60km per hour can feel like a lot of speed to an elderly person. Each time you go over a bump or pothole, their bodies probably feel it like 3 or 4 times as much a young person's body. One has to be considerate and patient with them. I will never talk to my parents that way. That's humiliation. I pray never to ever get to that point. Even when I think they're wrong, I say my bit respectfully and quietly try and change the topic ![]() |
Beautiful. Nigeria - Big, strong, and able! |
Some of these politicians are floating a different name each week, trying to test the waters. Mr Jonathan cannot defeat the current President in any election. Mr Jonathan may be a good person, but Nigerians do not remember him as a good leader.. Was it not under his sleepy watch that Madam Deziani stole billions of dollars? How about the billions that Mr Jonathan hid with Mr Dasuki, which the latter was dolling out to whichever PDP politician Mr Jonathan asked to be given money. And how did Mrs Jonathan end up with about N30 billion in her account. What business was she into? Also, many Nigerians recollect how, as president, Mr Jonathan often appeared to not be in control of any situation. All of his records, and secrets of stolen money in his administration will be brought out so much that he would regret the day he agreed to contest again. |
Kaycee9242:At least appreciate that the refinery that has not worked for properly for a long time may soon start producing. That's good news in my books. |
Mr Tinubu is brilliant, and very hardworking. |
gracealonev:The only 'counter response' from the federal government is via a change of the Constitution. The federal government is not going to waste its time pursuing that. So for all practical purposes, the decision of the Supreme Court is final. |
Praxis758:It is easy for an economic team to look strong when crude oil was selling for an average of over $90 per barrel for several years and your population is ten of millions less than it is today. Put that Obj economic team in charge when a new government comes in at a time when the country was using about 95% of its revenue to service debts, food production was hampered by relentless insecurity, fuel subsidy was costing trillions of naira per year, creditors including China were no longer willing to lend the country money etc and you will find the so-called strong OBJ economic team are not strong at all. They were just lucky the global economic tide (mainly crude oil price) moved strongly in Nigeria's favour at the time. |
Omooba77:No one in government has ever said they eliminated book haram. To eliminate means to reduce to zero. That is not possible in the present scenario. Just 2 belligerent boko haram or bandit members can cause mayhem. So, how is any government going to eliminate all boko haram members from over 100 million population in the North. What the government can rightfully claim is that it has significantly reduced book haram's strength as a marauding terrorist force. We don't hear about boko haram attacks as frequently as we used to. |
KnowAll:Don't be so sure. There are many Southerners who would vote him or Atiku. They suffer from Stockholm syndrome. |
Hold on, but some said no foreign leader wants to associate with Nigeri's President ![]() Yet, Indian leader was in Abuja this weekend. Now G20. Abusing your country and President on twitter and everywhere on the internet just reinforces in the minds of the rest of the world how crude and uncivilised you are. Argentina has experienced as bad if not worse situation as Nigeria in the past few years, yet you don't see their citizens cursing and abusing their country. |
Many young Nigerians detest their own country. They even curse it. Most want to run abroad. No problem. Bye. Don't look back. Indians, Lebanese, and Chinese will keep coming, invest and control many of the most profitable parts of the economy. |
A constitution supersedes everything before it, including any law and edict. Any law or edict that is not included in the 1999 constitution is expired. That is why they say a constitution is supreme. That said, I am in support of the idea of revisiting the desirability of lumping so many different cultures and peoples together in what has proven to be an impossible conglomerate to manage successfully. |
Under the scheme, in addition to the government paying your school fee directly to your school, the government also pays you FREE N240,000 per year (N24k per month). So even when a student is on holiday, he will still receive the monthly payments. Yet, some Southerners still see no good in the policy...as long as it is from Tinubu government. Ok na. |
MarketDispatch:The government has put no limit on the number of students who can access the loan and the free N20,000 monthly payments. The Agency in charge say they have disbursed about N11 billion so far, yet I believe they have over N50 billion available for this year. So there is money available. The government can't force people to apply if they don't want to. The Agency has done a lot of sensitisation in various institutions, on radio, and TV. It is up to people to apply if they want. |
Dbakre1:My cousin's son is in a university not far from me and he comes to spend a few days with me when he is off school. I told his father about the student loan and free N20,000 per month scheme and suggested his son apply. He was not that interested. He's a PDP activist, though I don't know if that explains his disinterest. Yet, his brilliant son struggles to maintain himself in school due to financial stress ![]() Ah well. I am happy to see the Northerners are the leading applicants for the scheme. Those ones don't joke with government freebies. Good for them. Southerners can do what they like. |
