I did something similar to this early this year before Nairaland was hacked. The thread was based on the book, Explicit Biology, which to my knowledge is the best textbook for JAMB biology. As a teacher,it is the textbook that I use to teach my JAMB students. According to the author, O.J. Olaoye, he said,

The JAMB-UTME biology syllabus is divided into five sections and questions are usually weighted as shown below:

Section A: Variety of organisms – 7-9 questions
Section B: Form and Function – 18-20 questions
Section C: Ecology – 9-11 questions
Section D: Heredity and Variation –4- 5 questions
Section E: Evolution – 4- 5 questions
Total number of questions = 50

The preface of the book clearly stated the intent of the author. I teach Chemistry and this book has now become my lecture note. Remember, this is the same guy that wrote Explicit Biology. His books are the best I've seen on JAMB Biology and now Chemistry.

PREFACE
The idea to write a text like this came in the year 2005 when I was preparing some students for SSCE/JAMB examination. I would solve all past questions relevant to the topics in review with my students in a logical sequence. I reckoned that there should be a text in Chemistry written with such a style for an effective and easy preparation but there was none. However, there were already two classical books, ‘Integrated Mathematics’ and ‘The Science Physics’ both written by Afolabi J.R using this beautiful style I thought about. So, I took the challenge to write Explicit Chemistry.

Explicit Chemistry epitomizes my time-tested pedagogy of preparing students to perform excellently in their examinations for the last one decade. It is a robust revision text book that is rich in notes, questions and answers presented in a simple but effective style with the SSCE/JAMB syllabus in perspective through the chapters.

The purpose of this book is to assist student prepare adequately for their examination with confidence as I have come to the conclusion during the time of writing this book that examination preparation without solving the past questions as treated in this book is largely inchoate and could mean poor preparation. My observation is that questions are spread in a particular pattern every year across the five sections that I have divided this book in the content pages. They are as follows:

SECTIONS QUESTIONS
SECTION A: PROPERTIES OF MATTER 20 - 22
SECTION B: REDOX / ELECTROCHEMISTRY 3 - 4
SECTION C: CHEMICAL KINETICS 4 - 5
SECTION D: DESCRIPTIVE CHEMISTRY OF ELEMENTS 6 - 7
SECTION E: ORGANIC CHEMISTRY 10 - 12
TOTAL 50 QUESTIONS

Therefore, it is my strong conviction that students and teachers will find this text useful, and the nine years I have put in writing will be worth the while.

Helpful criticisms and suggestions are welcome.

My reason for commenting on this thread is to give support to macmos to guide the prospective JAMBites, contrary to your perception. That said, from my experience in preparing students for JAMB over the years, I have come to the conclusion that questions are recycled. Of course they may not be words-for-words.
Again, contrary to your claim, I can show you more than five questions that were lifted from the past questions in biology (2012) words-for-words; and several others that were paraphrased. However, I am not advocating craming of past questions but fervent solving of past questions is an element of effective preparation.
Therefore, I will recommend any book that address the syllabus with copious questions for practice and emphasis. That is why I recommended the books in the thread below, particularly:
Explicit Biology-A Revision Course (2nd Edition) by O.J. Olaoye and;
The Science Physics by Afolabi J.R

The easiest way to score 250+ in JAMB is to start reading early and systematically with the syllabus. I make bold to say that if you can solve the entire past questions at least twice in all the subject, then you have nothing to fear.

However, it could be boring and tedious to do, but it is the best way to prepare. There are no new questions in the actual sense but modifications of past questions.

In view of the above, here are some books writen in cognisance of above fact:

Here is the new edition of Explicit Biology. It's a must read for prospective 'JAMBITES'!!!

