible economic situation, and they went through 4 different central bank Governors with 2 years, and till today, the Turkish currency has still not recovered. Nigeria's CBN Governor deserves commendation. |
I struggle to see which opposition pairing and permutation can defeat the President. 1. Mr Atiku doesn't appear willing to step aside, yet, most Southerners and middlebelters are not ready to vote another Northerner so soon after Mr Buhari. 2) If Mr Atiku and Mr Obi decides to join forces on the same ticket, which party will they use? PDP is not certain. If they form an entirely new party, and they don't win, Mr Obi will be the biggest loser, as he will then have been in 4 different parties. That's not a good look. 3) If Mr Obi and Atiku contest separately, we'll probably end up with a result similar to the one we had in 2023. 4) There is no proof yet that the far North will vote for any ticket with Mr Obi in it, whether as President or Vice President. Mr Obi got so few votes in that part of the country in 2023 that it is difficult to see how that will change in 2027. ) If you throw Mr Adesina in the mix, and he too contests under a different party, that fractionalisation of the opposition will only favour the incumbent. Anyway, as someone famously said, a week is a long time in politics. With 2027 still 2 years away, a lot can still change. Who knows. |
Mr Adesina will get far fewer votes than Mr Obi. He doesn't have name recognition on the street. Only educated and people on social media know him, and these are not the real voters. He won't win a single State. |
A subservient and cowed lawyer will not be able to give a true and honest professional advise to his client. The way Mr Kanu smacked his lawyer to shut him up tells you everything about how the legal profession in this country has fallen so low. Under normal circumstances, the lawyer involved would withraw his services and one would expect the NBA to issue a statement denouncing such behaviour from a client. But then again, the circumstances in Nigeria are not normal, so the NBA will most likely keep mute, and the lawyer will quietly accept his humiliation. We move, I guess. No need wasting one's time on most things concerning Nigeria. |
seunmsg:Agree. Nigeria is nobody's mate on this continent. |
True. With Dangote, Port Harcourt and Warri refineries producing, and big companies declaring unprecedented profits (even allowing for naira devaluation), the various infrastructural projects and property developments going on not just in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt but also in several cities and towns up and down the country, I have often wandered how any other country in Africa can have a bigger economy than Nigeria. An economy of 220 million people is no beans. That makes Nigeria the 7th or 8th most populous country in the world. South Africa can't buy that type of population in any market. If the economy keeps improving, and can reach 6% annual growth rate within the next 3years, within 10 years, the entire economy of South Africa will only be slightly bigger that the economy of the South West. Nigeria is big and mighty. We just need to sort out our economy, governance, and attitude. |
bassdow:I meant Arise TV on YouTube. I don't even know how to operate a regular TV anymore. Haven't watched for a long time. |
I change channels any time I see him on TV/ YouTube. I didn't know others have realised his constant criticism of anything to do with the government, government refineries,,crude oil production.etc If crude oil production increases, he will criticise. Government approves sale of crude oil in naira, he will find a way to bring negativity. Government refineries are working nko, this guy will still find a way to criticise. I have never seen anything like it ![]() Anytime Arise TV viewership is going low, they'll quickly bring him on so he can criticise something/anything in order to keep their usual viewers happy. |
anonimi:Economic records of Mr Jonathan. What economic record? Almost certainly the most ineffectual leader since 1999. During his time, Nigeria earned the most revenue from oil in its history, yet a few months to the end of his administration, Mrs Okonjoeweala declared all the money was gone and she resorted to borrowing to pay the salaries of federal civil servants. All the record revenue was stolen or frittered away. Mrs Deziani even helped herself with over 2 billion dollars. Yet, it is the man under which all these happened that you want to bring back ![]() Are you deluded. |
arsenal33:Exactly. Neither Mr Obi or Atiku can promise that and remain credible. Afterall, they both promised to remove subsidy at the last election. |
madridguy:Which economic policies do you want him to review. |