anonimi:So people should stop going to school because they might not get a job after graduating ![]() You know tomorrow abi. |
membranus:I too couldn't make sense of her comment. We spend naira in this country, not dollars. Some people just don't want anything good to happen under this government. They criticise everything under the sun. |
saintkel:I agree with him that your question is petty, unnecessary, and parochial. The loan and grant scheme is not given based on regions. Any qualifying student from all regions can apply. |
Kobojunkie:The N20,000 is free money. To help with upkeep. This government has really tried. Hopefully the amount will keep increasing in the coming years, and hopefully no future government will cancel the scheme. |
I have not for once been impressed by Mr Onanuga. Why does he feel the need to respond to every comment from the Atiku side on a rolling basis. Back and forth, back and forth, like school children. He may have served the President well in Lagos in the past, but he is just not cut out for the job of a modern Presidential media aide. Beside endless needless responses, the responses are often laboured, too long, drifting, and offering no central focus. The President needs to look beyond loyalty and let the man go. |
Calling it vandalism doesn't mean someone climbing to remove an equipment for sale. It could also mean the vandals using improvised bombs to destroy some of the equipment. They can also use AK47. A single shooter firing at an important equipment from a safe distance can cause a serious damage within 2 minutes. And many of these important facilities are in remote forests far from security services. It is going to be impossible to protect all of them. |
DomPerignon:It is not that easy to remove 40 or 50 trillion from circulation. The CBN has been doing all it can to remove it. It will take a few years more to achieve. |
Good. Like Mr Ndume, many of those criticising the bills haven't read them. |
00FFT00:Dams are built for specific purposes if the conditions are right. Over the years, more dams were built in Northern Nigeria than any other part of Nigeria, and rightly so since they have larger rivers, that are suitable for dams, and they need irrigation far more than others. If they need more, then build it there. I don't know how many rivers in the South East can accommodate a dam, and whether such dams will deliver much benefits. If there are, then dams can be built there. But it should not be that because a project is going on in one region, other regions must get same project whether or not they need it. As for the South South, while I am.not an expert in dams, many areas of the Niger delta are too flat for a dam. And do they need dams. If yes, then river basin authorities the South South (every region has a river basin authority) should make the business case and submit to the relevant ministry. You can't beef the South West on this. Contact your region's River Basin Authority and ask them why they are not proposing dams for your region. |
With the kind of power and resources that a Nigerian President wields, it is difficult for a determined President to be voted out of office. Except you're Mr Jonathan, who was in power but not in control. |

Headline doesn't tell the whole story. They are stopping new registrations from 2025 (but they're not banning existing CNG vehicles from the road) because: 1. The CNG tanks used in Malaysian vehicles are coming to the end of their 15 year expiry period. There was nothing in the report that said the tanks have been causing problems during the last 15 years. 2. The big issue is the fact that some Malaysians were illegally converting the CNG tanks in their vehicles and filling it with LPG, which is a cheaper but riskier gas. So, the problem is the illegal conversion from CNG to LPG. 3. The entire country has only 45,000 CNG vehicles. And if people are illegally converting them to LPG, and causing explosions, the government may well feel it is better to stop new CNG registrations. So, the people doing illegal CNG to LPG conversion are the problem, not CNG as a technology. CNG vehicles are very safe. |
Yesterday, Senator Ndume said the Bill is dead on arrival when it gets to the national assembly. The interviewer, Mr Okinbaloye of Channels tv asked if he has read the bill, the Senator said he hasn't, and added that he doesn't have to read it to oppose it ![]() Unbelievable. |
The Chinese man is even relaxed. Why is he not in handcuffs? |
Nigeria's most visionary, courageous, and unfazed leader since independence. With the vibe I got from Mr President's speech, I believe we are set for a better future, and I feel confident to go ahead with establishing a new project that I have been holding back on. I will be calling my oversees-based partner this week. We need to get going. |
Many of these reforms are now permanent. Subsequent Presidents will be happy a President before them took the difficult decisions and also took all the blame. But no future President will reintroduce fuel subsidy. They will be happy subsidy is done and dusted. As a reformist President, Mr Tinubu is miles ahead of all past Presidents going all the way back to Mr Obasanjo. |