Education / How To Study And Have A Distinction In Biology Exam by DelePhd: 11:03am On Jul 24, 2012
HOW TO STUDY TO PASS BIOLOGY EXAM WITH EASE!
Biology is a prerequisite subject in the O’level exam. All candidates, regardless of your class, must take this subject and must have at least a credit pass in other to advance. For the prospective medical and life science undergraduates, biology is also a prerequisite subject. Here is how to increase your performance and have a high score in biology examination.
1. Start to prepare early: Given the enormity of the subject, it is imperative you start to prepare early in other to cover the syllabus on time and adequately.
2. Prepare adequately with the right books: There are many books out there on the subject but be sure it’s the right book. As a rule, check the syllabus requirement and the table of content of the book to see if they are related.
3. Prepare adequately with past questions: The past questions help you understand the pattern of the exam and also guide you on what to pay more attention to in the course of your study. NOTE: Questions are often repeated, as a matter of fact, new questions are modified from the past questions.
4. Use of mnemonics for easy assimilation: Mnemonics help to memorize and recall difficult topics easily. Develop personal mnemonics and see yourself improve.
5. Use of charts, tables and diagrams for easy assimilation: I make bold to say, without equivocation, that you cannot study biology effectively without charts, tables and diagrams. They improve your ability to assimilate and recall with ease.

Get a copy of the book, EXPLICIT BIOLOGY- A Revision Course (2nd edition) to see the full implementation of these techniques.

Give me sometime pls. I'll come up with something cos I'm @ work. But is d symbol affecting the phone functions? If it doesn't I'll suggest you to let it be. I'll see wat can be done

With the symbol, it simply means there is earpiece in it i.e. the phone is "seeing" it. I cannot receive or make calls that way because I won't hear what the next person is saying neither will he/she hear me. Also I cannot play music. I used to listen to songs using my earpiece until they intentionally damaged the earpiece port at Computer village, thinking that will solve the problem.
Thanks for your concern.

I HOPE THIS HELPS
If you have problems with your HTC Touch Pro
2 smartphone, you may want to try to perform a
soft or hard reset.
A soft reset will reset the device without
clearing any data off of it. Simply remove the
rear cover of the device, then use the tip of the
stylus or a paper clip and insert it into the reset
button hole on the side of the device, next to the
slot for removing the battery.
If that doesn’t clear your problem or you just
want to wipe all data off the device easily, you
can perform a hard reset with these steps:
1. While the HTC Touch Pro 2 is off, press and
hold Talk/Send, End and Power until you see a
message on the screen about deleting all data.
2. Release the buttons after the message
appears.
3. Press the Volume Up button.

I have done the simple reset for about 5 times and have also had to clear the phone memory but all to no avail. It's still showing that ear piece is inserted.
Phones / Re: Has Your HTC Phone Ever Crashed? by DelePhd: 3:47pm On Jul 05, 2012
My first HTC phone was HTC 9600 (I think). I bought a used one, which I used for over a year. It developed a fault and kept on showing that it's connected to power even when it's not; this lead to the eventual crashing of the phone.

Presently, I'm using HTC pro 2, which I bought sometime in March this year. I'm afraid it going the way of my first HTC, it kept showing the ear-piece, even when I've unplugged it. I took it Computer village, the guy damaged the ear piece port yet it's still displaying the ear piece. Right now, it's of no use, except for browsing because I can't make or receive calls with it.

I'll appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

I hope they extend the deadline anyway.

If you are writing Biology in this coming JAMB(UTME). You need to read Explicit Biology. I wish you all success.

The monograph “Explicit Biology: A Revision Course” for UTME, POST-UTME and other related examinations written by O.J. Olaoye is a complementary text to the various textbooks that have been written in the subject area. The book has five sections and twenty seven chapters on all the biology topics.
This book has become timely in view of the poor results that are being witnessed in the UTME examination especially in the sciences and mathematics, biology inclusive. These majorly are due to poor or inadequate access to good study materials.
Each chapter has annotated topics followed by copious specimen questions on some past UTME and POST–UTME examination, for practice and emphasis. The topics in each chapter are adequately treated and with clarity. The illustrations are simple but effective.
The author has done a lot of work and put in efforts to come out with a very readable and useful text. It is highly recommended to all the students aspiring to undertake the UTME and POST-UTME examination, in order to improve highly their chances of success.
